John 15
1 ‘I am the true vine, and my Father is the vine-grower.
Eu sou a videira verdadeira, e meu Pai é o lavrador.
2 Any unfruitful branch in me he takes away, and he cleanses every fruitful branch, so that it may bear more fruit.
Toda a vara em mim, que não dá fruto, a tira; e alimpa toda o que dá fruto, para que dê mais fruto.
3 You are already clean because of the message that I have given you.
Vós já estais limpos, pela palavra que vos tenho falado.
4 Remain united to me, and I will remain united to you. As a branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it remains united to the vine; no more can you, unless you remain united to me.
Estai em mim, e eu em vós: como a vara de si mesma não pode dar fruto, se não estiver na videira, assim nem vós, se não estiverdes em mim.
5 I am the vine, you are the branches. If you remain united to me, while I remain united to you – you bear fruit plentifully; for you can do nothing apart from me.
Eu sou a videira, vós as varas: quem está em mim, e eu nele, esse dá muito fruto; porque sem mim nada podeis fazer.
6 If anyone does not remain united to me, they are thrown away, as a branch would be, and withers up. Such branches are collected and thrown into the fire, and are burnt.
Se alguém não estiver em mim, será lançado fora, como a vara, e secará; e os colhem, e os lançam no fogo, e ardem
7 If you remain united to me, and my teaching remains in your hearts, ask whatever you wish, and it will be yours.
Se vós estiverdes em mim, e as minhas palavras estiverem em vós, pedireis tudo o que quizerdes, e vos será feito.
8 It is by your bearing fruit plentifully, and so showing yourselves my disciples, that my Father is honoured.
Nisto é glorificado meu Pai, que deis muito fruto; e assim sereis meus discípulos.
9 As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you; remain in my love.
Como o Pai me amou, também eu vos amei a vós; permanecei neste meu amor.
10 If you lay my commands to heart, you will remain in my love; just as I have laid the Father’s commands to heart and remain in his love.
Se guardardes os meus mandamentos, permanecereis no meu amor; como eu tenho guardado os mandamentos de meu Pai, e permaneço no seu amor.
11 I have told you all this so that my own joy may be yours, and that your joy may be complete.
Tenho-vos dito estas coisas, para que o meu gozo permaneça em vós, e o vosso gozo seja cumprido.
12 This is my command – love one another, as I have loved you.
O meu mandamento é este: Que vos ameis uns aos outros, assim como eu vos amei.
13 No one can give greater proof of love than by laying down their life for their friends.
Ninguém tem maior amor do que este: de dar alguém a sua vida pelos seus amigos.
14 And you are my friends, if you do what I command you.
Vós sereis meus amigos, se fizerdes o que eu vos mando.
15 I no longer call you “servants,” because a servant does not know what their master is doing; but I have given you the name of “friends,” because I made known to you everything that I learned from my Father.
Já vos não chamarei servos, porque o servo não sabe o que faz o seu senhor, mas tenho-vos chamado amigos, porque tudo quanto ouvi de meu Pai vos tenho feito conhecer.
16 It wasn’t you who chose me, but I who chose you, and I appointed you to go and bear fruit – fruit that should remain, so that the Father might grant you whatever you ask in my name.
Não me escolhestes vós a mim, porém eu vos escolhi a vós, e vos constitui, para que vades e deis fruto, e o vosso fruto permaneça; para que tudo quanto em meu nome pedirdes ao Pai ele vo-lo conceda.
17 I am giving you these commands that you may love one another.
Isto vos mando: que vos ameis uns aos outros.
18 If the world hates you, you know that it has first hated me.
Se o mundo vos aborrece, sabei que, primeiro do que a vós, me aborreceu a mim.
19 If you belonged to the world, the world would love its own. Because you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world – that is why the world hates you.
Se vós fosseis do mundo, o mundo amaria o que era seu, mas, porque não sois do mundo, antes eu vos escolhi do mundo, por isso o mundo vos aborrece.
20 Remember what I said to you – “A servant is not greater than their master.” If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have laid my message to heart, they will lay yours to heart also.
Lembrai-vos da palavra que vos disse: Não é o servo maior do que o seu senhor. Se a mim me perseguiram, também vos perseguirão a vós; se guardaram a minha palavra, também guardarão a vossa.
21 But they will do all this to you, because you believe in my name, for they do not know him who sent me.
Mas tudo isto vos farão por causa do meu nome; porque não conhecem aquele que me enviou.
22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have had no sin to answer for; but as it is, they have no excuse for their sin.
Se eu não viera, nem lhes houvera falado, não teriam pecado, mas agora não tem desculpa do seu pecado.
23 The person who hates me hates my Father also.
Aquele que me aborrece aborrece também a meu Pai.
24 If I had not done among them such work as no one else ever did, they would have had no sin to answer for; but, as it is, they have both seen and hated both me and my Father.
Se eu entre eles não fizesse obras, quais nenhum outro tem feito, não teriam pecado; mas agora, viram-nas e me aborreceram a mim e a meu Pai.
25 And so is fulfilled what is said in their Law – “They hated me without cause.”
Mas isto é para que se cumpra a palavra que está escrita na sua lei: Aborreceram-me sem causa.
26 But, when the helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father – the Spirit of truth, who comes from the Father – will bear testimony to me;
Mas, quando vier o Consolador, que eu da parte do Pai vos hei de enviar, a saber, aquele espírito de verdade, que procede do Pai, ele testificará de mim.
27 yes, and you also are to bear testimony, because you have been with me from the first.
E vós também testificareis, pois estivestes comigo desde o princípio.
