Acts 16
1 And he came also to Derbe and to Lystra: and behold, a certain disciple was there, named Timothy, the son of a Jewess which believed; but his father was a Greek.
௧அதன்பின்பு அவன் தெர்பைக்கும் லீஸ்திராவிற்கும் போனான். அங்கே தீமோத்தேயு என்னப்பட்ட ஒரு சீடன் இருந்தான்; அவன் தாய் விசுவாசமுள்ள யூதப்பெண், அவன் தகப்பன் கிரேக்கன்.
2 The same was well reported of by the brethren that were at Lystra and Iconium.
௨அவன் லீஸ்திராவிலும் இக்கோனியாவிலுமுள்ள சகோதரர்களாலே நற்சாட்சிப் பெற்றவனாக இருந்தான்.
3 Him would Paul have to go forth with him; and he took and circumcised him because of the Jews that were in those parts: for they all knew that his father was a Greek.
௩அவனைப் பவுல் தன்னோடுகூட கூட்டிக்கொண்டு போகவேண்டுமென்று விரும்பி, அவனுடைய தகப்பன் கிரேக்கன் என்று அங்கிருந்த யூதர்களெல்லோருக்கும் தெரிந்திருந்தபடியால், அவர்களின் பொருட்டு அவனுக்கு விருத்தசேதனம்பண்ணினான்.
4 And as they went on their way through the cities, they delivered them the decrees for to keep, which had been ordained of the apostles and elders that were at Jerusalem.
௪அவர்கள் பட்டணங்களுக்குப் போகும்போது, எருசலேமிலிருக்கும் அப்போஸ்தலர்களாலும் மூப்பர்களாலும் விதிக்கப்பட்ட சட்டங்களைக் கைக்கொண்டு நடக்கும்படி அவர்களுக்குச் சொன்னார்கள்.
5 So the churches were strengthened in the faith, and increased in number daily.
௫அதினாலே சபைகள் விசுவாசத்தில் உறுதிப்பட்டு, நாளுக்குநாள் பெருகின.
6 And they went through the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been forbidden of the Holy Ghost to speak the word in Asia;
௬அவர்கள் பிரிகியா கலாத்தியா நாடுகளைக் கடந்துச்சென்றபோது, ஆசியாவிலே வசனத்தைச் சொல்லவேண்டாமென்று பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவராலே தடைசெய்யப்பட்டு,
7 and when they were come over against Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia; and the Spirit of Jesus suffered them not;
௭மீசியா தேசம்வரை வந்து, பித்தினியா நாட்டிற்குப் போக விரும்பினார்கள்; ஆவியானவரோ அவர்களைப் போகவிடவில்லை.
8 and passing by Mysia, they came down to Troas.
௮அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் மீசியா பக்கமாகப்போய், துரோவாவிற்கு வந்தார்கள்.
9 And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There was a man of Macedonia standing, beseeching him, and saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us.
௯அங்கே இராத்திரியிலே பவுலுக்கு ஒரு தரிசனம் உண்டானது; அது என்னவென்றால், மக்கெதோனியா தேசத்தைச் சேர்ந்த ஒருவன் வந்துநின்று: நீர் மக்கெதோனியாவிற்கு வந்து எங்களுக்கு உதவிசெய்யவேண்டும் என்று பவுலை வேண்டிக்கொண்டதாக இருந்தது.
10 And when he had seen the vision, straightway we sought to go forth into Macedonia, concluding that God had called us for to preach the gospel unto them.
௧0அந்த தரிசனத்தை அவன் கண்டபோது, அவர்களுக்கு நற்செய்தியைத் தெரிவிக்கும்படி கர்த்தர் எங்களை அழைத்தார் என்று நாங்கள் உறுதிப்படுத்திக்கொண்டு, உடனே மக்கெதோனியாவிற்குப் புறப்பட்டோம்.
11 Setting sail therefore from Troas, we made a straight course to Samothrace, and the day following to Neapolis;
௧௧நாங்கள் துரோவாவில் கப்பல் ஏறி, சாமோத்திராக்கே தீவிற்கும், மறுநாளிலே நெயாப்போலி பட்டணத்திற்கும் சென்று,
12 and from thence to Philippi, which is a city of Macedonia, the first of the district, a [Roman] colony: and we were in this city tarrying certain days.
௧௨அங்கிருந்து மக்கெதோனியா தேசத்து நாடுகளில் ரோமர்கள் குடியேறின பிலிப்பி பட்டணத்திற்கு வந்து, அந்தப் பட்டணத்திலே சிலநாட்கள் தங்கியிருந்தோம்.
13 And on the sabbath day we went forth without the gate by a river side, where we supposed there was a place of prayer; and we sat down, and spake unto the women which were come together.
௧௩ஓய்வுநாளில் நாங்கள் பட்டணத்திற்கு வெளியேபோய் ஆற்றின் அருகே வழக்கமாக ஜெபம்பண்ணுகிற இடத்தில் உட்கார்ந்து, அங்கே கூடிவந்த பெண்களுக்குப் போதித்தோம்.
14 And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, one that worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, to give heed unto the things which were spoken by Paul.
௧௪அப்பொழுது தியத்தீரா ஊரைச்சேர்ந்த விலையுயர்ந்த சிவப்பு கம்பளம் விற்கிறவளும் தேவனை வணங்குகிறவளுமாகிய லீதியாள் என்னும் பெயருள்ள ஒரு பெண் கேட்டுக்கொண்டிருந்தாள்; பவுல் சொன்னவைகளைக் கவனிப்பதற்காக கர்த்தர் அவள் இருதயத்தைத் திறந்தார்.
15 And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought us, saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide [there]. And she constrained us.
௧௫அவளும் அவள் குடும்பத்தில் உள்ளவர்களும் ஞானஸ்நானம் பெற்றப்பின்பு, அவள் எங்களைப் பார்த்து: நான் கர்த்தரிடத்தில் விசுவாசமுள்ளவளென்று நீங்கள் நினைத்தால், என் வீட்டிலே வந்து தங்கியிருங்கள் என்று எங்களை மிகவும் வேண்டிக் கேட்டுக்கொண்டாள்.
16 And it came to pass, as we were going to the place of prayer, that a certain maid having a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying.
௧௬நாங்கள் ஜெபம்பண்ணுகிற இடத்திற்குப் போகும்போது குறிசொல்லுகிற ஆவியினால், குறிசொல்லி தன் எஜமான்களுக்கு அதிக வருமானத்தை பெற்றுக்கொடுக்கும் ஒரு பெண் எங்களுக்கு எதிரே வந்தாள்.
17 The same following after Paul and us cried out, saying, These men are servants of the Most High God, which proclaim unto you the way of salvation.
௧௭அவள் பவுலையும் எங்களையும் பின்தொடர்ந்து வந்து: இந்த மனிதர்கள் உன்னதமான தேவனுடைய ஊழியக்காரர்கள், இரட்சிப்பின் வழியை நமக்குத் தெரிவிக்கிறவர்கள் என்று சத்தமாக சொன்னாள்.
18 And this she did for many days. But Paul, being sore troubled, turned and said to the spirit, I charge thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And it came out that very hour.
௧௮அவள் பல நாட்கள் இப்படியே செய்துவந்தாள். பவுல் கோபமடைந்து, திரும்பிப்பார்த்து: நீ இவளைவிட்டு வெளியே போ என்று இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவின் நாமத்தினாலே உனக்குக் கட்டளைக் கொடுக்கிறேன் என்று அந்த ஆவியுடனே சொன்னான்; அப்பொழுதே அந்த ஆவி அவளைவிட்டு வெளியேபோனது.
19 But when her masters saw that the hope of their gain was gone, they laid hold on Paul and Silas, and dragged them into the marketplace before the rulers,
௧௯அவளுடைய எஜமான்கள் தங்களுடைய வருமானத்திற்கான நம்பிக்கை போய்விட்டதால், பவுலையும் சீலாவையும் பிடித்து, சந்தைவெளியிலுள்ள அதிகாரிகளிடத்தில் இழுத்துக்கொண்டுபோனார்கள்.
20 and when they had brought them unto the magistrates, they said, These men, being Jews, do exceedingly trouble our city,
௨0அவர்களை அதிகாரிகளிடத்தில் ஒப்படைத்து: யூதர்களாகிய இந்த மனிதர்கள் நம்முடைய பட்டணத்தில் குழப்பம் உண்டாக்கி,
21 and set forth customs which it is not lawful for us to receive, or to observe, being Romans.
௨௧ரோமராகிய நாம் ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளவும் கடைபிடிக்கவும் முடியாத தவறான பழக்கவழக்கங்களைப் போதிக்கிறார்கள் என்றனர்.
22 And the multitude rose up together against them: and the magistrates rent their garments off them, and commanded to beat them with rods.
௨௨அப்பொழுது மக்கள் கூட்டம்கூடி, அவர்களுக்கு விரோதமாக வந்தார்கள். அதிகாரிகள் அவர்களுடைய ஆடைகளைக் கிழிக்கவும், அவர்களை அடிக்கவும் சொல்லி;
23 And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely:
௨௩அவர்களை அதிகமாக அடித்தபின்பு, சிறைச்சாலையிலே வைத்து அவர்களைப் பத்திரமாகக் காவல்காக்கும்படி சிறைச்சாலைக்காரனுக்குக் கட்டளைக் கொடுத்தார்கள்.
24 who, having received such a charge, cast them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks.
௨௪அவன் இப்படிப்பட்டக் கட்டளையைப் பெற்றுக்கொண்டு, அவர்களை உள்காவல் அறையிலே அடைத்து, அவர்கள் கால்களை அசைக்க முடியாதபடிக்கு தொழுமரத்தின் ஓட்டைகளில் மாட்டிவைத்தான்.
25 But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns unto God, and the prisoners were listening to them;
௨௫நடுராத்திரியிலே பவுலும் சீலாவும் ஜெபம்பண்ணி, தேவனைத் துதித்துப்பாடினார்கள்; காவலில் வைக்கப்பட்டவர்கள் அதைக்கேட்டுக்கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.
26 and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison-house were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened; and every one’s bands were loosed.
௨௬திடீரென்று சிறைச்சாலையின் அஸ்திபாரங்கள் அசையத்தக்கதாக பூமி மிகவும் அதிர்ந்தது; உடனே சிறைச்சாலை கதவுகளெல்லாம் திறந்தன; எல்லோருடைய கட்டுகளும் கழன்றுபோனது.
27 And the jailor being roused out of sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, drew his sword, and was about to kill himself, supposing that the prisoners had escaped.
௨௭சிறைச்சாலைக்காரன் தூக்கம் தெளிந்து, சிறைச்சாலையின் கதவுகள் திறந்திருப்பதைப் பார்த்து, கட்டப்பட்டு இருந்தவர்கள் ஓடிப்போனார்கள் என்று நினைத்து, வாளை எடுத்து தற்கொலை செய்துகொள்ளப்போனான்.
28 But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here.
௨௮அப்பொழுது, பவுல் சத்தமிட்டு: நீ உனக்கு எந்தத் தீங்கையும் செய்துகொள்ளாதே; நாங்கள் எல்லோரும் இங்குதான் இருக்கிறோம் என்றான்.
29 And he called for lights, and sprang in, and, trembling for fear, fell down before Paul and Silas,
௨௯அப்பொழுது அவன் தீபங்களைக் கொண்டுவரச்சொல்லி, உள்ளே ஓடிப்போய், நடுங்கி, பவுலுக்கும் சீலாவிற்கும் முன்பாக விழுந்து,
30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
௩0அவர்களை வெளியே கூட்டிக்கொண்டுவந்து: ஆண்டவன்மாரே, இரட்சிக்கப்படுவதற்கு நான் என்னசெய்யவேண்டும் என்றான்.
31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus, and thou shalt be saved, thou and thy house.
௩௧அதற்கு அவர்கள்: கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவை விசுவாசி, அப்பொழுது நீயும் உன் குடும்பத்தாரும் இரட்சிக்கப்படுவீர்கள் என்று சொல்லி,
32 And they spake the word of the Lord unto him, with all that were in his house.
௩௨அவனுக்கும் அவன் வீட்டிலிருந்த எல்லோருக்கும் கர்த்தருடைய வசனத்தைப் போதித்தார்கள்.
33 And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, immediately.
௩௩மேலும் அந்த இராத்திரி நேரத்திலே அவன் அவர்களை அழைத்துக்கொண்டுபோய், அவர்களுடைய காயங்களைக் கழுவினான். அவனும் அவனோடுகூட இருந்தவர்களும் உடனே ஞானஸ்நானம் பெற்றார்கள்.
34 And he brought them up into his house, and set meat before them, and rejoiced greatly, with all his house, having believed in God.
௩௪பின்பு அவன் அவர்களைத் தன் வீட்டிற்குக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டுபோய், அவர்களுக்கு உணவுகொடுத்து, தன் குடும்பத்தார் அனைவரோடும் தேவனிடத்தில் விசுவாசம் வைத்து மனமகிழ்ச்சியாக இருந்தான்.
35 But when it was day, the magistrates sent the serjeants, saying, Let those men go.
௩௫பொழுதுவிடிந்தபின்பு: அந்த மனிதர்களை விட்டுவிடுங்கள் என்று சொல்ல அதிகாரிகள் காவலர்களை அனுப்பினார்கள்.
36 And the jailor reported the words to Paul, [saying], The magistrates have sent to let you go: now therefore come forth, and go in peace.
௩௬சிறைச்சாலைக்காரன் பவுலுக்கு இந்த வார்த்தைகளை அறிவித்து: உங்களை விடுதலைசெய்யும்படி அதிகாரிகள் கட்டளைக் கொடுத்து அனுப்பியுள்ளார்கள்; எனவே நீங்கள் இப்பொழுது புறப்பட்டு சமாதானத்தோடு போங்கள் என்றான்.
37 But Paul said unto them, They have beaten us publicly, uncondemned, men that are Romans, and have cast us into prison; and do they now cast us out privily? nay verily; but let them come themselves and bring us out.
௩௭அதற்குப் பவுல்: ரோமராகிய எங்களை அவர்கள் நியாயம் விசாரிக்காமல், வெளிப்படையாக அடித்து, சிறைச்சாலையிலே போட்டார்கள்; இப்பொழுது இரகசியமாக எங்களை விடுதலை செய்கிறார்களோ? அப்படியல்ல, அவர்களே வந்து, எங்களை விடுதலைசெய்து வெளியே அனுப்பிவிடட்டும் என்றான்.
38 And the serjeants reported these words unto the magistrates: and they feared, when they heard that they were Romans;
௩௮காவலர்கள் இந்த வார்த்தைகளைச் சிறைச்சாலை அதிகாரிகளுக்குத் தெரிவித்தார்கள். அவர்கள் ரோமர்கள் என்று அதிகாரிகள் கேட்டபொழுது பயந்துவந்து,
39 and they came and besought them; and when they had brought them out, they asked them to go away from the city.
௩௯அவர்களோடு தயவாகப்பேசி, அவர்களை வெளியே அழைத்துக்கொண்டுபோய், பட்டணத்தைவிட்டுப் புறப்பட்டுப்போகும்படி கேட்டுக்கொண்டார்கள்.
40 And they went out of the prison, and entered into [the house of] Lydia: and when they had seen the brethren, they comforted them, and departed.
௪0அப்படியே அவர்கள் சிறைச்சாலையிலிருந்து புறப்பட்டு லீதியாளின் வீட்டிற்குப்போய், சகோதரர்களைப் பார்த்து, அவர்களுக்கு ஆறுதல் சொல்லிவிட்டு புறப்பட்டுப்போனார்கள்.
