Mark 1
1 The beginning of the good news about Jesus Christ.
Jeesuksen Kristuksen, Jumalan Pojan, evankeliumin alku.
2 It is said in the prophet Isaiah – “I am sending my messenger ahead of you; he will prepare your way.
Niinkuin on kirjoitettuna profeetta Esaiaan kirjassa: "Katso, minä lähetän enkelini sinun edelläsi, ja hän on valmistava sinun tiesi".
3 The voice of one crying aloud in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the road for the Lord, make a straight path for him.’”
"Huutavan ääni kuuluu erämaassa: 'Valmistakaa Herralle tie, tehkää polut hänelle tasaisiksi'",
4 John the Baptizer appeared in the wilderness, proclaiming a baptism on repentance, for the forgiveness of sins.
niin Johannes Kastaja saarnasi erämaassa parannuksen kastetta syntien anteeksisaamiseksi.
5 The whole of Judea, as well as all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, went out to him; and they were baptized by him in the Jordan River, confessing their sins.
Ja koko Juudean maa ja kaikki jerusalemilaiset vaelsivat hänen tykönsä, ja hän kastoi heidät Jordanin virrassa, kun he tunnustivat syntinsä.
6 John wore clothes made of camels’ hair, with a leather strap round his waist, and lived on locusts and wild honey;
Ja Johanneksella oli puku kamelinkarvoista ja vyötäisillään nahkavyö; ja hän söi heinäsirkkoja ja metsähunajaa.
7 and he proclaimed – ‘After me is coming someone more powerful than I am, and I am not fit even to stoop down and unfasten his sandals.
Ja hän saarnasi sanoen: "Minun jälkeeni tulee minua väkevämpi, jonka kengänpaulaa minä en ole kelvollinen maahan kumartuneena päästämään.
8 I have baptized you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.’
Minä kastan teidät vedellä, mutta hän kastaa teidät Pyhällä Hengellä."
9 Now about that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan.
Ja niinä päivinä Jeesus tuli Galilean Nasaretista, ja Johannes kastoi hänet Jordanissa.
10 Just as he was coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens split open and the Spirit coming down to him like a dove,
Ja heti, vedestä noustessaan, hän näki taivasten aukeavan ja Hengen niinkuin kyyhkysen laskeutuvan häneen.
11 and from the heavens came a voice – ‘You are my dearly loved son; you bring me great joy.’
Ja taivaista tuli ääni: "Sinä olet minun rakas Poikani; sinuun minä olen mielistynyt".
12 Immediately afterwards the Spirit drove Jesus out into the wilderness;
Kohta sen jälkeen Henki ajoi hänet erämaahan.
13 and he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted by Satan, and among the wild beasts, while the angels helped him.
Ja hän oli erämaassa neljäkymmentä päivää, ja saatana kiusasi häntä, ja hän oli petojen seassa; ja enkelit tekivät hänelle palvelusta.
14 After John had been arrested, Jesus went to Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God –
Mutta sittenkuin Johannes oli pantu vankeuteen, meni Jeesus Galileaan ja saarnasi Jumalan evankeliumia
15 ‘The time has come, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent, and believe the good news.’
ja sanoi: "Aika on täyttynyt, ja Jumalan valtakunta on tullut lähelle; tehkää parannus ja uskokaa evankeliumi".
16 As Jesus was going along the shore of the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net in the sea, for they were fishermen.
Ja kulkiessaan Galilean järven rantaa hän näki Simonin ja Andreaan, Simonin veljen, heittävän verkkoa järveen; sillä he olivat kalastajia.
17 ‘Come and follow me,’ Jesus said, ‘and I will teach you to fish for people.’
Ja Jeesus sanoi heille: "Seuratkaa minua, niin minä teen teistä ihmisten kalastajia".
18 They left their nets at once, and followed him.
Kohta he jättivät verkot ja seurasivat häntä.
19 Going on a little further, he saw James, Zebedee’s son, and his brother John, who were in their boat mending the nets.
Ja käytyään siitä vähän eteenpäin hän näki Jaakobin, Sebedeuksen pojan, ja Johanneksen, hänen veljensä, heidätkin venheessä, laittamassa verkkojaan kuntoon.
20 Jesus called them at once, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the crew, and went after him.
Ja kohta hän kutsui heidät; ja he jättivät isänsä, Sebedeuksen, palkkalaisineen venheeseen ja lähtivät seuraamaan häntä.
21 They walked to Capernaum. On the next Sabbath Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach.
Ja he saapuivat Kapernaumiin; ja hän meni kohta sapattina synagoogaan ja opetti.
22 The people were amazed at his teaching, for he taught them like one who had authority, and not like the teachers of the Law.
Ja he olivat hämmästyksissään hänen opetuksestansa, sillä hän opetti heitä niinkuin se, jolla valta on, eikä niinkuin kirjanoppineet.
23 Now there was in their synagogue at the time a man under the power of a foul spirit, who called out,

24 ‘What do you want with us, Jesus the Nazarene? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are – the Holy One of God!’
sanoen: "Mitä sinulla on meidän kanssamme tekemistä, Jeesus Nasaretilainen? Oletko tullut meitä tuhoamaan? Minä tunnen sinut, kuka olet, sinä Jumalan Pyhä."
25 But Jesus rebuked the spirit, ‘Be silent! Come out from him.’
Niin Jeesus nuhteli sitä sanoen: "Vaikene ja lähde hänestä".
26 The foul spirit threw the man into a fit, and with a loud cry came out from him.
Ja saastainen henki kouristi häntä ja lähti hänestä huutaen suurella äänellä.
27 They were all so amazed that they kept asking each other, ‘What is this? What is this, a new kind of teaching? He gives his commands with authority even to the foul spirits, and they obey him!’
Ja he hämmästyivät kaikki, niin että kyselivät toisiltaan sanoen: "Mitä tämä on? Uusi, voimallinen oppi! Hän käskee saastaisia henkiäkin, ja ne tottelevat häntä."
28 His fame spread at once in all directions, through the whole region of Galilee.
Ja hänen maineensa levisi kohta koko ympäristöön, kaikkialle Galileaan.
29 As soon as they had left the synagogue, they went to the house of Simon and Andrew, along with James and John.
Ja tultuaan ulos synagoogasta he menivät kohta Simonin ja Andreaan taloon Jaakobin ja Johanneksen kanssa.
30 Now Simon’s mother-in-law was lying ill with a fever, and they at once told Jesus about her.
Ja Simonin anoppi makasi sairaana kuumeessa, ja kohta he puhuivat hänestä Jeesukselle.
31 Jesus went up to her and, grasping her hand, raised her up; the fever left her, and she began to take care of them.
Ja hän meni hänen luoksensa ja nosti hänet ylös, tarttuen hänen käteensä; ja kuume lähti hänestä, ja hän palveli heitä.
32 In the evening, after sunset, the people brought to Jesus all who were ill or possessed by demons;
Mutta illan tultua, kun aurinko oli laskenut, tuotiin hänen tykönsä kaikki sairaat ja riivatut,
33 and the whole city was gathered round the door.
ja koko kaupunki oli koolla oven edessä.
34 Jesus cured many who were ill with various diseases, and drove out many demons, and would not permit them to speak, because they knew him to be the Christ.
Ja hän paransi monta, jotka sairastivat moninaisia tauteja, ja paljon riivaajia hän ajoi ulos eikä sallinut riivaajien puhua, koska ne tunsivat hänet.
35 In the morning, long before daylight, Jesus got up and went out to a lonely spot, where he began to pray.
Ja varhain aamulla, kun vielä oli pimeä, hän nousi, lähti ulos ja meni autioon paikkaan; ja siellä hän rukoili.
36 But Simon and his companions went out searching for him;
Mutta Simon ja ne, jotka olivat hänen kanssaan, riensivät hänen jälkeensä;
37 and, when they found him, they exclaimed, ‘Everyone is looking for you!’
ja löydettyään hänet he sanoivat hänelle: "Kaikki etsivät sinua".
38 But Jesus said to them, ‘Let us go somewhere else, into the country towns nearby so that I can make my proclamation in them also; for that was why I came.’
Ja hän sanoi heille: "Menkäämme muualle, läheisiin kyliin, että minä sielläkin saarnaisin, sillä sitä varten minä olen tullut".
39 And he went about making his proclamation in their synagogues all through Galilee, and driving out the demons.
Ja hän meni ja saarnasi heidän synagoogissaan koko Galileassa ja ajoi ulos riivaajat.
40 One day a leper came to Jesus and, falling on his knees, begged him for help. ‘If only you are willing,’ he said, ‘you are able to make me clean.’
Ja hänen tykönsä tuli pitalinen mies, rukoili häntä, polvistui ja sanoi hänelle: "Jos tahdot, niin sinä voit minut puhdistaa".
41 Moved with compassion, Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying as he did so, ‘I am willing; become clean.’
Niin Jeesuksen kävi häntä sääliksi, ja ojentaen kätensä hän kosketti häntä ja sanoi hänelle: "Minä tahdon; puhdistu".
42 Instantly the leprosy left the man, and he became clean;
Ja kohta pitali lähti hänestä, ja hän puhdistui.
43 and then Jesus, after sternly warning him, immediately sent him away,
Ja varoittaen häntä ankarasti hän laski hänet heti menemään
44 and said to him, ‘Be careful not to say anything to anyone; but go and show yourself to the priest, and make the offerings for your cleansing directed by Moses, as evidence of your cure.’
ja sanoi hänelle: "Katso, ettet puhu tästä kenellekään mitään, vaan mene ja näytä itsesi papille ja uhraa puhdistumisestasi se, minkä Mooses on säätänyt, todistukseksi heille".
45 The man, however, went away, and began to speak about it publicly, and to spread the story so widely, that Jesus could no longer go openly into a town, but stayed outside in lonely places; and people came to him from every direction.
Mutta mentyään pois tämä rupesi laajalti julistamaan ja asiasta tietoa levittämään, niin ettei Jeesus enää saattanut julkisesti mennä kaupunkeihin, vaan oleskeli niiden ulkopuolella autioissa paikoissa; ja kaikkialta tultiin hänen tykönsä.
