Acts 20
1 When the uproar had ceased, Paul sent for the disciples, and, with encouraging words, said goodbye to them, and started on his journey to Macedonia.
ലഹള അവസാനിച്ചപ്പോൾ പൗലോസ് ശിഷ്യന്മാരെ ആളയച്ചുവരുത്തി; അവരെ ധൈര്യപ്പെടുത്തിയശേഷം വിടവാങ്ങി മക്കദോന്യയിലേക്കു യാത്രതിരിച്ചു.
2 After going through those districts and speaking many encouraging words to the disciples, he went into Greece, where he stayed three months.
ദൈവജനത്തിനു പ്രോത്സാഹനം നൽകുന്ന വളരെ പ്രബോധനങ്ങൾ നൽകിക്കൊണ്ട് ആ സ്ഥലങ്ങളിലൂടെ സഞ്ചരിച്ച് അദ്ദേഹം ഒടുവിൽ ഗ്രീസിൽ എത്തിച്ചേർന്നു.
3 He was about to sail to Syria, when he learned that a plot had been laid against him by several of the Jewish leaders; so he decided to return by way of Macedonia.
അവിടെ മൂന്നുമാസം താമസിച്ചു. അവിടെനിന്നു സിറിയയിലേക്കു കപ്പൽകയറാൻ തുടങ്ങുന്ന അവസരത്തിൽ യെഹൂദർ അദ്ദേഹത്തിനെതിരായി ഗൂഢാലോചന നടത്തിയതുകൊണ്ട് മക്കദോന്യയിലൂടെ തിരികെപ്പോകാൻ അദ്ദേഹം തീരുമാനിച്ചു.
4 He was accompanied by Sopater the son of Pyrrhus, of Beroea, Aristarchus and Secundus from Thessalonica, Gaius of Derbe, and Timothy, as well as by Tychicus and Trophimus of Roman Asia.
ബെരോവയിലെ പുറൊസിന്റെ മകൻ സോപത്രോസും തെസ്സലോനിക്യരായ അരിസ്തർഹൊസും സെക്കുന്തോസും ദെർബെക്കാരനായ ഗായൊസും തിമോത്തിയോസും ഏഷ്യാപ്രവിശ്യക്കാരായ തിഹിക്കൊസും ത്രൊഫിമൊസും അദ്ദേഹത്തെ അനുഗമിച്ചു.
5 These people went to Troas and waited for us there;
അവർ ഞങ്ങൾക്കുമുമ്പായി യാത്രചെയ്തു ത്രോവാസ് തുറമുഖത്തെത്തി, അവിടെ ഞങ്ങൾക്കായി കാത്തിരുന്നു.
6 while we ourselves sailed from Philippi after the Passover, and joined them five days later at Troas, where we stayed for a week.
പുളിപ്പില്ലാത്ത അപ്പത്തിന്റെ പെരുന്നാൾ കഴിഞ്ഞാണ് ഞങ്ങൾ ഫിലിപ്പിയയിൽനിന്ന് യാത്രതിരിച്ചത്. അഞ്ചുദിവസത്തിനുശേഷം ഞങ്ങൾ ത്രോവാസിൽ കപ്പൽയാത്രചെയ്ത് അവരുടെ അടുക്കലെത്തി; ഏഴുദിവസം അവിടെ താമസിച്ചു.
7 On the first day of the week, when we had met for the breaking of bread, Paul, who was intending to leave the next day, began to address those who were present, and prolonged his address until midnight.
ആഴ്ചയുടെ ആദ്യദിവസം, അപ്പം നുറുക്കാൻ ഞങ്ങൾ ഒരുമിച്ചുകൂടി. പൗലോസ് ജനങ്ങളോടു സംസാരിച്ചു; പിറ്റേന്ന് യാത്രയാകാൻ ഉദ്ദേശിച്ചിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ട് അദ്ദേഹം അർധരാത്രിവരെയും പ്രസംഗം ദീർഘിപ്പിച്ചു.
8 There were a good many lamps in the upstairs room, where we had met;
ഞങ്ങൾ സമ്മേളിച്ച മുകൾനിലയിലെ മുറിയിൽ ധാരാളം വിളക്കുകൾ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
9 and a young man named Eutychus, sitting at the window, was gradually overcome with great drowsiness, as Paul continued his address. At last, quite overpowered by his drowsiness, he fell from the third story to the ground, and was picked up for dead.
യൂത്തിക്കൊസ് എന്നു പേരുള്ള യുവാവ് ഒരു ജനൽപ്പടിയിൽ ഇരുന്ന് ഗാഢനിദ്രയിലേക്കു വഴുതിവീണുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. പൗലോസ് തന്റെ പ്രസംഗം ദീർഘിപ്പിച്ചപ്പോൾ, അയാൾ ഗാഢനിദ്രയിലായി. മൂന്നാംനിലയിൽനിന്ന് താഴെവീണു; ജനം താഴെവന്ന് അയാളെ എടുത്തുയർത്തിനോക്കുമ്പോൾ അയാൾ മരിച്ചിരുന്നു.
10 But Paul went down, threw himself on him, and put his arms around him. “Do not be alarmed,” he said, “he is still alive.”
പൗലോസ് ഇറങ്ങിച്ചെന്ന് അയാളുടെമേൽ കിടന്ന് അയാളെ ആലിംഗനംചെയ്തു. “പരിഭ്രമിക്കേണ്ടാ, അയാൾക്കു ജീവനുണ്ട്!” എന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു.
11 Then he went upstairs; and, after breaking and partaking of the bread, he talked with them at great length until daybreak, and then left.
പിന്നീട്, അദ്ദേഹം വീണ്ടും മുകളിലത്തെ മുറിയിലേക്കുപോയി, അപ്പം നുറുക്കി ഭക്ഷിച്ചു, പുലരിയോളം സംഭാഷണം തുടർന്നുകൊണ്ടേയിരുന്നു. പിന്നീട് അദ്ദേഹം യാത്രയായി.
12 Meanwhile they had taken the boy away alive, and were greatly comforted.
ജനങ്ങൾ ആ യുവാവിനെ ജീവനുള്ളവനായി അവന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ കൊണ്ടുപോയി; അവർ അത്യന്തം ആശ്വസിച്ചു.
13 We started first, went on board ship, and sailed for Assos, intending to take Paul on board there. This was by his own arrangement, as he intended to go by land himself.
ഞങ്ങൾ കപ്പൽകയറി നേരത്തേതന്നെ അസ്സൊസ് തുറമുഖത്തേക്കു പുറപ്പെട്ടു. അവിടെയെത്തുമ്പോൾ പൗലോസിനെയും ഞങ്ങളുടെകൂടെ കപ്പലിൽ കയറ്റാൻ ഉദ്ദേശിച്ചിരുന്നു. പൗലോസ് അസ്സൊസിലേക്കു കാൽനടയായി യാത്രചെയ്തിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടാണ് ഈ ക്രമീകരണം ചെയ്തത്.
14 So, when he met us at Assos, we took him on board and went on to Mitylene.
അങ്ങനെ അദ്ദേഹം ഞങ്ങളെ അസ്സൊസിൽവെച്ചു കണ്ടുമുട്ടി. അപ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തെക്കൂടി കയറ്റിക്കൊണ്ടു ഞങ്ങൾ മിതുലേനയിലേക്കു യാത്രയായി.
15 The day after we had sailed from there, we arrived off Chios, touched at Samos the following day, and the next day reached Miletus;
പിറ്റേന്നു ഞങ്ങൾ അവിടെനിന്ന് കപ്പൽ നീക്കി ഖിയൊസ്ദ്വീപിന് അഭിമുഖമായി യാത്രതുടർന്നു. അതിനടുത്ത ദിവസം സാമോസ് ദ്വീപിലും പിറ്റേന്നാൾ മിലേത്തോസിലും എത്തിച്ചേർന്നു.
16 for Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus, so as to avoid spending much time in Roman Asia. He was making haste to reach Jerusalem, if possible, by the Festival at the close of the Harvest.
സാധ്യമെങ്കിൽ പെന്തക്കൊസ്തു ദിവസമാകുമ്പോഴേക്ക് ജെറുശലേമിൽ എത്താൻ പൗലോസ് തിടുക്കം കാട്ടി; അതുകൊണ്ട്, ഏഷ്യാപ്രവിശ്യയിൽ സമയം ചെലവഴിക്കുന്നത് ഒഴിവാക്കാൻ തീരുമാനിച്ചതിനാൽ അദ്ദേഹം എഫേസോസിൽ ഇറങ്ങാതെ യാത്ര മുന്നോട്ടു തുടർന്നു.
17 From Miletus, however, he sent to Ephesus and invited the church elders to meet him;
മിലേത്തോസിൽനിന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം എഫേസോസിലേക്ക് ആളയച്ചു സഭാമുഖ്യന്മാരെ വരുത്തി.
18 and, when they came, he said to them, “You know well the life that I always led among you from the very first day that I set foot in Roman Asia,
അവർ വന്നപ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹം അവരോട് ഇങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞു: “ഏഷ്യയിൽ എത്തിയ ദിവസംമുതൽ, നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ആയിരുന്ന കാലമെല്ലാം ഞാൻ എങ്ങനെയാണു ജീവിച്ചതെന്നു നിങ്ങൾക്കറിയാമല്ലോ!
19 serving the Lord, as I did, in all humility, amid the tears and trials which fell to my lot through the plots of some of the Jewish leaders.
യെഹൂദരുടെ ഗൂഢാലോചനകൾനിമിത്തം എനിക്കു തീവ്രമായ പരിശോധനകൾ ഉണ്ടായെങ്കിലും ഞാൻ വളരെ താഴ്മയോടും കണ്ണുനീരോടും കൂടെ കർത്താവിനെ സേവിച്ചു.
20 I never shrank from telling you anything that could be helpful to you, or from teaching you both in public and in private.
നിങ്ങൾക്കു പ്രയോജനമുള്ളത് ഒന്നും മറച്ചുവെക്കാതെ, പരസ്യമായും വീടുകളിൽവെച്ചും, ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളെ അറിയിക്കുകയും പഠിപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു എന്നു നിങ്ങൾക്കറിയാം.
21 I earnestly pointed both Jews and Greeks to the repentance that leads to God, and to faith in Jesus, our Lord.
മാനസാന്തരപ്പെട്ടു ദൈവത്തിലേക്കു തിരിഞ്ഞ് നമ്മുടെ കർത്താവായ യേശുവിൽ വിശ്വസിക്കണമെന്നും ഞാൻ യെഹൂദരോടും ഗ്രീക്കുകാരോടും പ്രസ്താവിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.
22 And now, under spiritual constraint, I am here on my way to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there,
“ഇപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ ആത്മാവിന്റെ അതിശക്തമായ പ്രേരണയാൽ ജെറുശലേമിലേക്കു പോകുന്നു. അവിടെ എനിക്ക് എന്താണു സംഭവിക്കുകയെന്നു ഞാൻ അറിയുന്നില്ല.
23 except that in town after town the Holy Spirit plainly declares to me that imprisonment and troubles await me.
ഒന്നുമാത്രം ഞാൻ അറിയുന്നു: കാരാഗൃഹവും കഷ്ടപ്പാടുകളുമാണ് ഓരോ പട്ടണത്തിലും എന്നെ കാത്തിരിക്കുന്നതെന്ന് പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവ് എനിക്കു മുന്നറിയിപ്പു തരുന്നു.
24 But I count my life of no value to myself, if only I may complete the course marked out for me, and the task that was allotted me by the Lord Jesus – which was to declare the good news of the love of God.
എങ്കിലും എന്റെ ജീവൻ അമൂല്യമെന്നു ഞാൻ കരുതുന്നില്ല; എന്റെ ഓട്ടവും ദൈവകൃപയുടെ സുവിശേഷത്തിനു സാക്ഷ്യംവഹിക്കാൻ കർത്താവായ യേശു എനിക്കു തന്ന ദൗത്യവും പൂർത്തീകരിക്കണം എന്നതുമാത്രമാണ് എന്റെ ലക്ഷ്യം.
25 And now, I tell you, I know that none of you will ever see my face again – you among whom I have gone about proclaiming the kingdom.
“നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയിൽ ദൈവരാജ്യം പ്രസംഗിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു സഞ്ചരിച്ചിരുന്ന എന്റെ മുഖം ഇനിമേൽ നിങ്ങളിലാരും കാണുകയില്ല എന്നെനിക്ക് ഇപ്പോൾ അറിയാം.
26 Therefore I declare to you this day, that my conscience is clear in regard to the fate of any of you,
അതുകൊണ്ട്, ഞാൻ ഇന്നു നിങ്ങളോടു പ്രസ്താവിക്കട്ടെ: നിങ്ങളിലാരുടെയും രക്തം സംബന്ധിച്ചു ഞാൻ കുറ്റക്കാരനല്ല.
27 for I have not shrunk from announcing the whole purpose of God regarding you.
ദൈവഹിതം പൂർണമായി, ഒട്ടും മറച്ചുവെക്കാതെതന്നെ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളെ അറിയിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.
28 Be watchful over yourselves, and over the whole flock, of which the Holy Spirit has placed you in charge, to shepherd the church of God, which he won for himself at the cost of his life.
നിങ്ങളെത്തന്നെയും പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു നിങ്ങളെ അധ്യക്ഷന്മാരാക്കിവെച്ചിട്ടുള്ള ആട്ടിൻപറ്റത്തെയും ഭദ്രമായി സംരക്ഷിക്കുക. സ്വന്തം രക്തത്താൽ അവിടന്നുതന്നെ വിലയ്ക്കു വാങ്ങിയ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സഭയ്ക്ക് അജപാലനം ചെയ്യുക.
29 I know that, after my departure, merciless wolves will get in among you, who will not spare the flock;
ഞാൻ പോയശേഷം ആട്ടിൻപറ്റത്തെ നശിപ്പിക്കാൻ മടിയില്ലാത്ത ക്രൂരരായ ചെന്നായ്ക്കൾ നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയിൽ കടന്നുകൂടുമെന്ന് എനിക്കറിയാം.
30 and from among yourselves, too, people will arise, who will teach perversions of truth, so as to draw away the disciples after them.
ക്രിസ്തുശിഷ്യരെ തങ്ങളുടെ പിന്നാലെ വശീകരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുപോകാനായി സത്യത്തെ വളച്ചു സംസാരിക്കുന്ന ചിലർ നിങ്ങളുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിൽനിന്നുതന്നെ എഴുന്നേൽക്കും.
31 Therefore, be on your guard, remembering how for three years, night and day, I never ceased, even with tears, to warn each one of you.
അതുകൊണ്ട് ജാഗരൂകരായിരിക്കുക. ഞാൻ മൂന്നുവർഷം അഹോരാത്രം നിങ്ങൾക്കോരോരുത്തർക്കും കണ്ണുനീരോടെ മുന്നറിയിപ്പു തന്നുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നത് ഓർക്കുക.
32 And now I commend you to the Lord and to the message of his love – a message which has the power to build up your characters, and to give you your place among all those who have become Christ’s people.
“ഇപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളെ ദൈവത്തിലും ദൈവകൃപയുടെ വചനത്തിലും ഭരമേൽപ്പിക്കുന്നു. ഈ വചനം നിങ്ങളെ ആത്മികമായി പണിതുയർത്തി, വിശുദ്ധീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ട എല്ലാവരോടുംകൂടെ ഓഹരി നൽകാൻ കഴിവുള്ളതാണല്ലോ.
33 I have never coveted anyone’s gold or silver or clothing.
നിങ്ങളിലാരുടെയും വെള്ളിയോ സ്വർണമോ വസ്ത്രമോ ഒന്നുംതന്നെ ഞാൻ മോഹിച്ചിട്ടില്ല.
34 You, yourselves, know that these hands of mine provided not only for my own wants, but for my companions also.
എന്റെയും എന്റെ കൂടെയുള്ളവരുടെയും ആവശ്യങ്ങൾ നിറവേറ്റാനുള്ള പണം എന്റെ ഈ കൈകളാൽ അധ്വാനിച്ചുണ്ടാക്കി എന്നു നിങ്ങൾക്കറിയാമല്ലോ!
35 I left nothing undone to show you that, laboring as I labored, you ought to help the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said himself – ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ള കഠിനാധ്വാനംകൊണ്ടു നാം അശരണരെ സഹായിക്കണമെന്നു ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്കു മാതൃക കാണിച്ചുതന്നിരിക്കുന്നു. ‘വാങ്ങുന്നതിനെക്കാൾ കൊടുക്കുന്നതിലാണ് അനുഗ്രഹം,’ എന്നുള്ള കർത്താവായ യേശുവിന്റെ വാക്കുകൾ ഓർക്കുക.”
36 When Paul had finished speaking, he knelt down and prayed with them all.
പൗലോസ് തന്റെ പ്രസംഗം അവസാനിപ്പിച്ചതിനുശേഷം അവരോടെല്ലാവരോടുംകൂടെ മുട്ടുകുത്തി പ്രാർഥിച്ചു.
37 All were in tears; and throwing their arms around Paul’s neck, they kissed him again and again,
എല്ലാവരും വളരെ കരഞ്ഞ് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ആലിംഗനംചെയ്ത് ചുംബിച്ചു.
38 grieving most of all over what he had said – that they would never see his face again. Then they escorted him to the ship.
“നിങ്ങൾ ഇനി എന്റെ മുഖം കാണുകയില്ല” എന്ന അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ വാക്കുകളാണ് അവർക്കേറ്റവുമധികം സങ്കടമുണ്ടാക്കിയത്. പിന്നെ അവർ കപ്പലിന്റെ അടുത്തുവരെ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ അനുയാത്രചെയ്തു.
