Haggai 1
1 In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet unto Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, saying,
Im zweiten Jahre des Königs Darius, am ersten Tage des sechsten Monats, erging das Wort Jahwes durch den Propheten Haggai an Serubabel, den Sohn Sealthiels, den Statthalter von Juda, und an Josua, den Sohn Jozadaks, den Hohenpriester, folgendermaßen:
2 Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, This people say, It is not the time [for us] to come, the time for the LORD’S house to be built.
So spricht Jahwe der Heerscharen: Die Leute da sagen: Die Zeit zur Erbauung des Tempels Jahwes ist jetzt noch nicht gekommen!
3 Then came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet, saying,
Es erging aber das Wort Jahwes durch den Propheten Haggai folgendermaßen:
4 Is it a time for you yourselves to dwell in your cieled houses, while this house lieth waste?
Ist's denn für euch gelegene Zeit, in euren Häusern, und zwar in getäfelten, zu wohnen, während dieses Haus in Trümmern liegt?
5 Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts: Consider your ways,
Nun denn, so spricht Jahwe der Heerscharen: Lenkt doch euer Augenmerk darauf, wie es euch ergeht!
6 Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages [to put it] into a bag with holes.
Ihr habt reichlich ausgesät, aber geringe Einfuhr giebt's; ihr habt gegessen, aber zum Sattwerden reicht es nicht, habt getrunken, aber zum Trunkenwerden ist es nicht genug, habt euch gekleidet, aber um einen warm zu halten, ist's zu wenig, und wer sich um Lohn verdingt, verdient in einen löchrigen Beutel.
7 Thus saith the LORD of hosts: Consider your ways.
So spricht Jahwe der Heerscharen: Lenkt euer Augenmerk darauf, wie es euch ergeht!
8 Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the LORD.
Steigt hinauf ins Gebirge, schafft Holz herbei und baut den Tempel, daß ich Wohlgefallen daran habe und zu Ehren komme! spricht Jahwe.
9 Ye looked for much, and, lo, it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the LORD of hosts. Because of mine house that lieth waste, while ye run every man to his own house.
Ihr zähltet auf viel, aber es ergab sich wenig; ihr brachtets ein, und ich blies es fort. Weshalb das? ist der Spruch Jahwes der Heerscharen; um meines Hauses willen, weil es in Trümmern liegt, während ein jeder von euch seinem eigenen Hause zueilt.
10 Therefore for your sake the heaven is stayed from dew, and the earth is stayed [from] her fruit.
Darum hielt der Himmel über euch den Tau zurück, hielt auch die Erde ihren Ertrag zurück.
11 And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn, and upon the wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground bringeth forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and upon all the labour of the hands.
Ich rief Dürre über das Land und die Berge herbei, über Getreide, Most und Öl und alles, was sonst der Boden hervorbringt, über Menschen und Tiere und über alles, was der Hände Arbeit erwirbt.
12 Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the LORD their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the LORD their God had sent him; and the people did fear before the LORD.
Da hörten Serubabel, der Sohn Sealthiels, und Josua, der Sohn Jozadaks, der Hohepriester, sowie das ganze übrige Volk auf den Ruf Jahwes, ihres Gottes, und auf die Worte des Propheten Haggai, die ihm Jahwe, ihr Gott, aufgetragen hatte, und das Volk bekam Furcht vor Jahwe.
13 Then spake Haggai the LORD’S messenger in the LORD’S message unto the people, saying, I am with you, saith the LORD.
Da sprach Haggai, der Bote Jahwes, kraft der Botschaft Jahwes also zu dem Volke: Ich bin mit euch! ist der Spruch Jahwes.
14 And the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and did work in the house of the LORD of hosts, their God,
Und Jahwe erregte den Eifer Serubabels, des Sohnes Sealthiels, des Statthalters von Juda, und den Eifer Josuas, des Sohnes Jozadaks, des Hohenpriesters, sowie des ganzen übrigen Volkes, daß sie kamen und die Arbeit am Tempel Jahwes der Heerscharen, ihres Gottes, in Angriff nahmen,
15 in the four and twentieth day of the month, in the sixth [month], in the second year of Darius the king.
am vierundzwanzigsten Tage des sechsten Monats im zweiten Jahre des Königs Darius.
