< Revelation 18 >

1 After this I saw another angel, descending from heaven, invested with great authority; and the earth was illuminated by his splendor.
Yaatidi, gita maati de7iya hara kiitanchchoy saloppe wodhdhishin ta be7as. He kiitanchchuwa bonchchoy sa7a poo7isis.
2 With a mighty voice he cried – “She has fallen! She has fallen – Babylon the Great! She has become an abode of demons, a stronghold of every wicked spirit, a stronghold of every foul and hateful bird.
He kiitanchchoy ba qaala dhoqqu oothidi, “Iya kunddasu! Gita Baabilooney kunddasu! Baabilooney tuna ayyaanati aqiya bessi gidasu. Dumma dumma iitabatas keethe gidasu; tuna kafotinne do7ati shemppiya bessi gidasu.
3 For, after drinking the maddening wine of her licentiousness, all the nations have fallen; while all the kings of the earth have had licentious intercourse with her, and the merchants of the earth have grown rich through the excess of her luxury.”
Hiza, asa zerethi ubbaa ba laymatetha woyniya ushshasu. Sa7aa kawoti iira laymatidosona. I miikkotethaafe denddoyssan biittan de7iya zal77anchchoti durettidosona” yaagis.
4 Then I heard another voice from heaven saying – “Come out of her, my people, so that you may not participate in her sins, and that you may not suffer from the curses inflicted on her.
Hessafe guye, ta saloppe hayssada yaagiya hara qaala si7as. “I nagaraa iira koxonna melanne, iya ekkanaw de7iya seera hintte ekkonna mela, ta deriyaw iippe keyite.
5 For her sins are heaped up to the heavens, and God has not forgotten her misdeeds.
Hiza, I nagaray salo gakkanaw doorettis. Xoossay I naaquwa akeekis.
6 Pay her back the treatment with which she has treated you; yes, repay twice over what her actions deserve; in the cup which she mixed for you, mix for her as much again;
Iya immidayssa mela zaaridi iw immite. Iya oothida oosuwas nam77u kushe iw zaarite. Iya giigisida ushshaa bolla hintte nam77u kushe mathoya ushshaa I xuu7an kunthite.
7 for her self-glorification and her luxury, give her now an equal measure of torture and misery. In her heart she says ‘I sit here a queen; no widow am I; I will never know misery.’
Iya baw bonchchettidayssadanne iw injjetidayssa mela, iyo metoothitenne kayoyite. Iya ba wozanan, ‘Taani kaweeda uttas; ta azini baynna maccas gidikke; taani ubbaka kayottike’ yaagasu.
8 Therefore in one day will these curses strike her – death, misery, and famine, and she will be utterly consumed by fire; for mighty is the Lord God who condemned her.”
Hessa gisho, bosha ubbay, harggey, kayoynne koshi iyo issi gallas oykkana. Qassi iya taman xuugettana; ays giikko, I bolla pirddiya Xoossay wolqqaama” yaagis.
9 All the kings of the earth who had licentious intercourse with her and shared her luxury will weep and lament over her, when they see the smoke from the burning city,
“Iira laymatidayssatinne I miikkotethan de7ida, alamiya kawoti he katamiya xuugettin keyaa cuya be7ida wode iw waassidi yeekkana.
10 while they stand at a distance, horrified at her torture, and cry – “Alas! Alas! Great city! Mighty city of Babylon! In a single hour your judgment fell.”
Entti he katamee waaya be7idi yayyida gisho, haakki eqqidi, ‘Ha gita katamee! Wolqqaama katamee! Baabiloonee, nena ayye! Neeni issi saate giddon ne pirdda ekkadasa’ yaagana.
11 And the merchants of the earth weep and wail over her, because no longer does anyone buy their cargoes –
“Entta markkabiya caanaa hizappe shammiya asi baynna gisho, sa7an de7iya zal77anchchoti he katamaas waassananne kayottana.
12 their cargoes of gold, or silver, or precious stones, or pearls, or fine linen, or purple robes, or silk, or scarlet cloth; nor their many scented woods; nor their many articles of ivory; nor their many articles of choicest wood, or brass, or iron, or marble;
Entta worqqaa, biraa, bonchcho shuchchaa, inqo giya al77o shuchchaa, kaalose ma7o, liino ma7o, haare ma7o, zo7o ma7o, dumma dumma sawo mithaa, zaale, al77o mithaa, naase biraata, goole shuchchu,
13 nor their cinnamon, or spice, or incense, or perfumes, or frankincense, or wine, or oil, or fine flour, or wheat, or cattle, or sheep; nor their horses, or chariots, or slaves; nor the bodies and souls of people.
qarafa, qimame, ixaane, karbbe, shitto, woyne, zayte, liiqo dhiille, gistte, mehe, dorsse, paraa, para gaare, aylletanne hara asata shammiya oonikka baawa.
14 The fruit that your soul craved is no longer within your reach, and all dainties and luxuries are lost to you, never to be found again.
“Zal77anchchoti maccaseekko, ‘Neeni amottida lo77obaa ubbay neeppe dhays. Ne aqoynne alleeqettidabaa ubbay neeppe haakkis. Neeni zaarada entta ubbaa demmaka’ yaagidosona.
15 The merchants who sold these things, and grew rich by her, will stand at a distance weeping and wailing, horrified at her torture, and crying –
He kataman zal77idi durettida zal77anchchoti I metuwa babbidi iippe haakkidi eqqana. Entti yeekkananne kayottana.
16 “Alas! Alas! Great city! City clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet cloth! City adorned with gold ornaments, and precious stones, and pearls!
Qassi, ‘Liino ma7o, kaalose ma7onne zo7o ma7o ma77ada, worqqan, bonchcho shuchchaninne inqo giya al77o shuchchan alleeqettida, he gita katamees ayye!
17 In a single hour your vast wealth vanished.” Every ship’s captain and all who sail to any port, and sailors, and all who get their living from the sea, stood at a distance,
Hayssa mela gita shalo ubbay issi saate giddon dhays’ yaagidosona. Markkabiya laaggiya ubbay, markkabiyan biya ubbay, markkabiya bolla oothiya ubbaynne abban zal77iya ubbay haakki eqqidosona.
18 and seeing the smoke from the burning city, cried – “What city can compare with the Great city?”
He katamiya xuugettin keyaa cuya be7ida wode, “Ha gita katamiw daaniya hara katami de7ishshaa?” yaagidosona.
19 They threw dust on their heads, and, as they wept and wailed, they cried – “Alas! Alas! Great city! All who have ships on the sea grew rich through her magnificence. In a single hour it has vanished.”
Entti bantta huu7en baana qolidi, waassidosonanne kayottidosona. “Abbaa bolla markkabeti de7iya ubbay, I shaluwan durettida ubbay, he katamiya issi saaten dhayida gisho, ayye! Ayye!
20 Rejoice over her, heaven, and people of Christ, and apostles, and prophets, for God has avenged you on her!
Saluwaw, I dhayuwan ufaytta! Geeshshato, hawaareto, nabeto, Xoossay hintte gisho I bolla pirddida gisho ufayttite.” yaagidosona.
21 Then a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and threw it into the sea, crying – “So will Babylon, the great city, be violently overthrown, never more to be seen.
Yaatin, mino kiitanchchoy woxa daaniya gita shuchchu denthidi abban holishe, “Gita katamiya Baabilooney wolqqan holettada hayssada kunddana; iya hachchife guye ubbaka benttuku.
22 No more will the music of harpers, or minstrels, or flute players, or trumpeters be heard in you, no more will any worker, skilled in any art, be found in you; no more will the sound of a mill be heard in you;
Diithi diixeyssatinne yexeyssati, suusul77enne moyze punneyssati, hizappe guye ne giddon ubbaka si7ettokona. Ay kochcha zal77e zal77iya asikka ne giddon benttenna. Woxa girssi hizappe guye ne giddon si7ettenna.
23 no more will the light of a lamp shine in you; no more will the voices of groom and bride be heard in you. Your merchants were the great men of the earth, for all the nations were deceived by your magical charms.”
xomppe poo7oy zaaridi ne giddon poo7enna. Machcho ekkeysinne azina geliyari qaali hizappe guye ne giddon si7ettenna. Ne zal77anchchoti biitta ubban erettida wolqqaamata. Ne bitan kawotethata ubbaa cimmadasa” yaagis.
24 Yes, and in her was to be found the blood of the prophets and of Christ’s people, and of all who have been put to death on the earth.
Nabeta suuthay, geeshshata suuthaynne biitta bolla hayqqida asa ubbaa suuthay I giddon benttida gisho Baabilooney pirddettasu.
