2 Kings 18
1 Now it came to pass in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign.
১এলাৰ পুত্ৰ ইস্ৰায়েলৰ ৰজা হোচেয়াৰ ৰাজত্বৰ তৃতীয় বছৰত, যিহূদাৰ ৰজা আহজৰ পুত্ৰ হিষ্কিয়াই ৰাজত্ব কৰিবলৈ আৰম্ভ কৰিছিল।
2 Twenty and five years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Abi the daughter of Zechariah.
২তেওঁ পঁচিশ বছৰ বয়সত ৰজা হৈছিল আৰু যিৰূচালেমত ঊনত্ৰিশ বছৰ ৰাজত্ব কৰিছিল; তেওঁৰ মাকৰ নাম আছিল অবী। তেওঁ জখৰীয়াৰ জীয়েক আছিল।
3 And he did that which was right hi the eyes of the LORD, according to all that David his father had done.
৩হিষ্কিয়াই তেওঁৰ পূর্বপুৰুষ দায়ুদে কৰাৰ দৰেই যিহোৱাৰ দৃষ্টিত যি ভাল সেই সকলোকে কৰিছিল।
4 He removed the high places, and brake the pillars, and cut down the Asherah: And he brake in pieces the brasen serpent that Moses had made; for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it; and he called it Nehushtan.
৪তেওঁ ওখ ঠাইৰ মঠবোৰ আতৰালে, স্তম্ভবোৰ ভাঙি পেলালে আৰু আচেৰা মুৰ্ত্তিবোৰ কাটি পেলালে। মোচিয়ে নিৰ্ম্মাণ কৰা পিতলৰ সাপটো তেওঁ ডোখৰ ডোখৰ কৈ ভাঙি পেলালে, কিয়নো সেই কালত ইস্ৰায়েলী লোকসকলে তাৰ উদ্দেশ্যে ধূপ জ্বলাইছিল। পিতলৰ সাপটোৰ নাম “নহুষ্টন” ৰখা হৈছিল।
5 He trusted in the LORD, the God of Israel; so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor [among them] that were before him.
৫হিষ্কিয়াই ইস্ৰায়েলৰ ঈশ্বৰ যিহোৱাৰ ওপৰত ভাৰসা কৰিছিল। তেওঁৰ আগত বা পাছত যিহূদাৰ ৰজাসকলৰ মাজত তেওঁৰ নিচিনা কোনো নাছিল।
6 For he clave to the LORD, he departed not from following him, but kept his commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses.
৬যিহোৱাৰ লগত তেওঁ লাগি আছিল আৰু তেওঁৰ পাছত চলিবলৈ এৰা নাছিল। যিহোৱাই মোচিক যি যি আজ্ঞা দিছিল, সেই সকলো তেওঁ পালন কৰিছিল।
7 And the LORD was with him; whithersoever he went forth he prospered: and he rebelled against the king of Assyria, and served him not.
৭সেয়ে যিহোৱা তেওঁৰ সঙ্গে সঙ্গে আছিল; তেওঁ য’লৈকে গৈছিল, তাতেই তেওঁ সফল হৈছিল; তেওঁ অচূৰৰ ৰজাৰ বিৰুদ্ধে বিদ্ৰোহ কৰিছিল আৰু তেওঁৰ অধীনত থাকিবলৈ অস্বীকাৰ কৰিছিল।
8 He smote the Philistines unto Gaza and the borders thereof, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city.
৮তেওঁ গাজা আৰু তাৰ চাৰিসীমালৈকে, প্রহৰীসকলৰ ওখ মিনাৰৰ পৰা গড়েৰে আবৃত নগৰলৈকে বসবাস কৰা পলেষ্টীয়াসকলক আক্রমণ কৰি পৰাজয় কৰিছিল।
9 And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Hezekiah, which was the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria, and besieged it.
৯যিহূদাৰ ৰজা হিষ্কিয়াৰ ৰাজত্বৰ চতুৰ্থ বছৰত, অৰ্থাৎ এলাৰ পুত্ৰ ইস্রায়েলৰ ৰজা হোচেয়াৰ ৰাজত্বৰ সপ্তম বছৰত, অচূৰৰ ৰজা চল্মনেচৰে চমৰিয়াৰ বিৰুদ্ধে আহি নগৰখন অৱৰোধ কৰিলে।
10 And at the end of three years they took it: even in the sixth year of Hezekiah, which was the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel, Samaria was taken.
১০তিনি বছৰ অৱৰোধ কৰি ৰখাৰ পাছত হিষ্কিয়াৰ ৰাজত্বৰ ছয় বছৰত আৰু ইস্ৰায়েলৰ ৰজা হোচেয়াৰ ৰাজত্বৰ নৱম বছৰত অচূৰে চমৰিয়া দখল কৰি ল’লে।
11 And the king of Assyria carried Israel away unto Assyria, and put them in Halah, and in Habor, [on] the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes:
১১অচূৰৰ ৰজাই ইস্ৰায়েলী লোকসকলক বন্দী কৰি অচূৰ দেশলৈ লৈ গ’ল আৰু হলহ, হাবোৰ নদীৰ পাৰৰ গোজন এলেকা আৰু মাদীয়াসকলৰ নগৰবোৰত তেওঁলোকক বাস কৰিবলৈ দিলে।
12 because they obeyed not the voice of the LORD their God, but transgressed his covenant, even all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded, and would not hear it, nor do it.
১২এইসকলো ঘটিছিল, কাৰণ ইস্রায়েলীসকলে তেওঁলোকৰ ঈশ্বৰ যিহোৱাৰ বাক্য পালন কৰা নাছিল, বৰং যিহোৱাৰ বিধান, অৰ্থাৎ যিহোৱাৰ দাস মোচিৰ সকলো আজ্ঞা তেওঁলোকে অমান্য কৰিছিল। তেওঁলোকে তাক শুনিবলৈ বা পালন কৰিবলৈও ইচ্ছা কৰা নাছিল।
13 Now in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah did Sennacherib king of Assyria come up against all the fenced cities of Judah, and took them.
১৩যিহূদাৰ ৰজা হিষ্কিয়াৰ ৰাজত্বৰ চৈধ্য বছৰত, অচূৰৰ ৰজা চনহেৰীবে যিহূদাৰ সকলো গড়েৰে আবৃত নগৰবোৰ আক্রমণ কৰি সেইবোৰ অধিকাৰ কৰি ল’লে।
14 And Hezekiah king of Judah sent to the king of Assyria to Lachish, saying, I have offended; return from me: that which thou puttest on me will I bear. And the king of Assyria appointed unto Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold.
১৪তাতে যিহূদাৰ ৰজা হিষ্কিয়াই লাখীচত থকা অচূৰৰ ৰজাৰ ওচৰলৈ এই বুলি কৈ পঠালে, “মই অপৰাধ কৰিলোঁ; আপুনি মোৰ ৰাজত্বৰ পৰা উলটি যাওঁক; আপুনি যি বিচাৰিব মই তাক দিবলৈ প্রস্তুত আছোঁ।” তাতে অচূৰৰ ৰজাই যিহূদাৰ ৰজা হিষ্কিয়াৰ পৰা তিনিশ কিক্কৰ ৰূপ আৰু ত্ৰিশ কিক্কৰ সোণ দাবী কৰিলে।
15 And Hezekiah gave [him] all the silver that was found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king’s house.
১৫সেয়ে, ৰজা হিষ্কিয়াই যিহোৱাৰ গৃহ আৰু ৰাজভঁৰালত যিমান ৰূপ আছিল, সকলোবোৰ তেওঁক দিলে।
16 At that time did Hezekiah cut off [the gold from] the doors of the temple of the LORD, and [from] the pillars which Hezekiah king of Judah had overlaid, and gave it to the king of Assyria.
১৬তাৰ পাছত যিহূদাৰ ৰজা হিষ্কিয়াই যিহোৱাৰ মন্দিৰৰ দুৱাৰ আৰু স্তম্ভবোৰৰ পৰা সোণৰ পতাবোৰ এৰুৱাই সেইবোৰ অচূৰৰ ৰজাক দি দিলে।
17 And the king of Assyria sent Tartan and Rab-saris and Rabshakeh from Lachish to king Hezekiah with a great army unto Jerusalem. And they went up and came to Jerusalem. And when they were come up, they came and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is in the highway of the fuller’s field.
১৭তথাপিও, অচূৰৰ ৰজাই লাখীচৰ পৰা তৰ্তন, ৰবচাৰীচ, আৰু ৰবচাকিক বহু সৈন্যসামন্তৰে সৈতে যিৰূচালেমলৈ হিষ্কিয়া ৰজাৰ ওচৰলৈ পঠালে। তেওঁলোকে যাত্ৰা কৰি আহি যিৰূচালেমৰ ওচৰ পাই ওখ ঠাইৰ পুখুৰীৰ পানী বৈ অহা নলাৰ ফালে আগবাঢ়ি গৈ ঘাইপথৰ ধোবাসকলৰ পথাৰৰ কাষত থিয় হ’ল।
18 And when they had called to the king, there came out to them Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household, and Shebnah the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder.
১৮তেওঁলোকে যেতিয়া ৰজা হিষ্কিয়াক মাতি পঠালে; ৰাজগৃহৰ পৰা ঘৰগিৰী হিল্কিয়াৰ পুত্ৰ ইলিয়াকীম, ৰাজ লিখক চেবনা আৰু ইতিহাস লিখক আচফৰ পুত্ৰ যোৱাই তেওঁলোকক সাক্ষাৎ কৰিবলৈ বাহিৰ ওলাই গ’ল।
19 And Rabshakeh said unto them, Say ye now to Hezekiah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence is this wherein thou trustest?
১৯ৰবচাকিয়ে তেওঁলোকক ক’লে, ৰজা হিষ্কিয়াক গৈ কওঁক যে, মহাৰাজাধিৰাজ অর্থাৎ অচূৰৰ ৰজাই কৈছে, “আপোনাৰ আস্থাভাজনৰ উৎস কি?
20 Thou sayest, but they are but vain words, [There is] counsel and strength for the war. Now on whom dost thou trust, that thou hast rebelled against me?
২০আপুনি কেৱল এনে অর্থহীন কথাবোৰ কয় যে, আপোনাৰ যুদ্ধ কৰাৰ যথেষ্ট বুদ্ধি আৰু শক্তি আছে। এতিয়া আপুনি কাৰ ওপৰত ভাৰসা কৰি মোৰ অহিতে বিদ্ৰোহ কৰিছে আৰু কোনে আপোনাক সাহস দিছে?
21 Now, behold, thou trustest upon the staff of this bruised reed, even upon Egypt; whereon if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt unto all that trust on him.
২১চাওঁক, আপুনিতো মিচৰৰ ওপৰত, অর্থাৎ সেই থেঁতেলা খোৱা নলৰ লাখুটিত নির্ভৰ কৰিছে; কোনোৱে সেই নলৰ লাখুটিৰ ওপৰত ভৰ দিলে, সিটো ভাঙিবই, তাৰ আঁহও তেওঁৰ হাতত ফুটি সোমাব। মিচৰৰ ৰজা ফৰৌণত নির্ভৰ কৰা সকলৰ কাৰণে তেওঁ তেনেকুৱাই হয়।
22 But if ye say unto me, We trust in the LORD our God: is not that he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and hath said to Judah and to Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem?
২২কিন্তু আপোনালোকে যদি মোক কয় যে, ‘আমি আমাৰ ঈশ্বৰ যিহোৱাতহে ভাৰসা কৰিছোঁ,’ তেন্তে তেওঁ জানো সেইজনা ঈশ্বৰ নহয় যি জনৰ ওখ ঠাইৰ মঠবোৰ আৰু যজ্ঞবেদীবোৰ হিষ্কিয়াই দূৰ কৰি যিহূদা আৰু যিৰূচালেমৰ লোকসকলক কৈছিল, ‘আপোনালোকে যিৰূচালেমত এই যজ্ঞবেদীৰ সন্মুখত উপাসনা কৰিব লাগে?’
23 Now therefore, I pray thee, give pledges to my master the king of Assyria, and I will give thee two thousand horses, if thou be able on thy part to set riders upon them.
২৩এতিয়া সেয়ে শুনক, মই মোৰ প্ৰভু অচূৰৰ ৰজাৰ পৰা আপোনালৈ এক চুক্তি আগবঢ়াব বিচাৰো। যদি আপুনি অশ্বাৰোহী দিবলৈ সমর্থ হয়, তেন্তে মই আপোনাক দুই হাজাৰ ঘোঁৰা দিম।
24 How then canst thou turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master’s servants, and put thy trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?
২৪যদি ইয়াকে কৰিব নোৱাৰে, তেন্তে মোৰ প্ৰভুৰ দাসবোৰৰ মাজৰ সকলোতকৈ সৰু সেনাপতি এজনকেইবা আপুনি কেনেকৈ বাধা দি ৰাখিব পাৰিব? আপুনি ৰথ ও অশ্বাৰোহীসকলৰ কাৰণে মিচৰৰ ওপৰত ভাৰসা কৰিছে!
25 Am I now come up without the LORD against this place to destroy it? The LORD said unto me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.
২৫তাৰ উপৰি, মই জানো যিহোৱাৰ অবিহনেই এই ঠাইৰ অহিতে যুজঁ দিবলৈ আৰু তাক বিনষ্ট কৰিবলৈ আহিছোঁ? যিহোৱাই মোক কৈছিল, ‘তুমি সেই দেশৰ অহিতে উঠি গৈ তাক বিনষ্ট কৰা’।”
26 Then said Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, and Shebnah, and Joah, unto Rabshakeh, Speak, I pray thee, to thy servants in the Syrian language; for we understand it: and speak not with us in the Jews’ language, in the ears of the people that are on the wall.
২৬তেতিয়া হিল্কিয়াৰ পুত্ৰ ইলিয়াকীম, চেবনা আৰু যোৱাহে ৰবচাকিক ক’লে, “বিনয় কৰোঁ, আপোনাৰ দাসবোৰৰ লগত আপুনি অৰামীয়া ভাষাৰে কথা কওঁক, কাৰণ আমি তাক বুজি পাওঁ; কিন্তু গড়ৰ ওপৰত থিয় হৈ থকা লোকসকলে শুনিব পৰাকৈ আপুনি আমাৰ লগত ইব্ৰী ভাষাৰে কথা নক’ব।”
27 But Rabshakeh said unto them, Hath my master sent me to thy master, and to thee, to speak these words? [hath he not sent me] to the men which sit on the wall, to eat their own dung, and to drink their own water with you?
২৭কিন্তু ৰবচাকিয়ে তেওঁলোকক ক’লে, “মোৰ প্ৰভুৱে কেৱল আপোনালোকৰ প্ৰভু আৰু আপোনালোকৰ ওচৰলৈকে এই সকলো কথা ক’বলৈ জানো মোক পঠাইছে? তেওঁ জানো গড়ৰ ওপৰত বহা সেই সকলো লোক, যিসকলে আপোনালোকৰ দৰেই বিষ্ঠা আৰু প্রস্রাৱ খাব লাগিব, তেওঁলোকৰ ওচৰলৈকো মোক পঠোৱা নাই?”
28 Then Rabshakeh stood, and cried with a loud voice in the Jews’ language, and spake, saying, Hear ye the word of the great king, the king of Assyria.
২৮তেতিয়া ৰবচাকিয়ে থিয় হৈ অতি উচ্চস্বৰে ইব্ৰী ভাষাৰে ক’লে, “আপোনালোকে মহাৰাজাধিৰাজ অর্থাৎ অচূৰৰ ৰজাৰ কথা শুনক;
29 Thus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you; for he shall not be able to deliver you out of his hand:
২৯ৰজাই এইদৰে কৈছে, ‘হিষ্কিয়া ৰজাই যেন আপোনালোকক প্রতাৰণা নকৰে; কিয়নো মোৰ অধিকাৰৰ পৰা আপোনালোকক ৰক্ষা কৰিবলৈ তেওঁৰ সাধ্য নাই।
30 neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, The LORD will surely deliver us, and this city shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.
৩০হিষ্কিয়াই যেন এই কথা কৈ যিহোৱাৰ ওপৰত আপোনালোকক ভাৰসা নিদিয়ে যে, “যিহোৱাই আমাক অৱশ্যেই উদ্ধাৰ কৰিব; অচূৰৰ ৰজাৰ হাতত এই নগৰ কেতিয়াও শোধাই নিদিব।”
31 Hearken not to Hezekiah: for thus saith the king of Assyria, Make your peace with me, and come out to me; and eat ye every one of his vine, and every one of his fig tree, and drink ye every one the waters of his own cistern;
৩১আপোনালোকে হিষ্কিয়াৰ কথা নুশুনিব। কিয়নো অচূৰৰ ৰজাই এইদৰে কৈছে, ‘আপোনালোকে মোৰে সৈতে সন্ধি কৰক আৰু বাহিৰ হৈ মোৰ ওচৰলৈ আহঁক; তাতে আপোনালোক সকলোৱে নিজৰ নিজৰ দ্ৰাক্ষালতা আৰু ডিমৰু গছৰ পৰা ফল খাব পাৰিব আৰু নিজৰ কুৱাঁৰ পানীও খাব পাৰিব।
32 Until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of corn and wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of oil olive and of honey, that ye may live, and not die: and hearken not unto Hezekiah, when he persuadeth you, saying, The LORD will deliver us.
৩২মই উলটি আহি আপোনালোকক আপোনালোকৰ নিজৰ দেশৰ দৰে শস্য আৰু নতুন দ্রাক্ষাৰসৰ দেশ, অন্ন আৰু দ্ৰাক্ষাবাৰীবোৰৰ দেশ, জিতগছ আৰু মধু থকা এখন দেশলৈ লৈ যাম; তাত আপোনালোকৰ মৃত্যু নহ’ব, কিন্তু জীয়াই থাকিব।’ হিষ্কিয়াই যেতিয়া আপোনালোকক এই কথা কৈ ফুচুলাব বিচাৰে যে, ‘যিহোৱাই আপোনালোকক উদ্ধাৰ কৰিব,’ তেতিয়া আপোনালোকে তেওঁৰ কথা নুশুনিব।
33 Hath any of the gods of the nations ever delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
৩৩আন আন জাতিৰ দেৱতাবোৰে জানো অচূৰৰ ৰজাৰ হাতৰ পৰা তেওঁলোকক উদ্ধাৰ কৰিছে?
34 Where are the gods of Hamath, and of Arpad? where are the gods of Sepharvaim, of Hena, and Ivvah? have they delivered Samaria out of my hand?
৩৪হমাত আৰু অৰ্পদৰ দেৱতাবোৰ ক’ত আছে? চফৰ্বয়িম, হেনা আৰু ইব্বাৰ দেৱতাবোৰ ক’ত আছে? তেওঁলোকে জানো মোৰ হাতৰ পৰা চমৰিয়াক উদ্ধাৰ কৰিলে?
35 Who are they among all the gods of the countries, that have delivered their country out of my hand, that the LORD should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?
৩৫সেই দেশবোৰৰ সকলো দেৱতাৰ মাজত এনে কোনো দেৱতা আছে যেয়ে মোৰ অধিকাৰৰ পৰা নিজৰ দেশ উদ্ধাৰ কৰিলে; যিহোৱাইনো মোৰ শক্তিৰ পৰা যিৰূচালেমক কেনেকৈ উদ্ধাৰ কৰিব পাৰিব?”
36 But the people held their peace, and answered him not a word: for the king’s commandment was, saying, Answer him not.
৩৬কিন্তু লোকসকল মনে মনে থাকিল; তেওঁলোকে তেওঁক এটি কথাৰো উত্তৰ নিদিলে; কিয়নো ৰজাই এনে আজ্ঞা দিছিল, “আপোনালোকে তেওঁক উত্তৰ নিদিব।”
37 Then came Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder, to Hezekiah, with their clothes rent, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.
৩৭তাৰ পাছত ৰাজগৃহৰ ঘৰগিৰী হিল্কিয়াৰ পুত্ৰ ইলিয়াকীম, ৰাজলিখক চেবনা আৰু ইতিহাস-লিখক আচফৰ পুত্ৰ যোৱাহে নিজৰ কাপোৰ ফালি হিষ্কিয়াৰ ওচৰলৈ গ’ল আৰু ৰবচাকিৰ কথা জনালে।
