1 Corinthians 6
1 Can it be that, when one of you has a dispute with another, they dare to have their case tried before the heathen, instead of before Christ’s people?
Quando algum de vocês tem uma queixa contra o seu irmão, como ousa apresentar essa causa a um juiz pagão? Em vez disso, vocês deveriam levar isso diante de outros irmãos.
2 Don’t you know that Christ’s people will try the world? And if the world is to be tried by you, are you unfit to try the most trivial cases?
Vocês não sabem que os irmãos na fé em Cristo irão julgar o mundo? Se vocês irão julgar o mundo, então, não são capazes de julgar casos mais simples?
3 Don’t you know that we are to try angels – to say nothing of the affairs of this life?
Será que vocês não sabem que iremos julgar até mesmo os anjos? Então, devemos julgar muito mais o que se relaciona a esta vida!
4 Why, then, if you have cases relating to the affairs of this life, do you set to try them those who carry no weight with the church? To your shame I ask it.
Assim, se vocês precisam julgar coisas relacionadas a esta vida, por que procuram juízes que não são respeitados pela igreja?
5 Can it be that there is not one among you wise enough to decide between two of their fellow followers?
Ao dizer isso, eu estou tentando envergonhá-los. O quê? Não há, entre vocês, uma pessoa sábia, que possa resolver uma queixa que tenha surgido?
6 Must a follower sue a fellow follower? In front of unbelievers?
Mas, em vez disso, um irmão leva ao tribunal outro irmão e apresenta a queixa para que juízes que não creem em Deus resolvam a questão.
7 To begin with, it is undoubtedly a loss to you to have lawsuits with one another. Why not rather let yourselves be wronged? Why not rather let yourselves be cheated?
O simples fato de haver disputas de uns contra os outros, a serem resolvidas diante de juízes, já pode ser considerado como um completo desastre. Não seria melhor aceitar a injustiça? Por que não ficar com o prejuízo?
8 Instead of this, you wrong and cheat others yourselves – yes, even other followers!
Mas, vocês preferem causar injustiça e enganar até mesmo os seus próprios irmãos!
9 Don’t you know that wrongdoers will have no share in God’s kingdom? Do not be deceived. No one who is immoral, or an idolater, or an adulterer, or licentious, or a sexual pervert,
Vocês não sabem que aqueles que são injustos não herdarão o Reino de Deus? Não se enganem! Pessoas imorais, os que adoram ídolos, que cometem adultério, pervertidos sexuais, homossexuais,
10 or a thief, or covetous, or a drunkard, or abusive, or grasping, will have any share in God’s kingdom.
ladrões, gananciosos, bêbados, abusadores ou trapaceiros não herdarão o Reino de Deus.
11 Such some of you used to be; but you washed yourselves clean. You became Christ’s people! You were pronounced righteous through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, and through the Spirit of our God!
Alguns de vocês já foram assim, mas, agora, foram purificados e santificados. Vocês se tornaram justos em nome do Senhor Jesus Cristo e do Espírito do nosso Deus.
12 Everything is allowable for me! Yes, but everything is not profitable. Everything is allowable for me! Yes, but for my part, I will not let myself be enslaved by anything.
As pessoas dizem: “Eu sou livre para fazer tudo o que eu quiser.” Mas, nem tudo é apropriado! “Eu sou livre para fazer tudo o que eu quiser.” Mas eu não deixarei que nada me controle! As pessoas dizem:
13 Food exists for the stomach, and the stomach for food; but God will put an end to both the one and the other. The body, however, exists, not for immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body;
“O alimento existe para o estômago, e o estômago existe para o alimento.” Mas, Deus irá destruir tanto o alimento quanto o estômago. O corpo não é feito para ser usado para atos imorais e, sim, para o Senhor, e o Senhor para o corpo.
14 and, as God has raised the Lord, so he will raise us up also by the exercise of his power.
Por seu poder, Deus, que ressuscitou o Senhor, nos ressuscitará da mesma forma.
15 Don’t you know that your bodies are Christ’s members? Am I, then, to take the members that belong to the Christ and make them the members of a prostitute? Heaven forbid!
Vocês não sabem que os seus corpos são parte do corpo de Cristo? Deveria eu pegar uma parte do corpo de Cristo e uni-la ao corpo de uma prostituta? É claro que não!
16 Or don’t you know that a man who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body (for “the two,” it is said, “will become one”);
Vocês não percebem que qualquer pessoa que tenha relações com uma prostituta se torna “um único corpo” com ela? Lembrem-se do que as Sagradas Escrituras dizem: “Os dois se tornarão um único corpo.”
17 while a man who is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit?
Mas, quem se une ao Senhor se torna, espiritualmente, uma única pessoa com ele.
18 Shun all immorality. Every other sin that people commit is something outside the body; but an immoral person sins against their own body.
Afastem-se da imoralidade sexual! Todos os outros pecados que as pessoas cometem ocorrem fora do corpo, mas a imoralidade sexual é um pecado contra o próprio corpo.
19 Again, don’t you know that your body is a shrine of the Holy Spirit that is within you – the Spirit which you have from God?
Vocês não sabem que o seu corpo é o templo do Espírito Santo, que vive em vocês, o qual receberam de Deus?
20 Moreover, you are not your own masters; you were bought, and the price was paid. Therefore, honour God in your bodies.
Vocês não pertencem a si mesmos; vocês foram comprados por um alto valor! Então, usem o seu corpo para glorificar a Deus!
