< Psalms 146 >
1 Halleluyah ·praise Yah·! Praise Adonai, my soul.
Alleluia. Of Haggai and Zachariah.
2 While I live, I will praise Adonai. I will sing zahmar ·musical praise· to my God as long as I exist.
Praise the Lord, O my soul. I will praise the Lord with my life. I will sing psalms to my God as long as I shall be. Do not trust in the leaders,
3 Don’t put your trust in princes, each a son of man in whom there is no help.
in the sons of men, in whom there is no salvation.
4 His spirit departs, and he teshuvah ·completely returns· to the earth. In that very day, his thoughts perish.
His spirit will depart, and he will return to his earth. In that day, all their thoughts will perish.
5 Happy is he who has the God of Jacob [Supplanter] for his help, whose hope is in Adonai, his God:
Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob: his hope is in the Lord God himself,
6 who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them; who keeps truth forever;
who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all the things that are in them.
7 who executes mishpat ·justice· for the oppressed; who gives food to the hungry. Adonai frees the prisoners.
He preserves the truth forever. He executes judgment for those who suffer injury. He provides food for the hungry. The Lord releases those who are bound.
8 Adonai opens the eyes of the blind. Adonai raises up those who are bowed down. Adonai 'ahav ·affectionately loves· the upright.
The Lord enlightens the blind. The Lord sets upright those who have been thrown down. The Lord loves the just.
9 Adonai preserves the foreigners. He upholds the fatherless and widow, but the way of the wicked he turns upside down.
The Lord watches over new arrivals. He will support the orphan and the widow. And he will destroy the ways of sinners.
10 Adonai will reign forever; your God, O Zion [Mountain ridge, Marking], to all generations. Halleluyah ·praise Yah·!
The Lord shall reign forever: your God, O Zion, from generation to generation.
