Acts 14

1 And it came to pass in Iconium, that they entered together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spake, that a great multitude both of Jews and of Greeks believed.

ഇക്കോന്യയിൽ അവർ ഒരുമിച്ചു യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ പള്ളിയിൽ ചെന്നു യെഹൂദന്മാരിലും യവനന്മാരിലും വലിയോരു പുരുഷാരം വിശ്വസിപ്പാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം സംസാരിച്ചു.

2 But the Jews that were disobedient stirred up the souls of the Gentiles, and made them evil affected against the brethren.

വിശ്വസിക്കാത്ത യെഹൂദന്മാരോ ജാതികളുടെ മനസ്സു സഹോദരന്മാരുടെ നേരെ ഇളക്കി വഷളാക്കി.

3 Long time therefore they tarried [there] speaking boldly in the Lord, which bare witness unto the word of his grace, granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

എന്നാൽ അവർ വളരെക്കാലം അവിടെ പാൎത്തു, കൎത്താവിൽ ആശ്രയിച്ചു പ്രാഗത്ഭ്യത്തോടെ പ്രസംഗിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു; അവൻ തന്റെ കൃപയുടെ വചനത്തിന്നു സാക്ഷിനിന്നു, അവരുടെ കയ്യാൽ അടയാളങ്ങളും അത്ഭുതങ്ങളും ഉണ്ടാകുവാൻ വരം നല്കി.

4 But the multitude of the city was divided; and part held with the Jews, and part with the apostles.

എന്നാൽ പട്ടണത്തിലെ ജനസമൂഹം ഭിന്നിച്ചു ചിലർ യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ പക്ഷത്തിലും ചിലർ അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാരുടെ പക്ഷത്തിലും ആയി.

5 And when there was made an onset both of the Gentiles and of the Jews with their rulers, to entreat them shamefully, and to stone them,

അവരെ അവമാനിപ്പാനും കല്ലെറിവാനും ജാതികളും യെഹൂദന്മാരും അവിടത്തെ പ്രമാണികളോടുകൂടി ഒരു ആക്രമം ഭാവിച്ചപ്പോൾ അവർ അതു ഗ്രഹിച്ചു ലുസ്ത്ര,

6 they became aware of it, and fled unto the cities of Lycaonia, Lystra and Derbe, and the region round about:

ദെൎബ്ബ എന്ന ലുക്കവോന്യപട്ടണങ്ങളിലേക്കും ചുറ്റുമുള്ള ദേശത്തിലേക്കും

7 and there they preached the gospel.

ഓടിപ്പോയി അവിടെ സുവിശേഷം അറിയിച്ചുപോന്നു.

8 And at Lystra there sat a certain man, impotent in his feet, a cripple from his mother’s womb, who never had walked.

ലുസ്ത്രയിൽ അമ്മയുടെ ഗൎഭംമുതൽ മുടന്തനായി ഒരിക്കലും നടന്നിട്ടില്ലാതെയും കാലിന്നു ശക്തിയില്ലാതെയും ഉള്ളോരു പുരുഷൻ ഇരുന്നിരുന്നു.

9 The same heard Paul speaking: who, fastening his eyes upon him, and seeing that he had faith to be made whole,

അവൻ പൌലൊസ് സംസാരിക്കുന്നതു കേട്ടു; അവൻ അവനെ ഉറ്റു നോക്കി, സൌഖ്യം പ്രാപിപ്പാൻ അവന്നു വിശ്വാസമുണ്ടു എന്നു കണ്ടിട്ടു:

10 said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped up and walked.

നീ എഴുന്നേറ്റു കാലൂന്നി നിവിൎന്നുനിൽക്ക എന്നു ഉറക്കെ പറഞ്ഞു; അവൻ കുതിച്ചെഴുന്നേറ്റു നടന്നു

11 And when the multitudes saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voice, saying in the speech of Lycaonia, The gods are come down to us in the likeness of men.

പൌലൊസ് ചെയ്തതു പുരുഷാരം കണ്ടിട്ടു: ദേവന്മാർ മനുഷ്യരൂപത്തിൽ നമ്മുടെ അടുക്കൽ ഇറങ്ങിവന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ലുക്കവോന്യഭാഷയിൽ നിലവിളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു.

12 And they called Barnabas, Jupiter; and Paul, Mercury, because he was the chief speaker.

ബൎന്നബാസിന്നു ഇന്ദ്രൻ എന്നും പൌലൊസ് മുഖ്യപ്രസംഗിയാകയാൽ അവന്നു ബുധൻ എന്നു പേർവിളിച്ചു.

13 And the priest of Jupiter whose [temple] was before the city, brought oxen and garlands unto the gates, and would have done sacrifice with the multitudes.

പട്ടണത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പിലുള്ള ഇന്ദ്രക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പുരോഹിതൻ കാളകളെയും പൂമാലകളെയും ഗോപുരത്തിങ്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു പുരുഷാരത്തോടുകൂടെ യാഗം കഴിപ്പാൻ ഭാവിച്ചു.

14 But when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of it, they rent their garments, and sprang forth among the multitude, crying out

ഇതു അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാരായ ബൎന്നബാസും പൌലൊസും കേട്ടിട്ടു വസ്ത്രം കീറിക്കൊണ്ടു പുരുഷാരത്തിന്റെ ഇടയിലേക്കു ഓടിച്ചെന്നു നിലവിളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞതു:

15 and saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and bring you good tidings, that ye should turn from these vain things unto the living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea, and all that in them is:

പുരുഷന്മാരേ, നിങ്ങൾ ഈ ചെയ്യുന്നതു എന്തു? ഞങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങളോടു സമസ്വഭാവമുള്ള മനുഷ്യർ അത്രെ; നിങ്ങൾ ഈ വ്യൎത്ഥകാൎയ്യങ്ങളെ വിട്ടു, ആകാശവും ഭൂമിയും സമുദ്രവും അവയിലുള്ള സകലവും ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ ജീവനുള്ള ദൈവത്തിങ്കലേക്കു തിരിയേണം എന്നുള്ള സുവിശേഷം ഞങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങളോടു അറിയിക്കുന്നു.

16 who in the generations gone by suffered all the nations to walk in their own ways.

കഴിഞ്ഞ കാലങ്ങളിൽ അവൻ സകലജാതികളെയും സ്വന്ത വഴികളിൽ നടപ്പാൻ സമ്മതിച്ചു.

17 And yet he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave you from heaven rains and fruitful seasons, filling your hearts with food and gladness.

എങ്കിലും അവൻ നന്മചെയ്കയും ആകാശത്തുനിന്നു മഴയും ഫലപുഷ്ടിയുള്ള കാലങ്ങളും നിങ്ങൾക്കു തരികയും ആഹാരവും സന്തോഷവും നല്കി നിങ്ങളെ തൃപ്തരാക്കുകയും ചെയ്തുപോന്നതിനാൽ തന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു സാക്ഷ്യം തരാതിരുന്നിട്ടില്ല.

18 And with these sayings scarce restrained they the multitudes from doing sacrifice unto them.

അവർ ഇങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞു തങ്ങൾക്കു യാഗം കഴിക്കാതവണ്ണം പുരുഷാരത്തെ പ്രയാസത്തോടെ തടുത്തു.

19 But there came Jews thither from Antioch and Iconium: and having persuaded the multitudes, they stoned Paul, and dragged him out of the city, supposing that he was dead.

എന്നാൽ അന്ത്യൊക്ക്യയിൽ നിന്നും ഇക്കോന്യയിൽ നിന്നും യെഹൂദന്മാർ വന്നു കൂടി പുരുഷാരത്തെ വശത്താക്കി പൌലൊസിനെ കല്ലെറിഞ്ഞു; അവൻ മരിച്ചു എന്നു വിചാരിച്ചിട്ടു അവനെ പട്ടണത്തിന്നു പുറത്തേക്കു ഇഴെച്ചു കളഞ്ഞു.

20 But as the disciples stood round about him, he rose up, and entered into the city: and on the morrow he went forth with Barnabas to Derbe.

എന്നാൽ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ അവനെ ചുറ്റിനിൽക്കയിൽ അവൻ എഴുന്നേറ്റു പട്ടണത്തിൽ ചെന്നു; പിറ്റെന്നാൾ ബൎന്നബാസിനോടുകൂടെ ദെൎബ്ബെക്കു പോയി.

21 And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had made many disciples, they returned to Lystra, and to Iconium, and to Antioch,

ആ പട്ടണത്തിലും സുവിശേഷം അറിയിച്ചു പലരെയും ശിഷ്യരാക്കിയശേഷം അവർ ലുസ്ത്ര, ഇക്കോന്യ, അന്ത്യോക്യ എന്ന പട്ടണങ്ങളിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു,

22 confirming the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that through many tribulations we must enter into the kingdom of God.

വിശ്വാസത്തിൽ നില നിൽക്കേണം എന്നും നാം അനേകം കഷ്ടങ്ങളിൽകൂടി ദൈവരാജ്യത്തിൽ കടക്കേണ്ടതാകുന്നു എന്നും പ്രബോധിപ്പിച്ചു ശിഷ്യന്മാരുടെ മനസ്സു ഉറപ്പിച്ചു പോന്നു.

23 And when they had appointed for them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they had believed.

അവർ സഭതോറും അവൎക്കു മൂപ്പന്മാരെ നിയമിക്കയും ഉപവസിച്ചും പ്രാൎത്ഥിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു തങ്ങൾ വിശ്വസിച്ച കൎത്താവിങ്കൽ അവരെ ഭാരമേല്പിക്കയും ചെയ്തു.

24 And they passed through Pisidia, and came to Pamphylia.

അവർ പിസിദ്യയിൽകൂടി കടന്നു പംഫുല്യയിൽഎത്തി,

25 And when they had spoken the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia;

പെൎഗ്ഗയിൽവചനം പ്രസംഗിച്ചശേഷം അത്തല്യെക്കു പോയി

26 and thence they sailed to Antioch, from whence they had been committed to the grace of God for the work which they had fulfilled.

അവിടെ നിന്നു കപ്പൽ കയറി അന്ത്യൊക്ക്യയിലേക്കു പോയി; തങ്ങൾ നിവൎത്തിച്ച വേലക്കായി ദൈവകൃപയിൽ അവരെ ഭരമേല്പിച്ചയച്ചതു അവിടെനിന്നു ആയിരുന്നുവല്ലോ.

27 And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all things that God had done with them, and how that he had opened a door of faith unto the Gentiles.

അവിടെ എത്തിയശേഷം സഭയെ ഒരുമിച്ചു കൂട്ടി, ദൈവം തങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഇരുന്നു ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും ജാതികൾക്കു വിശ്വാസത്തിന്റെ വാതിൽ തുറന്നുകൊടുത്തതും അറിയിച്ചു.

28 And they tarried no little time with the disciples.

പിന്നെ അവൻ ശിഷ്യന്മാരോടുകൂടെ കുറെക്കാലം അവിടെ പാൎത്തു.
