< Psalms 138 >
1 Of David. I will thank you, O Lord, with all my heart: in the sight of the gods I will sing your praise,
Ipsi David. Confitebor tibi Domine in toto corde meo: quoniam audisti verba oris mei. In conspectu angelorum psallam tibi:
2 and prostrate before your holy temple, will praise your name for your constant love, for you have exulted your promise above all.
adorabo ad templum sanctum tuum, et confitebor nomini tuo. Super misericordia tua, et veritate tua: quoniam magnificasti super omne, nomen sanctum tuum.
3 When I called you, you answered; you gave me strength, you inspired me.
In quacumque die invocavero te, exaudi me: multiplicabis in anima mea virtutem.
4 All the kings of the earth shall praise you, O Lord, when they shall have heard the words you have uttered;
Confiteantur tibi Domine omnes reges terræ: quia audierunt omnia verba oris tui:
5 and they shall sing of the ways of the Lord, and tell of the Lord’s transcendent glory.
Et cantent in viis Domini: quoniam magna est gloria Domini.
6 For, high though the Lord is, he looks on the lowly, and strikes down the haughty from far away.
Quoniam excelsus Dominus, et humilia respicit: et alta a longe cognoscit.
7 Though my way be distressful, yet you preserve me: you lay your hand on my angry foes, and your right hand gives me victory.
Si ambulavero in medio tribulationis, vivificabis me: et super iram inimicorum meorum extendisti manum tuam, et salvum me fecit dextera tua.
8 The Lord will accomplish all that which concerns me. Your kindness, O Lord, endures forever. O do not abandon the work of your hands.
Dominus retribuet pro me: Domine misericordia tua in sæculum: opera manuum tuarum ne despicias.
