< Psalms 5 >

1 Give ear to my words, Adonai. Consider my (meditation)
Psalmus David, pro ea, quae hereditatem accepit. Verba mea auribus percipe Domine, intellige clamorem meum.
2 Listen to the voice of my cry, my King and my God; for to you do I pray.
Intende voci orationis meae, rex meus et Deus meus.
3 Adonai, in the morning you shall sh'ma ·hear obey· my voice. In the morning I will lay my requests before you, and will watch expectantly.
Quoniam ad te orabo: Domine mane exaudies vocem meam.
4 For you are not a God who has pleasure in ethical wickedness. Evil can’t live with you.
Mane astabo tibi et videbo: quoniam non Deus volens iniquitatem tu es.
5 The arrogant shall not stand in your sight. You hate all workers of vain striving of iniquity.
Neque habitabit iuxta te malignus: neque permanebunt iniusti ante oculos tuos.
6 You will destroy those who speak lies. Adonai abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man.
Odisti omnes, qui operantur iniquitatem: perdes omnes, qui loquuntur mendacium. Virum sanguinum et dolosum abominabitur Dominus:
7 But as for me, in the abundance of your chesed ·loving-kindness· I will come into your house. I will hawa ·bow low, prostrate· toward your holy temple in reverence of you.
ego autem in multitudine misericordiae tuae. Introibo in domum tuam: adorabo ad templum sanctum tuum in timore tuo.
8 Lead me, Adonai, in your righteousness because of my enemies. Make your way straight before my face.
Domine deduc me in iustitia tua: propter inimicos meos dirige in conspectu tuo viam meam.
9 For there is no faithfulness in their mouth. Their heart is destruction. Their throat is an open tomb. They flatter with their tongue.
Quoniam non est in ore eorum veritas: cor eorum vanum est.
10 Hold them condemned guilty, God. Let them fall by their own counsels; Thrust them out in the multitude of their rebellious breaches of relationships, for they have rebelled against you.
Sepulchrum patens est guttur eorum, linguis suis dolose agebant, iudica illos Deus. Decidant a cogitationibus suis, secundum multitudinem impietatum eorum expelle eos, quoniam irritaverunt te Domine.
11 But let all those who take refuge in you rejoice, Let them always shout for joy, because you defend them. Let them also who 'ahav ·affectionately love· your name be joyful in you.
Et laetentur omnes, qui sperant in te, in aeternum exultabunt: et habitabis in eis. Et gloriabuntur in te omnes, qui diligunt nomen tuum,
12 For you will bless the upright. Adonai, you will surround him with favor as with a shield.
quoniam tu benedices iusto. Domine, ut scuto bonae voluntatis tuae coronasti nos.
