Ephesians 4

1 I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, beseech you to walk worthily of the calling wherewith ye were called,

Pea ko eni, ko au ko e pōpula ʻae ʻEiki, ʻoku ou kole kiate kimoutolu, ke mou ʻaʻeva ʻo taau mo e ui ʻaia kuo uiuiʻi ʻaki ʻakimoutolu,

2 with all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

‌ʻI he angavaivai kotoa pē mo e angamalū, mo e kātaki fuoloa, ʻo fekātakiʻaki ʻi he ʻofa;

3 giving diligence to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

‌ʻO ʻahiʻahi lahi ke tauhi ʻae feʻofoʻofani ʻoe Laumālie ʻi he noʻo ʻoe melino.

4 [There is] one body, and one Spirit, even as also ye were called in one hope of your calling;

‌ʻOku taha pe ʻae sino pea taha ʻae Laumālie, ʻio, ʻo hangē kuo ui ʻakimoutolu ki he ʻamanaki lelei pe taha ʻo homou uiuiʻi;

5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism,

Ko e ʻEiki pe taha, ko e tui pe taha, ko e papitaiso pe taha,

6 one God and Father of all, who is over all, and through all, and in all.

Ko e ʻOtua pe taha mo e Tamai ʻatautolu kotoa pē, ʻaia ʻoku māʻolunga he meʻa kotoa pē, pea ʻi he meʻa kotoa pē, pea ʻoku nofoʻia ʻakimoutolu kotoa pē.

7 But unto each one of us was the grace given according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

Ka kuo foaki kiate kitautolu taki taha kotoa pē ʻae ʻofa, ʻo fakatatau ki hono lahi ʻoe foaki ʻa Kalaisi.

8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended on high, he led captivity captive, And gave gifts unto men.

Ko ia ʻoku ne pehē ai, “ʻI heʻene ʻalu hake ki ʻolunga, naʻa ne taki pōpula ʻae fakapōpula, ʻo ne ʻatu ʻae ngaahi foaki ki he kakai.”

9 (Now this, He ascended, what is it but that he also descended into the lower parts of the earth?

(Pea ko ʻene “ʻalu hake,” ko e hā ia ka koeʻuhi naʻe tomuʻa ʻalu hifo ia ki he ngaahi potu ʻi mama ki lalo ni?

10 He that descended is the same also that ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.)

Ko ia naʻa ne ʻalu hifo, ko ia ia foki naʻa ne ʻalu hake ʻo māʻolunga lahi ʻaupito ʻi he ngaahi langi kotoa pē, koeʻuhi ke ne fakafonu ʻae ngaahi meʻa kotoa pē.)

11 And he gave some [to be] apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

Pea “naʻa ne foaki ʻae niʻihi,” ko e kau ʻaposetolo; mo e niʻihi, ko e kau palōfita; mo e niʻihi, ko e kau ʻevangeliō; mo e niʻihi, ko e kau faifekau mo e kau akonaki;

12 for the perfecting of the saints, unto the work of ministering, unto the building up of the body of Christ:

Ko hono fakahaohaoa ʻoe kakai māʻoniʻoni, mo e ngāue fakafaifekau, ke langa hake ʻae sino ʻo Kalaisi:

13 till we all attain unto the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a fullgrown man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

Kae ʻoua ke tau hoko kotoa pē ki he fakataha ʻi he tui, pea mo e ʻiloʻi ʻoe ʻAlo ʻoe ʻOtua, ki he tangata haohaoa, ki he fuofua ʻo hono lahi ʻoe fonu ʻo Kalaisi:

14 that we may be no longer children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, in craftiness, after the wiles of error;

Koeʻuhi ke ʻoua naʻa tau kei fakatamaiki, ʻo feliliʻaki, mo feʻaveʻaki fano ʻe he matangi ʻoe akonaki kotoa pē, ʻi he poto kākā ʻoe tangata, mo e poto ʻi he fiemuʻa, ʻaia ʻoku nau toka tataʻo ai ke kākaaʻi;

15 but speaking truth in love, may grow up in all things into him, which is the head, [even] Christ;

Kae lea ʻaki ʻae moʻoni ʻi he ʻofa, pea tupu hake ʻiate ia, ʻaia ko Kalaisi ko e ʻulu, ʻi he meʻa kotoa pē:

16 from whom all the body fitly framed and knit together through that which every joint supplieth, according to the working in [due] measure of each several part, maketh the increase of the body unto the building up of itself in love.

‌ʻAia ʻoku fakahokohoko ai ʻae sino kotoa, pea fakataha ʻi he meʻa ʻoku tokoni ʻaki ʻe he kupu kotoa pē, ʻo fakatatau ki hono faʻa fai ʻi he fua ʻoe potu kotoa pē, ʻoku tupulaki ai ʻae sino, pea langa hake ia ʻi he ʻofa.

17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye no longer walk as the Gentiles also walk, in the vanity of their mind,

Pea ko e meʻa ni, ʻoku ou tala mo fakapapau ʻi he ʻEiki, ke ʻoua te mou kei ʻaʻeva ʻo hangē ko e ʻaʻeva ʻae Senitaile kehe, ʻi he vale ʻo honau loto,

18 being darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardening of their heart;

Kuo fakapoʻuli honau loto, kuo fakamavaheʻi mei he moʻui fakaʻotua, ʻi he vale ʻoku ʻiate kinautolu, ko e meʻa ʻi he fefeka ʻo honau loto:

19 who being past feeling gave themselves up to lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

‌ʻAkinautolu ʻoku taʻeongoʻi, kuo nau tukuange ʻakinautolu ki he anga fakalielia, ke fai ʻae meʻa ʻuli kotoa pē ʻi he fiefie fai.

20 But ye did not so learn Christ;

Ka kuo ʻikai pehē hono akonekina ʻakimoutolu meia Kalaisi;

21 if so be that ye heard him, and were taught in him, even as truth is in Jesus:

He kuo fanongo ʻakimoutolu kiate ia, pea kuo akonekina ʻakimoutolu meiate ia, ʻo fakatatau ki he moʻoni ʻoku ʻia Sisu:

22 that ye put away, as concerning your former manner of life, the old man, which waxeth corrupt after the lusts of deceit;

Pea ko e meʻa ʻi he ʻulungāanga motuʻa, ke mou siʻaki ʻae tangata motuʻa, ʻaia ʻoku fakalielia, pea tatau mo e ngaahi holi kovi fakakākā;

23 and that ye be renewed in the spirit of your mind,

Pea ke fakafoʻou ʻakimoutolu ʻi he tefito ʻo homou loto;

24 and put on the new man, which after God hath been created in righteousness and holiness of truth.

Pea ke ʻai ʻekimoutolu ʻae tangata foʻou, ʻaia ʻoku fakatupu ke tatau mo e ʻOtua ʻi he angatonu mo e māʻoniʻoni moʻoni.

25 Wherefore, putting away falsehood, speak ye truth each one with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.

Ko ia ke liʻaki ʻae loi, kae taki taha lea ʻaki ʻae moʻoni ki hono kaungāʻapi: he ʻoku tau fekupuʻaki ʻakitautolu.

26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

Ke mou ʻita, kae ʻalu hifo ʻae laʻā mo hoʻomou ʻita:

27 neither give place to the devil.

Pea ʻoua naʻa fakaʻataʻatā ki he tēvolo.

28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing that is good, that he may have whereof to give to him that hath need.

Ko ia ia naʻe kaihaʻa, ke ʻoua ʻe toe kaihaʻa: ka ne ngāue muʻa, ʻo fai ʻaki hono nima ʻae meʻa ʻoku lelei, koeʻuhi ke ne maʻu ke foaki kiate ia ʻoku masiva.

29 Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but such as is good for edifying as the need may be, that it may give grace to them that hear.

Ke ʻoua naʻa haʻu ha talanoa ʻuli mei homou ngutu, ka ko ia ʻoku lelei ʻo ʻaonga ke langaʻaki hake, koeʻuhi ke tupu ai ʻae tokoni ki he kau fanongo.

30 And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, in whom ye were sealed unto the day of redemption.

Pea ʻoua naʻa fakamamahi ki he Laumālie Māʻoniʻoni ʻoe ʻOtua, ʻaia kuo silaʻi ʻaki ʻakimoutolu ki he ʻaho ʻoe huhuʻi.

31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and railing, be put away from you, with all malice:

Tuku ke mamaʻo ʻiate kimoutolu ʻae loto kovi kotoa pē, mo e ʻita, mo e lili, mo e feʻiohoʻaki, mo e lea fakakovi, mo e fakafasifasi kotoa pē:

32 and be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, even as God also in Christ forgave you.

Kae feangaleleiʻaki ʻakimoutolu kiate kimoutolu, ʻo manavaʻofa, ʻo fefakamolemoleʻaki ʻakimoutolu, ʻo hangē ko e fakamolemolea ʻakimoutolu ʻe he ʻOtua koeʻuhi ko Kalaisi.
