< Psalms 54 >
1 Save me, God, by your name. Vindicate me in your might.
“To the chief musician on Neginoth, a Maskil of David, When the Ziphim came and said to Saul, Behold, David is hiding himself with us.” O God, by thy name save me, and by thy strength grant me justice.
2 Sh'ma ·Hear obey· my prayer, God. Listen to the words of my mouth.
O God, hear my prayer; give ear to the words of my mouth.
3 For strangers have risen up against me. Violent men have sought after my soul. They haven’t set God before them. (Selah) ·contemplation with musical interlude·.
For strangers [to goodness] are risen up against me, and powerful oppressors seek after my soul: they have not set God before them. (Selah)
4 Behold, God is my helper. 'Adonay [Lord] is the one who sustains my soul.
Behold, God is a helper unto me: the Lord is among those that uphold my soul.
5 He will repay the evil to my enemies. Destroy them in your truth.
He will cause the evil to return upon those that regard me with envy: in thy truth cut them off.
6 With a free will offering, I will sacrifice to you. I will yadah ·extend hands in thankful praise· to your name, Adonai, for it is good.
I will liberally sacrifice unto thee: I will give thanks unto thy name, O Lord; for it is good.
7 For he has delivered me out of all trouble. My eye has seen triumph over my enemies.
For out of all distress hath he delivered me: and my eye hath seen [its desire] on my enemies.
