< Hosea 4 >

1 Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.
Fanongo ki he folofola ʻa Sihova ʻe fānau ʻa ʻIsileli: He ʻoku ai ʻae fakakikihi ʻa Sihova mo e kakai ʻoe fonua ni, “Koeʻuhi ʻoku ʻikai ha moʻoni, pe ha ʻaloʻofa, pe ha ʻilo ki he ʻOtua ʻi he fonua.
2 There is nought but swearing and breaking faith, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery; they break out, and blood toucheth blood.
Ko e kape, mo e loi, mo e fakapō, mo e feʻauaki, ʻoku hā mai mei ai, pea ʻoku ala ʻae toto ki he toto.
3 Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field and the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away.
Ko ia, ʻe tangi ʻae fonua, pea ko ia taki taha ʻoku nofo ai ʻe feinga, fakataha mo e fanga manu ʻoe vao, pea mo e fanga manupuna ʻoe ata; ʻio, naʻa mo e ika ʻoe tahi ʻe ʻave mei ai.
4 Yet let no man strive, neither let any man reprove; for thy people are as they that strive with the priest.
“Kae ʻoua naʻa fakakikihi mo valoki ʻe ha tangata ha taha kehe: he ko hoʻo kakai ʻoku hangē ko kinautolu ʻoku fakakikihi mo e taulaʻeiki.
5 And thou shalt stumble in the day, and the prophet also shall stumble with thee in the night; and I will destroy thy mother.
Ko ia te ke hinga ʻi he [kei ]ʻaho; pea mo e palōfita, te ne tō foki mo koe ʻi he pō, pea te u fakaʻauha hoʻo faʻē.
6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I also will forget thy children.
‌ʻOku ʻauha hoku kakai ʻi he masiva ʻilo: koeʻuhi kuo ke liʻaki ʻae ʻilo, te u liʻaki foki koe, ke ʻoua naʻa ke taulaʻeiki kiate au; ko e meʻa ʻi hoʻo fakangaloʻi ʻae fono ʻa ho ʻOtua, te u fakangaloʻi foki hoʻo fānau.
7 As they were multiplied, so they sinned against me: I will change their glory into shame.
‌ʻI henau tupu naʻa nau fai angahala kiate au: ko ia te u liliu ʻenau ongoongolelei ko e mā.
8 They feed on the sin of my people, and set their heart on their iniquity.
‌ʻOku nau kai hake ʻae angahala ʻa hoku kakai, pea ʻoku nau tukupau honau loto ki heʻenau angakovi.
9 And it shall be, like people, like priest: and I will punish them for their ways, and will reward them their doings.
Pea ʻe pehē ʻi ai, hangē ko e kakai, ʻe pehē ʻae taulaʻeiki: pea te u tautea ʻakinautolu koeʻuhi ko honau ngaahi hala, pea totongi kiate kinautolu ʻenau ngaahi faianga.
10 And they shall eat, and not have enough; they shall commit whoredom, and shall not increase: because they have left off to take heed to the LORD.
He te nau kai ka ʻe ʻikai mākona, te nau feʻauaki ka ʻe ʻikai tupu: koeʻuhi kuo nau tuku ʻenau tokanga kia Sihova.
11 Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the understanding.
Ko e feʻauaki mo e uaine mo e uaine foʻou, ʻoku kavea ʻae loto.
12 My people ask counsel at their stock, and their staff declareth unto them: for the spirit of whoredom hath caused them to err, and they have gone a whoring from under their God.
“ʻOku fehuʻi ʻe hoku kakai ki heʻenau fuʻu ʻakau, pea ko honau tokotoko ʻoku fakahā ia kiate kinautolu: he ko e laumālie ʻoe feʻauaki kuo ne fakahēʻi ʻakinautolu, pea kuo nau ʻalu ʻo feʻauaki mei honau ʻOtua.
13 They sacrifice upon the tops of the mountains, and burn incense upon the hills, under oaks and poplars and terebinths, because the shadow thereof is good: therefore your daughters commit whoredom, and your brides commit adultery.
‌ʻOku nau feilaulau ʻi he funga ʻoe ngaahi moʻunga, pea tutu ʻae ʻakau namu lelei ʻi he ngaahi māʻolunga, ʻi he lalo ʻoke mo e popila mo e elemi, koeʻuhi ʻoku lelei hono malu ʻo ia: ko ia ʻe feʻauaki ho ngaahi ʻofefine, pea ʻe tono tangata homou ngaahi uaifi.
14 I will not punish your daughters when they commit whoredom, nor your brides when they commit adultery; for they themselves go apart with whores, and they sacrifice with the harlots: and the people that doth not understand shall be overthrown.
‌ʻIkai te u tautea homou ngaahi ʻofefine ʻi heʻenau feʻauaki, mo homou ngaahi uaifi ʻi heʻenau tono tangata? He ʻoku nau kau taha mo e kau fefine feʻauaki, pea ʻoku nau feilaulau mo e kau feʻauaki: ko ia, ʻE hinga ki lalo ʻae kakai ʻoku ʻikai ʻi ai ha poto.
15 Though thou, Israel, play the harlot, yet let not Judah offend; and come not ye unto Gilgal, neither go ye up to Beth-aven, nor swear, As the LORD liveth.
“Neongo ʻe ʻIsileli ʻa hoʻo fai ʻae feʻauaki, kaeʻoua naʻa hala ai mo Siuta; pea ʻoua naʻa ke haʻu ki Kilikali, pe ʻalu hake ki Peteaveni, pe fuakava, ʻo pehē, ‘ʻOku moʻui ʻa Sihova.’
16 For Israel hath behaved himself stubbornly, like a stubborn heifer: now will the LORD feed them as a lamb in a large place.
He ʻoku fakaholomui ʻa ʻIsileli, ʻo hangē ko e pulu mui ʻoku fakaholomui: ko eni, ʻe fafanga ʻakinautolu ʻe Sihova, ʻo hangē ko e lami ʻi he potu ʻataʻatā.
17 Ephraim is joined to idols; let him alone.
Kuo pikitai ʻa ʻIfalemi ki heʻene ngaahi tamapua: tuku ai pe ia.
18 Their drink is become sour: they commit whoredom continually; her rulers dearly love shame.
Kuo nau muimui ki he inu kona: kuo nau fai maʻuaipē ʻae feʻauaki: ko honau kau pule ʻoku manako ki he fakamā.
19 The wind hath wrapped her up in its wings; and they shall be ashamed because of their sacrifices.
Kuo tākai hake ia ʻe he matangi ʻi hono kapakau, pea te nau mā ʻi heʻenau ngaahi feilaulau.
