< 1 Samuel 3 >

1 And the child Samuel ministered unto the LORD before Eli. And the word of the LORD was precious in those days; there was no open vision.
Pea naʻe tauhi kia Sihova ʻe he tamasiʻi ko Samuela ʻi he ʻao ʻo Ilai. Pea naʻe maʻungataʻa ʻae folofola ʻa Sihova ʻi he ngaahi ʻaho ko ia; naʻe ʻikai fakahā ha meʻa hā mai.
2 And it came to pass at that time, when Eli was laid down in his place, (now his eyes had begun to wax dim, that he could not see, )
Pea naʻe hoko ʻo pehē ʻi he ngaahi ʻaho ko ia, naʻe tokoto ʻa Ilai ʻi hono potu, pea naʻe fakaʻaʻau ke poʻuli hono mata, ʻo ʻikai kei mamata:
3 and the lamp of God was not yet gone out, and Samuel was laid down [to sleep], in the temple of the LORD, where the ark of God was;
Pea ʻi he teʻeki ai mate ʻae maama ʻi he faletapu ʻo Sihova, ʻaia naʻe ʻi ai ʻae puha tapu ʻoe ʻOtua, pea kuo tokoto ʻa Samuela ke mohe:
4 that the LORD called Samuel: and he said, Here am I.
Naʻe ui ʻe Sihova kia Samuela; pea tali ʻe ia, “Ko au eni.”
5 And he ran unto Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou calledst me. And he said, I called not; lie down again. And he went and lay down.
Pea naʻe lele ia kia Ilai, ʻo ne pehē, “Ko au eni; he naʻa ke ui au.” Pea pehē ʻe ia, “Naʻe ʻikai te u ui; ke ke toe tokoto.” Pea naʻe ʻalu ia ʻo tokoto.
6 And the LORD called yet again, Samuel. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou calledst me. And he answered, I called not, my son; lie down again.
Pea naʻe toe ui ʻe Sihova, “Samuela.” Pea tuʻu ʻa Samuela ʻo ʻalu kia Ilai, ʻo ne pehē, “Ko au eni; he naʻa ke ui au.” Pea pehē ʻe ia, “ʻE hoku foha naʻe ʻikai te u ui; ke ke toe tokoto.”
7 Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD, neither was the word of the LORD yet revealed unto him.
Pea naʻe ʻikai ʻilo ʻe Samuela ʻa Sihova, pea naʻe teʻeki ai fakahā ʻae folofola ʻa Sihova kiate ia.
8 And the LORD called Samuel again the third time. And he arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou calledst me. And Eli perceived that the LORD had called the child.
Pea naʻe toe ui ʻe Sihova ʻa Samuela ko hono liunga tolu. Pea tuʻu ia ʻo ʻalu kia Ilai, ʻo ne pehē, “Ko au eni he naʻa ke ui au.” Pea naʻe toki ʻilo ʻe Ilai kuo ui ʻa Sihova ki he tamasiʻi.
9 Therefore Eli said unto Samuel, Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he call thee, that thou shalt say, Speak, LORD; for thy servant heareth. So Samuel went and lay down in his place.
Ko ia naʻe pehē ai ʻe Ilai kia Samuela, “ʻAlu ʻo tokoto hifo: pea ʻe pehē, kapau te ne ui koe, te ke pehē,’ʻE Sihova ke ke folofola mai; he ʻoku ongoʻi ʻe hoʻo tamaioʻeiki.’” Ko ia naʻe ʻalu ʻa Samuela ʻo tokoto ʻi hono potu.
10 And the LORD came, and stood and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel said, Speak; for thy servant heareth.
Pea naʻe hāʻele mai ʻa Sihova, ʻo tuʻu, ʻo ui ʻo hangē ko ia naʻe fai, “Samuela, Samuela.” Pea naʻe toki tali ʻe Samuela, ʻo pehē, “Ke ke folofola mai; he ʻoku ongoʻi ʻe hoʻo tamaioʻeiki.”
11 And the LORD said to Samuel, Behold, I will do a thing in Israel, at which both the ears of every one that heareth it shall tingle.
Pea naʻe pehē ʻe Sihova kia Samuela, “Vakai, te u fai ha meʻa ʻi ʻIsileli, ʻe vavana ai ʻae telinga, ʻokinautolu kotoa pē ʻe fanongo ki ai.
12 In that day I will perform against Eli all that I have spoken concerning his house, from the beginning even unto the end.
‌ʻI he ʻaho ko ia te u fai kia Ilai ʻae ngaahi meʻa kotoa pē ʻaia kuo ʻosi ʻeku lea ai ki hono fale: ʻo kau ka kamata, te u fai ke ʻosi foki.
13 For I have told him that I will judge his house for ever, for the iniquity which he knew, because his sons did bring a curse upon themselves, and he restrained them not.
He kuo u tala kiate ia te u fakamaauʻi hono fale ke taʻengata koeʻuhi ko e hia ʻoku ne ʻiloʻi; ko e meʻa ʻi he fai angahala lahi hono ongo foha, pea naʻe ʻikai te ne taʻofi ʻakinaua.
14 And therefore I have sworn unto the house of Eli, that the iniquity of Eli’s house shall not be purged with sacrifice nor offering for ever.
Pea ko ia kuo u fuakava ai ki he fale ʻo Ilai, ʻe ʻikai fakamaʻa ʻae hia ʻae fale ʻo Ilai ʻaki ʻae feilaulau pe ko e meʻa ʻatu ʻo taʻengata.”
15 And Samuel lay until the morning, and opened the doors of the house of the LORD. And Samuel feared to shew Eli the vision.
16 Then Eli called Samuel, and said, Samuel, my son. And he said, Here Am I.
Pea naʻe ui ʻe Ilai kia Samuela, ʻo ne pehē, “ʻE Samuela ko hoku foha.” Pea pehē ʻe ia, “Ko au eni.”
17 And he said, What is the thing that [the LORD] hath spoken unto thee? I pray thee hide it not from me: God do so to thee, and more also, if thou hide any thing from me of all the things that he spake unto thee.
Pea naʻe pehē ʻe ia, “Ko e hā ʻae meʻa kuo folofolaʻaki ʻe Sihova kiate koe? ʻOku ou kole kiate koe ʻoua naʻa ke fakafufū ia ʻiate au: Ke fai pehē ʻe he ʻOtua kiate koe, mo lahi hake foki, ʻo kapau te ke ʻufiʻufi ʻiate au ha meʻa ʻe taha ʻi he ngaahi meʻa kotoa pē kuo ne folofola kiate koe.”
18 And Samuel told him every whit, and hid nothing from him. And he said, It is the LORD: let him do what seemeth him good.
Pea naʻe fakahā ʻe Samuela ʻae meʻa kotoa pē kiate ia ʻo ʻikai fufū ha taha. Pea naʻe pehē ʻe ia, “Ko Sihova ia: tuku ke fai ʻe ia ʻaia ʻoku lelei ki hono finangalo.”
19 And Samuel grew, and the LORD was with him, and did let none of his words fall to the ground.
Pea naʻe tupu pe ʻa Samuela, pea naʻe ʻiate ia ʻa Sihova, pea naʻe ʻikai te ne tuku ke tō kelekele haʻane lea ʻe taha.
20 And all Israel from Dan even to Beer-sheba knew that Samuel was established to be a prophet of the LORD.
Pea naʻe ʻilo ʻe ʻIsileli kotoa pē mei Tani ʻo aʻu atu ki Peasipa, kuo hoko ʻa Samuela ko e palōfita ʻa Sihova.
21 And the LORD appeared again in Shiloh: for the LORD revealed himself to Samuel in Shiloh by the word of the LORD.
Pea naʻe toe fakahāhā ʻa Sihova ʻi Sailo: he naʻe fakahā ʻe Sihova ʻa ʻene ʻafio kia Samuela ʻi Sailo ʻi he folofola ʻa Sihova.
