Psalms 33
1 Shout for joy in the Lord, you righteous: praise for the upright is seemly.
VOI giusti, giubilate nel Signore; La lode [è] decevole agli [uomini] diritti.
2 Give thanks to the Lord on the lyre, play to him on a ten-stringed harp.
Celebrate il Signore colla cetera; Salmeggiategli col saltero [e col] decacordo.
3 Sing to him a new song, play skilfully and shout merrily.
Cantategli un nuovo cantico, Sonate maestrevolmente con giubilo.
4 For the Lord is straight in his promise; and all that he does is in faithfulness.
Perciocchè la parola del Signore è diritta; E tutte le sue opere [son fatte] con verità.
5 Justice and right he loves; the earth is full of his kindness.
Egli ama la giustizia e la dirittura; La terra è piena della benignità del Signore.
6 By his word the heavens were made, all their host by the breath of his mouth.
I cieli sono stati fatti per la parola del Signore, E tutto il loro esercito per lo soffio della sua bocca.
7 He gathers the sea in a bottle, the ocean he puts into store-houses.
Egli ha adunate le acque del mare come [in] un mucchio; Egli ha riposti gli abissi [come] in tesori.
8 Let the whole world honor the Lord, let all who live on earth be in awe.
Tutta la terra tema del Signore; Abbianne spavento tutti gli abitanti del mondo.
9 For at his word it came into being, at his command it stood forth.
Perciocchè egli disse [la parola], e [la cosa] fu; Egli comandò, e [la cosa] surse.
10 The Lord frustrates the designs of the nations, what the peoples have purposed, he brings to nought,
Il Signore dissipa il consiglio delle genti, Ed annulla i pensieri de' popoli.
11 but the Lord’s own design will stand forever, and what his heart has purposed, through all generations.
Il consiglio del Signore dimora in eterno; I pensieri del suo cuore [dimorano] per ogni età.
12 Happy the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he chose for himself as his own.
Beata la gente di cui il Signore [è] l'Iddio; [Beato] il popolo, [il quale] egli ha eletto per sua eredità.
13 The Lord looks down from heaven, he sees all of humanity;
Il Signore riguarda dal cielo, Egli vede tutti i figliuoli degli uomini.
14 from where he rules he gazes on all who inhabit the earth.
Egli mira, dalla stanza del suo seggio, Tutti gli abitanti della terra.
15 He fashions the hearts of them all, and gives heed to all that they do.
[Egli è quel] che ha formato il cuor di essi tutti, Che considera tutte le loro opere.
16 It is not by great armies that kings are victorious, it is not by great strength that a warrior saves himself;
Il re non è salvato per grandezza di esercito; L' [uomo] prode non iscampa per grandezza di forza.
17 false hope is the war-horse to usher in victory, for all its great might it can provide no escape.
Il cavallo [è] cosa fallace per salvare, E non può liberare colla grandezza della sua possa.
18 See! The eye of the Lord is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his kindness;
Ecco, l'occhio del Signore [è] inverso quelli che lo temono; Inverso quelli che sperano nella sua benignità;
19 to deliver their life from death, and to keep them alive in famine.
Per riscuoter l'anima loro dalla morte, E per conservarli in vita in [tempo di] fame.
20 We wait for the Lord: he is our help and our shield.
L'anima nostra attende il Signore; Egli [è] il nostro aiuto, e il nostro scudo.
21 For in him our heart is glad, we trust in his holy name.
Certo, il nostro cuore si rallegrerà in lui; Perciocchè noi ci siam confidati nel Nome della sua santità.
22 Let your kindness, O Lord, be upon us, as is our hope in you.
La tua benignità, o Signore, sia sopra noi, Siccome noi abbiamo sperato in te.
