Ezekiel 26
1 And it came to pass in the eleventh year, in the first [day] of the month, that the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
La onzième année, le premier jour du mois, la parole de l'Éternel me fut adressée en ces mots:
2 Son of man, because that Tyre hath said against Jerusalem, Aha, she is broken [that was] the gate of the peoples; she is turned unto me: I shall be replenished, now that she is laid waste:
Fils de l'homme, parce que Tyr a dit sur Jérusalem: « Ah! ah! elle est brisée la porte des peuples, c'est vers moi qu'on afflue, je me remplirai, elle est déserte! »
3 therefore thus saith the Lord GOD: Behold, I am against thee, O Tyre, and will cause many nations to come up against thee, as the sea causeth his waves to come up.
pour cela, ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Éternel: Voici, j'en veux à toi, Tyr, et je fais avancer contre toi des peuples nombreux, comme la mer fait avancer ses vagues;
4 And they shall destroy the walls of Tyre, and break down her towers: I will also scrape her dust from her, and make her a bare rock.
et ils détruiront les murs de Tyr, et démoliront ses tours, et j'en balaierai sa terre, et en ferai un roc nu.
5 She shall be a place for the spreading of nets in the midst of the sea; for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD: and she shall become a spoil to the nations.
Elle deviendra un lieu à étendre les filets, au sein de la mer; car c'est moi qui parle, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel; et elle sera la proie des peuples,
6 And her daughters which are in the field shall be slain with the sword: and they shall know that I am the LORD.
et ses filles qui sont sur la terre seront tuées par l'épée; et ils sauront que je suis l'Éternel.
7 For thus saith the Lord GOD: Behold, I will bring upon Tyre Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, king of kings, from the north, with horses; and with chariots, and with horsemen, and a company, and much people.
Car ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Éternel: Voici, j'amène contre Tyr Nébucadnézar, roi de Babel, depuis le septentrion roi des rois, avec des chevaux et des chars, et des cavaliers, et une multitude, et un peuple nombreux.
8 He shall slay with the sword thy daughters in the field: and he shall make forts against thee, and cast up a mount against thee, and raise up the buckler against thee.
Il tuera par l'épée tes filles qui sont sur la terre, et il dressera contre toi des tours, et construira contre toi des terrasses, et lèvera contre toi le bouclier.
9 And he shall set his battering engines against thy walls, and with his axes he shall break down thy towers.
Et il portera ses coups devant lui contre tes murs, et démolira tes tours avec ses machines.
10 By reason of the abundance of his horses their dust shall cover thee: thy walls shall shake at the noise of the horsemen, and of the wagons, and of the chariots, when he shall enter into thy gates, as men enter into a city wherein is made a breach.
Il te couvrira de la poussière soulevée par ses nombreux chevaux; au bruit de la cavalerie et des roues et des chars, tes murs seront ébranlés, quand il pénétrera dans tes portes, comme on pénètre dans une ville par la brèche.
11 With the hoofs of his horses shall he tread down all thy streets: he shall slay thy people with the sword, and the pillars of thy strength shall go down to the ground.
Du sabot de ses chevaux il foulera toutes tes rues; il massacrera ton peuple avec l'épée, et tes statues tutélaires tomberont sur la terre.
12 And they shall make a spoil of thy riches, and make a prey of thy merchandise: and they shall break down thy walls, and destroy thy pleasant houses: and they shall lay thy stones and thy timber and thy dust in the midst of the waters.
Et ils feront leur proie de tes richesses, et pilleront tes marchandises, et démoliront tes murailles, et abattront tes maisons de plaisance, et jetteront au sein des eaux tes pierres, et tes bois, et ta terre.
13 And I will cause the noise of thy songs to cease; and the sound of thy harps shall be no more heard.
Et je ferai cesser le bruissement de tes chants, et le son de tes luths ne sera plus entendu.
14 And I will make thee a bare rock: thou shalt be a place for the spreading of nets; thou shalt be built no more: for I the LORD have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD.
Je ferai de toi un roc nu, et tu deviendras un lieu à étendre les filets. Tu ne seras plus relevée, car c'est moi, l'Éternel, qui ai parlé, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel.
15 Thus saith the Lord GOD to Tyre: Shall not the isles shake at the sound of thy fall, when the wounded groan, when the slaughter is made in the midst of thee?
Ainsi parle à Tyr le Seigneur, l'Éternel: Voici, au fracas de ta chute, aux gémissements des blessés, au massacre qui sera fait dans ton sein, les îles sont tremblantes,
16 Then all the princes of the sea shall come down from their thrones, and lay aside their robes, and strip off their broidered garments: they shall clothe themselves with trembling; they shall sit upon the ground, and shall tremble every moment, and be astonished at thee.
et tous les princes de la mer descendent de leurs trônes, et jettent leurs manteaux, et se dépouillent de leurs vêtements brochés; d'épouvante ils s'enveloppent et s'assoient sur la terre; ils sont consternés de ta ruine et dans la stupeur à ta vue,
17 And they shall take up a lamentation for thee, and say to thee, How art thou destroyed, that wast inhabited of seafaring men, the renowned city, which wast strong in the sea, she and her inhabitants, which caused their terror to be on all that haunt it!
et ils élèvent sur toi une complainte et te disent: Comment as-tu péri, toi le rendez-vous des mers, ville illustre, qui étais puissante sur la mer, toi et tes habitants, qui inspiraient la terreur à tous tes voisins!
18 Now shall the isles tremble in the day of thy fall; yea, the isles that are in the sea shall be dismayed at thy departure.
Maintenant au jour de ta chute les îles tremblent, et les îles de la mer sont consternées de ta fin.
19 For thus saith the Lord GOD: When I shall make thee a desolate city, like the cities that are not inhabited; when I shall bring up the deep upon thee, and the great waters shall cover thee;
Car ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Éternel: Quand je ferai de toi une ville en ruines, pareille aux villes qui ne sont plus habitées, quand je soulèverai contre toi les flots afin que les grandes eaux te recouvrent,
20 then will I bring thee down with them that descend into the pit, to the people of old time, and will make thee to dwell in the nether parts of the earth, in the places that are desolate of old, with them that go down to the pit, that thou be not inhabited; and I will set glory in the land of the living:
alors je te précipiterai vers ceux qui sont descendus dans la fosse, vers le peuple de jadis, et te placerai dans les régions souterraines, dans une solitude éternelle, près de ceux qui sont descendus dans la fosse, afin que tu ne sois plus habitée; tandis que je mettrai de la gloire sur la terre des vivants.
21 I will make thee a terror, and thou shalt be no more: though thou be sought for, yet shalt thou never be found again, saith the Lord GOD.
Je ferai de toi un terrible exemple de destruction; c'en est fait de toi! on te cherchera, mais on ne te retrouvera jamais, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel.
