< Esther 4 >

1 When Mordecai learned all that had been done, he tore his clothes and put on sackcloth and strewed ashes on his head, and went out into the city and raised a loud and bitter cry of lamentation.
Mordekaayi yeroo waan hojjetame sana hunda beeketti uffata isaa tarsaasee, wayyaa gaddaa uffatee, daaraa ofitti firfirsee, sagalee guddaadhaan wawwaachaa hiqqifatees booʼaa gara walakkaa magaalaatti gad baʼe.
2 He went as far as the king’s gate, but no one could enter the gate clothed with sackcloth.
Inni garuu sababii namni uffata gaddaa uffate tokko iyyuu akka ol seenu hin eeyyamamneef hamma karra mootichaa qofatti deeme.
3 In every province, wherever the king’s command and decree went, there was great mourning, fasting, weeping, and wailing among the Jews. Many of them sat in sackcloth and ashes.
Kutaalee biyyaa hunda iddoo ajajnii fi labsiin mootichaa gaʼetti gaddi guddaan, soomni booʼichii fi wawwaannaan Yihuudoota gidduu ture; baayʼeen isaanii uffata gaddaa uffatanii daaraa keessa ciisan.
4 When Esther’s maids and attendants told her about Mordecai’s behavior, she was greatly troubled. She sent garments for Mordecai to put on, so that he could take off his sack-cloth, but he would not accept them.
Yeroo dubartoonni tajaajiltoonni Asteerii fi xuʼaashiiwwan dhufanii waaʼee Mordekaayi isheetti himanitti Asteer akka malee gaddite. Isheenis qooda uffata gaddaa wayyaa inni uffatu ergiteef; inni garuu isaan harkaa fudhachuu dide.
5 So Esther called Hathach, one of the king’s eunuchs whom he had appointed to attend her, and ordered him to go to Mordecai to learn what it all meant and the reason for it.
Kana irratti Asteer xuʼaashiiwwan mootichaa keessaa Hataak isa ishee tajaajiluuf ramadame sana waamtee akka inni Mordekaayi bira deemee, rakkoo uumamee fi rakkoon sun maaliif akka uumame beekuuf ajajje.
6 So Hathach went out to Mordecai, to the city square in front of the king’s gate.
Kanaafuu Hataak gara oobdii magaalattii kan karra mootichaa duraa sanaatti Mordekaayiitti baʼe.
7 Mordecai told him all that had happened to him and the exact amount of money that Haman had promised to pay into the king’s treasury for the destruction of the Jews.
Mordekaayi waan isa irra gaʼe hunda, maallaqa Haamaan Yihuudoota balleessuudhaaf mankuusa qabeenya mootichaatti galchuuf waadaa gale isatti hima.
8 Also he gave him a copy of the decree to destroy them, that had been published in Susa, to show to Esther for her information. He also told her to go to the king and implore his mercy and to plead with him in behalf of her people.
Akkasumas Mordekaayi akka inni Asteeritti argisiisee isheedhaaf ibsuuf garagalcha barreeffama labsii kan isaan balleessuudhaaf Suusaa keessatti labsame sana isatti kenne; akka inni akka isheen mooticha bira dhaqxee itti boossee saba isheetiif araara kadhattu itti himuufis isa ajaje.
9 When Hathach came and told Esther what Mordecai had said,
Hataak deebiʼee waan Mordekaayi jedhe Asteeritti hime.
10 she instructed Hathach to go and say to Mordecai,
Asteer immoo akka inni akkana jedhee Mordekaayiitti himu isa ajajje;
11 “All the king’s courtiers and the people of the king’s provinces know that for every man or woman who goes to the king into the inner court without being called there is one penalty, death, unless the king holds out the golden sceptre signifying that they may live. It has been thirty days since I have been called to go in to the king.”
“Qondaaltonni mootichaa hundii fi sabni kutaalee biyyaa mootichaa akka mootichi yoo namni kam iyyuu dhiiras taʼu dubartiin utuu hin waamamin kutaa manaa isa gara keessaa ol seenee fuula mootichaa duratti dhiʼaate akka mootichi seera tokko qofa qabu jechuunis akka ajjeefamu ni beeku. Namni tokko yoo mootichi bokkuu mootummaa kan warqee sana diriirseef qofa ajjeefamuu oola. Ani mataan koo iyyuu guyyoota soddomman kana keessaa akkan fuula mootichaa duratti dhiʼaadhuuf waamamee hin beeku.”
12 When Mordecai was told what Esther had said,
Yommuu dubbiin Asteer Mordekaayiitti himametti,
13 he sent back this reply to Esther, “Don’t imagine that you alone of all the Jews will escape because you belong to the king’s household.
inni akkana jedhee deebii kana erge: “Ati sababii mana mootichaa keessa jirtuuf Yihuudoota hunda keessaa waan ati qofti baraaramtu hin seʼin.
14 If you persist in remaining silent at this time, relief and deliverance will come to the Jews from another quarter, but you and your family will perish. Who knows? Maybe you have been raised to the throne for a time like this!”
Yoo ati yeroo kanatti calʼifte gargaarsaa fi furamni Yihuudootaa iddoo biraatii ni dhufa; atii fi manni abbaa keetii garuu ni baddu. Maaltu beeka? Ati taayitaa mootummaa qabachuun kee yeroo akkanaatiif taʼaatii.”
15 Then Esther sent this message to Mordecai:
Kana irratti Asteer akkana jettee deebii kana Mordekaayiitti ergite:
16 “Go, gather all the Jews in Susa and fast for me. Don’t eat nor drink anything for three days and nights. My maids and I will fast as well. Then I will go in to the king, although it is contrary to the law, and if I die, I die.”
“Dhaqiitii Yihuudoota Suusaa keessa jiran hunda walitti qabiitii naa soomaa. Bultii sadii, guyyaa yookaan halkan illee homaa hin nyaatinaa yookaan homaa hin dhuginaa. Anii fi dubartoonni tajaajiltoonni koo iyyuu akkuma keessan ni soomna. Yoo akkas taʼe wanni kun seeraan ala taʼu illee ani gara mootichaa nan dhaqa. Ani yoon bades nan bada.”
17 Mordecai did everything Esther had directed.
Kanaafuu Mordekaayi deemee waan Asteer isa ajajje hunda hojii irra oolche.
