2 Chronicles 28

1 Ahaz was twenty years old when he began to reign; and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: and he did not that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, like David his father:

১আহসের বয়স কুড়ি বছর ছিল যখন তিনি রাজত্ব করতে শুরু করেছিলেন এবং তিনি যিরূশালেমে ষোল বছর রাজত্ব করেছিলেন। তিনি তাঁর পূর্বপুরুষ দায়ূদ যেমন করেছিলেন তেমন সদাপ্রভুর চোখে যা ভাল তা তিনি করতেন না।

2 but he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, and made also molten images for the Baalim.

২তিনি ইস্রায়েলের রাজাদের মতই চলতেন এবং বাল দেবতার জন্য তিনি ছাঁচে ঢেলে মূর্ত্তি তৈরী করিয়েছিলেন।

3 Moreover he burnt incense in the valley of the son of Hinnom, and burnt his children in the fire, according to the abominations of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.

৩তিনি বিন্‌-হিন্নোমের ছেলের উপত্যকাতে ধূপ জ্বালাতেন এবং সদাপ্রভু যে সব জাতিকে ইস্রায়েলীয়দের সামনে থেকে দূর করে দিয়েছিলেন তাদের জঘন্য কাজের মতই তিনিও তাঁর ছেলেদের আগুনে পুড়িয়ে হোম উৎসর্গ করলেন।

4 And he sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree.

৪তিনি উঁচু জায়গা গুলোতে, পাহাড়ের উপরে ও প্রত্যেকটি ডালপালা ছড়ানো সবুজ গাছের নীচে পশু উৎসর্গ করতেন ও ধূপ জ্বালাতেন।

5 Wherefore the LORD his God delivered him into the hand of the king of Syria; and they smote him, and carried away of his a great multitude of captives, and brought them to Damascus. And he was also delivered into the hand of the king of Israel, who smote him with a great slaughter.

৫সেইজন্যই আহসের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু তাঁকে অরামের রাজার হাতে তুলে দিলেন। অরামীয়েরা তাঁকে হারিয়ে দিল এবং তাঁর অনেক লোককে বন্দী করে দামেশকে নিয়ে গেল। আবার তিনি ইস্রায়েলের রাজার হাতেও আহসকে তুলে দিল। ইস্রায়েলের রাজা তাঁর অনেক লোককে মেরে ফেললেন।

6 For Pekah the son of Remaliah slew in Judah an hundred and twenty thousand in one day, all of them valiant men; because they had forsaken the LORD, the God of their fathers.

৬কারণ রমলিয়ের ছেলে ইস্রায়েলের রাজা পেকহ একদিনের র মধ্যে যিহূদায় এক লক্ষ কুড়ি হাজার সাহসী সৈন্যকে মেরে ফেললেন, কারণ যিহূদার লোকেরা তাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুকে ত্যাগ করেছিল।

7 And Zichri, a mighty man of Ephraim, slew Maaseiah the king’s son, and Azrikam the ruler of the house, and Elkanah that was next to the king.

৭আর সিখ্রি নামে একজন ইফ্রয়িমীয় শক্তিশালী যোদ্ধা রাজার ছেলে মাসেয়কে ও রাজবাড়ীর ভার পাওয়া কর্মচারী অস্রীকামকে এবং রাজার পরে দ্বিতীয় জায়গা যিনি ছিলেন সেই ইলকানাকে মেরে ফেলল।

8 And the children of Israel carried away captive of their brethren two hundred thousand, women, sons, and daughters, and took also away much spoil from them, and brought the spoil to Samaria.

৮ইস্রায়েলীয়েরা তাদের জাতি ভাইদের মধ্য থেকে স্ত্রীলোক ও ছেলে মেয়েদের বন্দী করে নিয়ে গেল। তাদের সংখ্যা ছিল দুই লক্ষ। তারা অনেক জিনিসও লুট করে শমরিয়াতে নিয়ে গেল।

9 But a prophet of the LORD was there, whose name was Oded: and he went out to meet the host that came to Samaria, and said unto them, Behold, because the LORD, the God of your fathers, was wroth with Judah, he hath delivered them into your hand, and ye have slain them in a rage which hath reached up unto heaven.

৯কিন্তু সেখানে ওদেদ নামে সদাপ্রভুর একজন ভাববাদী ছিলেন। সৈন্যদল যখন শমরিয়াতে ফিরে আসছিল তখন তিনি তাদের সঙ্গে দেখা করতে গেলেন এবং তাদের বললেন, “আপনাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু যিহূদার উপর ভীষণ অসন্তুষ্ট হয়েছেন বলে তিনি তাদের আপনাদের হাতে তুলে দিয়েছেন। কিন্তু রাগের চোটে আপনারা তাদের যেভাবে মেরে ফেলেছেন সেই কথা স্বর্গ পর্যন্ত পৌঁছেছে।

10 And now ye purpose to keep under the children of Judah and Jerusalem for bondmen and bondwomen unto you: [but] are there not even with you trespasses of your own against the LORD your God?

১০আর এখন আপনারা যিহূদা ও যিরূশালেমের লোকদের আপনাদের দাস দাসী করে রাখতে চাইছেন। কিন্তু আপনাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর কাছে কি আপনারাও দোষী নন?

11 Now hear me therefore, and send back the captives, which ye have taken captive of your brethren: for the fierce wrath of the LORD is upon you.

১১এখন আপনারা আমার কথা শুনুন। আপনাদের জাতি ও ভাইদের মধ্য থেকে যাদের আপনারা বন্দী করে নিয়ে এসেছেন তাদের আপনারা ফেরত পাঠিয়ে দিন, কারণ সদাপ্রভুর ভয়ঙ্কর ক্রোধ আপনাদের উপরে রয়েছে।”

12 Then certain of the heads of the children of Ephraim, Azariah the son Johanan, Berechiah the son of Meshillemoth, and Jehizkiah the son of Shallum, and Amasa the son of Hadlai, stood up against them that came from the war,

১২তখন ইফ্রয়িমের কয়েকজন নেতা যেমন সেই নেতারা হলেন যিহোহাননের ছেলে অসরিয়, মশিল্লেমোতের ছেলে বেরিখিয়, শল্লুমের ছেলে যিহিষ্কিয় ও হদ্‌লয়ের ছেলে অমাসা এরা যুদ্ধ থেকে যারা ফিরে আসছিল তাদের বিরুদ্ধে দাঁড়ালেন।

13 and said unto them, Ye shall not bring in the captives hither: for ye purpose that which will bring upon us a trespass against the LORD, to add unto our sins and to our trespass: for our trespass is great, and there is fierce wrath against Israel.

১৩তাঁরা তাদের বললেন, “ঐ বন্দীদের তোমরা এখানে আনবে না কারণ আমাদের পাপ ও দোষ সবার থেকে বেশি; আনলে আমরা সদাপ্রভুর কাছে দোষী হব। আমাদের পাপ ও দোষের সঙ্গে কি তোমরা আরও কিছু যোগ দিতে চাও? আমরা তো ভীষণভাবে দোষী হয়েই রয়েছি আর সদাপ্রভুর ভয়ঙ্কর ক্রোধ ইস্রায়েলের উপর রয়েছে।”

14 So the armed men left the captives and the spoil before the princes and all the congregation.

১৪তখন সৈন্যেরা সেই নেতাদের ও সমস্ত লোকদের সামনে সেই বন্দীদের ও লুটের জিনিসগুলো রাখল।

15 And the men which have been expressed by name rose up, and took the captives, and with the spoil clothed all that were naked among them, and arrayed them, and shod them, and gave them to eat and to drink, and anointed them, and carried all the feeble of them upon asses, and brought them to Jericho, the city of palm trees, unto their brethren: then they returned to Samaria.

১৫পরে সেই লোকেরা লুটের জিনিস থেকে কাপড় চোপড় নিয়ে বন্দীদের মধ্যে যারা উলঙ্গ ছিল তাদের সবাইকে কাপড় পরালেন। তাঁরা তাদের কাপড় চোপড়, জুতা ও খাবার দিলেন এবং তাদের আঘাতের উপর তেল ঢেলে দিলেন। এবং দুর্বলদের তাঁরা গাধার উপর চড়িয়ে যিরীহোতে, অর্থাৎ খেজুর শহরে তাদের নিজের লোকদের কাছে ফিরিয়ে নিয়ে গেলেন। পরে তাঁরা শমরিয়াতে ফিরে গেলেন।

16 At that time did king Ahaz send unto the kings of Assyria to help him.

১৬সেই দিন রাজা আহস সাহায্য চাইবার জন্য অশূর রাজার কাছে লোক পাঠালেন।

17 For again the Edomites had come and smitten Judah, and carried away captives.

১৭এর কারণ হল, ইদোমীয়েরা আবার এসে যিহূদা আক্রমণ করে লোকদের বন্দী করে নিয়ে গিয়েছিল।

18 The Philistines also had invaded the cities of the lowland, and of the South of Judah, and had taken Beth-shemesh, and Aijalon, and Gederoth, and Soco with the towns thereof, and Timnah with the towns thereof, Gimzo also and the towns thereof: and they dwelt there.

১৮এদিকে আবার পলেষ্টীয়েরা তখন নীচু পাহাড়ী এলাকার গ্রামগুলোতে এবং যিহূদার দক্ষিণে অঞ্চলের নগরগুলি আক্রমণ করে নেগেভে হানা দিয়েছিল বৈৎ-শেমশ, অয়ালোন, গদেরোৎ এবং আশেপাশের জায়গা সুদ্ধ সোখো, তিম্না ও গিম্‌সো অধিকার করে নিয়ে সেই সব জায়গায় বাস করছিল।

19 For the LORD brought Judah low because of Ahaz king of Israel; for he had dealt wantonly in Judah, and trespassed sore against the LORD.

১৯কারণ রাজা আহসের জন্য সদাপ্রভু যিহূদাকে নীচু করেছিলেন, কারণ আহস যিহূদায় মন্দতা বৃদ্ধি পেতে দিয়েছিলেন এবং নিজে সদাপ্রভুর প্রতি খুব বেশী পাপ করেছিলেন।

20 And Tilgath-pilneser king of Assyria came unto him, and distressed him, but strengthened him not.

২০আরে অশূর রাজা তিগ্লৎ পিলনেষর তাঁর কাছে এসেছিলেন কিন্তু তিনি শক্তি বৃদ্ধির বদলে আহসকে কষ্টই দিলেন।

21 For Ahaz took away a portion out of the house of the LORD, and out of the house of the king and of the princes, and gave it unto the king of Assyria: but it helped him not.

২১তখন আহস সদাপ্রভুর ঘর থেকে এবং রাজবাড়ী থেকে এবং নেতাদের কাছ থেকে কিছু দামী জিনিসপত্র নিয়ে অশূর রাজাকে উপহার দিলেন, কিন্তু তাতে কিছু লাভ হল না।

22 And in the time of his distress did he trespass yet more against the LORD, this same king Ahaz.

২২তাঁর এই কষ্টের দিনের এই একই রাজা আহস সদাপ্রভুর প্রতি আরও বেশী পাপ করলেন।

23 For he sacrificed unto the gods of Damascus, which smote him: and he said, Because the gods of the kings of Syria help them, [therefore] will I sacrifice to them, that they may help me. But they were the ruin of him, and of all Israel.

২৩কারণ দম্মেশকের যে দেবতারা তাঁকে হারিয়ে দিয়েছিল, তিনি সেই দেবতাদের কাছে পশু বলিদান করলেন। তিনি বললেন, “অরামের রাজাদের দেবতারা তাঁদের সাহায্য করে, আর আমি সাহায্য পাবার জন্য সেই দেবতাদের কাছে পশু বলি দেব।” আর তারা আমাকেও সাহায্য করবেন কিন্তু সেই দেবতারাই হল তাঁর ও সমস্ত ইস্রায়েলের সর্বনাশের কারণ।

24 And Ahaz gathered together the vessels of the house of God, and cut in pieces the vessels of the house of God, and shut up the doors of the house of the LORD; and he made him altars in every corner of Jerusalem.

২৪পরে আহস ঈশ্বরের ঘরের জিনিসপত্রগুলি একত্রে জড়ো করে কেটে কেটে টুকরো করলেন। তিনি সদাপ্রভুর ঘরের দরজাগুলো বন্ধ করে দিলেন এবং যিরূশালেমের সমস্ত জায়গায় তিনি নিজের জন্য বেদী তৈরী করলেন।

25 And in every several city of Judah he made high places to burn incense unto other gods, and provoked to anger the LORD, the God of his fathers.

২৫আর অন্য দেব দেবতাদের উদ্দেশ্যে ধূপ জ্বালাবার জন্য তিনি যিহূদার প্রত্যেকটি শহর ও গ্রামে পূজার জন্য উঁচু বেদী তৈরী করলেন, এই ভাবে তাঁর নিজের পূর্বপুরুষদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুকে অসন্তুষ্ট করে তুললেন।

26 Now the rest of his acts, and all his ways, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

২৬দেখো, আহসের অন্যান্য সমস্ত কাজের কথা এবং প্রথম থেকে শেষ পর্যন্ত তাঁর সমস্ত চাল চলনের কথা “যিহূদা ও ইস্রায়েলের রাজাদের ইতিহাস” নামক বইটিতে লেখা আছে।

27 And Ahaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city, even in Jerusalem; for they brought him not into the sepulchres of the kings of Israel: and Hezekiah his son reigned in his stead.

২৭পরে আহস তাঁর পূর্বপুরুষদের সঙ্গে ঘুমিয়ে পড়লেন এবং তারা যিরূশালেম শহরে তাঁকে কবর দিল, কিন্তু তারা তাঁকে ইস্রায়েলের রাজাদের কবরের জায়গা নিয়ে যায় নি। তাঁর জায়গায় তাঁর ছেলে হিষ্কিয় রাজা হলেন।
