John 8
1 except Jesus, who went to the Mount of Olives.
இயேசுவோ ஒலிவமலைக்குச் சென்றார்.
2 But he went again into the Temple Courts early in the morning, and all the people came to him; and he sat down and taught them.
அதிகாலையிலே அவர் மீண்டும் ஆலய முற்றத்திற்கு வந்தார். மக்கள் எல்லோரும் அவரைச் சுற்றிக் கூடிவந்தனர். இயேசு அவர்களுக்கு போதிப்பதற்காக உட்கார்ந்தார்.
3 Presently, however, the Teachers of the Law and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in adultery, and placed her in the middle of the Court,
அப்பொழுது மோசேயின் சட்ட ஆசிரியரும் பரிசேயரும் விபசாரத்தில் பிடிக்கப்பட்ட ஒரு பெண்ணை அங்கு கொண்டுவந்தார்கள். அவர்கள் அவளை அங்கிருந்த எல்லோருக்கும் நடுவாக நிறுத்தினார்கள்.
4 and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was found in the act of adultery.
அவர்கள் இயேசுவிடம், “போதகரே, இந்தப் பெண் விபசாரத்தில் ஈடுபட்டுக் கொண்டிருக்கும்போதே பிடிக்கப்பட்டாள்.
5 Now Moses, in the Law, commanded us to stone such women to death; what do you say?”
இப்படிப்பட்டவர்களைக் கல்லெறிந்து கொல்லவேண்டும் என்று மோசேயின் சட்டத்தில் மோசே எங்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டிருக்கிறார். இப்பொழுது நீர் என்ன சொல்கிறீர்?” என்றார்கள்.
6 They said this to test him, in order to have a charge to bring against him. But Jesus stooped down, and wrote on the ground with his finger.
இயேசுவுக்கு எதிராக ஒரு குற்றச்சாட்டைக் கொண்டுவரும்படி, ஒரு சூழ்ச்சியாக அவர்கள் இந்தக் கேள்வியை கேட்டார்கள். ஆனால் இயேசுவோ, குனிந்து தமது விரலினால் தரையிலே எழுதத் தொடங்கினார்.
7 However, as they continued asking him, he raised himself, and said, “Let the person among you who has never done wrong throw the first stone at her.”
அவர்கள் தொடர்ந்து அவரைக் கேள்வி கேட்டுக்கொண்டே இருந்ததினால், இயேசு நிமிர்ந்து அவர்களைப் பார்த்து, “உங்களில் யாராவது பாவமில்லாதவன் இருந்தால், அவன் முதலாவதாக இவள்மேல் கல்லெறியட்டும்” என்றார்.
8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.
இயேசு மீண்டும் குனிந்து தரையில் எழுதினார்.
9 When they heard that, they went out one by one, beginning with the eldest; and Jesus was left alone with the woman in the middle of the Court.
அப்பொழுது, இதைக் கேட்டவர்களில், முதியோர் தொடங்கி சிறியோர் வரை ஒவ்வொருவராகப் போகத் தொடங்கினார்கள். இயேசு மட்டும் அங்கே இருந்தார். அந்தப் பெண்ணும் அங்கே நடுவே நின்றுகொண்டிருந்தாள்.
10 Raising himself, Jesus said to her, “Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?”
இயேசு நிமிர்ந்து அவளைப் பார்த்து, “மகளே, அவர்கள் எங்கே? ஒருவனும் உன்னைக் குற்றவாளியாகத் தீர்க்கவில்லையோ?” என்று கேட்டார்.
11 “No one, Sir,” she answered. “Neither do I condemn you,” said Jesus “go, and do not sin again.”
அதற்கு அவள், “இல்லை ஆண்டவரே” என்றாள். அப்பொழுது இயேசு அவளிடம், “நானும் உன்னை குற்றவாளியாகத் தீர்க்கமாட்டேன். இப்பொழுது நீ போகலாம், இனிப் பாவம் செய்யாதே” என்றார்.
12 Jesus again addressed the people. “I am the light of the world,” he said. “The person who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
மீண்டும் இயேசு மக்களுடன் பேசத்தொடங்கி, “நானே உலகத்தின் வெளிச்சமாய் இருக்கிறேன். என்னைப் பின்பற்றுகிறவன் ஒருபோதும் இருளில் நடக்கமாட்டான். ஜீவ வெளிச்சம் அவர்களுடன் இருக்கும்” என்றார்.
13 “You are bearing testimony to yourself!” exclaimed the Pharisees, “your testimony is not trustworthy.”
அப்பொழுது பரிசேயர் இயேசுவிடம், “இதோ பார், நீயே உன்னைக் குறித்த சாட்சி கொடுக்கிறாயே; உனது சாட்சி உண்மையல்ல” என்றார்கள்.
14 “Even if I bear testimony to myself,” answered Jesus, “my testimony is trustworthy; for I know where I came from, and where I am going; but you do not know where I come from, nor where I am going.
இயேசு அதற்குப் பதிலாக, “நானே என்னைக்குறித்து சாட்சி கொடுத்தாலும், எனது சாட்சி உண்மையானதே. ஏனெனில் நான் எங்கிருந்து வந்திருக்கிறேன் என்றும், நான் எங்கே போகிறேன் என்றும் அறிந்திருக்கிறேன். ஆனால் நீங்களோ நான் எங்கிருந்து வந்திருக்கிறேன் என்றும், எங்கே போகிறேன் என்றும் அறியாதிருக்கிறீர்கள்.
15 You judge by appearances; I judge no one.
நீங்கள் மனிதருக்கேற்றபடி தீர்ப்புச் செய்கிறீர்கள்; நானோ ஒருவருக்கும் தீர்ப்புச் செய்வதில்லை.
16 Yet, even if I were to judge, my judgment would be trustworthy; because I am not alone, but the Father who sent me is with me.
நான் தீர்ப்பு செய்தாலும், எனது தீர்ப்பு உண்மையானதாகவே இருக்கும். ஏனெனில் நான் தனியாக தீர்ப்பு கொடுப்பதில்லை. என்னை அனுப்பிய என் பிதாவும் என்னுடனேகூட இருக்கிறார்.
17 Why, in your own Law it is said that the testimony of two persons is trustworthy.
இரண்டு பேருடைய சாட்சி உண்மையானது என்று உங்கள் சொந்த சட்டத்திலே எழுதியிருக்கிறது.
18 I, who bear testimony to myself, am one, and the Father who sent me also bears testimony to me.”
நான் என்னைக்குறித்து சாட்சி கொடுக்கிறேன்; என்னை அனுப்பிய பிதாவே எனது இரண்டாவது சாட்சியாயிருக்கிறார்” என்றார்.
19 “Where is your father, then?” they asked. “You know neither me nor my Father,” replied Jesus. “If you had known me, you would have also known my Father.”
அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் அவரிடம், “உமது பிதா எங்கே?” என்றார்கள். அதற்கு இயேசு, “என்னையோ, என் பிதாவையோ நீங்கள் அறியாமல் இருக்கிறீர்கள். நீங்கள் என்னை அறிந்தால், என் பிதாவையுங்கூட அறிந்திருப்பீர்கள்” என்றார்.
20 These statements Jesus made in the Treasury, while teaching in the Temple Courts. Yet no one arrested him, for his time had not then come.
இயேசு ஆலயப் பகுதியில் போதிக்கும்போது, காணிக்கை போடுகிற இடத்தின் அருகே நின்று, இந்த வார்த்தைகளைப் பேசினார். ஆனால் ஒருவனும் அவரைக் கைதுசெய்யவில்லை. ஏனெனில் அவருடைய நேரம் இன்னும் வரவில்லை.
21 Jesus again spoke to the people. “I am going away,” he said, “and you will look for me, but you will die in your sin; you cannot come where I am going.”
மீண்டும் இயேசு அவர்களிடம், “நான் போகிறேன். நீங்கள் என்னைத் தேடுவீர்கள். ஆனால் நீங்கள் உங்கள் பாவத்திலேயே சாவீர்கள். நான் போகிற இடத்திற்கு உங்களால் வரமுடியாது” என்றார்.
22 “Is he going to kill himself,” the people exclaimed, “that he says – ‘You cannot go where I am going’?”
அப்பொழுது யூதர்கள், “இவன் தற்கொலை செய்துகொள்ள போகிறானா? அதனால்தான், ‘நான் போகிற இடத்திற்கு உங்களால் வரமுடியாது’ என்று சொல்கிறானோ!” என்று கேட்டார்கள்.
23 “You,” added Jesus, “are from below, I am from above; you are of this present world, I am not;
இயேசு தொடர்ந்து அவர்களிடம், “நீங்கள் கீழேயிருந்து வந்தவர்கள்; நான் மேலேயிருந்து வந்தவன். நீங்கள் இந்த உலகத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவர்கள்; நான் இந்த உலகத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவன் அல்ல.
24 and so I told you that you would die in your sins, for, unless you believe that I am what I am, you will die in your sins.”
நீங்கள் உங்கள் பாவங்களிலேயே சாவீர்கள் என்று நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொன்னேன்; நானே அவர் என்று நீங்கள் விசுவாசிக்காவிட்டால், நீங்கள் உங்கள் பாவங்களில் சாவீர்கள்” என்றார்.
25 “Who are you?” they asked. “Why ask exactly what I have been telling you?” said Jesus.
அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் இயேசுவிடம், “நீர் யார்?” என்று கேட்டார்கள். அதற்கு பதிலாக, “அதைத்தான் நான் தொடக்கத்திலிருந்தே உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேனே” என்று இயேசு சொல்லி,
26 “I have still much that concerns you to speak of and to pass judgment on; yet he who sent me may be trusted, and I speak to the world only of the things which I have heard from him.”
“உங்களைப் பற்றிச் சொல்லவும், நியாயத்தீர்ப்பு அளிக்கவும் என்னிடம் அநேக காரியங்கள் இருக்கிறது. ஆனால் என்னை அனுப்பியவரிடமிருந்து கேட்டதை மட்டும் நான் உலகத்திற்கு அறிவிக்கிறேன். ஏனென்றால் என்னை அனுப்பியவர் உண்மையுள்ளவராய் இருக்கிறார்” என்றார்.
27 They did not understand that he meant the Father.
இயேசு பிதாவாகிய இறைவனைக் குறித்தே பேசுகிறார் என்று அவர்கள் விளங்கிக்கொள்ளவில்லை.
28 So Jesus added, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will understand that I am what I am, and that I do nothing of myself, but that I say just what the Father has taught me.
எனவே இயேசு அவர்களிடம், “நீங்கள் மானிடமகனாகிய என்னை உயர்த்திய பின்பு, நானே அவர் என்றும், எனது சுயமாக நான் ஒன்றும் செய்கிறதில்லையென்றும், பிதா எனக்கு போதித்தபடியே நான் இவற்றைச் சொல்கிறேன் என்றும் அறிந்துகொள்வீர்கள்.
29 Moreover, he who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone; for I always do what pleases him.”
என்னை அனுப்பிய பிதா என்னுடனே இருக்கிறார்; அவர் என்னைத் தனிமையாய் விட்டுவிடவில்லை. ஏனெனில் அவருக்குப் பிரியமானதையே நான் எப்பொழுதும் செய்கிறேன்” என்றார்.
30 While he was speaking in this way, many came to believe in him.
அவர் இந்தக் காரியங்களைக் குறித்துச் சொன்னபோது, பலர் அவரில் விசுவாசம் வைத்தார்கள்.
31 So Jesus went on to say to those who had believed him, “If you remain constant to my message, you are truly my disciples;
இயேசு தம்மை விசுவாசித்த யூதர்களிடம், “நீங்கள் எனது உபதேசத்தில் தொடர்ந்து நிலைத்திருந்தால், நீங்கள் உண்மையாகவே எனது சீடர்களாய் இருப்பீர்கள்.
32 and you will find out the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
அப்பொழுது நீங்கள் சத்தியத்தை அறிந்துகொள்வீர்கள். சத்தியம் உங்களை விடுதலையாக்கும்” என்றார்.
33 “We are descendants of Abraham,” was their answer, “and have never yet been in slavery to anyone. What do you mean by saying ‘you will be set free’?”
அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் இயேசுவிடம், “நாங்கள் ஆபிரகாமின் சந்ததியாயிருக்கிறோம். நாங்கள் ஒருபோதும் ஒருவருக்கும் அடிமைகளாய் இருந்ததில்லை. அப்படியிருக்க நாங்கள் விடுதலையாவோம் என்று நீர் எப்படிச் சொல்லலாம்?” என்றார்கள்.
34 “In truth I tell you,” replied Jesus, “everyone who sins is a slave to sin.
அதற்கு இயேசு பதிலாக, “மெய்யாகவே மெய்யாகவே நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன். பாவம் செய்கிற ஒவ்வொருவரும் பாவத்திற்கு அடிமையாய் இருக்கிறார்கள்.
ஒரு அடிமைக்குக் குடும்பத்தில் நிரந்தர இடம் இருப்பதில்லை. ஆனால் மகனோ குடும்பத்திற்கு என்றென்றும் சொந்தமானவனாயிருக்கிறான். (aiōn g165)
36 If, then, the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed!
ஆகவே இறைவனின் மகன் உங்களை விடுதலையாக்கினால், நீங்கள் உண்மையாகவே விடுதலை பெறுவீர்கள்.
37 I know that you are descendants of Abraham; yet you are seeking to put me to death, because my message finds no place in your hearts.
நீங்கள் ஆபிரகாமின் சந்ததியாரென்று எனக்குத் தெரியும். ஆனால் நீங்கள் என்னைக் கொல்வதற்கு ஆயத்தமாய் இருக்கிறீர்கள். ஏனெனில் எனது வார்த்தைக்கு உங்கள் உள்ளத்தில் இடமில்லை.
38 I tell you what I have myself seen in the presence of my Father; and you, in the same way, do what you have learned from your father.”
எனது பிதாவின் முன்னிலையில் கண்டவற்றையே நான் அறிவிக்கிறேன். ஆனால் நீங்களோ உங்கள் தகப்பனிடமிருந்து கேள்விப்பட்டதையே செய்கிறீர்கள்” என்றார்.
39 “Our father is Abraham,” was their answer. “If you are Abraham’s children,” replied Jesus, “do what Abraham did.
அதற்கு அவர்கள், “ஆபிரகாமே எங்கள் தந்தை” என்றார்கள். இயேசுவோ அவர்களிடம், “நீங்கள் ஆபிரகாமின் பிள்ளைகளானால் ஆபிரகாம் செய்தவற்றையே நீங்களும் செய்வீர்கள்.
40 But, as it is, you are seeking to put me to death – a man who has told you the truth as he heard it from God. Abraham did not act in that way.
ஆனால் நீங்களோ, இறைவனிடம் கேட்டறிந்த சத்தியத்தை உங்களுக்குச் சொன்ன மனிதனான என்னைக் கொலைசெய்யத் திட்டமிட்டிருக்கிறீர்கள். ஆபிரகாம் இப்படியான காரியங்களைச் செய்யவில்லையே.
41 You are doing what your own father does.” “We are not bastards,” they said, “we have one Father – God himself.”
நீங்கள் உங்கள் சொந்தத் தகப்பன் செய்ததையே செய்கிறீர்கள்” என்றார். அதற்கு அவர்கள் அவரிடம், “நாங்கள் வேசித்தனத்தினால் பிறந்தவர்கள் இல்லை. இறைவன் ஒருவரே எங்களுக்கும் பிதா” என்றார்கள்.
42 “If God were your Father,” Jesus replied, “you would have loved me, for I came out from God, and now am here; and I have not come of myself, but he sent me as his messenger.
அப்பொழுது இயேசு அவர்களிடம், “இறைவன் உங்கள் பிதாவாக இருந்தால், நீங்கள் என்னிலும் அன்பாயிருப்பீர்கள். ஏனெனில் இப்பொழுது இங்கே இருக்கின்ற நான் இறைவனிடமிருந்தே வந்தேன். நான் எனது சுயவிருப்பத்தின்படி வரவில்லை; அவரே என்னை அனுப்பினார்.
43 How is it that you do not understand what I say? It is because you cannot bear to listen to my message.
நான் சொல்வது ஏன் உங்களுக்குத் தெளிவாய் இல்லை? நான் சொல்வதைக் கேட்க உங்களுக்கு மனதில்லாமல் இருக்கிறதினால்தானே.
44 As for you, you are children of your father the devil, and you are determined to do what your father loves to do. He was a murderer from the first, and did not stand by the truth, because there is no truth in him. Whenever he lies, he does what is natural to him; because he is a liar, and the father of lying.
நீங்கள் உங்கள் தகப்பனான சாத்தானுக்கு உரியவர்கள். உங்கள் தகப்பனின் ஆசைகளைச் செய்யவே நீங்கள் விரும்புகிறீர்கள். அவன் தொடக்கத்திலிருந்தே கொலைகாரனாய் இருக்கிறான். அவனிடம் சத்தியமில்லை. அதனால் அவன் சத்தியத்தில் நிலைத்திருப்பதில்லை. அவன் பொய் பேசும்போது தன் சொந்த மொழியையே பேசுகிறான். ஏனெனில் அவன் ஒரு பொய்யன், பொய்களின் தகப்பன்.
45 But, as for me, it is because I speak the truth to you that you do not believe me.
இருந்தும் நானோ உங்களுக்கு சத்தியத்தை சொல்கிறபடியால், நீங்கள் என்னை விசுவாசிக்காமல் இருக்கிறீர்கள்.
46 Which of you can convict me of sin? Why then don’t you believe me, if I am speaking truth?
நான் பாவம் செய்தேன் என்று என்னைக் குற்றம் சாட்டி நிரூபிக்க உங்களில் எவனால் முடியும்? நான் உங்களுக்கு சத்தியத்தைச் சொல்லியும், நீங்கள் ஏன் என்னை விசுவாசிக்காமல் இருக்கிறீர்கள்?
47 The person who comes from God listens to God’s teaching; the reason why you do not listen is because you do not come from God.”
யார் இறைவனுக்குரியவராய் இருக்கிறவர்கள், அவன் இறைவன் சொல்லும் வார்த்தையைக் கேட்கிறான். நீங்களோ இறைவனுக்குரியவர்கள் அல்லாதபடியினாலே, இறைவனுடைய வார்த்தையைக் கேளாமல் இருக்கிறீர்கள்” என்றார்.
48 “Aren’t we right, after all,” replied the people, “in saying that you are a Samaritan, and are possessed by a demon?”
அப்பொழுது யூதத்தலைவர்கள் அவரிடம், “நீ ஒரு சமாரியன். நீ பிசாசு பிடித்தவன் என்று நாங்கள் சொன்னது சரியல்லவா?” என்றார்கள்.
49 “I am not possessed by a demon,” Jesus answered, “but I am honoring my Father; and yet you dishonor me.
அதற்கு இயேசு, “நான் பிசாசு பிடித்தவன் அல்ல. நான் என் பிதாவைக் கனம்பண்ணுகிறேன். நீங்களோ என்னை அவமதிக்கிறீர்கள்.
50 Not that I am seeking honor for myself; there is one who is seeking my honor, and he decides.
நான் எனது சுய மகிமையைத் தேடவில்லை; ஆனால் எனக்காக மகிமையைத் தேடுகிறவரும் நியாயந்தீர்க்கிறவரும் ஒருவர் இருக்கிறாரே.
நான் உங்களுக்கு உண்மையைச் சொல்கிறேன், யாராவது எனது வார்த்தையைக் கைக்கொண்டால், அவர்கள் ஒருபோதும் மரணத்தைக் காணமாட்டார்கள்” என்றார். (aiōn g165)
52 “Now we are sure that you are possessed by a demon,” the people replied. “Abraham died, and so did the prophets; and yet you say ‘If anyone lays my message to heart, they will never know death.’ (aiōn g165)
அப்பொழுது யூதத்தலைவர்கள், “உனக்குப் பிசாசு பிடித்திருக்கிறது என்று இப்பொழுது நாங்கள் நன்றாய் தெரிந்துகொண்டோம். ஆபிரகாம் இறந்தார், இறைவாக்கினர்களும் இறந்தார்கள். ஆனால் நீயோ, யாராவது உனது வார்த்தையைக் கைக்கொண்டால், அவர்கள் எவ்விதத்திலும் மரணத்தை அனுபவிப்பதில்லை என்று சொல்கிறாய். (aiōn g165)
53 Are you greater than our ancestor Abraham, who died? And the prophets died too. Whom do you make yourself out to be?”
நீ எங்கள் தகப்பன் ஆபிரகாமைப் பார்க்கிலும் பெரியவனோ? அவர் மரித்தார், அப்படியே இறைவாக்கினரும் மரித்தார்கள். நீ உன்னை யார் என்று எண்ணுகிறாய்?” என்று கேட்டார்கள்.
54 “If I do honor to myself,” answered Jesus, “such honor counts for nothing. It is my Father who does me honor – and you say that he is your God;
இயேசு அதற்கு மறுமொழியாக, “நானே என்னை மகிமைப்படுத்தினால், எனது மகிமை அர்த்தமற்றது. நீங்கள் உங்கள் இறைவன் என்று உரிமையோடு சொல்கிற, எனது பிதாவே என்னை மகிமைப்படுத்துகிறவர்.
55 and yet you have not learned to know him; but I know him; and, if I were to say that I do not know him, I should be a liar like you; but I do know him, and I lay his message to heart.
நீங்கள் அவரை அறியாதிருந்தாலும், நான் அவரை அறிந்திருக்கிறேன். நான் அவரை அறியவில்லை என்று சொன்னால், நானும் உங்களைப்போலவே ஒரு பொய்யனாய் இருப்பேன். ஆனால் நானோ அவரை அறிந்திருக்கிறேன். அவரின் வார்த்தையைக் கைக்கொள்கிறேன்.
56 Your ancestor Abraham rejoiced that he would see my day; and he did see it, and was glad.”
உங்கள் முற்பிதாவான ஆபிரகாம் எனது நாளைக் காண்பதை எண்ணி மகிழ்ச்சி கொண்டிருந்தான்; அதைக்கண்டு அவன் சந்தோஷப்பட்டான்” என்றார்.
57 “You are not fifty years old yet,” the people exclaimed, “and have you seen Abraham?”
அப்பொழுது யூதத்தலைவர்கள் அவரிடம், “உனக்கோ இன்னும் ஐம்பது வயதாகவில்லை. நீ ஆபிரகாமைக் கண்டாயோ!” என்றார்கள்.
58 “In truth I tell you,” replied Jesus, “before Abraham existed I was.”
அதற்கு இயேசு, “மெய்யாகவே, மெய்யாகவே நான் உங்களுக்கு சொல்கிறேன், ஆபிரகாம் பிறப்பதற்கு முன்னமே இருக்கிறவர் நானே” என்றார்.
59 At this they took up stones to throw at him; but Jesus hid himself, and left the Temple Courts.
இதைக் கேட்டவுடன் அவர்மேல் எறியும்படி அவர்கள் கற்களை எடுத்துக்கொண்டார்கள். ஆனால் இயேசுவோ அவர்கள் நடுவே கடந்து ஆலயப் பகுதியை விட்டு வெளியே போய்விட்டார்.
