< Psalms 149 >

1 Hallelujah. Sing to the Lord a new song, sound his praise where the faithful are gathered.
Alleluia. Cantate Domino canticum novum: laus eius in Ecclesia sanctorum.
2 Let Israel rejoice in its maker, sons of Zion exult in their king.
Lætetur Israel in eo, qui fecit eum: et filii Sion exultent in rege suo.
3 Let them praise his name in the dance, making music with lyre and with timbrel.
Laudent nomen eius in choro: in tympano, et psalterio psallant ei:
4 For the Lord delights in his people, adorning the humble with victory.
Quia beneplacitum est Domino in populo suo: et exaltabit mansuetos in salutem.
5 Let the faithful exult and extol him with glad ringing cries all night long.
Exultabunt sancti in gloria: lætabuntur in cubilibus suis.
6 High praises of God in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand:
Exaltationes Dei in gutture eorum: et gladii ancipites in manibus eorum:
7 on the heathen to execute vengeance, and chastisement sore on the nations,
Ad faciendam vindictam in nationibus: increpationes in populis.
8 binding their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron,
Ad alligandos reges eorum in compedibus: et nobiles eorum in manicis ferreis.
9 to execute on them the doom that is written. This is the glory of all his faithful. Hallelujah.
Ut faciant in eis iudicium conscriptum: gloria hæc est omnibus sanctis eius. Alleluia.
