Esther 8
1 On that day did the king Ahasuerus give the house of Haman the Jews enemy unto Esther the queen. And Mordecai came before the king; for Esther had told what he was unto her.
Naquele dia, o rei Assuero entregou a casa de Haman, o inimigo dos judeus, a Ester, a rainha. Mordecai veio perante o rei, pois Ester tinha dito o que ele era para ela.
2 And the king took off his ring, which he had taken from Haman, and gave it unto Mordecai. And Esther set Mordecai over the house of Haman.
O rei tirou seu anel, que ele havia tirado de Haman, e o deu a Mordecai. Ester colocou Mordecai sobre a casa de Haman.
3 And Esther spake yet again before the king, and fell down at his feet, and besought him with tears to put away the mischief of Haman the Agagite, and his device that he had devised against the Jews.
Esther falou mais uma vez perante o rei, e caiu a seus pés e implorou-lhe com lágrimas para que ele afastasse a maldade de Haman, o agagita, e seu plano que ele havia planejado contra os judeus.
4 Then the king held out to Esther the golden sceptre. So Esther arose, and stood before the king.
Então o rei estendeu a Ester o cetro de ouro. Então Ester se levantou, e se apresentou diante do rei.
5 And she said, If it please the king, and if I have found favour in his sight, and the thing seem right before the king, and I be pleasing in his eyes, let it be written to reverse the letters devised by Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, which he wrote to destroy the Jews which are in all the king’s provinces:
Ela disse: “Se agradar ao rei, e se eu encontrei favor à sua vista, e a coisa parece certa para o rei, e estou agradando aos seus olhos, que seja escrito para reverter as cartas concebidas por Haman, o filho de Hammedatha, o agagita, que ele escreveu para destruir os judeus que estão em todas as províncias do rei.
6 for how can I endure to see the evil that shall come unto my people? or how can I endure to see the destruction of my kindred?
Como posso suportar para ver o mal que viria ao meu povo? Como posso suportar para ver a destruição de meus parentes”?
7 Then the king Ahasuerus said unto Esther the queen and to Mordecai the Jew, Behold, I have given Esther the house of Haman, and him they have hanged upon the gallows, because he laid his hand upon the Jews.
Então o rei Assuero disse a Ester, a rainha, e a Mordecai, o judeu: “Veja, eu dei a Ester a casa de Haman, e eles o enforcaram na forca porque ele colocou sua mão sobre os judeus.
8 Write ye also to the Jews, as it liketh you, in the king’s name, and seal it with the king’s ring: for the writing which is written in the king’s name, and sealed with the king’s ring, may no man reverse.
Escreva também aos judeus como lhe aprouver, em nome do rei, e sele-o com o anel do rei; pois a escrita que está escrita em nome do rei, e selada com o anel do rei, não pode ser revertida por nenhum homem”.
9 Then were the king’s scribes called at that time, in the third month, which is the month, Sivan, on the three and twentieth [day] thereof; and it was written according to all that Mordecai commanded unto the Jews, and to the satraps, and the governors and princes of the provinces which are from India unto Ethiopia, an hundred twenty and seven provinces, unto every province according to the writing thereof, and unto every people after their language, and to the Jews according to their writing, and according to their language.
Então os escribas do rei foram chamados naquela época, no terceiro mês, que é o mês Sivan, no vigésimo terceiro dia do mês; e foi escrito de acordo com tudo o que Mordecai ordenou aos judeus, e aos governadores locais, e aos governadores e príncipes das províncias que são da Índia à Etiópia, cento e vinte e sete províncias, a cada província de acordo com sua escrita, e a cada povo em sua língua, e aos judeus em sua escrita, e em sua língua.
10 And he wrote in the name of king Ahasuerus, and sealed it with the king’s ring, and sent letters by posts on horseback, riding on swift steeds that were used in the king’s service, bred of the stud:
Ele escreveu em nome do rei Assuero, e o selou com o anel do rei, e enviou cartas por mensageiro a cavalo, montando em cavalos reais que foram criados a partir de corcéis velozes.
11 wherein the king granted the Jews which were in every city to gather themselves together, and to stand for their life, to destroy, to slay, and to cause to perish, all the power of the people and province that would assault them, [their] little ones and women, and to take the spoil of them for a prey,
Nessas cartas, o rei concedeu aos judeus que estavam em cada cidade para se reunirem e defenderem suas vidas - para destruir, matar e fazer perecer todo o poder do povo e da província que os atacaria, seus pequenos e mulheres, e para saquear seus bens,
12 upon one day in all the provinces of king Ahasuerus, [namely], upon the thirteenth [day] of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar.
em um dia em todas as províncias do rei Assuero, no décimo terceiro dia do décimo segundo mês, que é o mês de Adar.
13 A copy of the writing, that the decree should be given out in every province, was published unto all the peoples, and that the Jews should be ready against that day to avenge themselves on their enemies.
Uma cópia da carta, que o decreto deveria ser entregue em todas as províncias, foi publicada para todos os povos, para que os judeus estivessem prontos para esse dia se vingarem de seus inimigos.
14 So the posts that rode upon swift steeds that were used in the king’s service went out, being hastened and pressed on by the king’s commandment; and the decree was given out in Shushan the palace.
Assim, os mensageiros que cavalgavam em cavalos reais saíram, apressados e pressionados pelo mandamento do rei. O decreto foi emitido na cidadela de Susa.
15 And Mordecai went forth front the presence of the king in royal apparel of blue and white, and with a great crown of gold, and with a robe of fine linen and purple: and the city of Shushan shouted and was glad.
Mordecai saiu da presença do rei com roupas reais de azul e branco, e com uma grande coroa de ouro, e com um manto de linho fino e roxo; e a cidade de Susa gritou e ficou contente.
16 The Jews had light and gladness, and joy and honour.
Os judeus tinham luz, alegria, alegria e honra.
17 And in every province, and in every city, whithersoever the king’s commandment and his decree came, the Jews had gladness and joy, a feast and a good day. And many from among the peoples of the land became Jews; for the fear of the Jews was fallen upon them.
Em cada província e em cada cidade, aonde quer que o mandamento do rei e seu decreto chegassem, os judeus tinham alegria, alegria, uma festa e um feriado. Muitos dentre os povos da terra se tornaram judeus, pois o medo dos judeus havia caído sobre eles.
