< 2 Samuel 12 >
1 And the LORD sent Nathan unto David. And he came unto him, and said unto him, There were two men in one city; the one rich, and the other poor.
Awo Mukama n’atuma Nasani eri Dawudi amugambe nti, “Waaliwo abasajja babiri mu kibuga ekimu, omu nga mugagga, omulala nga mwavu.
2 The rich man had exceeding many flocks and herds:
Omugagga yalina ebisibo by’endiga bingi n’ente nnyingi;
3 but the poor man had nothing, save one little ewe lamb, which he had bought and nourished up: and it grew up together with him, and with his children; it did eat of his own morsel, and drank of his own cup, and lay in his bosom, and was unto him as a daughter.
naye omwavu nga taliiko bw’ali wabula yalina omwana gw’endiga gumu nga muluusi gwe yagula. N’alabirira omwana gw’endiga ogwo, ne gukula n’abaana be, ne gugabananga ku mmere ye, ne gunyweranga wamu naye, era n’aguleranga. Gwali ng’omwana we owoobuwala gy’ali.
4 And there came a traveller unto the rich man, and he spared to take of his own flock and of his own herd, to dress for the wayfaring man that was come unto him, but took the poor man’s lamb, and dressed it for the man that was come to him.
“Lwali lumu ne wajja omutambuze eri nnaggagga, naye nnaggagga oyo n’atayagala kuddira emu ku ndiga ze oba nte ze okuteekerateekera omutambuze oyo ekyokulya. Kyeyava addira omwana gw’endiga guli ogw’omwavu n’aguteekerateekera omugenyi we.”
5 And David’s anger was greatly kindled against the man; and he said to Nathan, As the LORD liveth, the man that hath done this is worthy to die:
Awo Dawudi n’asunguwalira nnyo omusajja nnaggagga, n’ayogera nti, “Mukama nga bw’ali omulamu, omusajja akoze ekintu bwe kityo ateekwa
6 and he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity.
okusasula emirundi ena olw’ekikolwa ekyo, kubanga talina kusaasira, era asaanira attibwe.”
7 And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul;
Nasani n’agamba Dawudi nti, “Omusajja oyo ye ggwe. Bw’ati bw’ayogera Mukama, Katonda wa Isirayiri nti, ‘Nakufukako amafuta okuba kabaka wa Isirayiri, ne nkulokola mu mukono gwa Sawulo,
8 and I gave thee thy master’s house, and thy master’s wives into thy bosom, and gave thee the house of Israel and of Judah; and if that had been too little, I would have added unto thee such and such things.
ne nkuwa ennyumba ya mukama wo, ne nkukwasa ne bakyala ba mukama wo, ne nkuwa ennyumba ya Isirayiri ne Yuda; ebyo singa byali tebimala nandikwongedde bingi n’okusingawo.
9 Wherefore hast thou despised the word of the LORD, to do that which is evil in his sight? thou hast smitten Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast taken his wife to be thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon.
Kiki ekikunyoomezza ekigambo kya Mukama, n’okukola n’okola ekibi bwe kityo mu maaso ge? Watta Uliya Omukiiti n’ekitala, n’otwala mukyala we n’omufuula owuwo.’
10 Now therefore, the sword shall never depart from thine house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife.
Wamutta n’ekitala eky’Abaana ba Amoni. Noolwekyo ekitala tekiriva mu nnyumba yo, kubanga onnyoomye n’otwala mukyala wa Uliya Omukiiti n’omufuula owuwo.
11 Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give them unto thy neighbour, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun.
“Bw’ati bw’ayogera Mukama nti, ‘Laba, ndireeta ekikolimo mu nnyumba yo, ne nzirira bakyala bo ng’olaba ne mbawa muliraanwa wo, ne yeebaka nabo emisana.
12 For thou didst it secretly: but I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun.
Wakikola mu kyama, naye nze ndikikola mu maaso ga Isirayiri yenna, emisana.’”
13 And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the LORD. And Nathan said unto David, The LORD also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die.
Awo Dawudi n’agamba Nasani nti, “Nnyonoonye Mukama.” Nasani n’addamu nti, “Kale, Mukama aggyeewo ekyonoono kyo era toofe.
14 Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die.
Naye olw’ekikolwa ekyo, oleetedde abalabe ba Mukama okumunyooma, omwana anaakuzaalirwa kyanaava afa.”
15 And Nathan departed unto his house. And the LORD struck the child that Uriah’s wife bare unto David, and it was very sick.
Nasani bwe yaddayo eka, Mukama n’alwaza nnyo omwana muka wa Uliya gwe yazaala.
16 David therefore besought God for the child; and David fasted, and went in, and lay all night upon the earth.
Dawudi ne yeegayirira Katonda ku lw’omwana, n’asiiba, n’agenda mu nnyumba ye n’amala ekiro kyonna nga yeebase wansi.
17 And the elders of his house arose, [and stood] beside him, to raise him up from the earth: but he would not, neither did he eat bread with them.
Abakadde ab’ennyumba ye ne bagendanga gy’ali, okumuwaliriza asituke, alye ne ku mmere, naye n’agaana.
18 And it came to pass on the seventh day, that the child died. And the servants of David feared to tell him that the child was dead: for they said, Behold, while the child was yet alive, we spake unto him, and he hearkened not unto our voice: how will he then vex himself, if we tell him that the child is dead?
Ku lunaku olw’omusanvu omwana n’afa. Naye abaddu ba Dawudi ne batya okumutegeeza nti omwana afudde, nga bagamba, nti, “Omwana bwe yali omulamu twagezaako okwogera naye, n’atatuwuliriza, olwo binaabeera bitya bwe tunaamubuulira nti omwana afudde? Ayinza okutabukira ddala.”
19 But when David saw that his servants whispered together, David perceived that the child was dead: and David said unto his servants, Is the child dead? And they said, He is dead.
Naye Dawudi n’alaba abaddu be nga boogera obwama, n’ategeera nti omwana afudde. N’ababuuza nti, “Omwana afudde?” Ne baddamu nti, “Afudde.”
20 Then David arose from the earth, and washed, and anointed himself, and changed his apparel; and he came into the house of the LORD, and worshipped: then he came to his own house; and when he required they set bread before him, and he did eat.
Awo Dawudi n’ava wansi, n’anaabako, ne yeerongoosa, n’akyusa ebyambalo bye, n’alaga mu nnyumba ya Mukama n’asinza. Oluvannyuma n’addayo mu nnyumba ye, n’asaba emmere, n’alya.
21 Then said his servants unto him, What thing is this that thou hast done? thou didst fast and weep for the child, while it was alive; but when the child was dead, thou didst rise and eat bread.
Abaddu be ne bamubuuza nti, “Kiki ekyo ky’okola? Omwana bwe yali omulamu, wasiiba n’okaaba, naye kati afudde, ogolokose, olya!”
22 And he said, While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept: for I said, Who knoweth whether the LORD will not be gracious to me, that the child may live?
N’addamu nti, “Omwana we yabeerera omulamu, n’asiiba ne nkaaba, nga ndowooza nti, ‘Ani amanyi, Mukama ayinza okunsaasira, omwana n’aba mulamu?’
23 But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.
Naye kaakano afudde, kiki ekinsiibya? Nkyayinza okumukomyawo? Nze ndigenda gy’ali, naye ye talikomawo gye ndi.”
24 And David comforted Bath-sheba his wife, and went in unto her, and lay with her: and she bare a son, and he called his name Solomon. And the LORD loved him;
Awo Dawudi n’akubagiza mukyala we Basuseba, ne yeetaba naye, n’aba olubuto, n’azaala omwana wabulenzi, ne bamutuuma Sulemaani, Mukama n’amwagala,
25 and he sent by the hand of Nathan the prophet, and he called his name Jedidiah, for the LORD’S sake.
era olw’okwagala okwo, Mukama kyeyava atuma Nasani nnabbi n’amutuuma Yedidiya, amakulu nti ayagalibwa Mukama.
26 Now Joab fought against Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and took the royal city.
Mu biro ebyo Yowaabu n’alwana n’abaana ba Amoni, n’awamba Labba ekibuga kyabwe ekikulu.
27 And Joab sent messengers to David, and said, I have fought against Rabbah, yea, I have taken the city of waters.
Yowaabu n’atumira Dawudi nti, “Nnumbye Labba, era n’amazzi gaabwe ngasazeeko.
28 Now therefore gather the rest of the people together, and encamp against the city, and take it: lest I take the city, and it be called after my name.
Kaakano kuŋŋaanya eggye lyonna, otabaale ekibuga ekikulu, okiwambe, nga sinnaba kukitwala, ne kituumibwa erinnya lyange.”
29 And David gathered all the people together, and went to Rabbah, and fought against it, and took it.
Awo Dawudi n’akuŋŋaanya eggye lyonna n’ayolekera Labba, n’akirumba era n’akiwamba.
30 And he took the crown of their king from off his head; and the weight thereof was a talent of gold, and [in it were] precious stones; and it was set on David’s head. And he brought forth the spoil of the city, exceeding much.
N’addira engule eyali eya kabaka waabwe, obuzito bwayo kilo asatu mu nnya eza zaabu, nga mu yo baateekamu amayinja ag’omuwendo, n’agyetikkira ku mutwe gwe. N’atwala n’omunyago mungi ddala okuva mu kibuga.
31 And he brought forth the people that were therein, and put them under saws, and under harrows of iron, and under axes of iron, and made them pass through the brickkiln: and thus did he unto all the cities of the children of Ammon. And David and all the people returned unto Jerusalem.
N’aggya abantu abaali mu kibuga, n’abatwala okuba abapakasi; ne bakozesanga emisomeeno, n’ensuuluulu, n’embazzi, n’abalala ne babumbanga amatoffaali. Mu ngeri y’emu n’akozesanga abantu ab’ebibuga byonna eby’abaana ba Amoni. Oluvannyuma Dawudi n’eggye lye lyonna, ne baddayo e Yerusaalemi.
