< Isaiah 14 >
1 For the LORD will have compassion on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land: and the stranger shall join himself with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob.
2 And the peoples shall take them, and bring them to their place: and the house of Israel shall possess them in the land of the LORD for servants and for handmaids: and they shall take them captive, whose captives they were; and they shall rule over their oppressors.
Pea ʻe tataki ʻakinautolu ʻe he kakai, ʻo ʻomi ʻakinautolu ki honau potu: pea ʻe maʻu ʻakinautolu ʻe he fale ʻo ʻIsileli ʻi he fonua ʻo Sihova ko e kau tamaioʻeiki mo e kau kaunanga: pea te nau fakapōpulaʻi ʻakinautolu, naʻa nau pōpula ki ai; pea te nau puleʻi ʻakinautolu naʻe fakamālohiʻi ʻakinautolu.
3 And it shall come to pass in the day that the LORD shall give thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy trouble, and from the hard service wherein thou wast made to serve,
Pea ʻe hoko ʻo pehē, ʻi he ʻaho ko ia ʻe foaki kiate koe ʻae mālōlō mei hoʻo mamahi, mo hoʻo manavahē, pea mei he pōpula mamahi ʻaia naʻa mou moʻulaloa ki ai.
4 that thou shalt take up this parable against the king of Babylon, and say, How hath the oppressor ceased! the golden city ceased!
Te ke toʻo hake ʻae lea mamafa ni ki he tuʻi ʻo Papilone, ʻo pehē, “Hono ʻikai kuo siʻaki ʻaia naʻe pule fakamālohi! hono ʻikai kuo siʻaki ʻae kolo naʻe faʻa kumi koula!
5 The LORD hath broken the staff of the wicked, the sceptre of the rulers;
Kuo fesiʻi ʻe Sihova ʻae tokotoko ʻoe angakovi, pea mo e fakaʻilonga ʻoe kau pule.
6 that smote the peoples in wrath with a continual stroke, that ruled the nations in anger, with a persecution that none restrained.
Ko ia naʻe taaʻi ʻae kakai ʻi he tuputāmaki ʻaki ʻae tautea taʻetuku, ko ia naʻe puleʻi ʻae ngaahi puleʻanga ʻi he ʻita, kuo fakatangaʻi ia, pea ʻoku ʻikai taʻofi ʻe ha taha.
7 The whole earth is at rest, [and] is quiet: they break forth into singing.
ʻOku mālōlō ʻa māmani kotoa pē, pea fiemālie: ʻoku nau kamata hiva fiefia.
8 Yea, the fir trees rejoice at thee, [and] the cedars of Lebanon, [saying], Since thou art laid down, no feller is come up against us.
ʻIo, ʻoku fiefia ʻiate koe ʻae ngaahi ʻakau ko e paini, pea mo e ngaahi sita ʻo Lepanoni, ʻonau pehē, Talu hoʻo tō ki lalo koe, kuo ʻikai haʻu kiate kimautolu ha tangata taʻanga.
9 Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations. (Sheol )
ʻOku ngaue ʻa hētesi mei lalo maʻau ke fakafetaulaki kiate koe ʻi ho haʻu: ʻoku ne ueʻi ʻae mate maʻau, ʻio, ʻae kau tuʻu ki muʻa kotoa pē ʻo māmani; kuo ne fokotuʻu mei honau nofoʻanga ʻae ngaahi tuʻi kotoa pē ʻoe ngaahi puleʻanga. (Sheol )
10 All they shall answer and say unto thee, Art thou also become weak as we? art thou become like unto us?
ʻE lea ʻakinautolu kotoa pē ʻo pehē kiate koe, “Kuo ke hoko ʻo vaivai ʻo hangē ko kimautolu ni? Kuo ke hoko ʻo tatau mo kimautolu ni?”
11 Thy pomp is brought down to hell, [and] the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under thee, and worms cover thee. (Sheol )
Kuo fakahifo hoʻo laukau ki he faʻitoka, pea mo e longoaʻa ʻo hoʻo ngaahi meʻa lea: kuo fofola ʻi lalo ʻiate koe ʻae fanga kelemutu, pea kafu ʻaki koe ʻae fanga kelemutu. (Sheol )
12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O day star, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst lay low the nations!
“ʻE Lusifā, ko e foha ʻoe pongipongi! Hono ʻikai tō hifo koe mei he langi! Hono ʻikai tuʻusi ki lalo koe ki he kelekele, ʻa koe ne ke fakavaivaiʻi ʻae ngaahi puleʻanga!”
13 And thou saidst in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; and I will sit upon the mount of congregation, in the uttermost parts of the north:
He naʻa ke pehē ʻi ho loto, “Te u ʻalu hake ki he langi, te u fokotuʻu ke māʻolunga hake ʻa hoku nofoʻanga ʻi he ngaahi fetuʻu ʻoe ʻOtua: pea te u nofo ʻi he moʻunga ʻoe fakatahaʻanga, ʻi he ngaahi potu tokelau:
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the Most High.
Te u ʻalu hake ke māʻolunga ʻi he ngaahi ʻao; te u tatau mo ia ʻoku māʻolunga taha pe.”
15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the uttermost parts of the pit. (Sheol )
“Ka e hifo koe ki lalo ki he faʻitoka, ki he kaokao ʻoe luo. (Sheol )
16 They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, they shall consider thee, [saying], Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;
Ko kinautolu ʻe mamata kiate koe te nau sio fakamamaʻu kiate koe, pea fakalaulauloto kiate koe, ʻo pehē, ‘Ko e tangata koā eni naʻe ngaohi ke tetetete ai ʻa māmani, ʻaia naʻe lulululu ʻae ngaahi puleʻanga;
17 that made the world as a wilderness, and overthrew the cities thereof; that let not loose his prisoners to their home?
ʻAia naʻa ne ngaohi ʻa māmani ke hangē ko ha toafa, pea ne fakaʻauha hono ngaahi kolo; ʻaia naʻe ʻikai fakaava ʻae fale ʻo ʻene kau pōpula?’”
18 All the kings of the nations, all of them, sleep in glory, every one in his own house.
ʻOku takoto ʻi he nāunau ʻae tuʻi kotoa pē ʻoe ngaahi puleʻanga, ʻio, ʻakinautolu kotoa pē, taki taha ʻi hono fale.
19 But thou art cast forth away from thy sepulchre like an abominable branch, clothed with the slain, that are thrust through with the sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcase trodden under foot.
Ka kuo lī koe mei ho fonualoto ʻo hangē ko e vaʻa fakalielia, pea hangē ko e kofu ʻokinautolu kuo tāmateʻi, ʻaia kuo hokaʻi ʻaki ʻae heletā, ʻaia ʻoku ʻalu hifo ki he ngaahi maka ʻoe luo; pea hangē ko e ʻangaʻanga kuo malamalaki ʻi he lalo vaʻe.
20 Thou shalt not be joined with them in burial, because thou hast destroyed thy land, thou hast slain thy people; the seed of evil-doers shall not be named for ever.
ʻE ʻikai fai fakataha ho tanu mo kinautolu, koeʻuhi kuo ke fakaʻauha ho fonua, pea tāmateʻi mo hoʻo kakai: ʻe ʻikai ʻaupito ongoongolelei ʻae hako ʻoe fai meʻa kovi.
21 Prepare ye slaughter for his children for the iniquity of their fathers; that they rise not up, and possess the earth, and fill the face of the world with cities.
Teuʻi ʻae fakapō ki heʻene fānau koeʻuhi ko e hia ʻa ʻenau ngaahi tamai; ke ʻoua naʻa nau tuʻu hake, pe maʻu ʻae fonua, pe ʻufiʻufi ʻaki ʻae funga ʻo māmani ʻae ngaahi kolo.
22 And I will rise up against them, saith the LORD of hosts, and cut off from Babylon name and remnant, and son and son’s son, saith the LORD.
He ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau, “Te u tuʻu hake kiate kinautolu, pea tuʻusi mei Papilone ʻae hingoa, mo hono toenga [kakai], mo e foha, pea mo e fānau ʻa hono foha, ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova.
23 I will also make it a possession for the porcupine, and pools of water: and I will sweep it with the besom of destruction, saith the LORD of hosts.
ʻOku pehē foki ʻe Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau, Te u ngaohi ia ko e potu ʻoe pitani, mo e ngaahi luo vai; pea te u tafi kituʻaniu ia ʻaki ʻae meʻa tafi ʻoe fakaʻauha.”
24 The LORD of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand:
Kuo fuakava ʻa Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau, ʻo pehē, “Ko e moʻoni ʻe hoko ʻo hangē ko ia kuo u fifili ki ai, pea hangē ko ia kuo u tuʻutuʻuni, ko ia pe ʻe tuʻu maʻu:
25 that I will break the Assyrian in my land, and upon my mountains tread him under foot: then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulder.
Ke u laiki ʻae tangata ʻAsilia ʻi hoku fonua pea te u malaki hifo ia ʻi hoku ngaahi moʻunga: pea ʻe toki mahuʻi ʻiate kinautolu ʻa ʻene haʻamonga, pea hiki mo ʻene kavenga mei honau uma.
26 This is the purpose that is purposed upon the whole earth: and this is the hand that is stretched out upon all the nations.
Ko eni ʻae meʻa kuo tuʻutuʻuni ki māmani kotoa pē: pea ko eni ʻae nima kuo mafao atu ki he ngaahi puleʻanga kotoa pē.”
27 For the LORD of hosts hath purposed, and who shall disannul it? and his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?
He kuo finangalo ki ai ʻa Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau, pea ko hai te ne taʻofi ia? Pea kuo mafao atu hono nima, pea ko hai te ne fakafoki ia?
28 In the year that king Ahaz died was this burden.
ʻI he taʻu naʻe pekia ai ʻae tuʻi ko ʻAhasi naʻe fakahā ʻae tala mamafa ni.
29 Rejoice not, O Philistia, all of thee, because the rod that smote thee is broken: for out of the serpent’s root shall come forth a basilisk, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent.
“ʻOua naʻa ke fiefia, ʻe Filisitia kotoa, koeʻuhi kuo fesiʻi ʻae meʻa tā ʻo ia naʻa ne taaʻi koe: koeʻuhi ʻe tupu mai mei he tefito ʻoe ngata ʻae ngata fekai lahi, pea ko hono fua ʻo ia ko e ngata vela ʻoku puna.
30 And the firstborn of the poor shall feed, and the needy shall lie down in safety: and I will kill thy root with famine, and thy remnant shall be slain.
Pea ʻe mākona ʻae ʻuluaki fānau ʻae paea, pea ʻe tokoto ʻi he fiemālie ʻae masiva: pea te u tāmateʻi ho tefito ʻaki ʻae honge, pea te ne taaʻi ho toenga[kakai].
31 Howl, O gate; cry, O city; thou art melted away, O Philistia, all of thee; for there cometh a smoke out of the north, and none standeth aloof at his appointed times.
Tangi, ʻae matapā, tāngiloa, ʻae kolo; ʻa koe, ko Filisitia kotoa, kuo mole ʻi he manavahē: koeʻuhi ʻe haʻu mei he tokelau ʻae ʻohuafi, pea ʻe ʻikai he ha tokotaha ʻi heʻene ngaahi kautau.
32 What then shall one answer the messengers of the nation? That the LORD hath founded Zion, and in her shall the afflicted of his people take refuge.
Pea ko e hā ha lea ʻe tali ʻaki ʻe ha tokotaha ki he kau talafekau mei he puleʻanga? ʻA eni, Kuo langa hake ʻe Sihova ʻa Saione, pea ʻe falala ki ai ʻae kau masiva ʻa hono kakai.”
