2 Chronicles 20
1 And it came to pass after this, that the children of Moab, and the children of Ammon, and with them some of the Ammonites, came against Jehoshaphat to battle.
Και μετά ταύτα ήλθον κατά του Ιωσαφάτ οι υιοί Μωάβ και οι υιοί Αμμών και μετ' αυτών άλλοι εκτός των Αμμωνιτών, διά να πολεμήσωσι.
2 Then there came some that told Jehoshaphat, saying, There cometh a great multitude against thee from beyond the sea from Syria; and, behold, they be in Hazazon-tamar (the same is En-gedi).
Και ήλθον και απήγγειλαν προς τον Ιωσαφάτ, λέγοντες, Μέγα πλήθος έρχεται εναντίον σου εκ του πέραν της θαλάσσης, εκ της Συρίας· και ιδού, είναι εν Ασασών-θαμάρ, ήτις είναι Εν-γαδδί.
3 And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek unto the LORD; and he proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.
Και εφοβήθη ο Ιωσαφάτ και εδόθη εις το να εκζητή τον Κύριον, και εκήρυξε νηστείαν διά παντός του Ιούδα.
4 And Judah gathered themselves together, to seek [help] of the LORD: even out of all the cities of Judah they came to seek the LORD.
Και συνήχθησαν οι άνδρες Ιούδα, διά να ζητήσωσι βοήθειαν παρά Κυρίου· εκ πασών έτι των πόλεων Ιούδα ήλθον διά να ζητήσωσι τον Κύριον.
5 And Jehoshaphat stood in the congregation of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the LORD, before the new court;
Και εστάθη ο Ιωσαφάτ εν τη συνάξει του Ιούδα και της Ιερουσαλήμ, εν τω οίκω του Κυρίου, κατά πρόσωπον της νέας αυλής,
6 and he said, O LORD, the God of our fathers, art not thou God in heaven? and art not thou ruler over all the kingdoms of the nations? and in thine hand is power and might, so that none is able to withstand thee.
και είπε, Κύριε Θεέ των πατέρων ημών, δεν είσαι συ ο Θεός ο εν τω ουρανώ; και δεν είσαι συ ο κυριεύων επί πάντα τα βασίλεια των εθνών, και δεν είναι εν τη χειρί σου η δύναμις και η ισχύς, και ουδείς δύναται να αντισταθή εις σε;
7 Didst not thou, O our God, drive out the inhabitants of this land before thy people Israel, and gavest it to the seed of Abraham thy friend for ever?
Δεν είσαι συ ο Θεός ημών, ο εκδιώξας τους κατοίκους της γης ταύτης έμπροσθεν του λαού σου Ισραήλ, και δους αυτήν εις το σπέρμα του Αβραάμ του αγαπητού σου εις τον αιώνα;
8 And they dwelt therein, and have built thee a sanctuary therein for thy name, saying,
Και κατώκησαν εν αυτή και ωκοδόμησαν εις σε αγιαστήριον εν αυτή διά το όνομά σου, λέγοντες,
9 If evil come upon us, the sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we will stand before this house, and before thee, (for thy name is in this house, ) and cry unto thee in our affliction, and thou wilt hear and save.
Εάν, όταν επέλθη εφ' ημάς κακόν, ρομφαία, κρίσις ή θανατικόν ή πείνα, σταθώμεν έμπροσθεν του οίκου τούτου και ενώπιόν σου, διότι το όνομά σου είναι εν τω οίκω τούτω, και βοήσωμεν προς σε εν τη θλίψει ημών, τότε θέλεις ακούσει και σώσει.
10 And now, behold, the children of Ammon and Moab and mount Seir, whom thou wouldest not let Israel invade, when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned aside from them, and destroyed them not;
Και τώρα, ιδού, οι υιοί Αμμών και Μωάβ και οι από του όρους Σηείρ, προς τους οποίους δεν αφήκας τον Ισραήλ να υπάγη, ότε ήρχοντο εκ γης Αιγύπτου, αλλ' εξέκλιναν απ' αυτών και δεν εξωλόθρευσαν αυτούς,
11 behold, how they reward us, to come to cast us out of thy possession, which thou hast given us to inherit.
και ιδού, πως ανταμείβουσιν ημάς, ερχόμενοι να εκβάλωσιν ημάς από της κληρονομίας σου, την οποίαν έδωκας εις ημάς να κληρονομήσωμεν.
12 O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee.
Θεέ ημών, δεν θέλεις κρίνει αυτούς; διότι δεν υπάρχει εις ημάς δύναμις διά να αντισταθώμεν εις τούτο το μέγα πλήθος, το οποίον έρχεται εφ' ημάς, και δεν εξεύρομεν τι να κάμωμεν· αλλ' επί σε είναι οι οφθαλμοί ημών.
13 And all Judah stood before the LORD, with their little ones, their wives, and their children.
Και ίστατο πας ο Ιούδας ενώπιον του Κυρίου με τα βρέφη αυτών, τας γυναίκας αυτών και τους υιούς αυτών.
14 Then upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, the Levite, of the sons of Asaph, came the spirit of the LORD in the midst of the congregation;
Τότε ήλθε Πνεύμα Κυρίου επί Ιααζιήλ τον υιόν του Ζαχαρίου, υιού του Βεναΐα, υιού του Ιεϊήλ, υιού του Ματθανίου του Λευΐτου, εκ των υιών του Ασάφ, εν τω μέσω της συνάξεως.
15 and he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat: thus saith the LORD unto you, Fear not ye, neither be dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s.
και είπε, Ακούσατε, πας ο Ιούδας και οι κατοικούντες Ιερουσαλήμ, και συ βασιλεύ Ιωσαφάτ· ούτω λέγει Κύριος προς υμάς· Μη φοβείσθε σεις μηδέ πτοηθήτε από προσώπου τούτου του μεγάλου πλήθους· διότι η μάχη δεν είναι υμών, αλλά του Θεού·
16 Tomorrow go ye down against them: behold, they come up by the ascent of Ziz; and ye shall find them at the end of the valley, before the wilderness of Jeruel.
κατάβητε αύριον εναντίον αυτών· ιδού, αναβαίνουσι διά της αναβάσεως Σίς· και θέλετε ευρεί αυτούς εν τω άκρω του χειμάρρου, έμπροσθεν της ερήμου Ιερουήλ·
17 Ye shall not need to fight in this [battle]: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed: tomorrow go out against them; for the LORD is with you.
δεν θέλετε πολεμήσει σεις εν ταύτη τη μάχη· παρουσιάσθητε, στήτε και ιδέτε την μεθ' υμών σωτηρίαν του Κυρίου, Ιούδα και Ιερουσαλήμ· μη φοβείσθε μηδέ πτοηθήτε· αύριον εξέλθετε εναντίον αυτών· και ο Κύριος μεθ' υμών.
18 And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell down before the LORD, worshipping the LORD.
Και έκυψεν ο Ιωσαφάτ επί πρόσωπον εις την γήν· και πας ο Ιούδας και οι κατοικούντες την Ιερουσαλήμ έπεσον ενώπιον του Κυρίου, προσκυνούντες τον Κύριον.
19 And the Levites, of the children of the Kohathites and of the children of the Korahites, stood up to praise the LORD, the God of Israel, with an exceeding loud voice.
Και εσηκώθησαν οι Λευΐται, εκ των υιών των Κααθιτών και εκ των υιών των Κοριτών, διά να υμνήσωσι Κύριον τον Θεόν του Ισραήλ εν φωνή υψωμένη σφόδρα.
20 And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Και εξεγερθέντες το πρωΐ· εξήλθον προς την έρημον Θεκουέ· και ότε εξήλθον, εστάθη ο Ιωσαφάτ και είπεν, Ακούσατέ μου, Ιούδα και οι κατοικούντες την Ιερουσαλήμ· πιστεύσατε εις Κύριον τον Θεόν υμών, και θέλετε στερεωθή· πιστεύσατε τους προφήτας αυτού και θέλετε ευοδωθή.
21 And when he had taken counsel with the people, he appointed them that should sing unto the LORD, and praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and say, Give thanks unto the LORD; for his mercy [endureth] for ever.
Και συμβουλευθείς μετά του λαού, διέταξε ψαλτωδούς διά να ψάλλωσιν εις τον Κύριον και να υμνώσι την μεγαλοπρέπειαν της αγιότητος αυτού, εξελθόντες έμπροσθεν του στρατεύματος, και να λέγωσι, Δοξολογείτε τον Κύριον, διότι το έλεος αυτού μένει εις τον αιώνα.
22 And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set liers in wait against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.
Και ότε ήρχισαν να ψάλλωσι και να υμνώσιν, ο Κύριος έστησεν ενέδρας εναντίον των υιών Αμμών, Μωάβ και των εκ του όρους Σηείρ, των ελθόντων κατά του Ιούδα· και εκτυπήθησαν.
23 For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another.
Διότι εσηκώθησαν οι υιοί Αμμών και Μωάβ κατά των κατοίκων του όρους Σηείρ, διά να εξολοθρεύσωσι και να εξαλείψωσιν αυτούς· και αφού συνετέλεσαν τους κατοίκους του Σηείρ εβοήθησαν αλλήλους διά να εξολοθρευθώσιν.
24 And when Judah came to the watch-tower of the wilderness, they looked upon the multitude; and, behold, they were dead bodies fallen to the earth, and there were none that escaped.
Ελθών δε ο Ιούδας εις την σκοπιάν της ερήμου, ανέβλεψε προς το πλήθος, και ιδού, ήσαν νεκρά σώματα πεπτωκότα κατά γης, και ουδείς διεσώθη.
25 And when Jehoshaphat and his people came to take the spoil of them, they found among them in abundance both riches and dead bodies, and precious jewels, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away: and they were three days in taking of the spoil, it was so much.
Και ότε ήλθον ο Ιωσαφάτ και ο λαός αυτού διά να λαφυραγωγήσωσιν αυτούς, εύρηκαν μεταξύ των νεκρών σωμάτων αυτών και πλούτη εν αφθονία και πολύτιμον αποσκευήν, και έλαβον εις εαυτούς τοσαύτα, ώστε δεν ηδύναντο να μεταφέρωσιν αυτά· και εστάθησαν τρεις ημέρας λαφυραγωγούντες, διότι τα λάφυρα ήσαν πολλά.
26 And on the fourth day they assembled themselves in the valley of Beracah; for there they blessed the LORD: therefore the name of that place was called The valley of Beracah, unto this day.
Και την τετάρτην ημέραν συνήχθησαν εν τη κοιλάδι της Ευλογίας· διότι εκεί ευλόγησαν τον Κύριον· διά τούτο ωνομάσθη το όνομα του τόπου εκείνου Κοιλάς Ευλογίας έως της ημέρας ταύτης.
27 Then they returned, every man of Judah and Jerusalem, and Jehoshaphat in the forefront of them, to go again to Jerusalem with joy; for the LORD had made them to rejoice over their enemies.
Τότε πάντες οι άνδρες Ιούδα και της Ιερουσαλήμ και ο Ιωσαφάτ επί κεφαλής αυτών, εκίνησαν διά να επιστρέψωσιν εις Ιερουσαλήμ εν ευφροσύνη· διότι εύφρανεν αυτούς ο Κύριος από των εχθρών αυτών.
28 And they came to Jerusalem with psalteries and harps and trumpets unto the house of the LORD.
Και ήλθον εις Ιερουσαλήμ εν ψαλτηρίοις και κιθάραις και σάλπιγξι, προς τον οίκον του Κυρίου.
29 And the fear of God was on all the kingdoms of the countries, when they heard that the LORD fought against the enemies of Israel.
Και επέπεσε φόβος Θεού επί πάντα τα βασίλεια των τόπων εκείνων; ότε ήκουσαν έτι ο Κύριος επολέμησεν εναντίον των εχθρών του Ισραήλ.
30 So the realm of Jehoshaphat was quiet: for his God gave him rest round about.
Και ησύχασεν η βασιλεία του Ιωσαφάτ· διότι ο Θεός αυτού έδωκεν εις αυτόν ανάπαυσιν κυκλόθεν.
31 And Jehoshaphat reigned over Judah: he was thirty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and five years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.
Και εβασίλευσεν ο Ιωσαφάτ επί τον Ιούδαν· τριάκοντα πέντε ετών ηλικίας ήτο ότε εβασίλευσε, και εβασίλευσεν εικοσιπέντε έτη εν Ιερουσαλήμ· το δε όνομα της μητρός αυτού ήτο Αζουβά θυγάτηρ του Σιλεΐ.
32 And he walked in the way of Asa his father, and turned not aside from it, doing that which was right in the eyes of the LORD.
Και περιεπάτησεν εν τη οδώ Ασά του πατρός αυτού και δεν εξέκλινεν απ' αυτής, πράττων το ευθές ενώπιον του Κυρίου.
33 Howbeit the high places were not taken away; neither as yet had the people set their hearts unto the God of their fathers.
Οι υψηλοί όμως τόποι δεν αφηρέθησαν· διότι ο λαός δεν είχον έτι κατευθύνει τας καρδίας αυτών προς τον Θεόν των πατέρων αυτών.
34 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, first and last, behold, they are written in the history of Jehu the son of Hanani, which is inserted in the book of the kings of Israel.
Αι δε λοιπαί πράξεις του Ιωσαφάτ, αι πρώται και αι έσχαται, ιδού, είναι γεγραμμέναι εν τοις λόγοις του Ιηού υιού του Ανανί, οίτινες κατεγράφησαν εν τω βιβλίω των βασιλέων του Ισραήλ.
35 And after this did Jehoshaphat king of Judah join himself with Ahaziah king of Israel; the same did very wickedly:
Μετά δε ταύτα ηνώθη ο Ιωσαφάτ ο βασιλεύς του Ιούδα μετά του Οχοζίου βασιλέως του Ισραήλ, όστις έπραξε λίαν ασεβώς.
36 and he joined himself with him to make ships to go to Tarshish: and they made the ships in Ezion-geber.
Ηνώθη δε μετ' αυτού, διά να κάμωσι πλοία, τα οποία να πλεύσωσιν εις Θαρσείς· και έκαμον τα πλοία εν Εσιών-γάβερ.
37 Then Eliezer the son of Dodavahu of Mareshah prophesied against Jehoshaphat, saying, Because thou hast joined thyself with Ahaziah, the LORD hath destroyed thy works. And the ships were broken, that they were not able to go to Tarshish.
Τότε Ελιέζερ ο υιός του Δωδανά από Μαρησά προεφήτευσεν εναντίον του Ιωσαφάτ, λέγων, Επειδή ηνώθης μετά του Οχοζίου, ο Κύριος έθραυσε τα έργα σου. Και συνετρίβησαν τα πλοία και δεν ηδυνήθησαν να υπάγωσιν εις Θαρσείς.
