Psalms 34
1 א I will bless Adonai at all times. His tehilah ·praise song· will always be in my mouth.
[A Psalm] of David; when he changed his behaviour before Abimelech, who drove him away, and he departed. I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
2 בּ My soul shall boast in Adonai. The humble shall sh'ma ·hear obey· it, and be glad.
My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the meek shall hear thereof, and be glad.
3 גּ Oh magnify Adonai with me. Let us exalt his name together.
O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.
4 דּ I sought Adonai, and he answered me, and delivered me from all my fears.
I sought the LORD, and he answered me, and delivered me from all my fears.
5 ה They looked to him, and were radiant. Their faces shall never be covered with shame.
They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces shall never be confounded.
6 ז This poor man cried, and Adonai sh'ma ·heard obeyed· him, and saved him out of all his troubles.
This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.
7 ח Ha mal'ak Yahweh [The Angel of He sustains breathing] encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them.
The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.
8 ט Oh taste and see that Adonai is good. Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.
O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.
9 י Oh fear Adonai, you his saints, for there is no lack with those who fear him.
O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.
10 כּ The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger, but those who seek Adonai shall not lack any good thing.
The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.
11 ל Come, you children, sh'ma ·hear obey· unto me. I will teach you the fear of Adonai.
Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
12 מ Who of you takes pleasure in living? Who 'ahav ·affectionately loves· a long life to see good things?
What man is he that desireth life, and loveth [many] days, that he may see good?
13 נ [If you do], keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from deceiving talk;
Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.
14 ס turn from evil, and do good. Seek peace, and fervently pursue it!
Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.
15 ע For Adonai’s eyes are toward the upright. His ears listen to their prayers.
The eyes of the LORD are toward the righteous, and his ears are [open] unto their cry.
16 פּ But Adonai’s face is against those who do evil, to cut off their memory from the earth.
The face of the LORD is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.
17 צ The upright cry, and Adonai sh'ma ·hears obeys·, and delivers them out of all their troubles.
[The righteous] cried, and the LORD heard, and delivered them out of all their troubles.
18 ק Adonai is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit.
The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart, and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
19 ר Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but Adonai delivers him out of them all.
Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.
20 שׁ He protects all of his bones. Not one of them is broken.
He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken.
21 תּ Evil shall kill the wicked. Those who hate the upright shall be condemned guilty.
Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be condemned.
22 Adonai redeems the soul of his servants. None of those who take refuge in him shall be condemned guilty.
The LORD redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be condemned.
