Acts 12
1 Now about that time Herod the king put forth his hands to afflict certain of the church.
Ní àkókò ìgbà náà ni Herodu ọba sì nawọ́ rẹ̀ mú àwọn kan nínú ìjọ, pẹ̀lú èrò láti pọ́n wọn lójú.
2 And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.
Ó sì fi idà pa Jakọbu arákùnrin Johanu.
3 And when he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to seize Peter also. And [those] were the days of unleavened bread.
Nígbà tí ó sì rí pé èyí dùn mọ́ àwọn Júù nínú, ó sì nawọ́ mú Peteru pẹ̀lú. Ó sì jẹ́ ìgbà àjọ àìwúkàrà.
4 And when he had taken him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to guard him; intending after the Passover to bring him forth to the people.
Nígbà tí o sì mú un, ó fi i sínú túbú, ó fi lé àwọn ẹ̀ṣọ́ mẹ́rin ti ọmọ-ogun lọ́wọ́ láti máa ṣọ́ ọ. Herodu ń rò láti mú un jáde fún àwọn ènìyàn lẹ́yìn ìrékọjá fún ìdájọ́.
5 Peter therefore was kept in the prison: but prayer was made earnestly of the church unto God for him.
Nítorí náà wọn fi Peteru pamọ́ sínú túbú; ṣùgbọ́n ìjọ ń fi ìtara gbàdúrà sọ́dọ̀ Ọlọ́run fún un.
6 And when Herod was about to bring him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and guards before the door kept the prison.
Ní òru náà gan an ti Herodu ìbá sì mú un jáde, Peteru ń sùn láàrín àwọn ọmọ-ogun méjì, a fi ẹ̀wọ̀n méjì dè é, ẹ̀ṣọ́ sí wà ní ẹnu-ọ̀nà, wọ́n ń ṣọ́ túbú náà.
7 And behold, an angel of the Lord stood by him, and a light shined in the cell: and he smote Peter on the side, and awoke him, saying, Rise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.
Sì wò ó, angẹli Olúwa farahàn, ìmọ́lẹ̀ sì mọ́ nínú túbú; ó sì lu Peteru pẹ́pẹ́ lẹ́gbẹ̀ẹ́, ó jí i, ó ni, “Dìde kánkán!” Ẹ̀wọ̀n sí bọ́ sílẹ̀ kúrò ní ọwọ́ Peteru.
8 And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And he did so. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.
Angẹli náà sì wí fún un pé, “Di àmùrè rẹ̀, kí ó sì wọ sálúbàtà rẹ!” Peteru sì ṣe bẹ́ẹ̀. Ó sì wí fún un pé, “Da aṣọ rẹ́ bora, ki ó sì máa tọ̀ mí lẹ́yìn!”
9 And he went out, and followed; and he wist not that it was true which was done by the angel, but thought he saw a vision.
Peteru sì jáde, ó ń tọ̀ ọ́ lẹ́yìn; kò sí mọ̀ pé ohun tí a ṣe láti ọwọ́ angẹli náà jẹ́ òtítọ́, ṣùgbọ́n ó ṣe bí òun wà lójú ìran.
10 And when they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth into the city; which opened to them of its own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and straightway the angel departed from him.
Nígbà tí wọ́n kọjá ìṣọ́ èkínní àti èkejì, wọ́n dé ẹnu-ọ̀nà ìlẹ̀kùn irin tí ó lọ sí ìlú. Ó sí tìkára rẹ̀ ṣí sílẹ̀ fún wọn: wọ́n sì jáde, wọ́n ń gba ọ̀nà ìgboro kan lọ; lójúkan náà angẹli náà sì fi í sílẹ̀ lọ.
11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a truth, that the Lord hath sent forth his angel and delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.
Nígbà tí ojú Peteru sì wálẹ̀, ó ní, “Nígbà yìí ni mo tó mọ̀ nítòótọ́ pé, Olúwa rán angẹli rẹ̀, ó sì gbà mi lọ́wọ́ Herodu àti gbogbo ohun tí àwọn ènìyàn Júù ń retí!”
12 And when he had considered [the thing], he came to the house of Mary the mother of John whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together and were praying.
Nígbà tó sì rò ó, ó lọ sí ilé Maria ìyá Johanu, tí àpèlé rẹ̀ ń jẹ́ Marku; níbi tí àwọn ènìyàn púpọ̀ péjọ sí, tí wọn ń gbàdúrà.
13 And when he knocked at the door of the gate, a maid came to answer, named Rhoda.
Bí ó sì ti kan ìlẹ̀kùn ẹnu-ọ̀nà, ọmọbìnrin kan tí a n pè ní Roda wá láti dáhùn.
14 And when she knew Peter’s voice, she opened not the gate for joy, but ran in, and told that Peter stood before the gate.
Nígbà tí ó sì ti mọ ohùn Peteru, kò ṣí ìlẹ̀kùn nítorí tí ayọ̀ kún ọkàn rẹ̀ gidigidi, ṣùgbọ́n ó súré wọ ilé, ó sísọ pé, Peteru dúró ní ẹnu-ọ̀nà.
15 And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she confidently affirmed that it was even so. And they said, It is his angel.
Wọ́n sì wí fún un pé, “Ìwọ ń ṣe òmùgọ̀!” Ṣùgbọ́n ó tẹnumọ́ ọn gidigidi pé bẹ́ẹ̀ ni sẹ́. Wọn sì wí pé, “Angẹli rẹ̀ ni!”
16 But Peter continued knocking: and when they had opened, they saw him, and were amazed.
Ṣùgbọ́n Peteru ń kànkùn síbẹ̀, nígbà tí wọn sì ṣí ìlẹ̀kùn, wọ́n rí i, ẹnu sì yá wọ́n.
17 But he, beckoning unto them with the hand to hold their peace, declared unto them how the Lord had brought him forth out of the prison. And he said, Tell these things unto James, and to the brethren. And he departed, and went to another place.
Ṣùgbọ́n ó juwọ́ sí wọn pé kí wọn dákẹ́, ó sì ròyìn fún wọn bí Olúwa ti mú òun jáde kúrò nínú túbú. Ó sì wí pé, “Ẹ ro èyí fún Jakọbu àti àwọn arákùnrin yòókù!” Ó sì jáde, ó lọ sí ibòmíràn.
18 Now as soon as it was day, there was no small stir among the soldiers, what was become of Peter.
Nígbà tí ilẹ̀ sì mọ́, ìrúkèrúdò díẹ̀ kọ́ ni ó wà láàrín àwọn ọmọ-ogun nípa ohun tí ó dé bá Peteru.
19 And when Herod had sought for him, and found him not, he examined the guards, and commanded that they should be put to death. And he went down from Judaea to Caesarea, and tarried there.
Nígbà tí Herodu sì wá a kiri, tí kò sì rí i, ó wádìí àwọn ẹ̀ṣọ́, ó pàṣẹ pé, kí a pa wọ́n. Herodu sì sọ̀kalẹ̀ láti Judea lọ sí Kesarea, ó sì wà níbẹ̀ fún ìgbà díẹ̀.
20 Now he was highly displeased with them of Tyre and Sidon: and they came with one accord to him, and, having made Blastus the king’s chamberlain their friend, they asked for peace, because their country was fed from the king’s country.
Herodu sí ń bínú gidigidi sí àwọn ará Tire àti Sidoni; ṣùgbọ́n wọ́n fi ìmọ̀ ṣọ̀kan wá sọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀, nígbà tí wọn sì ti tu Bilasitu ìwẹ̀fà ọba lójú, wọn ń bẹ̀bẹ̀ fún àlàáfíà, nítorí pé ìlú ọba náà ni ìlú tí wọ́n ti ń gba oúnjẹ.
21 And upon a set day Herod arrayed himself in royal apparel, and sat on the throne, and made an oration unto them.
Ni ọjọ́ àfiyèsí kan, Herodu sì wà nínú aṣọ ìgúnwà rẹ̀, ni orí ìtẹ́ rẹ̀, ó sì ń bá àwọn àjọ ènìyàn sọ̀rọ̀ ní gbangba.
22 And the people shouted, [saying], The voice of a god, and not of a man.
Àwọn ènìyàn sì hó wí pé, “Ohùn ọlọ́run ni èyí, kì í sì í ṣe ti ènìyàn!”
23 And immediately an angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.
Lójúkan náà, nítorí ti Herodu kò fi ògo fún Ọlọ́run, angẹli Olúwa lù ú, ó sì kú, ìdin sì jẹ ẹ́.
24 But the word of God grew and multiplied.
Ṣùgbọ́n ọ̀rọ̀ Ọlọ́run gbilẹ̀, ó sì bí sí i.
25 And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem, when they had fulfilled their ministration, taking with them John whose surname was Mark.
Barnaba àti Saulu sì padà wá láti Jerusalẹmu, nígbà ti wọ́n sì parí iṣẹ́ ìránṣẹ́ wọn, wọn sì mú Johanu ẹni tí àpèlé rẹ̀ ń jẹ́ Marku wá pẹ̀lú wọn.
