Acts 7
1 And the high priest said, Are these things so?
El sumo sacerdote dijo entonces: ¿Es esto así?
2 And he said, Brethren and fathers, hearken. The God of glory appeared unto our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Haran,
Y él dijo: Varones, hermanos, y padres, escuchád. El Dios de gloria apareció a nuestro padre Abraham estando él en Mesopotamia, antes que morase en Carran.
3 and said unto him, Get thee out of thy land, and from thy kindred, and come into the land which I shall shew thee.
Y le dijo: Sal de tu tierra, y de tu parentela, y ven a la tierra que te mostraré.
4 Then came he out of the land of the Chaldaeans, and dwelt in Haran: and from thence, when his father was dead, [God] removed him into this land, wherein ye now dwell:
Entonces salió él de la tierra de los Caldeos, y habitó en Carran; y de allí, muerto su padre, le traspasó a esta tierra, en la cual vosotros habitáis ahora.
5 and he gave him none inheritance in it, no, not so much as to set his foot on: and he promised that he would give it to him in possession, and to his seed after him, when [as yet] he had no child.
Y no le dio posesión en ella, ni aun una pisada de un pie; mas le prometió que se la daría en posesión a él, y a su simiente después de él, no teniendo aun hijo.
6 And God spake on this wise, that his seed should sojourn in a strange land, and that they should bring them into bondage, and entreat them evil, four hundred years.
Y le habló Dios así: Que su simiente sería extranjera en tierra ajena, y que los sujetarían a servidumbre, y que los maltratarían, por cuatrocientos años:
7 And the nation to which they shall be in bondage will I judge, said God: and after that shall they come forth, and serve me in this place.
Mas a la nación a quien serán siervos, yo la juzgaré, dijo Dios; y después de esto saldrán, y me servirán a mí en este lugar.
8 And he gave him the covenant of circumcision: and so [Abraham] begat Isaac, and circumcised him the eighth day; and Isaac [begat] Jacob, and Jacob the twelve patriarchs.
Y le dio el concierto de la circuncisión; y así engendró Abraham a Isaac, y le circuncidó al octavo día; e Isaac engendró a Jacob, y Jacob a los doce patriarcas.
9 And the patriarchs, moved with jealousy against Joseph, sold him into Egypt: and God was with him,
Y los patriarcas, movidos de envidia, vendieron a José para Egipto; mas Dios era con él,
10 and delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favour and wisdom before Pharaoh king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house.
Y le libró de todas sus tribulaciones, y le dio favor y sabiduría en la presencia de Faraón, rey de Egipto, el cual le puso por gobernador sobre Egipto, y sobre toda su casa.
11 Now there came a famine over all Egypt and Canaan, and great affliction: and our fathers found no sustenance.
Vino entonces hambre en toda la tierra de Egipto y de Canaán, y grande tribulación; y nuestros padres no hallaban alimentos.
12 But when Jacob heard that there was corn in Egypt, he sent forth our fathers the first time.
Y como oyese Jacob que había trigo en Egipto, envió a nuestros padres la primera vez.
13 And at the second time Joseph was made known to his brethren; and Joseph’s race became manifest unto Pharaoh.
Y en la segunda, José fue conocido de sus hermanos, y fue sabido de Faraón el linaje de José.
14 And Joseph sent, and called to him Jacob his father, and all his kindred, threescore and fifteen souls.
Y enviando José, hizo venir a su padre Jacob, y a toda su parentela, a setenta y cinco almas.
15 And Jacob went down into Egypt; and he died, himself, and our fathers;
Así descendió Jacob a Egipto, donde murió él, y nuestros padres,
16 and they were carried over unto Shechem, and laid in the tomb that Abraham bought for a price in silver of the sons of Hamor in Shechem.
Los cuales fueron traspasados a Siquem, y fueron puestos en el sepulcro que compró Abraham a precio de plata de los hijos de Hemor, padre de Siquem.
17 But as the time of the promise drew nigh, which God vouchsafed unto Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt,
Mas como se acercó el tiempo de la promesa, la cual Dios había jurado a Abraham, creció el pueblo, y se multiplicó en Egipto,
18 till there arose another king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph.
Hasta que se levantó otro rey, que no conocía a José.
19 The same dealt subtilly with our race, and evil entreated our fathers, that they should cast out their babes to the end they might not live.
Este, usando de astucia con nuestro linaje, maltrató a nuestros padres, de manera que expusiesen a sus niños, para que cesase la generación.
20 At which season Moses was born, and was exceeding fair; and he was nourished three months in his father’s house:
En aquel mismo tiempo nació Moisés, y fue hermoso en gran manera; y fue criado tres meses en casa de su padre.
21 and when he was cast out, Pharaoh’s daughter took him up, and nourished him for her own son.
Mas siendo expuesto, la hija de Faraón le tomó, y le crió para sí por hijo.
22 And Moses was instructed in all the wisdom of the Egyptians; and he was mighty in his words and works.
Y fue enseñado Moisés en toda la sabiduría de los Egipcios; y era poderoso en sus dichos y hechos.
23 But when he was well-nigh forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren the children of Israel.
Y como se le cumplió el tiempo de cuarenta años, le vino en su corazón de visitar a sus hermanos los hijos de Israel.
24 And seeing one [of them] suffer wrong, he defended him, and avenged him that was oppressed, smiting the Egyptian:
Y como vio a uno de ellos que era injuriado, le defendió, e hiriendo al Egipcio, vengó al injuriado.
25 and he supposed that his brethren understood how that God by his hand was giving them deliverance; but they understood not.
Pero él pensaba que sus hermanos entendiesen, que Dios les había de dar salud por su mano; mas ellos no lo habían entendido.
26 And the day following he appeared unto them as they strove, and would have set them at one again, saying, Sirs, ye are brethren; why do ye wrong one to another?
Y el día siguiente riñendo ellos, se les mostró, y los metía en paz, diciendo: Varones, hermanos sois, ¿por qué os injuriáis los unos a los otros?
27 But he that did his neighbour wrong thrust him away, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge over us?
Entonces el que injuriaba a su prójimo, le rempujó, diciendo: ¿Quién te ha puesto a ti por príncipe y juez sobre nosotros?
28 Wouldest thou kill me, as thou killedst the Egyptian yesterday?
¿Quieres tú matarme, como mataste ayer al Egipcio?
29 And Moses fled at this saying, and became a sojourner in the land of Midian, where he begat two sons.
A esta palabra Moisés huyó; y se hizo extranjero en tierra de Madián, donde engendró dos hijos.
30 And when forty years were fulfilled, an angel appeared to him in the wilderness of mount Sinai, in a flame of fire in a bush.
Y cumplidos cuarenta años, el ángel del Señor le apareció en el desierto del monte de Sinaí en fuego de llama en un zarzal.
31 And when Moses saw it, he wondered at the sight: and as he drew near to behold, there came a voice of the Lord,
Entonces Moisés mirando, fue maravillado de la visión; y llegándose para considerar, vino a él la voz del Señor,
32 I am the God of thy fathers, the God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob. And Moses trembled, and durst not behold.
Diciendo: Yo soy el Dios de tus padres, el Dios de Abraham, y el Dios de Isaac, y el Dios de Jacob; mas Moisés temeroso, no osaba mirar.
33 And the Lord said unto him, Loose the shoes from thy feet: for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.
Y le dijo el Señor: Desata los zapatos de tus pies, porque el lugar en que estás, tierra santa es.
34 I have surely seen the affliction of my people which is in Egypt, and have heard their groaning, and I am come down to deliver them: and now come, I will send thee into Egypt.
He visto, he visto la aflicción de mi pueblo que está en Egipto, y el gemido de ellos he oído, y he descendido para librarlos: ahora pues ven, te enviaré a Egipto.
35 This Moses whom they refused, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge? him hath God sent [to be] both a ruler and a deliverer with the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the bush.
A este Moisés, al cual ellos habían negado, diciendo: ¿Quién te ha puesto por príncipe y juez? a éste envió Dios por príncipe y libertador por la mano del ángel que le apareció en el zarzal.
36 This man led them forth, having wrought wonders and signs in Egypt, and in the Red sea, and in the wilderness forty years.
Este los sacó, haciendo prodigios y milagros en la tierra de Egipto, y en el mar Bermejo, y en el desierto por cuarenta años.
37 This is that Moses, which said unto the children of Israel, A prophet shall God raise up unto you from among your brethren, like unto me.
Este es aquel Moisés, que dijo a los hijos de Israel: Profeta os levantará el Señor Dios vuestro, de vuestros hermanos, como yo; a él oiréis.
38 This is he that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sinai, and with our fathers: who received living oracles to give unto us:
Este es el que estuvo en la iglesia en el desierto con el ángel que le hablaba en el monte de Sinaí; y con nuestros padres: que recibió los oráculos vivos de vida para darnos.
39 to whom our fathers would not be obedient, but thrust him from them, and turned back in their hearts unto Egypt,
Al cual nuestros padres no quisieron obedecer: antes le desecharon; y se volvieron aun de corazón a Egipto,
40 saying unto Aaron, Make us gods which shall go before us: for as for this Moses, which led us forth out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.
Diciendo a Aarón: Háznos dioses que vayan delante de nosotros; porque a este Moisés, que nos sacó de la tierra de Egipto, no sabemos que le ha acontecido.
41 And they made a calf in those days, and brought a sacrifice unto the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their hands.
Y en aquellos días hicieron un becerro, y ofrecieron sacrificio al ídolo, y en las obras de sus manos se holgaron.
42 But God turned, and gave them up to serve the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, Did ye offer unto me slain beasts and sacrifices Forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel?
Entonces Dios se apartó, y los entregó que sirviesen al ejército del cielo, como está escrito en el libro de los profetas: ¿Me ofrecisteis víctimas y sacrificios en el desierto por el espacio de cuarenta años, casa de Israel?
43 And ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch, And the star of the god Rephan, The figures which ye made to worship them: And I will carry you away beyond Babylon.
Antes trajisteis el tabernáculo de Moloc, y la estrella de vuestro dios Remfan, figuras que os hicisteis para adorarlas; y yo os trasportaré más allá de Babilonia.
44 Our fathers had the tabernacle of the testimony in the wilderness, even as he appointed who spake unto Moses, that he should make it according to the figure that he had seen.
Tuvieron nuestros padres el tabernáculo del testimonio en el desierto, como les ordenó Dios, hablando a Moisés, que lo hiciese según la forma que había visto.
45 Which also our fathers, in their turn, brought in with Joshua when they entered on the possession of the nations, which God thrust out before the face of our fathers, unto the days of David;
El cual recibido, metieron también nuestros padres con Jesús en la posesión de los Gentiles, que Dios echó de la presencia de nuestros padres, hasta los días de David.
46 who found favour in the sight of God, and asked to find a habitation for the God of Jacob.
El cual halló favor delante de Dios, y pidió de hallar tabernáculo para el Dios de Jacob.
47 But Solomon built him a house.
Mas Salomón le edificó casa.
48 Howbeit the Most High dwelleth not in [houses] made with hands; as saith the prophet,
Sin embargo el Altísimo no habita en templos hechos de manos, como el profeta dice:
49 The heaven is my throne, And the earth the footstool of my feet: What manner of house will ye build me? saith the Lord: Or what is the place of my rest?
El cielo es mi trono; y la tierra el estrado de mis pies. ¿Qué casa me edificaréis? dice el Señor: ¿o cuál es el lugar de mi reposo?
50 Did not my hand make all these things?
¿No hizo mi mano todas estas cosas?
51 Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.
Duros de cerviz, e incircuncisos de corazón y de oídos: vosotros resistís siempre al Espíritu Santo; como vuestros padres hicieron, así también hacéis vosotros.
52 Which of the prophets did not your fathers persecute? and they killed them which shewed before of the coming of the Righteous One; of whom ye have now become betrayers and murderers;
¿A cuál de los profetas no persiguieron vuestros padres? y mataron a los que antes anunciaron la venida del Justo, del cual vosotros ahora habéis sido entregadores y matadores:
53 ye who received the law as it was ordained by angels, and kept it not.
Que recibisteis la ley por disposición de ángeles, y no la guardasteis.
54 Now when they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth.
En oyendo estas cosas fueron heridos hasta el corazón, y crujían los dientes contra él.
55 But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,
Mas él estando lleno del Espíritu Santo, puestos los ojos en el cielo, vio la gloria de Dios, y a Jesús que estaba a la diestra de Dios,
56 and said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.
Y dijo: He aquí, veo los cielos abiertos, y al Hijo del hombre que está a la diestra de Dios.
57 But they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and rushed upon him with one accord;
Entonces ellos dando grandes voces, taparon sus orejas; y arremetieron unánimes contra él.
58 and they cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their garments at the feet of a young man named Saul.
Y echándo le fuera de la ciudad le apedreaban; y los testigos pusieron sus vestidos a los pies de un mancebo que se llamaba Saulo.
59 And they stoned Stephen, calling upon [the Lord], and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.
Y apedrearon a Esteban, invocando él al Señor, y diciendo: Señor Jesús, recibe mi espíritu.
60 And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.
Y puesto de rodillas, clamó a gran voz: Señor, no les pongas en cuenta este pecado. Y habiendo dicho esto, durmió.
