Romans 11
1 I ask, then, ‘Has God rejected his people?’ Heaven forbid! For I myself am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.
ಹಾಗಾದರೆ, ದೇವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಜನರನ್ನು ತ್ಯಜಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾರೋ ಎಂದು ಕೇಳುತ್ತೇನೆ? ಎಂದಿಗೂ ಇಲ್ಲ. ನಾನು ಸಹ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲನೂ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನ ವಂಶದವನೂ ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನನ ಕುಲದವನೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ.
2 God has not rejected his people, whom he chose from the first. Have you forgotten the words of scripture in the story of Elijah – how he appeals to God against Israel?
ದೇವರು ತಾವು ಮುಂದಾಗಿ ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಂಡ ತಮ್ಮ ಜನರನ್ನು ತ್ಯಜಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ. ದೇವರ ವಾಕ್ಯವು ಎಲೀಯನನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು ಏನು ಹೇಳುತ್ತದೆಂದು ನಿಮಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಿಲ್ಲವೋ?
3 ‘Lord, they have killed your prophets, they have pulled down your altars, and I only am left; and now they are eager to take my life.’
“ಕರ್ತಾ, ಅವರು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಂದಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ನಿಮ್ಮ ಬಲಿಪೀಠವನ್ನು ಒಡೆದುಹಾಕಿದ್ದಾರೆ, ನಾನು ಒಬ್ಬನೇ ಉಳಿದಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಅವರು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕೊಲ್ಲಲು ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ,” ಎಂದು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ದೇವರಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಜ್ಞಾಪನೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡನು.
4 But what was the divine response? ‘I have kept for myself seven thousand who have never bowed the knee to Baal.’
ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ದೇವರು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟ ಉತ್ತರವೇನಾಗಿತ್ತು? “ಬಾಳನಿಗೆ ಅಡ್ಡಬೀಳದ ಏಳು ಸಾವಿರ ಮಂದಿಯನ್ನು ನನಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಉಳಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ,” ಎಂದಲ್ಲವೇ?
5 And so in our own time, too, there is to be found a remnant of our nation selected by God in love.
ಅದೇ ರೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ, ಈ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಕೃಪೆಯಿಂದ ಆಯ್ಕೆಯಾದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವರು ಉಳಿದಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
6 But if in love, then it is not as a result of obedience. Otherwise love would cease to be love.
ಆ ಆಯ್ಕೆಯು ಕ್ರಿಯೆಗಳ ಆಧಾರದಿಂದಲ್ಲ, ಕೃಪೆಯಿಂದಲೇ ಆಗಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಕ್ರಿಯೆಗಳಿಂದ ಅದು ಆಗಿದ್ದರೆ ಇನ್ನೆಂದಿಗೂ ಕೃಪೆಯಾಗಲಾರದು.
7 What follows from this? Why, that Israel as a nation failed to secure what it was seeking, while those whom God selected did secure it.
ಹಾಗಾದರೆ ಏನು? ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ಹುಡುಕಿದ್ದನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೆ ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಆಯ್ಕೆಯಾದವರು ಹೊಂದಿದರು, ಮಿಕ್ಕವರು ಕಠಿಣ ಹೃದಯಿಗಳಾದರು.
8 The rest grew callous; as scripture says – ‘God has given them a deadness of mind – eyes that are not to see and ears that are not to hear – and it is so to this very day.’
ಪವಿತ್ರ ವೇದದಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆದಿರುವಂತೆ, “ದೇವರು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಜಡಸ್ವಭಾವದ ಆತ್ಮವನ್ನು, ಕಾಣಲಾರದ ಕಣ್ಣನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಕೇಳಲಾರದ ಕಿವಿಯನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟರು, ಅದು ಇಂದಿನವರೆಗೂ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಇದೆ.”
9 David, too, says – ‘May their feasts prove a snare and a trap to them – a hindrance and a retribution;
ದಾವೀದನು, “ಅವರ ಊಟವೇ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಉರುಲೂ ಬೋನೂ ಆಗಲಿ. ಅದು ಅಡೆತಡೆಯೂ ಪ್ರತಿಕಾರವೂ ಆಗಲಿ.
10 may their eyes be darkened, so that they cannot see; and do you always make their backs to bend.’
ಅವರ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳು ಕಾಣದ ಹಾಗೆ ಕತ್ತಲಾಗಲಿ. ಮತ್ತು ಅವರ ಬೆನ್ನು ಎಂದೆಂದಿಗೂ ಬಗ್ಗಿ ಹೋಗಲಿ,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ.
11 I ask then – ‘Was their stumbling to result in their fall?’ Heaven forbid! On the contrary, through their falling away salvation has reached the Gentiles, to stir the rivalry of Israel.
ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಏಳಲಾರದ ಹಾಗೇ ಎಡವಿದರೋ? ಎಂದು ನಾನು ಕೇಳುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಇಲ್ಲವೇ ಇಲ್ಲ! ಆದರೆ, ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಲ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ಸರ ಉಂಟಾಗುವಂತೆ ಅವರ ಅಪರಾಧದ ನಿಮಿತ್ತ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರಲ್ಲದವರಿಗೆ ರಕ್ಷಣೆಯು ಉಂಟಾಯಿತು.
12 And, if their falling away has enriched the world, and their failure has enriched the Gentiles, how much more will result from their full restoration!
ಆದರೆ ಅವರ ಅಪರಾಧವು ಜಗತ್ತಿಗೆ ಐಶ್ವರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಉಂಟುಮಾಡಿತು. ಅವರ ನಷ್ಟವೇ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರಲ್ಲದವರಿಗೆ ಐಶ್ವರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಉಂಟುಮಾಡುವುದಾದರೆ, ಅವರ ಪರಿಪೂರ್ಣತೆಯು ಇನ್ನೂ ಎಷ್ಟೋ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾದ ಐಶ್ವರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಉಂಟುಮಾಡಬಹುದಲ್ಲವೇ!
13 But I am speaking to you who were Gentiles.
ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರಲ್ಲದವರಾಗಿರುವ ನಿಮ್ಮೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ನಾನು ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರಲ್ಲದವರಿಗೆ ಅಪೊಸ್ತಲನಾಗಿರುವಷ್ಟರ ಮಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ನನ್ನ ಸೇವೆಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರಭಾವಗೊಳಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ.
14 Being myself an apostle to the Gentiles, I exalt my office, in the hope that I may stir my countrymen to rivalry, and so save some of them.
ಹೇಗೂ ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ಸ್ವಂತ ಜನರಾದ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ಸರವನ್ನು ಉದ್ರೇಕಿಸಿ ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವರನ್ನಾದರೂ ರಕ್ಷಿಸಬೇಕು.
15 For, if their being cast aside has meant the reconciliation of the world, what will their reception mean, but life from the dead?
ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರನ್ನು ತ್ಯಜಿಸುವುದರಿಂದ ಜಗತ್ತು ದೇವರೊಡನೆ ಸಂಧಾನವಾಗುವುದಾದರೆ, ಅವರನ್ನು ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸುವುದು, ಸತ್ತವರು ಜೀವಿತರಾಗಿ ಎದ್ದು ಬಂದಂತಾಗಿರುವುದಲ್ಲವೇ?
16 If the first handful of dough is holy, so is the whole mass, and if the root is holy, so are the branches.
ಪ್ರಥಮಫಲವಾಗಿ ಹಿಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಭಾಗವನ್ನು ಸಮರ್ಪಿಸಿದ್ದು ಪವಿತ್ರವಾಗಿದ್ದರೆ, ಹಿಟ್ಟೆಲ್ಲಾ ಪವಿತ್ರವಾಗಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಬೇರು ಪವಿತ್ರವಾಗಿದ್ದರೆ, ಕೊಂಬೆಗಳೂ ಪವಿತ್ರವಾಗಿರುತ್ತವೆ?
17 Some, however, of the branches were broken off, and you, who were only a wild olive, were grafted in among them, and came to share with them the root which is the source of the richness of the cultivated olive.
ಕೆಲವು ಕೊಂಬೆಗಳು ಮುರಿದುಹೋಗಿರುವುದಾದರೆ, ಕಾಡು ಓಲಿವ್ ಮರದಂತಿರುವ ನೀನು ಅವುಗಳ ನಡುವೆ ಕಸಿಮಾಡಿ ಉತ್ತಮ ಓಲಿವ್ ಮರದ ರಸವತ್ತಾದ ಬೇರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾಲುಹೊಂದಿರಲಾಗಿ,
18 Yet do not exult over the other branches. But, if you do exult over them, remember that you do not support the root, but that the root supports you.
ಆ ಕೊಂಬೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕಡೆಗಣಿಸಿ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಡ. ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಿಕೊಂಡರೆ, ನೀನು ಆ ಬೇರಿನ ಆಧಾರವಲ್ಲ. ಆ ಬೇರೇ ನಿನಗೆ ಆಧಾರವಾಗಿದೆ.
19 But branches, you will say, were broken off, so that I might be grafted in.
ಹಾಗಾದರೆ ನೀನು, “ನಾನು ಕಸಿಕಟ್ಟಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕೆಂದು ಆ ಕೊಂಬೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮುರಿದು ಹಾಕಲಾಯಿತು,” ಎಂದು ನೀನು ಹೇಳಬಹುದು.
20 True, it was because of their want of faith that they were broken off, and it is because of your faith that you are standing. Do not think too highly of yourself, but beware.
ಅದು ನಿಜವೆ, ಆದರೆ ಅವರ ಅವಿಶ್ವಾಸದಿಂದಲೇ ಅವರನ್ನು ಮುರಿದು ಹಾಕಲಾಯಿತು. ನೀನಾದರೋ ವಿಶ್ವಾಸದಿಂದಲೇ ಇನ್ನೂ ನಿಂತಿರುವೆ. ಗರ್ವಪಡದೆ ಭಯದಿಂದಿರು.
21 For, if God did not spare the natural branches, neither will he spare you.
ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ದೇವರು ಹುಟ್ಟು ಕೊಂಬೆಗಳನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸದಿದ್ದ ಮೇಲೆ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನೂ ಉಳಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
22 See, then, both the goodness and the severity of God – his severity towards those who fell, and his goodness towards you, provided that you continue to confide in that goodness; otherwise you, also, will be cut off.
ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ, ದೇವರ ದಯೆಯನ್ನೂ ಕಾಠಿಣ್ಯವನ್ನೂ ನೋಡು. ಬಿದ್ದವರ ಕಡೆಗೆ ಅವರ ಕಾಠಿಣ್ಯವಿದೆ, ನೀನು ದೇವರ ದಯೆಯಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಮುಂದುವರಿಯುವುದಾದರೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ದೇವರ ದಯೆಯಿರುವುದು. ಇಲ್ಲದೆ ಹೋದರೆ, ನೀನು ಕೂಡ ಕಡಿದುಹಾಕಲಾಗುವೆ.
23 And they, too, if they do not continue in their unbelief, will be grafted in; for God has it in his power to graft them in again.
ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಕೂಡ ಇನ್ನೂ ಅವಿಶ್ವಾಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಂದುವರಿಯದಿದ್ದರೆ, ಕಸಿಕಟ್ಟಲಾಗುವರು, ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಅವರನ್ನು ಪುನಃ ಕಸಿಕಟ್ಟಲು ದೇವರು ಶಕ್ತರಾಗಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ.
24 If you were cut off from your natural stock – a wild olive – and were grafted, contrary to the course of nature, on a good olive, much more will they – the natural branches – be grafted back into their parent tree.
ಎಷ್ಟಾದರೂ ಕಾಡು ಓಲಿವ್ ಮರದಿಂದ ನೀನು ಕಡಿದುಹಾಕಲಾದ ಕೊಂಬೆ. ನೀನು ನೆಟ್ಟು ಬೆಳೆಸಿರುವ ಉತ್ತಮ ಓಲಿವ್ ಮರಕ್ಕೆ ಅಸ್ವಾಭಾವಿಕವಾಗಿ ಕಸಿಮಾಡುವುದಾದರೆ ಸ್ವಾಭಾವಿಕವಾಗಿರುವ ಈ ಕೊಂಬೆಗಳನ್ನು ಎಷ್ಟೋ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ಓಲಿವ್ ಮರಕ್ಕೆ ಅದೇ ಕಸಿಕಟ್ಟುವುದು ಸುಲಭವಲ್ಲವೇ?
25 My friends, so that you don’t think too highly of yourselves, I want you to recognize the truth, hitherto hidden, that the callousness which has come over Israel is only partial, and will continue only until the whole Gentile world has been gathered in.
ಪ್ರಿಯರೇ, ನೀವು ಈ ಮರ್ಮದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಅಜ್ಞಾನಿಗಳಾಗಿರಬೇಕೆಂದು ನಾನು ಬಯಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಅದೇನೆಂದರೆ, ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರಲ್ಲದವರು ಪೂರ್ಣಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ದೇವರ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬರುವವರೆಗೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ತಮ್ಮ ಹೃದಯದ ಕಾಠಿಣ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ತಾತ್ಕಾಲಿಕವಾಗಿ ಒಳಗಾಗಿರುವರು.
26 And then all Israel will be saved. As scripture says – ‘From Zion will come the Deliverer; he will banish ungodliness from Jacob.
ಹೀಗೆ ಪವಿತ್ರ ವೇದದಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆದಿರುವಂತೆ, ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ಜನರೆಲ್ಲಾ ರಕ್ಷಣೆಹೊಂದುವರು: “ವಿಮೋಚಿಸುವವರು ಒಬ್ಬರು ಚೀಯೋನಿನಿಂದ ಬರುತ್ತಾರೆ, ಅವರು ಯಾಕೋಬನ ಸಂತತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ದೇವರನ್ನು ಅಲ್ಲಗಳೆಯುವ ಸ್ವಭಾವನ್ನು ತಾವೇ ತೆಗೆದುಹಾಕುವರು.
27 And they will see the fulfillment of my covenant, when I have taken away their sins.’
ನಾನು ಅವರ ಪಾಪಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಹಾಕುವಾಗ, ಅವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ನಾನು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆ ಇದೇ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವೆನು,” ಎಂಬುದೇ.
28 From the standpoint of the good news, the Jews are God’s enemies for your sake; but from the standpoint of God’s selection, they are dear to him for the sake of the patriarchs.
ಸುವಾರ್ತೆಯ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಈಗ ನಿಮ್ಮ ನಿಮಿತ್ತ ಶತ್ರುಗಳು. ಆದರೆ ದೇವರ ಆಯ್ಕೆಯ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನೋಡುವಾಗ ಮೂಲಪಿತೃಗಳ ನಿಮಿತ್ತದಿಂದ ಅವರು ಪ್ರೀತಿಹೊಂದಿದವರು.
29 For God never regrets his gifts or his call.
ದೇವರು ಕೊಡುವ ವರಗಳನ್ನು, ಕರೆಗಳನ್ನು ಅವರು ಎಂದಿಗೂ ಹಿಂತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವವರಲ್ಲ.
30 Just as you at one time were disobedient to him, but have now found mercy in the day of their disobedience;
ಒಂದು ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಅವಿಧೇಯರಾಗಿದ್ದ ನೀವು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅವಿಧೇಯತೆಯಿಂದ ಈಗ ಕರುಣೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿರುವಿರಿ.
31 so, too, they have now become disobedient in your day of mercy, in order that they also in their turn may now find mercy.
ಅದೇ ಪ್ರಕಾರವಾಗಿ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಈಗ ಅವಿಧೇಯರಾಗಿದ್ದರೂ ನಿಮಗೆ ಕರುಣೆ ದೊರಕಿದಂತೆ, ಅವರಿಗೂ ಈಗ ಕರುಣೆ ದೊರಕುವುದು.
32 For God has given all alike over to disobedience, that to all alike he may show mercy. (eleēsē g1653)
ದೇವರು ತಾವು ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಕರುಣೆ ತೋರಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಎಲ್ಲರನ್ನೂ ಅವಿಧೇಯತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಟ್ಟಿಹಾಕಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ. (eleēsē g1653)
33 Oh! The unfathomable wisdom and knowledge of God! How inscrutable are his judgments, how untraceable his ways! Yes –
ಆಹಾ! ದೇವರ ಐಶ್ವರ್ಯ, ಜ್ಞಾನ ಮತ್ತು ವಿವೇಕಗಳು ಎಷ್ಟು ಆಳವಾದವುಗಳು! ದೇವರ ತೀರ್ಮಾನಗಳು ಪರೀಶೀಲಿಸಲು ಅಸಾಧ್ಯವಾದದ್ದು! ದೇವರ ಮಾರ್ಗಗಳನ್ನು ಕಂಡುಹಿಡಿಯುವುದು ಅಪರಿಮಿತವಾದದ್ದು!
34 ho has ever comprehended the mind of the Lord? Who has ever become his counsellor?
“ಕರ್ತದೇವರ ಮನಸ್ಸನ್ನು ಅರಿತವರು ಯಾರು? ಅವರಿಗೆ ಆಲೋಚನೆಯನ್ನು ನೀಡುವವರು ಯಾರು?”
35 Or who has first given to him, so that he may claim a reward?
“ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಮೊದಲು ಕೊಟ್ಟು, ಅವರಿಂದ ಪ್ರತಿಫಲವನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯುವವರು ಯಾರು?”
