Galatians 1
1 To the churches in Galatia, from Paul, an apostle whose commission is not from any human authority and is given, not by human beings, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father who raised him from the dead;
Paul, apôtre, non par le fait des hommes, ou par l'entremise d'un homme, mais par Jésus-Christ et Dieu le Père qui l'a ressuscité des morts,
2 and from all the followers of the Lord here.
et tous les frères qui sont avec moi, aux églises de Galatie:
3 May God, our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ, bless you and give you peace.
Que la grâce et la paix vous soient données par Dieu le Père et par notre seigneur Jésus-Christ,
4 For Christ, to rescue us from this present wicked age, gave himself for our sins, in accordance with the will of our God and Father, (aiōn g165)
qui s'est lui-même donné pour nos péchés, afin de nous arracher du présent siècle mauvais, selon la volonté de notre Dieu et Père, (aiōn g165)
auquel gloire soit rendue pour les siècles des siècles. Amen! (aiōn g165)
6 I am astonished at your so soon deserting him, who called you through the love of Christ, for a different ‘good news,’
Je m'étonne que vous désertiez si vite Celui qui vous a appelés par la grâce de Christ, pour passer à un autre évangile;
7 which is really no good news at all. But then, I know that there are people who are harassing you, and who want to pervert the good news of the Christ.
ce qui ne vient d'autre chose que de ce qu'il y a quelques personnes qui vous troublent, et qui veulent renverser l'évangile de Christ.
8 Yet even if we – or if an angel from heaven were to tell you any other ‘good news’ than that which we told you, may he be accursed!
Mais, à supposer que nous-mêmes, ou un ange venu du ciel vous prêchât un évangile différent de celui que nous vous avons prêché, qu'il soit anathème!
9 We have said it before, and I repeat it now – If anyone tells you a ‘good news’ other than that which you received, may he be accursed!
Comme nous vous l'avons déjà dit, et comme je vous le redis maintenant: si quelqu'un vous prêche un évangile différent de celui que vous avez reçu, qu'il soit anathème!
10 Is this, I ask, trying to conciliate people, or God? Am I seeking to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I should not be a servant of Christ.
Eh bien, maintenant, est-ce la faveur des hommes que j'ambitionne, ou celle de Dieu? Ou bien, est-ce que je cherche à plaire aux hommes? Si je plaisais encore aux hommes, je ne serais pas un esclave de Christ;
11 I remind you, friends, that the good news which I told is no mere human invention.
car je vous fais savoir, frères, que l'évangile qui a été prêché par moi n'a rien d'humain,
12 I, at least, did not receive it from any human being, nor was I taught it, but it came to me through a revelation made by Jesus Christ.
car, moi non plus, ce n'est pas par un homme que je l'ai reçu, ou que j'ai été instruit, mais par une révélation de Jésus-Christ.
13 You heard, no doubt, of my conduct when I was devoted to Judaism – how I persecuted the church of God to an extent beyond belief, and tried to destroy it,
Vous avez en effet ouï parler de la conduite que j'ai tenue jadis dans le judaïsme, comment je poursuivais à outrance l'église de Dieu, et comment je la dévastais,
14 and how, in my devotion to Judaism, I surpassed many of my contemporaries among my own people in my intense earnestness in upholding the traditions of my ancestors.
et comment j'étais plus avancé dans le judaïsme que plusieurs de mes compatriotes de mon âge, étant animé d'un beaucoup plus grand zèle pour les traditions de mes pères.
15 But when God, who had set me apart even before my birth, and who called me by his love,
Mais, quand Celui qui m'a mis à part dès le sein de ma mère, et qui m'a appelé par Sa grâce,
16 saw fit to reveal his Son in me, so that I might tell the good news of him among the Gentiles, then at once, instead of consulting any human being,
jugea bon de me révéler intérieurement Son fils, afin que j'en annonçasse la bonne nouvelle parmi les Gentils, aussitôt, sans prendre conseil de la chair et du sang,
17 or even going up to Jerusalem to see those who were apostles before me, I went to Arabia, and came back again to Damascus.
sans me rendre non plus à Jérusalem auprès des apôtres qui m'ont précédé, je me rendis au contraire en Arabie, puis je revins à Damas.
18 Three years afterward I went up to Jerusalem to make the acquaintance of Peter, and I stayed a fortnight with him.
Ensuite, au bout de trois ans, je retournai à Jérusalem pour faire la connaissance de Céphas, et je restai quinze jours auprès de lui;
19 I did not, however, see any other apostle, except James, the Master’s brother.
mais je ne vis aucun autre des apôtres, sauf Jacques le frère du Seigneur.
20 (As to what I am now writing to you, I call God to witness that I am speaking the truth).
Ce que je vous écris là, voici, devant Dieu, je ne mens point.
21 Afterward I went to the districts of Syria and Cilicia.
Ensuite je me rendis en Syrie et en Cilicie.
22 But I was still unknown even by sight to the Christian churches in Judea;
Cependant j'étais inconnu de visage aux églises de la Judée qui sont en Christ,
23 all that they had heard was – ‘The man who once persecuted us is now telling the good news of the faith of which he once tried to destroy.’
seulement elles entendaient dire: « Notre ancien persécuteur prêche maintenant la bonne nouvelle de la foi que jadis il dévastait; »
24 And they praised God for my sake.
et elles glorifiaient Dieu à mon sujet.
