< Psalms 86 >

1 Hear, Adonai, and answer me, for I am poor and needy.
Oratio ipsi David. Inclina, Domine, aurem tuam et exaudi me, quoniam inops et pauper sum ego.
2 Preserve my soul, for I am godly. You, my God, save your servant who trusts in you.
Custodi animam meam, quoniam sanctus sum; salvum fac servum tuum, Deus meus, sperantem in te.
3 Show pity on me, Lord, for I call to you all day long.
Miserere mei, Domine, quoniam ad te clamavi tota die;
4 Bring joy to the soul of your servant, for to you, Lord, do I lift up my soul.
lætifica animam servi tui, quoniam ad te, Domine, animam meam levavi.
5 For you, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive; abundant in chesed ·loving-kindness· to all those who call on you.
Quoniam tu, Domine, suavis et mitis, et multæ misericordiæ omnibus invocantibus te.
6 Hear, Adonai, my prayer. Listen to the voice of my petitions.
Auribus percipe, Domine, orationem meam, et intende voci deprecationis meæ.
7 In the day of my trouble I will call on you, for you will answer me.
In die tribulationis meæ clamavi ad te, quia exaudisti me.
8 There is no one like you among the deities, Lord, nor any deeds like your deeds.
Non est similis tui in diis, Domine, et non est secundum opera tua.
9 All nations you have made will come and hawa ·bow low, prostrate· to worship before you, Lord. They shall glorify your name.
Omnes gentes quascumque fecisti venient, et adorabunt coram te, Domine, et glorificabunt nomen tuum.
10 For you are great, and do wondrous things. You are God alone.
Quoniam magnus es tu, et faciens mirabilia; tu es Deus solus.
11 Teach me your way, Adonai. I will walk in your truth. Make my heart undivided to fear your name.
Deduc me, Domine, in via tua, et ingrediar in veritate tua; lætetur cor meum, ut timeat nomen tuum.
12 I will yadah ·extend hands in thankful praise· to you, Lord my God, with my whole heart. I will glorify your name forever more.
Confitebor tibi, Domine Deus meus, in toto corde meo, et glorificabo nomen tuum in æternum:
13 For your chesed ·loving-kindness· is great toward me. You have delivered my soul from the lowest Sheol ·Place of the dead·. (Sheol h7585)
quia misericordia tua magna est super me, et eruisti animam meam ex inferno inferiori. (Sheol h7585)
14 God, the proud have risen up against me. A company of violent men have sought after my soul, and they don’t hold regard for you before them.
Deus, iniqui insurrexerunt super me, et synagoga potentium quæsierunt animam meam: et non proposuerunt te in conspectu suo.
15 But you, Lord, are a merciful and gracious God, slow to anger, and abundant in chesed ·loving-kindness· and truth.
Et tu, Domine Deus, miserator et misericors; patiens, et multæ misericordiæ, et verax.
16 Turn to me, and have favor on me! Give your strength to your servant. Save the son of your servant.
Respice in me, et miserere mei; da imperium tuum puero tuo, et salvum fac filium ancillæ tuæ.
17 Show me a sign of your goodness, that those who hate me may see it, and be shamed, because you, Adonai, have helped me, and comforted me.
Fac mecum signum in bonum, ut videant qui oderunt me, et confundantur: quoniam tu, Domine, adjuvisti me, et consolatus es me.
