< 2 Samuel 1 >

1 And it came to pass after the death of Saul, when David was returned from the slaughter of the Amalekites, and David had abode two days in Ziklag;
Lẹ́yìn ikú Saulu, Dafidi ti ibi tí ó ti ṣẹ́gun àwọn ará Amaleki bọ̀, ó sì dúró ní Siklagi ní ọjọ́ méjì.
2 it came even to pass on the third day, that, behold, a man came out of the camp from Saul with his clothes rent, and earth upon his head: and so it was, when he came to David, that he fell to the earth, and did obeisance.
Ní ọjọ́ kẹta, ọkùnrin kan dé láti ibi ibùdó Saulu, pẹ̀lú aṣọ rẹ̀ tí ó ti ya; àti erùpẹ̀ ní orí rẹ̀. Nígbà tí ó dé ọ̀dọ̀ Dafidi, ó wólẹ̀ fún un láti bu ọlá fún un.
3 And David said unto him, From whence comest thou? And he said unto him, Out of the camp of Israel am I escaped.
Dafidi sì béèrè pé, “Ibo ni ìwọ ti wá?” “Èmi sá láti ibùdó àwọn ọmọ Israẹli.”
4 And David said unto him, How went the matter? I pray thee, tell me. And he answered, The people are fled from the battle, and many of the people also are fallen and dead; and Saul and Jonathan his son are dead also.
Dafidi béèrè pé, “Kí ni ó ṣẹlẹ̀?” “Sọ fún mi.” Ó wí pé, “Àwọn ọkùnrin náà sá láti ojú ogun. Ọ̀pọ̀ wọn ṣubú, wọ́n sì kú. Saulu àti ọmọ rẹ̀ ọkùnrin Jonatani sì kú pẹ̀lú.”
5 And David said unto the young man that told him, How knowest thou that Saul and Jonathan his son be dead?
Nígbà náà, ní Dafidi sọ fún ọ̀dọ́mọkùnrin tí ó mú ìròyìn wá fún un pé, “Báwo ni o ṣe mọ̀ pé Saulu àti ọmọkùnrin rẹ̀ Jonatani ti kú.”
6 And the young man that told him said, As I happened by chance upon mount Gilboa, behold, Saul leaned upon his spear; and, lo, the chariots and the horsemen followed hard after him.
Ọ̀dọ́mọkùnrin náà sọ pé, “Mo wà ní orí òkè Gilboa níbẹ̀ ni Saulu fi ara tí ọkọ̀ rẹ̀, àwọn kẹ̀kẹ́ àti ẹlẹ́ṣin sì ń lépa rẹ̀.
7 And when he looked behind him, he saw me, and called unto me. And I answered, Here am I.
Nígbà tí ó wò yíká, tí ó rí mí, ó pè mi, mo sì wí pé, ‘Kí ni mo lè ṣe?’
8 And he said unto me, Who art thou? And I answered him, I am an Amalekite.
“Ó bi mí wí pé, ‘Ta ni ìwọ?’ “Mo dáhùn pé, ‘Ará a Amaleki.’
9 And he said unto me, Stand, I pray thee, beside me, and slay me, for anguish hath taken hold of me; because my life is yet whole in me.
“Nígbà náà ó wí fún mi pé, ‘Dúró lórí ì mi kí o sì pa mí! Èmi wà nínú ìrora ikú, ṣùgbọ́n mo wà láààyè.’
10 So I stood beside him, and slew him, because I was sure that he could not live after that he was fallen: and I took the crown that was upon his head, and the bracelet that was on his arm, and have brought them hither unto my lord.
“Nígbà náà, mo dúró lórí i rẹ̀, mo sì pa á nítorí mo mọ̀ wí pé, lẹ́yìn ìgbà tí ó ti ṣubú, kò le è yè mọ́. Mo sì mú adé tí ó wà lórí rẹ̀, idẹ tí ó wà ní apá a rẹ̀, mo sì kó wọn wá síbí fún olúwa mi.”
11 Then David took hold on his clothes, and rent them; and likewise all the men that were with him:
Nígbà náà ni, Dafidi àti gbogbo àwọn tí ó wà pẹ̀lú rẹ̀, di aṣọ wọn mú, wọ́n sì fà á ya.
12 and they mourned, and wept, and fasted until even, for Saul, and for Jonathan his son, and for the people of the LORD, and for the house of Israel; because they were fallen by the sword.
Wọ́n ṣọ̀fọ̀, wọ́n sì sọkún, wọ́n sì gbààwẹ̀ títí di ìrọ̀lẹ́ fún Saulu àti ọmọ rẹ̀ Jonatani àti fún àwọn ọmọ-ogun Olúwa, àti fún àwọn ilé Israẹli, nítorí wọ́n ti ṣubú nípa idà.
13 And David said unto the young man that told him, Whence art thou? And he answered, I am the son of a stranger, an Amalekite.
Dafidi sọ fún ọkùnrin tí ó mú ìròyìn wá fún un pé, “Níbo ni ó ti wá?” O dáhùn pé, “Ọmọ àlejò ni mo jẹ́, ará Amaleki.”
14 And David said unto him, How wast thou not afraid to put forth thine hand to destroy the LORD’S anointed?
Dafidi béèrè lọ́wọ́ rẹ̀ pé, “Kí ni ó dé tí ìwọ kò fi bẹ̀rù láti gbé ọwọ́ rẹ̀ sókè láti fi pa ẹni àmì òróró Olúwa?”
15 And David called one of the young men, and said, Go near, and fall upon him. And he smote him that he died.
Nígbà náà Dafidi pe ọ̀kan nínú ọkùnrin, ó sì wí pé, “Lọ, gbé e lulẹ̀!” Nígbà náà ó gbé e lulẹ̀, ó sì kú.
16 And David said unto him, Thy blood be upon thy head; for thy mouth hath testified against thee, saying, I have slain the LORD’S anointed.
Nítorí Dafidi wí fún un pé, “Ẹ̀jẹ̀ rẹ yóò wà lórí ara rẹ, nítorí ẹnu ara rẹ ni o fi sọ pé, ‘Mo pa ẹni àmì òróró Olúwa.’”
17 And David lamented with this lamentation over Saul and over Jonathan his son:
Dafidi sì fi orin ọ̀fọ̀ yìí ṣọ̀fọ̀ lórí Saulu àti lórí Jonatani ọmọ rẹ̀,
18 And he bade them teach the children of Judah [the song of] the bow: behold, it is written in the book of Jashar.
Ó sì pàṣẹ pé kí a kọ́ àwọn ọkùnrin Juda ní orin arò yìí tí ó jẹ́ ti ọrun (a kọ ọ́ sí inú ìwé Jaṣari):
19 Thy glory, O Israel, is slain upon thy high places! how are the mighty fallen!
“Ògo rẹ, Israẹli ni a pa ní òkè gíga rẹ. Wò bí àwọn alágbára ṣe ń ṣubú!
20 Tell it not in Gath, publish it not in the streets of Ashkelon; lest the daughters of the Philistines rejoice, lest the daughters of the uncircumcised triumph.
“Ẹ má ṣe sọ ọ́ ní Gati, ẹ má ṣe kéde rẹ̀ ní òpópónà Aṣkeloni, kí àwọn ọmọbìnrin Filistini má bá à yọ̀, kí àwọn ọmọbìnrin aláìkọlà má ba à dunnú.
21 Ye mountains of Gilboa, let there be no dew nor rain upon you, neither fields of offerings: for there the shield of the mighty was vilely cast away, the shield of Saul, not anointed with oil.
“Ẹ̀yin òkè Gilboa, kí ẹ̀yin kí ó má ṣe rí ìrì tàbí òjò, tàbí oko tí ó mú èso ọrẹ wá. Nítorí ibẹ̀ ni asà alágbára ti ṣègbé, asà Saulu, bí ẹni pé a kò fi òróró yàn án.
22 From the blood of the slain, from the fat of the mighty, the bow of Jonathan turned not back, and the sword of Saul returned not empty.
“Ọrun Jonatani kì í padà bẹ́ẹ̀ ni idà Saulu kì í padà lásán, láì kan ẹ̀jẹ̀ àwọn tí a pa, àti ẹran àwọn alágbára.
23 Saul and Jonathan were lovely and pleasant in their lives, and in their death they were not divided; they were swifter than eagles, they were stronger than lions.
Saulu àti Jonatani— ní ọjọ́ ayé, wọ́n fẹ́ràn ara, wọn sì dùn, ní ikú, wọn kò sì yà ara wọ́n. Wọ́n yára ju idì lọ, wọ́n lágbára ju kìnnìún lọ.
24 Ye daughters of Israel, weep over Saul, who clothed you in scarlet delicately, who put ornaments of gold upon your apparel.
“Ẹ̀yin ọmọbìnrin Israẹli, ẹ sọkún lórí Saulu, ẹni tí ó fi aṣọ ọ̀gbọ̀ dáradára wọ̀ yín, ẹni tí ó fi wúrà sí ara aṣọ yín.
25 How are the mighty fallen in the midst of the battle! Jonathan is slain upon thy high places.
“Wò ó bí alágbára ti ṣubú ní ojú ogun! Jonatani, ìwọ tí a pa ní òkè gíga.
26 I am distressed for thee, my brother Jonathan: very pleasant hast thou been unto me: thy love to me was wonderful, passing the love of women.
Ọkàn mi gbọgbẹ́ fún ọ Jonatani arákùnrin mi; ìwọ ṣọ̀wọ́n fún mi. Ìfẹ́ rẹ sí mi jẹ́ ìyanu, ó jẹ́ ìyanu ju ti obìnrin lọ.
27 How are the mighty fallen, and the weapons of war perished!
“Wò ó bí alágbára ti ṣubú! Ohun ìjà sì ti ṣègbé!”
