< Psalms 80 >
1 Hear us, Ro'i [Shepherd Provider] of Israel [God prevails], you who lead Joseph [May he add] like a flock, you who sit above the cherubim, shine out.
Unto the end. For those who will be changed. The testimony of Asaph. A Psalm. The One who reigns over Israel: Be attentive. For you lead Joseph like a sheep. The One who sits upon the cherubim: Shine forth
2 Before Ephraim [Fruit] and Benjamin [Son of right hand, Son of south] and Manasseh [Causing to forget], stir up your might! Come to bring yishu'ah ·salvation· for us!
in the presence of Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh. Awaken your power and draw near, so as to accomplish our salvation.
3 Turn us again, God. Cause your face to shine, and we will be saved.
Convert us, O God. And reveal your face, and we will be saved.
4 Adonai Elohei Tzva'ot [Yahweh God Commander of heaven’s armies], How long will you be angry against the prayer of your people?
O Lord, God of hosts, how long will you be angry over the prayer of your servant?
5 You have fed them with the bread of tears, and given them tears to drink in large measure.
How long will you feed us the bread of tears, and give us to drink a full measure of tears?
6 You make us a source of contention to our neighbors. Our enemies laugh among themselves.
You have set us as a contradiction to our neighbors. And our enemies have ridiculed us.
7 Turn us again, Elohim Tzva'ot [God Commander of heaven’s armies]. Cause your face to shine, and we will be saved.
O God of hosts, convert us. And reveal your face, and we will be saved.
8 You brought a vine out of Egypt [Abode of slavery]. You divorced and drove out the nations, and planted it.
You have transferred a vineyard from Egypt. You have cast out the Gentiles, and planted it.
9 You cleared the ground for it. It took deep root, and filled the land.
You were the leader of the journey in its sight. You planted its roots, and it filled the earth.
10 The mountains were covered with its shadow. Its boughs were like God’s cedars.
Its shadow covered the hills, and its branches covered the cedars of God.
11 It sent out its branches to the sea, Its shoots to the River.
It extended its new branches even to the sea, and its new seedlings even to the river.
12 Why have you broken down its walls, so that all those who pass by the way pluck it?
So then, why have you destroyed its walls, so that all those who pass by the way gather its grapes?
13 The boar out of the wood ravages it. The wild animals of the field feed on it.
The wild boar of the forest has trampled it, and a single wild beast has laid waste to it.
14 Turn again, we beg you, Elohim Tzva'ot [God Commander of heaven’s armies]. Look down from heaven, and see, and visit this vine,
Turn back, O God of hosts. Look down from heaven, and see, and visit this vineyard;
15 the stock which your right hand planted, the branch that you made strong for yourself.
and complete what your right hand has planted, and look upon the son of man, whom you have confirmed for yourself.
16 It’s burned with fire. It’s cut down. They perish at your rebuke.
Whatever has been set on fire and dug under will perish at the rebuke of your countenance.
17 Let your hand be on the man of your right hand, on the son of man whom you made strong for yourself.
Let your hand be over the man on your right, and over the son of man, whom you have confirmed for yourself.
18 So we will not turn away from you. Revive us, and we will call on your name.
For we do not depart from you, and you will revive us. And we will invoke your name.
19 Turn us again, Adonai Elohei Tzva'ot [Yahweh God Commander of heaven’s armies]. Cause your face to shine, and we will be saved.
O Lord, God of hosts, convert us. And reveal your face, and we will be saved.
