Titus 2
1 You however, should speak of such subjects as properly have a place in sound teaching.
しかし、あなたは、健全な教にかなうことを語りなさい。
2 Teach that the older men should be soberly clear minded, dignified and self-controlled – sound in faith, love, and patient endurance.
老人たちには自らを制し、謹厳で、慎み深くし、また、信仰と愛と忍耐とにおいて健全であるように勧め、
3 So, too, that the older women should live reverent lives, not slanderers, not slaves to excessive drinking.
年老いた女たちにも、同じように、たち居ふるまいをうやうやしくし、人をそしったり大酒の奴隷になったりせず、良いことを教える者となるように、勧めなさい。
4 They should teach what is good, so as to train the younger women to love their husbands and children,
そうすれば、彼女たちは、若い女たちに、夫を愛し、子供を愛し、
5 and to be self-controlled, pure-minded, to be watching over their home, to be kind, respecting the authority of their husbands, so that no one will speak badly of God’s message.
慎み深く、純潔で、家事に努め、善良で、自分の夫に従順であるように教えることになり、したがって、神の言がそしりを受けないようになるであろう。
6 In the same way with the younger men – encourage them to be self-controlled.
若い男にも、同じく、万事につけ慎み深くあるように、勧めなさい。
7 In all things, set an example of doing good. In your teaching, show integrity and seriousness –
あなた自身を良いわざの模範として示し、人を教える場合には、清廉と謹厳とをもってし、
8 let the instruction that you give be sound and above reproach, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed when they fail to find anything bad to say about us.
非難のない健全な言葉を用いなさい。そうすれば、反対者も、わたしたちについてなんの悪口も言えなくなり、自ら恥じいるであろう。
9 Tell slaves to respect their owner’s authority in all circumstances, and to try their best to please them.
奴隷には、万事につけその主人に服従して、喜ばれるようになり、反抗をせず、
10 Teach them not to contradict or to pilfer, but to show such praiseworthy fidelity in everything, as to recommend the teaching about God our Savior by all that they do.
盗みをせず、どこまでも心をこめた真実を示すようにと、勧めなさい。そうすれば、彼らは万事につけ、わたしたちの救主なる神の教を飾ることになろう。
11 For the loving kindness of God has been revealed, bringing salvation for all,
すべての人を救う神の恵みが現れた。
12 leading us to renounce ungodliness and worldly desires, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives here in this present age, (aiōn g165)
そして、わたしたちを導き、不信心とこの世の情欲とを捨てて、慎み深く、正しく、信心深くこの世で生活し、 (aiōn g165)
13 while awaiting our blessed hope – the appearing in glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus.
祝福に満ちた望み、すなわち、大いなる神、わたしたちの救主キリスト・イエスの栄光の出現を待ち望むようにと、教えている。
14 For he gave himself on our behalf, to deliver us from all wickedness, and to purify for himself a people who should be truly his own and eager to do good.
このキリストが、わたしたちのためにご自身をささげられたのは、わたしたちをすべての不法からあがない出して、良いわざに熱心な選びの民を、ご自身のものとして聖別するためにほかならない。
15 Tell them of all this, and encourage and rebuke with all authority. Do not let anyone belittle you.
あなたは、権威をもってこれらのことを語り、勧め、また責めなさい。だれにも軽んじられてはならない。
