Psalms 29

1 Ascribe to Adonai, you sons of the mighty, ascribe to Adonai kavod ·weighty glory· and strength.

A Psalm of David [on the occasion] of the solemn assembly of the Tabernacle. Bring to the Lord, you sons of God, bring to the Lord young rams; bring to the Lord glory and honour.

2 Ascribe to Adonai the kavod ·weighty glory· due to his name. Hawa ·Bow low, prostrate· to worship Adonai in holy array.

Bring to the Lord glory, [due] to his name; worship the lord in his holy court.

3 Adonai’s voice is on the waters. The God of kavod ·weighty glory· thunders, even Adonai on many waters.

The voice of the Lord is upon the waters: the God of glory has thundered: the Lord is upon many waters.

4 Adonai’s voice is powerful. Adonai’s voice is full of majesty.

The voice of the Lord is mighty; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.

5 Adonai’s voice breaks the cedars. Yes, Adonai breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon.

[There is] the voice of the Lord who breaks the cedars; the Lord will break the cedars of Libanus.

6 He makes them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young, wild ox.

And he will beat them small, [even] Libanus itself, like a calf; and the beloved one is as a young unicorn.

7 Adonai’s voice strikes with flashes of lightning.

[There is] a voice of the Lord who divides a flame of fire.

8 Adonai’s voice shakes the wilderness. Adonai shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.

A voice of the Lord who shakes the wilderness; the Lord will shake the wilderness of Cades.

9 Adonai’s voice makes the deer calve, and strips the forests bare. In his temple everything says, “Kavod ·Weighty glory·!”

The voice of the Lord strengthens the hinds, and will uncover the thickets: and in his temple every one speaks [of his] glory.

10 Adonai sat enthroned at the Flood. Yes, Adonai sits as King forever.

The Lord will dwell on the waterflood: and the Lord will sit a king for ever.

11 Adonai will give strength to his people. Adonai will bless his people with peace.

The Lord will give strength to his people; the Lord will bless his people with peace.
