Psalms 147
1 Halleluyah ·praise Yah·, for it is good to sing tehilahot ·praise songs· to our God; for it is pleasant and fitting to make zahmar ·musical praise· unto him.
Lobet Jah! / Denn köstlich ist's, unsern Gott zu preisen; / Ja, lieblich ist's, es ziemt sich Lobgesang.
2 Adonai builds up Jerusalem [City of peace]. He gathers together the outcasts of Israel [God prevails].
Jahwe bauet Jerusalem, / Die Vertriebnen Israels sammelt er wieder.
3 He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds.
Er heilt die zerbrochnen Herzen, / Und ihre Wunden verbindet er.
4 He counts the number of the stars. He calls them all by their names.
Er bestimmt den Sternen ihre Zahl, / Sie alle ruft er bei Namen.
5 Great is our Lord, and mighty in power. His understanding is infinite.
Groß ist unser Herr und reich an Kraft, / Seine Einsicht ist unermeßlich.
6 Adonai upholds the humble. He brings the wicked down to the ground.
Den Duldern hilft Jahwe auf, / Aber Frevler erniedrigt er tief zu Boden.
7 Sing to Adonai with thanksgiving. Sing zahmar ·musical praise· on the harp to our God,
Stimmt für Jahwe ein Danklied an, / Spielt unserm Gott auf der Zither!
8 who covers the sky with clouds, who prepares rain for the earth, who makes grass grow on the mountains.
Er bedeckt den Himmel mit Wolken, / Er spendet Regen der Erde, / Läßt Gras auf den Bergen sprossen.
9 He provides food for the livestock, and for the young ravens when they call.
Er gibt dem Vieh sein Futter, / Den jungen Raben, wenn sie schrein.
10 He does not delight in the strength of the horse. He takes no pleasure in the legs of a man.
Nicht an des Rosses Stärke hat er Gefallen, / Er hat nicht Lust an des Mannes Beinen.
11 Adonai takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who hope in his chesed ·loving-kindness·.
Lust hat Jahwe an seinen Frommen, / Die da harren auf seine Huld.
12 Praise Adonai, Jerusalem [City of peace]! Praise your God, Zion [Mountain ridge, Marking]!
Preise, Jerusalem, Jahwe, / Lobe, Zion, deinen Gott!
13 For he has strengthened the bars of your gates. He has blessed your children within you.
Denn er hat deiner Tore Riegel gestärkt, / Hat deine Kinder gesegnet in dir.
14 He makes peace in your borders. He fills you with the finest of the wheat.
Er hat deinem Lande Frieden geschenkt, / Dich mit dem besten Weizen gesättigt.
15 He sends his word out over the earth. His word runs very swiftly.
Er sendet sein Machtwort nieder zur Erde, / Eilend läuft sein Gebot.
16 He gives snow like wool, and scatters frost like ashes.
Er gibt Schnee wie Wolle, / Streut Reif wie Asche aus.
17 He hurls down his hail like pebbles. Who can stand before his cold?
Er wirft seinen Hagel herab in Stücken: / Wer hält vor seiner Kälte stand?
18 He sends out his word, and melts them. He causes his wind to blow, and the waters flow.
Sendet er aber sein Wort, so zerschmelzt er sie. / Er läßt seinen Tauwind wehn, so rinnen Gewässer.
19 He shows his word to Jacob [Supplanter]; his statutes and his judgments to Israel [God prevails].
Er hat für Jakob sein Wort verkündet, / Seine Satzungen und Rechte für Israel.
20 He has not done this for just any nation. They don’t know his judgments. Halleluyah ·praise Yah·!
So hat er sonst keinem Volke getan; / Drum kennen sie auch seine Rechte nicht. / Lobt Jah!
