Luke 4
1 On returning from the Jordan, full of the Holy Spirit, Jesus was led by the power of the Spirit through the wilderness for forty days, tempted by the devil.
| ישוע חזר מן הירדן מלא רוח הקודש, והרוח הובילה אותו אל המדבר – |
2 All that time he ate nothing; and, when it was over, he became hungry.
| שם ניסה אותו השטן במשך ארבעים יום. במשך כל אותו זמן לא אכל ישוע דבר, ובתום ימי הניסיון היה רעב מאוד. |
3 So the devil said to him, “If you are God’s Son, tell this stone to become a loaf of bread.”
| ”אם אתה באמת בן־אלוהים, “אמר לו השטן,”צווה על האבן הזאת להפוך ללחם!“ |
4 And Jesus answered him, “Scripture says – ‘It is not on bread alone that a person is to live.’”
| אולם ישוע השיב:”כתוב:’לא על הלחם לבדו יחיה האדם, (כי על כל מוצא פי ה)‘. “ |
5 And the devil led Jesus up, and showing him in a single moment all the kingdoms of the earth, said to him,
| לאחר מכן העלה השטן את ישוע, בחזיון רגעי הראה לו את כל המדינות המפוארות שבעולם ואמר: |
6 “I will give you all this power, and the splendor of them; for it has been given into my hands and I give it to whom I wish.
| ”אני אתן לך את כל הממלכות המפוארות האלה ואת כבודן – כי לי נמסר השלטון ורשאי אני לתת אותו למי שארצה – אבל בתנאי אחד: עליך לכרוע ברך ולהשתחוות לפני.“ |
7 If you worship me, it will all be yours.”
8 And Jesus answered him, “Scripture says – ‘You should worship the Lord your God, and worship him only.’”
| אולם ישוע השיב לו:”אך כתוב:’לה׳ אלוהיך תשתחווה, ואותו לבדו תעבוד‘. “ |
9 The devil next led him into Jerusalem, and, placing him on the parapet of the Temple, said, “If you are God’s Son throw yourself down from here,
| השטן לקח את ישוע לירושלים, העלהו על גג בית־המקדש ואמר:”אם אתה באמת בן־אלוהים, קפוץ למטה! |
10 for scripture says – ‘He will give his angels commands about you, to guard you safely,’
| הרי כתוב בתנ״ך:’כי מלאכיו יצווה לך לשמרך… |
11 And ‘On their hands they will lift you up, otherwise you might strike your foot against a stone.’”
| על כפיים ישאונך פן תיגוף באבן רגלך‘. “ |
12 But Jesus answered him, “It is said – ‘You must not tempt the Lord your God.’”
| ”אולם כתוב:’לא תנסה את ה׳ אלוהיך‘, “השיב לו ישוע. |
13 When he had tried every kind of temptation, the devil left Jesus, until another opportunity.
| כאשר סיים השטן לנסות את ישוע עזב אותו לנפשו עד לעת מועד. |
14 Moved by the power of the Spirit, Jesus returned to Galilee. Reports about him spread through all that region;
| לאחר מכן חזר ישוע לגליל כשהוא מלא בכוח רוח הקודש, ועד מהרה התפרסם בכל האזור. |
15 and he began to teach in their synagogues, and was honored by everyone.
| ישוע לימד את העם בבתי־הכנסת וכולם הללו ושיבחו אותו. |
16 Coming to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, Jesus, as was his custom, went on the Sabbath into the synagogue, and stood up to read the scriptures.
| ישוע בא אל נצרת – העיר שבה בילה את ילדותו – ובשבת הלך כמנהגו לבית־הכנסת. כשקם על רגליו כדי לקרוא את ההפטרה, |
17 He was given the book of the prophet Isaiah; and Jesus opened the book and found the place where it says –
| הגישו לו את ספר ישעיהו. ישוע פתח את המגילה וקרא בקול: |
18 ‘The Spirit of the Lord is on me, for he has consecrated me to bring good news to the poor, he has sent me to proclaim release to captives and restoration of sight to the blind, to set the oppressed at liberty,
| ”רוח ה׳ עלי, יען משח ה׳ אותי לבשר ענוים; שלחני לחבש לנשברי לב, לקרוא לשבוים דרור ולאסורים – פְּקַח־קוֹחַ; |
19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.’
| לקרוא שנת רצון לה׳.“ |
20 Then, closing the book and returning it to the attendant, he sat down. The eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him,
| ישוע גלל את המגילה, החזירה לחזן וישב במקומו. כל באי בית־הכנסת נעצו בו את עיניהם בציפייה, |
21 and Jesus began, “This very day this passage has been fulfilled in your hearing.”
| וישוע הוסיף:”היום התקיימו דברי הפסוקים האלה בקרבכם!“ |
22 All who were present spoke well of him, and were astonished at the beautiful words that fell from his lips. “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?” they asked.
| כולם הקשיבו לדבריו והתפלאו על דברי החן והחוכמה שיצאו מפיו.”איך ייתכן הדבר?“שאלו איש את רעהו.”האין זה בנו של יוסף?“ |
23 “Doubtless,” said Jesus, “you will remind me of the saying – ‘Doctor, cure yourself;’ and you will say ‘Do here in your own country all that we have heard that has been done at Capernaum.’
| ישוע ענה להם:”ודאי תאמרו לי:’רופא, רפא תחילה את עצמך!‘או במילים אחרות:’מדוע אינך מחולל כאן, בעיר מולדתך, את הניסים והנפלאות שחוללת בכפר־נחום?‘ |
24 I tell you,” he continued, “that no prophet is acceptable in his own country.
| אני אומר לכם: אין נביא בעירו! את הנביא מכבדים בכל מקום חוץ מאשר בביתו ובין בני־עמו. |
25 There were, doubtless, many widows in Israel in Elijah’s days, when the heavens were closed for three years and six months, and a severe famine prevailed throughout the country;
| ”בימי אליהו הנביא לא ירד גשם במשך שלוש וחצי שנים, והבצורת גרמה לרעב גדול בכל הארץ. למרות שהיו בישראל אלמנות רבות שרעבו ללחם, |
26 and yet it was not to one of them that Elijah was sent, but to a widow at Zarephath in Sidonia.
| לא שלח אלוהים את אליהו אל אף אחת מהן! אלוהים שלח את אליהו רק אל אלמנה לא יהודיה בעיירה צרפת שבצידון. |
27 And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of the prophet Elisha, yet it was not one of them who was made clean, but Naaman the Syrian.”
| או קחו לדוגמה את אלישע; אף כי בימי אלישע הנביא היו מצורעים רבים בישראל, הוא לא ריפא איש מהם, אלא דווקא את נעמן הארמי.“ |
28 All the people in the synagogue, as they listened to this, became enraged.
| דברי ישוע עוררו את זעמם. |
29 Starting up, they drove Jesus out of the town, and led him to the brow of the hill on which their town stood, intending to hurl him down.
| הם קפצו מכיסאותיהם ודחפו אותו אל מחוץ לעיר, אל פסגת ההר שעליו נבנתה נצרת, במטרה להשליכו במדרון. |
30 But he passed through the middle of the crowd and went on his way.
| אולם ישוע התחמק מהם והלך לדרכו. |
31 Then Jesus went down to Capernaum, a city in Galilee. On the Sabbath he taught the people.
| לאחר מכן הלך ישוע לכפר־נחום שבגליל, ומדי שבת לימד בבית־הכנסת. |
32 They were amazed at his teaching, because his words were spoken with authority.
| גם כאן נדהמו השומעים, כי ישוע דיבר בסמכות בלתי רגילה. |
33 In the synagogue there was a man with the spirit of a foul demon in him, who called out loudly,
| פעם כשלימד ישוע בבית־הכנסת צעק לפתע איש אחד אחוז רוח שד טמא: |
34 “Stop! What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are – the Holy One of God!”
| ”מדוע אתה מטריד אותנו, ישוע מנצרת, האם באת להשמיד את השדים? אני מכיר אותך; אתה בנו הקדוש של אלוהים!“ |
35 But Jesus rebuked the demon. “Be silent! Come out from him,” he said. The demon flung the man down in the middle of the people, and then came out from him, without causing him further harm.
| ישוע נזף בשד וציווה עליו:”שתוק וצא החוצה!“השד השליך את האיש על הרצפה לעיני כולם, ויצא ממנו בלי לפגוע בו שוב. |
36 And they were all lost in amazement, and kept saying to one another, “What words are these? For he gives his commands to the foul spirits with a marvelous authority, and they come out.”
| כולם נדהמו ושאלו איש את רעהו במבוכה:”מה המיוחד בדברי האיש הזה עד כי אפילו שדים מצייתים לו?“ |
37 And rumors about Jesus traveled through every place in the region.
| עד מהרה התפרסם סיפור המעשה בכל האזור. |
38 On leaving the synagogue, Jesus went into Simon’s house. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was suffering from a severe attack of fever, and they asked Jesus to cure her.
| לאחר שעזב ישוע את בית־הכנסת, הלך לביתו של שמעון וראה את חמותו של שמעון קודחת מחום.”אנא, רפא אותה“, התחננו לפניו כולם. |
39 Bending over her, he rebuked the fever; the fever left her, and she immediately got up and began to take care of them.
| ישוע עמד ליד מיטתה וגער בקדחת. מיד ירד החום, והיא קמה ממיטתה והכינה להם אוכל. |
40 At sunset, all who had friends suffering from various diseases took them to Jesus; and he placed his hands on everyone of them and cured them.
| עם שקיעת השמש הביאו תושבי הסביבה אל ישוע חברים ובני משפחה שחלו במחלות שונות. ישוע הניח את ידיו עליהם וריפא אותם. |
41 And even demons came out from many people, screaming ‘You are the Son of God.’ Jesus rebuked them, and would not allow them to speak, because they knew that he was the Christ.
| ישוע גם גירש שדים מאנשים רבים, ובצאתם נהגו השדים לקרוא בקול:”אתה הוא בן־האלוהים!“אולם ישוע השתיק אותם, בגלל שהם ידעו שהוא המשיח. |
42 At daybreak, Jesus went out and walked to a lonely spot. But crowds of people began to look for him; and they came to where he was and tried to detain him and prevent his leaving them.
| למחרת, השכם בבוקר, הלך ישוע למקום שומם כדי להתבודד. המוני העם חיפשו אותו בכל מקום, וכשמצאו אותו התחננו לפניו:”אנא, אל תעזוב אותנו; הישאר איתנו בכפר־נחום.“ |
43 Jesus, however, said to them, “I must take the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns too, for that was why I was sent.”
| אולם ישוע השיב להם:”עלי לבשר את דבר מלכות האלוהים גם בערים אחרות, כי זוהי מטרת שליחותי.“ |
44 And he continued to make his proclamation in the synagogues of Judea.
| וישוע המשיך ללמד בבתי־הכנסת השונים שבאזור יהודה. |
