Ecclesiastes 12
1 Remember also thy Creator in the days of thy youth, or ever the evil days come, and the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;
১তোমার যৌবনকালে তোমার সৃষ্টিকর্ত্তাকে স্মরণ কর, সমস্যার দিন আসার আগে এবং সেই বছর আসার আগে যখন তুমি বলবে, “এতে আমার কোন আনন্দ নেই,”
2 or ever the sun, and the light, and the moon, and the stars, be darkened, and the clouds return after the rain:
২সূর্য্যের, চাঁদের এবং তারাদের আলোর আগে অন্ধকার বৃদ্ধি পাবে এবং বৃষ্টির পরে কালো মেঘ ফিরে আসবে।
3 in the day when the keepers of the house shall tremble, and the strong men shall bow themselves, and the grinders cease because they are few, and those that look out of the windows be darkened,
৩সেই দিনের যখন প্রাসাদের রক্ষীরা কাঁপবে এবং শক্তিশালী লোক নত হবে এবং সেই মহিলারা যারা পেষণ করা বন্ধ করে কারণ তারা সংখ্যা কম এবং যারা জানলা দিয়ে দেখত তারা আর পরিষ্কার দেখতে পায় না।
4 and the door shall be shut in the street; when the sound of the grinding is low, and one shall rise up at the voice of a bird, and all the daughters of music shall be brought low;
৪সেই দিন হবে যখন রাস্তার দরজা বন্ধ থাকবে এবং পেষণের শব্দ বন্ধ হবে, যখন লোকেরা পাখির আওয়াজে চমকে উঠবে এবং মেয়েদের গানের আওয়াজ কমে যাবে মৃত্যুর মধ্যে সমস্ত কর্মের অবসান, অথবা জীবনের এমন একটা সময় যখন একজন ব্যক্তি ভালো করে আওয়াজ আর শুনতে পারে না কিন্তু অদ্ভুতভাবে উচ্চ তীক্ষ্ণ কন্ঠের দ্বারা বিঘ্নিত হয়।
5 yea, they shall be afraid of [that which is] high, and terrors [shall be] in the way; and the almond tree shall blossom, and the grasshopper shall be a burden, and the caper-berry shall fail: because man goeth to his long home, and the mourners go about the streets:
৫সেই দিন হবে যখন মানুষ উঁচু জায়গা ভয় পাবে এবং রাস্তার ভয়ে ভয় পাবে এবং যখন বাদাম গাছে ফুল ফুটবে এবং যখন ফড়িং নিজেকে জোর করে নিয়ে চলবে এবং যখন স্বাভাবিক ইচ্ছা ব্যর্থ হবে। তখন মানুষ তার অনন্ত ঘরে যাবে এবং শোকার্তরা রাস্তায় যাবে।
6 or ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be broken, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern;
৬রূপার তার ছেঁড়ার আগে বা সোনার বাটি চূর্ণ হওয়ার আগে বা উনুইয়ের ধরে কলসি ভাঙার আগে বা কুয়োর জল তোলার চাকা ভাঙার আগে তোমার সৃষ্টিকর্ত্তাকে স্মণ কর।
7 and the dust return to the earth as it was, and the spirit return unto God who gave it.
৭ধূলো মাটিতে ফিরে যাওয়ার আগে যেখান থেকে তা এসেছিল এবং আত্মা ঈশ্বরের কাছে ফিরে যাবে যিনি তা দিয়েছিলেন।
8 Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher; all is vanity.
৮শিক্ষক বলেছেন, “অসারের অসার,” সব কিছুই অসার।
9 And further, because the Preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge; yea, he pondered, and sought out, [and] set in order many proverbs.
৯শিক্ষক জ্ঞানী ছিলেন এবং তিনি লোকেদের জ্ঞান শিক্ষা দিতেন। তিনি অনুশীলন এবং গভীর চিন্তা করতেন এবং অনেক নীতিকথা লিখতেন।
10 The Preacher sought to find out acceptable words, and that which was written uprightly, [even] words of truth.
১০শিক্ষক উপযুক্ত শব্দের ব্যবহার করে লিখতে চাইছেন, সত্যের ন্যায্য কথা লিখতে চাইছেন।
11 The words of the wise are as goads, and as nails well fastened are [the words of] the masters of assemblies, [which] are given from one shepherd.
১১জ্ঞানীদের কথা সূঁচালো লাঠির মত। মালিকদের নীতি কথা সকল পেরেকের মত গভীরে যায়, যা একজন পালকের দ্বারা শেখানো হয়েছে।
12 And furthermore, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh.
১২আমার ছেলে, কিছু বিষয়ে বেশি সাবধান হও: অনেক বই তৈরী করা, যার শেষ নেই। অনেক অনুশীলন শরীরে ক্লান্তি নিয়ে আসে।
13 [This is] the end of the matter; all hath been heard: fear God, and keep his commandments; for this is the whole [duty] of man.
১৩শেষ বিষয় হল, সবকিছু শোনার পর, তোমরা অবশ্যই ঈশ্বরকে ভয় কর এবং তাঁর আদেশ পালন কর, কারণ এটাই মানবজাতির সমস্ত কর্তব্য।
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every hidden thing, whether it be good or whether it be evil.
১৪কারণ ঈশ্বর প্রত্যেকটি কাজ বিচারে আনবেন, সমস্ত গোপন বিষয় আনবেন, ভালো কি খারাপ সব আনবেন।
