< 1 Timothy 5 >

1 Rebuke not an elder, but exhort him as a father; the younger men as brethren:
Axüngvai kpami cän käh jah pyensa lü na pa mäia ani cun nghui na bä. Ami sak dik hamkia kpamie cän pi na benaa mäia jah vecawh püia.
2 the elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, in all purity.
Axüngvai nghnumie pi na nua mäia jah mtheh lü ami sak diki nghnumie pi na cina mäia mlung ngcimnak üng jah mcuhmtheh bä.
3 Honour widows that are widows indeed.
Amimät vekia hmeinue kcang cän jah leisawng bä.
4 But if any widow hath children or grandchildren, let them learn first to shew piety towards their own family, and to requite their parents: for this is acceptable in the sight of God.
Acunsepi, a tuca vekia hmeinue akcüka ami imkyawng üng Pamhnam ami jum vaia mta ami pawh vai cun ngthei ma u lü ami nupa ja ami pupie cun jah thungkhih be kawm u, isetiakyaküng, ahin naw Pamhnam jesaki ni.
5 Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, hath her hope set on God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day.
Hmeinu amät däk ve lü bükteng khai am veki cun Pamhnam äpei lü amhnüp amthan ktaiyü lü Pamhnam üm na khawhki.
6 But she that giveth herself to pleasure is dead while she liveth.
Bawimangnak vai suikia hmeinu ta xüng kyaw lüpi thiki ni.
7 These things also command, that they may be without reproach.
U naw pi ami hmakatnak käh a jah hmuh vaia ahina mcuhmthehnake cän na jah mthei vai.
8 But if any provideth not for his own, and specially his own household, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever.
A u pi ami kawnsang, aktunga ami mäta imkyawng üngka am büktengki ta jumeinak mah lü am jumeikie kthaka pi sexuki ni.
9 Let none be enrolled as a widow under threescore years old, [having been] the wife of one man,

11 But younger widows refuse: for when they have waxed wanton against Christ, they desire to marry;
Ami sak dik hamkia hmeinue ta käh na jah ngpüisak vai; isetiakyaküng, ami cei mah be vai ami täng üng Khritaw nglatakie,

13 And withal they learn also [to be] idle, going about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.
Khyange ima cit hü u lü ami kcün päihnak khaie, acuna thea akse bawk ta, am ami pyensak vai pyen u lü khyanga am adawa mawng cingjangei khaie ni.
14 I desire therefore that the younger [widows] marry, bear children, rule the household, give none occasion to the adversary for reviling:
Acunakyase, a sak dik hamki hmeinue cän cei mah be u lü ami imkyawng ja ami canae cun ami jah mceimsang üngva mi yee naw mi phäha akse ami pyen vai am ve.
15 for already some are turned aside after Satan.

16 If any woman that believeth hath widows, let her relieve them, and let not the church be burdened; that it may relieve them that are widows indeed.

17 Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially those who labour in the word and in teaching.
Khawngmanga kba akdawa khut biki ngvaie cän, aktunga ngthu sang lü jah mtheimthangkie cun püp nghngih ngkhyengnak yahei khaiea ngkäihki ni.
18 For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox when he treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his hire.
Cangcim naw, “Cang lehsaka se cän a mpyawng käh kbüpa” “khüikie cän pi ngkhyengnak yah khaie ni” tia pyenki.
19 Against an elder receive not an accusation, except at [the mouth of] two or three witnesses.
Nghngih kthuma ja acuna thea nungki saksi am ve xa lü angvai ami mkateia ngkhaw cän käh jah ngai bä.
20 Them that sin reprove in the sight of all, that the rest also may be in fear.

21 I charge [thee] in the sight of God, and Christ Jesus, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing by partiality.

23 Be no longer a drinker of water, but use a little wine for thy stomach’s sake and thine often infirmities.
Am na khyaih xawh xawhkia kyase tui däk käh aw lü na ei acip thei vaia capyit tui aläm pi awk sih bä.
24 Some men’s sins are evident, going before unto judgment; and some men also they follow after.

25 In like manner also there are good works that are evident; and such as are otherwise cannot be hid.
