Ezra 4
1 Now when the adversaries of Judah and Benjamin heard that the children of the captivity builded a temple unto the LORD, the God of Israel;
१यहूदा आणि बन्यामीन यांचे काही शत्रू होते. त्यांनी ऐकले की, बंदिवासातून आलेले लोक इस्राएलाचा देव परमेश्वर याचे मंदिर बांधत आहेत.
2 then they drew near to Zerubbabel, and to the heads of fathers’ [houses], and said unto them, Let us build with you: for we seek your God, as ye do; and we do sacrifice unto him since the days of Esarhaddon king of Assyria, which brought us up hither.
२तेव्हा ते जरुब्बाबेल आणि घराण्यांचे प्रमुख यांच्याकडे येऊन म्हणाले, “आम्हासही तुम्हासोबत बांधकाम करु द्या. तुमच्याप्रमाणेच आम्हीही तुमच्या देवाला शोधतो. आणि अश्शूरचा राजा एसरहद्दोन याने आम्हास या जागी आणल्यापासून तुमच्या देवासाठी आम्ही अर्पण करीत आलो आहोत.”
3 But Zerubbabel, and Jeshua, and the rest of the heads of fathers’ houses of Israel, said unto them, Ye have nothing to do with us to build an house unto our God; but we ourselves together will build unto the LORD, the God of Israel, as king Cyrus the king of Persia hath commanded us.
३पण जरुब्बाबेल, येशूवा आणि त्यांच्या वडिलांच्या घराण्याचे प्रमुख त्यांना म्हणाले, “तुम्ही नव्हे तर इस्राएलचा देव परमेश्वर याचे मंदिर फक्त आम्हासच बांधायचे आहे. पारसाचा राजा कोरेश याची तशी आज्ञा आहे.”
4 Then the people of the land weakened the hands of the people of Judah, and troubled them in building,
४त्या देशाचे लोक यहूदी लोकांचे हात कमजोर करू लागले. ते बांधकामाविषयी यहूदी लोकांस भीती घालू लागले.
5 and hired counsellors against them, to frustrate their purpose, all the days of Cyrus king of Persia, even until the reign of Darius king of Persia.
५पारसाच्या कोरेश राजाची सर्व कारकीर्द संपून दारयावेश राजा सत्तेवर येईपर्यंत त्यांची योजना उधळून लावण्यासाठी ते वकीलाला लाचही देत.
6 And in the reign of Ahasuerus, in the beginning of his reign, wrote they an accusation against the inhabitants of Judah and Jerusalem.
६नंतर अहश्वेरोशाच्या राज्याच्या सुरवातीलाच त्यांनी यहूदा व यरूशलेम यातल्या राहणाऱ्यांविरूद्ध आरोप पत्र लिहून पाठवले.
7 And in the days of Artaxerxes wrote Bishlam, Mithredath, Tabeel, and the rest of his companions, unto Artaxerxes king of Persia; and the writing of the letter was written in the Syrian [character], and set forth in the Syrian [tongue].
७अर्तहशश्ताच्या दिवसात बिश्लाम, मिथ्रदाथ, ताबेल व त्यांचे साथीदार यांनी पारसाच्या राजाला पत्र लिहिले. हे पत्र अरामी लिपीत लिहीले असून व अरामी भाषांतरीत केले होते.
8 Rehum the chancellor and Shimshai the scribe wrote a letter against Jerusalem to Artaxerxes the king in this sort:
८यानंतर मुख्य सेनापती रहूम आणि लेखक शिमशय यांनी यरूशलेम येथील लोकांविरूद्ध अर्तहशश्त राजाला लिहीले.
9 then [wrote] Rehum the chancellor, and Shimshai the scribe, and the rest of their companions; the Dinaites, and the Apharsathchites, the Tarpelites, the Apharsites, the Archevites, the Babylonians, the Shushanchites, the Dehaites, the Elamites,
९मुख्य अधिकारी रहूम, लेखक शिमशय आणि त्यांचे बाकीचे सहभागी दिनाई लोक, टर्पली, अफर्शी, अर्खवी, बाबेली, सुसा येथील एलामी, यांनी एक पत्र लिहिले;
10 and the rest of the nations whom the great and noble Osnappar brought over, and set in the city of Samaria, and in the rest [of the country] beyond the river, and so forth.
१०आणि, जे त्यांना जाऊन मिळाले ज्यांना आसनपर या थोर आणि बलाढ्य राजाने शोमरोनात आणि नदीच्या प्रदेशात आणून वसवलेले होते.
11 This is the copy of the letter that they sent unto Artaxerxes the king; Thy servants the men beyond the river, and so forth.
११जे पत्र त्यांनी राजा अर्तहशश्त यास पाठवले त्याची प्रत हीच आहे: “नदीच्या प्रदेशात राहणारे आम्ही तुमचे सेवक:
12 Be it known unto the king, that the Jews which came up from thee are come to us unto Jerusalem; they are building the rebellious and the bad city, and have finished the walls, and repaired the foundations.
१२राजा अर्तहशश्त यास, आम्ही तुम्हास कळवू इच्छितो की, तुम्ही पाठवून दिलेले यहूदी कैदी येथे यरूशलेमेस आले आहेत. ते बंडखोर नगर बांधत आहे. त्यांनी भिंतीचे काम पूर्ण केले आहे आणि पायाची दुरुस्ती केली आहे.
13 Be it known now unto the king, that, if this city be builded, and the walls finished, they will not pay tribute, custom, or toll, and in the end it will endamage the kings.
१३आता राजाला हे समजावे की, जर हे नगर बांधले आणि हे भिंतीचे काम पूर्ण झाले की, ते लोक तुम्हास खंडणी व कर देणार नाहीत, परंतु त्यामुळे राजाची हानी होईल.
14 Now because we eat the salt of the palace, and it is not meet for us to see the king’s dishonour, therefore have we sent and certified the king;
१४खचित आम्ही राजाचे मीठ खातो. कारण राजाचा कोणताही अपमान झालेला पाहणे आम्हास योग्य वाटत नाही. म्हणून आम्ही तुला कळवीत आहोत.
15 that search may be made in the book of the records of thy fathers: so shalt thou find in the book of the records, and know that this city is a rebellious city, and hurtful unto kings and provinces, and that they have moved sedition within the same of old time: for which cause was this city laid waste.
१५तुझ्या पित्याच्या नोंद-पुस्तकात शोधून पाहा आणि त्यावरुन हे नगर बंडखोर आहे राजांना व प्रांताला उपद्रव करणारे आहे आणि पुरातन काळापासून यामध्ये लोक बंड करीत असत. या कारणासाठी त्या नगराचा नाश करण्यात आला होता.
16 We certify the king that, if this city be builded, and the walls finished, by this means thou shalt have no portion beyond the river.
१६आम्ही राजाला कळवतो की, हे नगर आणि त्यासभोवतालची भिंत बांधून पूर्ण झाली की नदीच्या पलीकडे तुमचे काहीच राहणार नाही.”
17 [Then] sent the king an answer unto Rehum the chancellor, and to Shimshai the scribe, and to the rest of their companions that dwell in Samaria, and in the rest [of the country] beyond the river, Peace, and so forth.
१७यावर राजाने पुढील उत्तर पाठवले रहूम, शिमशय आणि त्याचे शोमरोनातले साथीदार व नदीच्या पलीकडे राहणारे बाकीचे लोक, “यांना शांती असो.
18 The letter which ye sent unto us hath been plainly read before me.
१८तुम्ही पाठवलेल्या पत्राचा अनुवाद करून मला वाचून दाखवण्यात आले.
19 And I decreed, and search hath been made, and it is found that this city of old time hath made insurrection against kings, and that rebellion and sedition have been made therein.
१९याकरीता मी चौकशी करण्याचा आदेश दिला आणि तेव्हा असा शोध लागला की, मागील दिवसात राजाच्या विरूद्ध बंड करीत आणि त्यामध्ये बंड व फितुरी केल्याचे प्रकार तेथे सतत घडत आले आहेत.
20 There have been mighty kings also over Jerusalem, which have ruled over all [the country] beyond the river; and tribute, custom, and toll, was paid unto them.
२०यरूशलेमेवर पराक्रमी राजांनी राज्य केले आणि नदीपलीकडच्या सर्व देशावर अधिकार करीत होते. त्या राजांना लोक कर व खंडणी देत असत.
21 Make ye now a decree to cause these men to cease, and that this city be not builded, until a decree shall be made by me.
२१आता तुम्ही त्या लोकांस काम थांबवण्याचा हुकूम दिला पाहिजे. मी आज्ञा देईपर्यंत या नगराचे बांधकाम होऊ नये.
22 And take heed that ye be not slack herein: why should damage grow to the hurt of the kings?
२२तर हे करण्याची हयगय करू नका म्हणून काळजीपूर्वक राहा. राजाचे नुकसान होईपर्यंत हानी का वाढू द्यावी?”
23 Then when the copy of king Artaxerxes’ letter was read before Rehum, and Shimshai the scribe, and their companions, they went in haste to Jerusalem unto the Jews, and made them to cease by force and power.
२३मग राजा अर्तहशश्तने पाठवलेले फर्मान रहूम, शिमशय आणि त्यांच्याबरोबरचे लोक यांना वाचून दाखवण्यात आली. त्यांचे साथीदार ताबडतोब यरूशलेममधील यहूद्याकडे गेले आणि त्यांनी सक्तीने बांधकाम थांबवले.
24 Then ceased the work of the house of God which is at Jerusalem; and it ceased unto the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia.
२४त्यामुळे यरूशलेममधील मंदिराचे काम स्थगित झाले. पारसाचा राजा दारयावेश याच्या कारकिर्दीच्या दुसऱ्या वर्षापर्यंत ते तसेच राहिले.
