< 1 Thessalonians 5 >
1 But as to the times and the moments, there is no need, friends, for anyone to write to you.
Na rĩrĩ, ariũ na aarĩ a Ithe witũ, ũhoro wa mahinda na mĩthenya-rĩ, tũtirĩ na bata wa kũmwandĩkĩra,
2 You yourselves know well that the day of the Lord will come just as a thief comes in the night.
nĩgũkorwo nĩmũũĩ wega atĩ mũthenya wa Mwathani ũgooka o ta ũrĩa mũici okaga ũtukũ.
3 When people are saying ‘All is quiet and safe,’ it is then that, like birth pains on a pregnant woman, ruin comes suddenly upon them, and there will be no escape!
O rĩrĩa andũ maroiga atĩrĩ, “Kũrĩ thayũ na ũgitĩri,” hĩndĩ ĩyo nĩguo magaakorererwo nĩ mwanangĩko o rĩmwe, o ta ũrĩa mũtumia ũrĩ nda akoragĩrĩrwo nĩ ruo rwa kũheo mwana, nao matikahonoka.
4 You, however, friends, are not in darkness, that the daylight should take you by surprise as if you were thieves.
No inyuĩ ariũ na aarĩ a Ithe witũ, mũtirĩ nduma-inĩ atĩ nĩguo mũthenya ũcio ũmũkorerere ta mũici.
5 For you all are children of light and children of the day. We have nothing to do with night, or darkness.
Inyuĩ inyuothe mũrĩ ciana cia ũtheri na ciana cia mũthenya. Ithuĩ tũtirĩ a ũtukũ kana a nduma.
6 Therefore let us not sleep as others do. No, let us be watchful and self-controlled.
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio-rĩ, nĩtũtigei gũkoma ta acio angĩ, no nĩtũikarage twĩiguĩte na tũkerigagĩrĩria maũndũ.
7 It is at night that people sleep, and at night that drunkards get drunk.
Nĩgũkorwo arĩa makomaga-rĩ, makomaga ũtukũ, na arĩa marĩĩagwo nĩ njoohi-rĩ, marĩĩagwo ũtukũ.
8 But let us, who belong to the day, control ourselves, and put on faith and love as a breast plate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.
No kuona atĩ ithuĩ tũrĩ a mũthenya-rĩ, nĩtũtuĩke a kwĩgirĩrĩria maũndũ, twĩhumbĩte gako ga kũgitĩra gĩthũri karĩa ka wĩtĩkio na ka wendani, na tũgekĩra ũhoro wa kwĩrĩgĩrĩra ũhonokio taarĩ ngũbia ya kĩgera ya kũgitĩra mũtwe.
9 For God destined us, not for wrath, but to win salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us,
Nĩgũkorwo Ngai ndaatwamũrire nĩguo tũtuĩke a kũrakarĩrwo, no nĩtũtuĩke a kwamũkĩra ũhonokio thĩinĩ wa Mwathani witũ Jesũ Kristũ.
10 that, whether we are still watching or have fallen asleep, we may live with him.
We nĩatũkuĩrĩire nĩgeetha, twakorwo twĩiguĩte kana tũkomete-rĩ, tũgaatũũrania hamwe nake.
11 Therefore encourage one another, and try to build up one another’s characters, as indeed you are doing.
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio-rĩ, ũmanagĩrĩriai mũndũ na ũrĩa ũngĩ na mwĩkĩranage hinya o ta ũrĩa mũreka rĩu.
12 We beg you, friends, to value those who toil among you, and are your leaders in the Lord’s service, and give you counsel.
13 Hold them in the very greatest esteem and affection for the sake of their work. Live at peace with one another.
Mekagĩrĩrei mũno makĩria na mũmendage nĩ ũndũ wa wĩra ũcio marutaga. Tũũranagiai na thayũ mũndũ na ũrĩa ũngĩ.
14 We entreat you also, friends – warn the disorderly, comfort the faint-hearted, give a helping hand to the weak, and be patient with everyone.
Na ningĩ nĩtũkũmũringĩrĩria, inyuĩ ariũ na aarĩ a Ithe witũ, mũkaanagie andũ arĩa igũũta, na mũũmagĩrĩrie arĩa marĩ guoya, na mũteithagie arĩa matarĩ hinya, na mũkiragĩrĩrie andũ othe.
15 Take care that none of you ever pays back wrong for wrong, but always follow the kindest course with one another and with everyone.
Menyagĩrĩrai gũtikagĩe mũndũ ũkũrĩhĩria ũũru na ũũru, no hĩndĩ ciothe geragiai gũtugana inyuĩ-ene, na mũtugage andũ arĩa angĩ othe.
hooyagai mũtegũtigithĩria;
18 under all circumstances give thanks to God. For this is his will for you as made known in Christ Jesus.
cookagĩriai Ngai ngaatho maũndũ-inĩ mothe, nĩgũkorwo ũguo nĩguo Ngai endaga harĩ inyuĩ thĩinĩ wa Kristũ Jesũ.
19 Do not quench the Spirit;
Mũtikanahorie mwaki wa Roho;
20 do not make light of preaching.
mũtikanaire ũhoro ũrĩa ũrathagwo.
21 Bring everything to the test; cling to what is good;
Roranagiai maũndũ mothe. Rũmagiai maũndũ marĩa mega.
22 shun every form of evil.
Theemagai ũndũ o wothe mũũru.
23 May God himself, the giver of peace, make you altogether holy; and may your spirits, souls, and bodies be kept altogether faultless until the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Ngai we mwene, o we Ngai wa thayũ, aromũtheria o kũna. Namo maroho manyu, na ngoro cianyu, o na mĩĩrĩ yanyu, iroikaragio itarĩ na ũcuuke hĩndĩ ĩrĩa Mwathani witũ Jesũ Kristũ agaacooka.
24 He who calls you will not fail you; he will complete his work.
Ũrĩa ũmwĩtaga inyuĩ nĩ mwĩhokeku, na nĩakahingia ũhoro ũcio.
Ariũ na aarĩ a Ithe witũ, tũhooyagĩrei.
26 Greet all the Lord’s followers with a sacred kiss.
Geithiai ariũ na aarĩ a Ithe witũ othe na ngeithi theru cia kĩmumunyano.
27 I order you in the Lord’s name to have this letter read to all the brethren.
Nĩndamwatha ndĩ mbere ya Mwathani atĩ marũa maya mathomerwo ariũ na aarĩ a Ithe witũ othe.
28 May the blessing of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
Wega wa Mwathani witũ Jesũ Kristũ ũrogĩa na inyuĩ.
