1 Corinthians 9
1 Am I not free? am I not an apostle? have I not seen Jesus our Lord? are not ye my work in the Lord?
Será que não sou um homem livre? Por acaso não sou um apóstolo? Será que não vi Jesus, o nosso Senhor? Por acaso vocês não são o resultado do meu trabalho no Senhor?
2 If to others I am not an apostle, yet at least I am to you; for the seal of mine apostleship are ye in the Lord.
Mesmo se eu não for um apóstolo para os outros, ao menos, vocês me consideram como um. A prova de eu ser um apóstolo do Senhor são vocês!
3 My defence to them that examine me is this.
Aqui está a minha resposta para aqueles que me perguntam a respeito disso:
4 Have we no right to eat and to drink?
Nós não temos o direito de ter o que comer e o que beber?
5 Have we no right to lead about a wife that is a believer, even as the rest of the apostles, and the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?
Nós não temos o direito de levarmos uma esposa cristã conosco em nossas viagens, exatamente como os outros apóstolos, como os irmãos de Jesus Cristo e Pedro?
6 Or I only and Barnabas, have we not a right to forbear working?
Apenas Barnabé e eu somos os únicos que precisamos trabalhar para nos sustentar?
7 What soldier ever serveth at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock?
Há algum soldado que precise pagar o seu próprio salário? Quem é que planta uma vinha e não come os seus frutos? Quem alimenta um rebanho e não consome o leite que é produzido?
8 Do I speak these things after the manner of men? or saith not the law also the same?
Será que estou apenas falando a partir de um ponto de vista humano? Por acaso, a lei não fala a mesma coisa?
9 For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox when he treadeth out the corn. Is it for the oxen that God careth,
Na lei de Moisés está escrito: “Não amarre a boca do boi quando ele estiver pisando o trigo.” Deus estaria realmente interessado em bois?
10 or saith he it altogether for our sake? Yea, for our sake it was written: because he that ploweth ought to plow in hope, and he that thresheth, [to thresh] in hope of partaking.
Ou ele estava falando a nosso respeito, ao dizer isso? Certamente, isso foi escrito para nós. Pois tanto quem planta quanto quem colhe faz o seu trabalho com esperança de receber uma parte da colheita.
11 If we sowed unto you spiritual things, is it a great matter if we shall reap your carnal things?
Se nós semeamos para vocês o que é espiritual, seria muito se colhermos algum benefício material?
12 If others partake of [this] right over you, do not we yet more? Nevertheless we did not use this right; but we bear all things, that we may cause no hindrance to the gospel of Christ.
Se outros exercem esse direito em relação a vocês, nós não merecemos ainda mais? Ainda assim, nós não exercemos esse direito. Pelo contrário, preferimos suportar o que seja, a criar obstáculos para o evangelho de Cristo.
13 Know ye not that they which minister about sacred things eat [of] the things of the temple, [and] they which wait upon the altar have their portion with the altar?
Vocês não sabem que aqueles que trabalham no templo se alimentam das ofertas do templo? E aqueles que oferecem sacrifícios no altar recebem a sua parte do sacrifício colocado no altar?
14 Even so did the Lord ordain that they which proclaim the gospel should live of the gospel.
Exatamente da mesma maneira, o Senhor ordenou que aqueles que anunciam as boas novas devam ser sustentados pelos que ouvem o anúncio das boas novas.
15 But I have used none of these things: and I write not these things that it may be so done in my case: for [it were] good for me rather to die, than that any man should make my glorying void.
Mas, eu não usei nenhum desses direitos e também não estou escrevendo sobre isso para sugerir que isso deva ser feito no meu caso. Eu prefiro morrer, a alguém tirar o orgulho que tenho de não ter recebido qualquer benefício.
16 For if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of; for necessity is laid upon me; for woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel.
Eu não tenho do que me orgulhar por anunciar o evangelho, pois fazer isso é minha obrigação. Ai de mim se não anunciar o evangelho às pessoas!
17 For if I do this of mine own will, I have a reward: but if not of mine own will, I have a stewardship intrusted to me.
Se estou fazendo este trabalho por escolha própria, aí tenho a minha recompensa. Mas, se a escolha não foi minha e foi colocada como uma obrigação para mim,
18 What then is my reward? That, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel without charge, so as not to use to the full my right in the gospel.
então, que recompensa eu posso ter? É a oportunidade de anunciar o evangelho sem cobrar por isso, sem exigir os meus direitos, como um trabalhador que prega o evangelho.
19 For though I was free from all [men], I brought myself under bondage to all, that I might gain the more.
Apesar de eu ser livre e não servir a ninguém, eu me coloquei a serviço de todos, para que eu possa ganhar mais.
20 And to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, not being myself under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law;
Para os judeus, eu me comporto como um judeu, para que, assim, eu possa ganhar os judeus. Para aqueles que estão sob a lei, eu me comporto como alguém sob a lei, ainda que eu não seja obrigado a seguir a lei de Moisés, pois, assim, eu posso ganhar aqueles que a seguem.
21 to them that are without law, as without law, not being without law to God, but under law to Christ, that I might gain them that are without law.
Para aqueles que não agem de acordo com a lei, eu me comporto como eles, embora não ignorando a lei de Deus, mas trabalhando sob a lei de Cristo, para que, assim, eu ganhe os que não seguem a lei.
22 To the weak I became weak, that I might gain the weak: I am become all things to all men, that I may by all means save some.
Para aqueles que são fracos, eu também me torno fraco, para que, assim, consiga ganhar o fraco. Eu acabei por me tornar um “homem comum”, que se adapta a todos, para que, ao usar todos os meios possíveis, possa ganhar algumas pessoas para Cristo!
23 And I do all things for the gospel’s sake, that I may be a joint partaker thereof.
Eu faço tudo isso por causa do evangelho, para que eu também possa tomar parte nas suas bênçãos.
24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? Even so run, that ye may attain.
Vocês não concordam que há muitos corredores em uma corrida, mas que apenas um ganha o prêmio? Então, corram o mais rápido que puderem, para que possam ganhar o prêmio.
25 And every man that striveth in the games is temperate in all things. Now they [do it] to receive a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.
Todo atleta que participa dos jogos mantém uma rígida disciplina de treinos. É claro que ele faz isso para ganhar uma coroa de folhas de louro que, aliás, não dura muito. Mas, as nossas coroas duram para sempre.
26 I therefore so run, as not uncertainly; so fight I, as not beating the air:
É por isso que eu corro direto para a linha de chegada. Eu sou um lutador de boxe que dá golpes precisos, sem esmurrar o vazio.
27 but I buffet my body, and bring it into bondage: lest by any means, after that I have preached to others, I myself should be rejected.
Eu também trato o meu corpo de forma rígida, para que ele fique sob o meu controle e para que eu não seja, de alguma forma, desqualificado nessa luta, após anunciar o evangelho a tantos outros.
