1 Corinthians 11
1 Imitate me, as I myself imitate Christ.
Vocês devem fazer como eu, exatamente, como eu faço ao imitar Cristo.
2 I praise you, indeed, because you never forget me, and are keeping my injunctions in mind, exactly as I laid them on you.
Eu sou grato por vocês sempre se lembrarem de mim e por seguirem os ensinamentos exatamente como eu os transmiti a vocês.
3 But I am anxious that you should understand that the Christ is the head of every man, that man is the head of woman, and that God is the head of the Christ.
Quero que vocês entendam que Cristo é a autoridade sobre cada homem, e o homem é a autoridade sobre a mulher e, finalmente, que Deus é a autoridade sobre Cristo.
4 Any man who keeps his head covered, when praying or preaching in public, dishonours him who is his head;
Um homem perde a sua autoridade se ora ou faz profecias com a cabeça coberta.
5 while any woman, who prays or preaches in public bare-headed, dishonours him who is her head; for that is to make herself like one of the shameless women who shave their heads.
Já uma mulher perde a sua autoridade quando ela ora ou faz profecias com a cabeça descoberta. Pois é exatamente como se ela tivesse rapado a cabeça.
6 Indeed, if a woman does not keep her head covered, she may as well cut her hair short. But, since to cut her hair short, or shave it off, marks her as one of the shameless women, she should keep her head covered.
Se a cabeça de uma mulher não está coberta, então, sua cabeça deveria ser rapada. Se é vergonhoso para uma mulher ter o cabelo cortado ou rapado, então, ela deveria sempre cobrir a sua cabeça.
7 A man ought not to have his head covered, for he has been from the beginning the likeness of God and the reflection of his glory, but woman is the reflection of man’s glory.
Um homem, em contrapartida, não deveria cobrir a cabeça, pois ele é a imagem e a glória de Deus, enquanto a mulher é a glória do homem.
8 For it was not man who was taken from woman, but woman who was taken from man.
O homem não veio da mulher, mas a mulher veio do homem.
9 Besides, man was not created for the sake of woman, but woman for the sake of man.
E o homem não foi criado por causa da mulher e, sim, a mulher foi criada por causa do homem.
10 And, therefore, a woman ought to wear on her head a symbol of her subjection, because of the presence of the angels.
É por isso que a mulher deveria ter esse sinal de autoridade em sua cabeça, por respeito aos anjos vigilantes.
11 Still, when in union with the Lord, woman is not independent of man, or man of woman;
Mesmo assim, a partir da visão do Senhor, a mulher é tão fundamental quanto o homem, e o homem é tão fundamental quanto a mulher.
12 for just as woman came from man, so man comes by means of woman; and all things come from God.
Como a mulher veio do homem, da mesma forma o homem vem da mulher. Porém, o principal é que tudo vem de Deus.
13 Judge for yourselves. Is it fitting that a woman should pray to God in public with her head uncovered?
Julguem por si mesmos: é adequado que uma mulher ore a Deus com a cabeça descoberta?
14 Does not nature herself teach us that, while for a man to wear his hair long is degrading to him,
A própria natureza não mostra que um homem com cabelo comprido envergonha a si mesmo?
15 a woman’s long hair is her glory? Her hair has been given her to serve as a covering.
No entanto, uma mulher com o cabelo comprido traz glória para si mesma, pois o cabelo lhe é dado como uma proteção.
16 If, however, anyone still thinks it right to contest the point – well, we have no such custom, nor have the churches of God.
Mas, se alguém quiser discutir a respeito disso, nós e nem qualquer das outras igrejas de Deus temos outro costume além desse.
17 In giving directions on the next subject, I cannot praise you; because your meetings do more harm than good.
Agora, eu não posso elogiar vocês ao lhes dar as orientações a seguir, pois quando vocês se reúnem, isso resulta em mais mal do que em bem!
18 To begin with, I am told that when you meet together as a church there are divisions among you. In part I believe this,
Primeiro, eu ouço que nas reuniões da igreja vocês se dividem em grupos diferentes, e eu creio que isso seja verdade.
19 indeed, there must be parties among you, so that the people of real worth become known.
É claro que essas divisões entre vocês devem acontecer, para mostrar quem são os que estão certos.
20 When you meet together, as I understand, it is not possible to eat the Lord’s Supper;
Quando vocês se reúnem, não estão comemorando verdadeiramente a Ceia do Senhor.
21 for, as you eat, each of you tries to secure his own supper first, with the result that one has too little to eat, and another has too much to drink!
Alguns querem comer primeiro, antes de todos, deixando os outros com fome. Outros ainda ficam bêbados.
22 Have you no houses in which you can eat and drink? Or are you trying to show your contempt for the church of God, and to humiliate the poor? What can I say to you? Should I praise you? In this matter I cannot praise you.
Vocês não têm as suas próprias casas onde podem comer e beber? Ou desprezam a igreja de Deus e humilham aqueles que são pobres? O que eu devo dizer a vocês? Que vocês estão agindo bem? Eu não tenho nada de bom para dizer a respeito de vocês ao agirem assim!
23 For I myself received from the Lord the account which I have in turn given to you – how the Lord Jesus, on the very night of his betrayal, took some bread,
Pois eu recebi do Senhor tudo o que eu passei para vocês: que o Senhor Jesus, na noite em que foi traído, pegou o pão.
24 and, after saying the thanksgiving, broke it and said ‘This is my own body given on your behalf. Do this in memory of me.’
Depois de agradecer a Deus, ele partiu o pão e disse: “Isto é o meu corpo, que eu dou a vocês. Lembrem-se de mim ao fazerem isso.”
25 And in the same way with the cup, after supper, saying ‘This cup is the new covenant made by my blood. Do this, whenever you drink it, in memory of me.’
Da mesma maneira, depois de haver ceado, ele pegou o cálice e disse: “Este cálice é o novo acordo, selado com o meu sangue. Lembrem-se de mim ao beberem desse cálice.
26 For whenever you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death – until he comes.
Pois toda vez que vocês comerem esse pão e beberem desse cálice estarão anunciando a morte do Senhor até que ele retorne.”
27 Therefore, whoever eats the bread, or drinks the Lord’s cup, in an irreverent spirit, will have to answer for an offence against the Lord’s body and blood.
Assim, qualquer um que comer o pão ou beber do cálice do Senhor, de uma forma que ofenda a sua honra, será culpado por fazer o que é errado contra o corpo e o sangue do Senhor.
28 Let everyone look into their own heart, and only then eat of the bread and drink from the cup.
Deixem que cada pessoa analise a si mesma e, depois, deixem que coma o pão e beba do cálice.
29 For the person who eats and drinks brings a judgment on themselves by their eating and drinking, when they do not discern the body.
Caso aqueles que comem e bebem não reconheçam a sua relação com o corpo do Senhor, eles mesmos se condenam.
30 That is why so many among you are weak and ill, and why some are sleeping.
É por isso que muitos de vocês são fracos e doentes, e alguns até mesmo morrem.
31 But, if we judged ourselves rightly, we should not be judged.
No entanto, se nós realmente tivéssemos nos analisado, não seríamos condenados dessa maneira.
32 Yet, in being judged by the Lord, we are undergoing discipline, so that we may not have judgment passed on us with the rest of the world.
Mas, quando somos condenados, estamos sendo disciplinados pelo Senhor, para que não sejamos condenados junto com o mundo.
33 Therefore, my friends, when you meet together to eat the Supper, wait for one another.
Então, meus queridos irmãos e irmãs, quando se reunirem para comer a Ceia do Senhor, esperem uns pelos outros.
34 If anyone is hungry, they should eat at home, so that your meetings may not bring a judgment on you. The other details I will settle when I come.
Se alguém estiver com fome, então, coma em casa, para que, quando se reunirem, vocês não se condenem. Eu os orientarei mais quando for visitá-los.
