< 2 Kings 18 >
1 Now it came to pass in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign.

2 Twenty and five years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Abi the daughter of Zechariah.

3 And he did that which was right hi the eyes of the LORD, according to all that David his father had done.

4 He removed the high places, and brake the pillars, and cut down the Asherah: And he brake in pieces the brasen serpent that Moses had made; for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it; and he called it Nehushtan.
Hezekia gbã nuxeƒe siwo nɔ toawo dzi kple woƒe aƒeliwo. Eho aƒeliwo, hegbã akɔblida si Mose wɔ eye wona ŋkɔe be Nehustan elabena va se ɖe fifia la, Israelviwo gadoa dzudzɔ nɛ.
5 He trusted in the LORD, the God of Israel; so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor [among them] that were before him.
Exɔ Yehowa, Israel ƒe Mawu la dzi se kple dzi blibo eye fia siwo do ŋgɔ nɛ kple esiwo kplɔe ɖo la dometɔ aɖeke menɔ Yehowa ŋu kplikplikpli kpɔ abe eya ene o.
6 For he clave to the LORD, he departed not from following him, but kept his commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses.
Elé ɖe Yehowa ŋu eye megbugbɔ le eyome o. Elé se siwo katã Yehowa de na Mose la me ɖe asi.
7 And the LORD was with him; whithersoever he went forth he prospered: and he rebelled against the king of Assyria, and served him not.
Yehowa nɔ kplii eye wòna nu sia nu si wòwɔ la dze edzi nɛ. Etso ɖe Asiria fia ŋu eye mesubɔe o.
8 He smote the Philistines unto Gaza and the borders thereof, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city.
Hezekia ɖu Filistitɔwo dzi tso gbetakpɔxɔ dzi va se ɖe du siwo woɖo gli ƒo xlãe la dzi; eɖu Filistitɔwo dzi yi ɖe Gaza kple eƒe nutowo me ke.
9 And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Hezekiah, which was the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria, and besieged it.
Le eƒe fiaɖuɖu ƒe ƒe enelia si nye Fia Hosea, Ela vi, ƒe fiaɖuɖu le Israel ƒe ƒe adrelia me la, Asiria fia, Salmaneser, ho aʋa ɖe Israel ŋu eye wòɖe to ɖe Samaria du la.
10 And at the end of three years they took it: even in the sixth year of Hezekiah, which was the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel, Samaria was taken.

11 And the king of Assyria carried Israel away unto Assyria, and put them in Halah, and in Habor, [on] the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes:
Ɣe ma ɣie Asiria fia ɖe aboyo Israelviwo yi Asiria eye wòda wo ɖe Hala du la me kple teƒe siwo le Habor tɔsisi la to le Gozan kple Mediatɔwo ƒe duwo me.
12 because they obeyed not the voice of the LORD their God, but transgressed his covenant, even all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded, and would not hear it, nor do it.
Eva eme alea elabena Israelviwo gbe toɖoɖo Yehowa, woƒe Mawu la eye womewɔ nu si wòdi be woawɔ la o, ke boŋ woda le eƒe nubabla la dzi eye wogbe se siwo katã Mose, Yehowa ƒe dɔla de na wo la dzi wɔwɔ.
13 Now in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah did Sennacherib king of Assyria come up against all the fenced cities of Judah, and took them.
Emegbe le Fia Hezekia ƒe fiaɖuɖu ƒe ƒe wuienelia me la, Asiria fia, Senakerib ɖe to ɖe Yuda du siwo katã woglã la eye wòɖu wo dzi.
14 And Hezekiah king of Judah sent to the king of Assyria to Lachish, saying, I have offended; return from me: that which thou puttest on me will I bear. And the king of Assyria appointed unto Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold.

15 And Hezekiah gave [him] all the silver that was found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king’s house.
Hena ga home sia kpɔkpɔ la, Fia Hezekia dzra klosalo si wodzra ɖo ɖe gbedoxɔ la kple fiasã la ƒe nudzraɖoƒewo me.
16 At that time did Hezekiah cut off [the gold from] the doors of the temple of the LORD, and [from] the pillars which Hezekiah king of Judah had overlaid, and gave it to the king of Assyria.
Etsɔ sika si wofa ɖe gbedoxɔ la ƒe ʋɔtruwo ŋu kple esi eya ŋutɔ fa ɖe ʋɔtrutiwo ŋu gɔ̃ hã la katã na Asiria fia.
17 And the king of Assyria sent Tartan and Rab-saris and Rabshakeh from Lachish to king Hezekiah with a great army unto Jerusalem. And they went up and came to Jerusalem. And when they were come up, they came and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is in the highway of the fuller’s field.

18 And when they had called to the king, there came out to them Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household, and Shebnah the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder.
Wobia tso Fia Hezekia si be wòava ƒo nu kple yewo, ke Hezekia ɖo Eliakim, Hilkia ƒe vi si nye eƒe asitsanyawo dzi kpɔla, Sebna, eƒe nuŋlɔla kple Yoa, Asaf ƒe vi, dukɔwo ƒe ŋutinyanyala ɖa be woabia ŋutifafa.
19 And Rabshakeh said unto them, Say ye now to Hezekiah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence is this wherein thou trustest?
Aʋafia la gblɔ na wo be, “Gblɔ na Hezekia be, “Ale Asiria fia, fiagã la gblɔe nye esi: ‘Nu ka dzie nètu wò dzideƒo sia ɖo?
20 Thou sayest, but they are but vain words, [There is] counsel and strength for the war. Now on whom dost thou trust, that thou hast rebelled against me?
Ègblɔ be, aʋawɔmɔnuwo kple aʋawɔwɔ ƒe ŋusẽ le ye si, ke nya dzodzrowo ko gblɔm nèle. Ame ka ŋue nèle ŋu ɖom ɖo hafi dze aglã ɖe ŋunye?
21 Now, behold, thou trustest upon the staff of this bruised reed, even upon Egypt; whereon if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt unto all that trust on him.
Kpɔ ɖa, azɔ la, èle ŋu ɖom ɖe Egipte ŋu, Egipte si nye aƒla ŋeŋe si tɔa asi na ame, dea abi ame ŋu ne èziɔ ɖe eŋu. Nenema tututue Farao, Egipte fia le ɖe ame sia ame si ɖoa ŋu ɖe eŋu la ŋuti.
22 But if ye say unto me, We trust in the LORD our God: is not that he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and hath said to Judah and to Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem?
Ne ègblɔ be, “Míele ŋu ɖom ɖe Yehowa, míaƒe Mawu la ŋu” la, ɖe menye eya ƒe nuxeƒewo kple vɔsamlekpuiwoe Hezekia gbã, hegblɔ na Yuda kple Yerusalem be, “Ele na mi be miasubɔ le vɔsamlekpui sia ŋgɔ le Yerusalem” oa?
23 Now therefore, I pray thee, give pledges to my master the king of Assyria, and I will give thee two thousand horses, if thou be able on thy part to set riders upon them.
“‘Va azɔ ne nàtso gbe kple nye aƒetɔ Asiria fia. Matsɔ sɔ akpe eve na wò ne àte ŋu akpɔ wo dolawo ko!
24 How then canst thou turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master’s servants, and put thy trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?
Togbɔ be nèle dzi ɖom ɖe Egipte ŋu be wòana tasiaɖamwo kple sɔdolawo wò hã la, aleke nàte ŋu awɔ aɖu nye aƒetɔ ƒe aʋafiawo dometɔ suetɔ gɔ̃ hã dzi?
25 Am I now come up without the LORD against this place to destroy it? The LORD said unto me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.
Gawu la, ɖe meva be madze teƒe sia dzi atsrɔ̃e ne nyemexɔ gbe tso Yehowa gbɔ oa? Yehowa ŋutɔe gblɔ nam be mava ƒo ɖe dukɔ sia dzi ne matsrɔ̃e.’”
26 Then said Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, and Shebnah, and Joah, unto Rabshakeh, Speak, I pray thee, to thy servants in the Syrian language; for we understand it: and speak not with us in the Jews’ language, in the ears of the people that are on the wall.
Eliakim, Hilkia ƒe vi, Sebna kple Yoa gblɔ na wo be, “Míeɖe kuku ƒo nu na mí le Aramgbe me elabena míese Aramgbe. Migaƒo nu na mí le Hebrigbe me o: ame siwo le glia dzi la ava se míaƒe nyawo.”
27 But Rabshakeh said unto them, Hath my master sent me to thy master, and to thee, to speak these words? [hath he not sent me] to the men which sit on the wall, to eat their own dung, and to drink their own water with you?
Ke Asiriatɔwo ƒe aʋafia la ɖo eŋu be, “Ɖe nye aƒetɔ ɖom ɖa be maƒo nu na mi kple miaƒe aƒetɔ koa? Ɖe meɖom ɖe ame siwo le glia dzi la hã gbɔ oa? Elabena evɔ na wo abe miawo ke ene. Woaɖu woawo ŋutɔ ƒe afɔdzi eye woano woawo ŋutɔ ƒe aɖuɖɔ!”
28 Then Rabshakeh stood, and cried with a loud voice in the Jews’ language, and spake, saying, Hear ye the word of the great king, the king of Assyria.

29 Thus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you; for he shall not be able to deliver you out of his hand:
Ale fia la gblɔe nye esi, migana Hezekia nable mi o. Mate ŋu aɖe mi tso nye asi me o!
30 neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, The LORD will surely deliver us, and this city shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.
Migana Hezekia nable mia nu be, miɖo dzi ɖe Yehowa ŋu o, esime wògblɔ be, ‘Yehowa aɖe mi godoo; womatsɔ du sia ade asi na Asiria fia o.’
31 Hearken not to Hezekiah: for thus saith the king of Assyria, Make your peace with me, and come out to me; and eat ye every one of his vine, and every one of his fig tree, and drink ye every one the waters of his own cistern;
“Migaɖo to Fia Hezekia o. Nya si Asiria fia gblɔe nye esi: Miwɔ ŋutifafa kplim eye miava gbɔnye. Ekema mia dometɔ ɖe sia ɖe aɖu nu tso eya ŋutɔ ƒe wain kple gboti me eye wòano tsi tso eya ŋutɔ ƒe vudo me
32 Until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of corn and wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of oil olive and of honey, that ye may live, and not die: and hearken not unto Hezekiah, when he persuadeth you, saying, The LORD will deliver us.

33 Hath any of the gods of the nations ever delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
Dukɔ bubu aɖe ƒe mawuwo ɖe eƒe amewo tso Asiria fia ƒe asi me kpɔa?
34 Where are the gods of Hamath, and of Arpad? where are the gods of Sepharvaim, of Hena, and Ivvah? have they delivered Samaria out of my hand?
Nya kae dzɔ ɖe Hamat, Arpad, Sefarvaim, Hena kple Iva ƒe mawuwo dzi? Ɖe woɖe Samaria?
35 Who are they among all the gods of the countries, that have delivered their country out of my hand, that the LORD should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?
Ke mawuwo dometɔ kawoe le dukɔ siawo katã me si te ŋu ɖe eƒe anyigba tso nye asi me kpɔ hafi Yehowa ya ate ŋu aɖe Yerusalem tso nye asi me?”
36 But the people held their peace, and answered him not a word: for the king’s commandment was, saying, Answer him not.
Ke ame siwo nɔ glia dzi la meke nu o, elabena woƒe fia de se na wo be, womegagblɔ nya aɖeke o.
37 Then came Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder, to Hezekiah, with their clothes rent, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.
Azɔ la, Eliakim, Hilkia ƒe vi, asitsanyawo dzikpɔla la kple Sebna, fia ƒe nuŋlɔla kple Yoa, Asaf ƒe vi, dukɔwo ƒe ŋutinyanyala dze woƒe awuwo eye woyi Fia Hezekia gbɔ hegblɔ nya siwo Asiriatɔwo ƒe aʋafia la gblɔ na wo la nɛ.
