1 Peter 2
1 Putting away therefore all wickedness, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,
Тим то, відложивши всяку злобу, і всякий підступ і лицемірство і зависть і всяку осуду,
2 as newborn babes, long for the spiritual milk which is without guile, that ye may grow thereby unto salvation;
Яко ж новорожденні дїти будьте жадні словесного чистого молока, щоб у ньому виросли на спасеннє;
3 if ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious:
коли покушали, що благий Господь.
4 unto whom coming, a living stone, rejected indeed of men, but with God elect, precious,
Приступаючи до Него, до каменя живого, від людей відкинутого, від Бога ж вибраного, дорогого,
5 ye also, as living stones, are built up a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
і самі, яко живе каміннє, будуйте дім духовний, сьвященьство сьвяте, щоб приношено духовні жертви любоприємні Богу через Ісуса Христа.
6 Because it is contained in scripture, Behold, I lay in Zion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: And he that believeth on him shall not be put to shame.
Тим то й стоїть в писанню: "Ось, владу в Сионї угольний, камінь, ви. браний, дорогий; і віруючий в Него не осоромить ся."
7 For you therefore which believe is the preciousness: but for such as disbelieve, The stone which the builders rejected, The same was made the head of the corner;
Оце як вам віруючим, - дорогий, неслухняним же "камінь, що відкинули будівничі, та став ся у голову угла, - камінь спотикання і скеля поблазнї";
8 and, A stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence; for they stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.
і спотикають ся, не слухаючи слова, на що вони й полишені.
9 But ye are an elect race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for [God’s] own possession, that ye may shew forth the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:
Ви ж - рід вибраний, царске Сьвященьство, нарід сьвятий, люде прибрані, щоб звіщали чесноти Покликавшого вас із темряви у дивне своє сьвітло;
10 which in time past were no people, but now are the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
ви, колись і не народ, а тепер народ Божий; непомилувані, а тепер помилувані.
11 Beloved, I beseech you as sojourners and pilgrims, to abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
Любі, молю, як чужосторонцїв ї прохожих, ухилятись від тілесного хотїння, котре воює проти душі,
12 having your behaviour seemly among the Gentiles; that, wherein they speak against you as evil-doers, they may by your good works, which they behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.
і вести добре життє своє між поганами, щоб, у чому судять вас яко лиходіїв, наглядаючи добрі дїла (ваші), славили Бога в день одвідання.
13 Be subject to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;
Тим то коріть ся всякому чоловічому начальству ради Господа: чи то цареві, яко значному,
14 or unto governors, as sent by him for vengeance on evil-doers and for praise to them that do well.
чи то начальникам, яко від него посланим на одмщеннє лиходїям, а на хвалу добротворпям.
15 For so is the will of God, that by well-doing ye should put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:
Така бо воля Божа, щоб ви, роблячи добро, затикали уста невіжи безрозумних людей,
16 as free, and not using your freedom for a cloke of wickedness, but as bondservants of God.
яко свобідні, а не яко ті, що мають свободу за покриттє злоби, а яко слуги Божі.
17 Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.
Усїх шануйте; браттівство любіте; Бога лякайтесь; царя честїть.
18 Servants, [be] in subjection to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward.
Слуги, з усяким страхом корітесь панам, не тільки добрим і лагідним, а також лукавим.
19 For this is acceptable, if for conscience toward God a man endureth griefs, suffering wrongfully.
Се бо угодно перед Богом, коли хто ради совісти Божої переносить смуток, страждаючи не по правдї.
20 For what glory is it, if, when ye sin, and are buffeted [for it], ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer [for it], ye shall take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.
Яка бо похвала, коли, согрішаючи й биті в лице, терпите? Тільки коли добре робите, і, страждаючи терпите, то се угодно перед Богом.
21 For hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that ye should follow his steps:
На се бо ви покликані, бо і Христос страждав за вас, оставляючи вам приклад, щоб ви йшли слїдом за Його стопами;
22 who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
котрий не зробив гріха, анї не знайдено підступу в устах Його;
23 who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, threatened not; but committed [himself] to him that judgeth righteously:
котрий, злословлений, не злословив, і страждаючи, не грозив, а передав Судячому праведно;
24 who his own self bare our sins in his body upon the tree, that we, having died unto sins, might live unto righteousness; by whose stripes ye were healed.
котрий гріхи наші сам піднїс на тїлї своїм на дереві, щоб ми, для гріхів умерши, правдою жили; котрого "ранами сцїлились".
25 For ye were going astray like sheep; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.
Були бо ви, як вївцї блукаючі; тільки ж вернулись нинї до Пастиря і Владики душ ваших.
