Hebrews 9
1 It is true that even the first covenant had its regulations for divine worship, and its sanctuary – though only a material one.
Giao ước thứ nhất đã được thiết lập giữa Đức Chúa Trời và người Ít-ra-ên để quy định cách thờ phượng và xây dựng một Đền Thánh trên mặt đất.
2 For a tent was constructed, with an outer part which contained the stand for the lamps, and the table, and the consecrated bread. This is called the sanctuary.
Sau đó, Đền Tạm được dựng lên, gồm hai phần. Phần thứ nhất gọi là Nơi Thánh có đặt giá đèn và bàn để bánh trần thiết.
3 The part of the tent behind the second curtain is called the inner sanctuary.
Phần thứ hai, bên trong bức màn, gọi là Nơi Chí Thánh.
4 In it is the gold incense-altar, and the ark containing the covenant, completely covered with gold. In the ark is a gold casket containing the manna, Aaron’s rod that budded, and the tablets on which the covenant was written;
Nơi đây có bàn thờ xông hương bằng vàng và hòm giao ước bọc vàng. Trong hòm giao ước, có chiếc bình vàng đựng ma-na, cây gậy A-rôn đã nứt lộc và hai bảng đá khắc mười điều răn.
5 while above it, and overshadowing the cover on which atonement was made, are the cherubim of the presence. Now is not the time to discuss these things in detail.
Trên hòm giao ước, có hai chê-ru-bim rực rỡ hào quang, cánh xòe ra che phủ nắp rương. Nhưng ở đây chúng ta không cần đi sâu vào chi tiết.
6 Such, then, was the arrangement of the tent. Into the outer part priests are constantly going, in the discharge of their sacred duties;
Khi mọi thứ này đã được bày trí, các thầy tế lễ có thể thường xuyên vào Nơi Thánh để thi hành nhiệm vụ.
7 but into the inner only the high priest goes, and that but once a year, and never without taking the blood of a victim, which he offers on his own behalf, and on behalf of the errors of the people.
Nhưng chỉ có thầy thượng tế mới được vào Nơi Chí Thánh mỗi năm một lần, và phải đem máu dâng lên Đức Chúa Trời vì tội lầm lỡ của chính mình và của toàn dân.
8 By this the Holy Spirit is teaching that the way into the sanctuary was hidden, as long as the outer part of the tent still remained.
Chúa Thánh Linh dùng những điều này để dạy chúng ta: Nếu giao ước cũ vẫn còn thì dân chúng chưa được vào Nơi Chí Thánh.
9 For that was only a type, to continue down to the present time; and, in keeping with it, both gifts and sacrifices are offered, though incapable of satisfying the conscience of the worshiper;
Điều này chứng tỏ lễ vật và sinh tế không thể hoàn toàn tẩy sạch lương tâm loài người.
10 the whole system being concerned only with food and drink and various ablutions – external ceremonials imposed until the coming of the new order.
Vì giao ước cũ qui định các thức ăn uống, cách tẩy uế, nghi lễ, luật lệ phải thi hành cho đến kỳ Đức Chúa Trời cải cách toàn diện.
11 But, when Christ came, he appeared as high priest of that better system which was established; and he entered through that nobler and more perfect tent, not made by human hands – that is to say, not a part of this present creation.
Chúa Cứu Thế đã đến, giữ chức Thầy Thượng Tế của thời kỳ tốt đẹp hiện nay. Chúa đã vào Đền Thờ vĩ đại và toàn hảo trên trời, không do tay người xây cất vì không thuộc trần gian.
12 Nor was it with the blood of goats and calves, but with his own blood, that he entered, once and for all, into the sanctuary, and obtained our eternal deliverance. (aiōnios g166)
Ngài không mang máu của dê đực, bò con, nhưng dâng chính máu Ngài trong Nơi Chí Thánh, để đem lại sự cứu rỗi đời đời cho chúng ta. (aiōnios g166)
13 For, if the blood of goats and bulls, and the sprinkling of the ashes of a heifer, purify those who have been defiled (as far as ceremonial purification goes),
Máu của dê đực, bò đực và tro bò cái tơ rảy trên những người ô uế còn có thể thánh hóa, tẩy sạch thân thể họ,
14 how much more will the blood of the Christ, who, through his eternal Spirit, offered himself up to God, as a victim without blemish, purify our consciences from a lifeless formality, and fit us for the service of the living God! (aiōnios g166)
huống chi máu của Chúa Cứu Thế lại càng có năng lực tẩy sạch lương tâm chúng ta khỏi hành vi tội lỗi, để chúng ta phụng sự Đức Chúa Trời hằng sống cách trong sạch. Vì Chúa Cứu Thế đã nhờ Chúa Thánh Linh hiến dâng thân Ngài làm sinh tế hoàn toàn cho Đức Chúa Trời. (aiōnios g166)
15 And that is why he is the intermediary of a new covenant; in order that, as a death has taken place to effect a deliverance from the offenses committed under the first covenant, those who have received the call may obtain the eternal inheritance promised to them. (aiōnios g166)
Do đó, Chúa Cứu Thế làm Đấng Trung Gian của giao ước mới; Ngài đã chịu chết để cứu chuộc loài người khỏi mọi vi phạm chiếu theo giao ước cũ. Nhờ Ngài, những ai được Đức Chúa Trời mời gọi đều tiếp nhận phước hạnh vĩnh cửu như Đức Chúa Trời đã hứa. (aiōnios g166)
16 Whenever such a covenant as a will is in question, the death of the testator must of necessity be alleged.
Người ta không thể thi hành một chúc thư khi chưa có bằng chứng người viết chúc thư đã chết,
17 For such a covenant takes effect only on death, it does not come into force as long as the testator is alive.
vì chúc thư chỉ có hiệu lực khi người ấy qua đời. Nếu người ấy còn sống, chúc thư chưa có hiệu lực.
18 This explains why even the first covenant was not ratified without the shedding of blood.
Vì thế, giao ước cũ cần được máu ấn chứng mới có hiệu lực.
19 For, when every command had been announced to all the people by Moses in accordance with the Law, he took the blood of the calves and of the goats, with water, scarlet wool, and a bunch of hyssop, and sprinkled even the book of the Law, as well as all the people,
Sau khi công bố các điều khoản luật pháp cho dân chúng, Môi-se lấy máu bò con và máu dê đực cùng với nước, dùng lông chiên đỏ tươi và cành phương thảo rảy máu trên sách luật và dân chúng.
20 saying, as he did so – “This is the blood that renders valid the covenant which God has commanded to be made with you.”
Ông nói: “Đây là máu của giao ước Đức Chúa Trời đã thiết lập cho các ngươi.”
21 And in the same way he also sprinkled with the blood the tent and all the things that were used in public worship.
Môi-se cũng rảy máu trên Đền Tạm và mỗi dụng cụ thờ phượng.
22 Indeed, under the Law, almost everything is purified with blood; and, unless blood is shed, no forgiveness is to be obtained.
Vậy, theo luật pháp, máu tẩy sạch hầu hết mọi vật: Nếu không đổ máu, tội lỗi chẳng bao giờ được tha thứ.
23 While, then, it was necessary for the copies of the heavenly realities to be purified by such means as these, the heavenly realities themselves required better sacrifices.
Nếu các vật dưới đất—là mô hình của các vật trên trời—được tẩy sạch nhờ máu sinh tế, thì các vật thật trên trời phải dùng máu sinh tế có giá trị hơn muôn phần.
24 For it was not into a sanctuary made by human hands, which merely foreshadowed the true one, that Christ entered, but into heaven itself, so that he might now appear in the presence of God on our behalf.
Chúa Cứu Thế không vào Đền Thánh dưới đất do con người xây cất, mô phỏng theo Đền Thánh thật. Nhưng Ngài đã vào Đền Thánh trên trời, và đang thay mặt chúng ta đến gặp Đức Chúa Trời.
25 Nor yet was it to offer himself may times, as year after year the high priest entered the sanctuary with an offering of blood – but not his own blood;
Chúa cũng không dâng thân Ngài nhiều lần, như các thầy thượng tế Do Thái mỗi năm phải đem máu sinh tế vào Nơi Chí Thánh.
26 for then Christ would have had to undergo death many times since the creation of the world. But now, once and for all, at the close of the age, he has appeared, in order to abolish sin by the sacrifice of himself. (aiōn g165)
Không lẽ từ khi sáng tạo vũ trụ đến nay, Ngài đã phải chịu chết nhiều lần sao? Không, Chúa Cứu Thế chỉ xuất hiện một lần vào cuối các thời đại, dâng thân Ngài làm sinh tế để xóa sạch tất cả tội lỗi chúng ta. (aiōn g165)
27 And, as it is ordained for people to die but once (death being followed by judgment),
Theo như đã định, mỗi người chỉ chết một lần rồi bị Chúa xét xử.
28 so it is with the Christ. He was offered up once and for all, to bear away the sins of many; and the second time he will appear – but without any burden of sin – to those who are waiting for him, to bring salvation.
Cũng thế, Chúa Cứu Thế chỉ hy sinh tính mạng một lần là đủ gánh thay tội lỗi loài người. Ngài sẽ trở lại, không phải gánh tội lỗi nữa, nhưng để cứu rỗi những người trông đợi Ngài.
