< Zechariah 1 >
1 In the eighth month in the second year of Darius, this message of the Lord came to the prophet Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo:

2 The Lord was furious with your ancestors.

3 So tell the people this message of the Lord of hosts: ‘Return to me,’ says the Lord of hosts, ‘and I will return to you’ says the Lord of hosts.
Hateiteh, ransahu BAWIPA ni ahnimouh hanlah kâ a poe e teh, Kai koevah bout ban awh leih, Kai hai nangmouh koe ka ban han telah a ti.
4 ‘Do not be like your ancestors to whom the former prophets cried, “The Lord of hosts says to turn now from your evil ways, and from your evil deeds”. They did not heed nor listen to me,’ says the Lord.
Ayan e profetnaw ni nangmae kahawihoehe lam, kahawihoehe nuencangnaw atuvah roun awh, telah ransahu BAWIPA ni a dei e pathang nakunghai, na thai awh hoeh, kaie lawk hai na ngai awh hoeh. Na mintoenaw patetlah awm awh hanh, sak awh hanh telah BAWIPA ni a ti.
5 ‘Your ancestors, where are they? And the prophets, do they live forever?
Mintoe naw na maw ao awh. Profetnaw yungyoe a hring a maw.
6 But did not my words and my statutes with which I charged my servants the prophets overtake your ancestors? And they repented and said, “Just as the Lord of hosts planned to do to us, according to our ways, and according to our deeds, so he has dealt with us.”’
Ka san profetnaw koe lawk ka thui e kaie kâlawknaw teh, nangmae mintoenaw ni hai a kei awh nahoehmaw. Ahnimouh ni mae tawksak e patetlah ransahu BAWIPA ni lawk na ceng han telah a pouk awh e patetlah, lawk na ceng toe telah a dei awh nahoehmaw telah a ti.
7 In the twenty-fourth day of the eleventh month, which is the month Shebat, in the second year of Darius, this message of the Lord came to the prophet Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo:
Darius siangpahrang a bawinae kum pahni, Adar thapa yung hlaibun nah, Shebat thapa hnin 24 nah, Iddo capa, Berekhiah capa Zekhariah koe ka tho e BAWIPA e lawk teh,
8 I saw in the night a man on a red horse, among the myrtle trees that were in the valley-bottom. Behind him there were horses, red, sorrel, and white.
Karum vah ka hmu e vision teh marang paling kâcui e tami buet touh a kamnue teh ayawn kaawm e tuihan hmang um vah a kangdue. Ahnie a hnukkhu lah ka paling e marang, opaou e marang hoi marang pangaw ao.
9 Then said I, ‘My Lord, what are these?’ And the messenger who was talking with me said, ‘I will show you what they are.’
Kai niyah, Oe BAWIPA hotnaw hah apinaw maw telah ka pacei teh, kai hoi kâpan e kalvantami ni hotnaw teh apine tie na patue vai ati teh,
10 And the man who was standing among the myrtle trees answered, ‘They are those whom the Lord has sent to patrol the earth.’
Tuihan hmang um kangdout e tami ni ahnimanaw teh talai van dawk kâhei hanlah BAWIPA ni a patoun e naw doeh telah a ti.
11 And the riders answered the messenger of the Lord who was standing among the myrtle trees, ‘We have gone up and down through the world and behold, all the earth is still and at peace.’
Ahnimanaw nihaiyah kaimanaw teh talai van pueng koung katin awh toe. Talai pueng lungmawngcalah ao telah tuihan hmang um ka kangdout e BAWIPA e kalvantami koe atipouh.
12 Then the messenger of the Lord said, ‘Lord of hosts, how long will you have no pity for Jerusalem and the cities of Judah with which you have been angry for seventy years?’
Hathnukkhu, BAWIPA e kalvantami ni Oe, ransahu BAWIPA nang ni a kum 70 totouh na lungkhuek sin e Jerusalem kho hoi Judahnaw hah na tueng totouh maw pahren laipalah na o han telah a pacei navah,
13 And the Lord answered the messenger who was talking with me with kind and comforting words.
Kai hoi ka pato roi e kalvantami hanelah BAWIPA ni lawk kahawi, lungpahawinae lawk bout a dei pouh.
14 So the messenger who was talking with me said to me, ‘Proclaim now that the Lord of hosts says: I am deeply concerned for Jerusalem.
Kai hoi ka pato roi e kalvantami nihaiyah ransahu BAWIPA e kâlawk patuen a dei vaiteh a hramkhai hane teh, kai teh Jerusalem hoi Zion mon hanelah puenghoi lungpatawnae ka tawn.
15 But I am deeply angry with the arrogant, complacent nations. I was only a little angry with Israel but they made the suffering worse.
Lung awpawp kamawng lah kaawm e alouke miphunnaw koe ka lungphuen poung. Bangkongtetpawiteh, Jerusalem hah ka lung youn touh ka khuek sin navah, ahnimouh ni a ven awh teh a rektap awh.
16 Therefore, says the Lord, I am turning to show mercy to Jerusalem. My temple will be rebuilt in it, says the Lord of hosts, and a measuring line will be stretched over Jerusalem.

17 Proclaim again: Thus says the Lord of hosts: My cities will again overflow with prosperity and the Lord will again comfort Zion and choose Jerusalem.’
Hahoi, ransahu BAWIPA ni kâ a poe e bout hramkhai hane teh, kaie khopui teh avoivang lah akaw vaiteh ahawi han. BAWIPA ni hai Zion khocanaw a lung bout a pahawi han. Jerusalem khocanaw teh bout ka rawi vaiteh ka khetyawt han a ti.
18 Now I looked up and saw four horns.
Hathnukkhu, ka khet navah ki pali touh ka hmu.
19 I said to the messenger who was talking with me, ‘What are these?’ He answered, ‘These are the horns which scattered Judah, Israel and Jerusalem.’
Kai hoi ka pan roi e kalvantami hanelah, hote a kinaw teh bang ti ngainae maw telah ka pacei navah, hote a kinaw teh Judah ram, Isarel ram, Jerusalem khopuinaw pheng kampek sak e ki doeh telah a dei.
20 Then the Lord showed me four smiths.
BAWIPA ni hai lettama pali touh na patue.
21 I said, ‘What are these coming to do?’ He answered, ‘The horns scattered Judah, so that no one dared lift their head. But the smiths have come to terrify them, to crush the horns of the nations which lifted up their horn against the land of Judah to scatter its people.’
