1 א ('ashreiy, Blessed) Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to Adonai’s Torah ·Teaching·.
Happy are they who are upright in their way, Who walk in the law of the LORD!
2 א ('ashreiy, Blessed) Blessed are those who keep his testimonies, who seek him with their whole heart.
Happy are they who observe his ordinances, And seek him with their whole heart;
3 א ('ap, Also) Yes, they do nothing wrong. They walk in his ways.
Who also do no iniquity, But walk in his ways!
4 א ('atah, You) You have enjoined your precepts, that we should fully obey them.
Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently.
5 א ('achalay, Oh that) Oh that my ways were steadfast to obey your statutes!
O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes!
6 א ('az, Then) Then I would not be disappointed, when I consider all of your mitzvot ·instructions·.
Then shall I not be put to shame, When I have respect to all thy commandments.
7 א ('odka, Shall give thanks) I will yadah ·extend hands in thankful praise· to you with uprightness of heart, when I learn your righteous judgments.
I will praise thee in uprightness of heart, When I shall have learned thy righteous laws.
8 א ('et-chukeycha, את-your statutes) I will observe את your statutes. Don’t utterly forsake me. BET בּ and VET ב
I will keep thy statutes; Do not utterly forsake me!
9 בּ (Bahmeh, What) How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word.
How shall a young man keep his way pure? By taking heed to it according to thy word.
10 בּ (Bekhal-kibiy, With whole-my heart) With my whole heart, I have sought you. Don’t let me go astray, intoxicated, unintentional sin ·error· from your mitzvot ·instructions·.
With my whole heart have I sought thee; O let me not wander from thy commandments!
11 בּ (Bekhal-kibiy, With whole-my heart) I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin ·err (from the standard goal)· against you.
Thy word have I hid in my heart, That I might not sin against thee.
12 בּ (B'libiy, In my heart) Blessed are you, Adonai. Teach me your statutes.
Blessed be thou, O LORD! O teach me thy statutes!
13 בּ (Baruch, Blessed) With my lips, I have declared all the judgments of your mouth.
With my lips do I declare All the precepts of thy mouth.
14 בּ (Bees'pati, With my lips) I have rejoiced in the way of your testimonies, as much as in all riches.
In the way of thine ordinances I rejoice As much as in all riches.
15 בּ (Bideirek', In the way) I will meditate on your precepts, and consider your ways.
I meditate on thy precepts, And have respect unto thy ways.
16 בּ (Bipeekudeyka, On your precepts) I will delight myself in your regulations. I will not forget your word. GIMEL גּ
I delight myself in thy statutes; I do not forget thy word.
17 גּ (Gimol, Deal / Do good) Do good to your servant. I will live and I will obey your word.
Deal kindly with thy servant, that I may live, And have regard to thy word!
18 גּ (Gal-'eiyni, Open-my eyes) Open my eyes, that I may see wondrous things out of your Torah ·Teaching·.
Open thou mine eyes, That I may behold wondrous things out of thy law!
19 גּ (Geir, Sojourner) I am a stranger on the earth. Don’t hide your mitzvot ·instructions·from me.
I am a stranger in the earth; O hide not thy precepts from me!
20 גּ (Gar'sah, Has crushed) My soul is consumed with longing for your judgments at all times.
My soul breaketh within me, On account of longing for thy judgments at all times.
21 גּ (Ga'ar'ta, Have rebuked) You have rebuked the proud who are cursed, who are lead astray, intoxicated, unintentional sin ·error·from your mitzvot ·instructions·.
Thou rebukest the proud, the accursed, Who wander from thy commandments.
22 גּ (Gal, Take) Take reproach and contempt away from me, for I have kept your testimonies.
Remove from me reproach and contempt, For I have kept thine ordinances!
23 גּ (Gam, Also) Though princes sit and slander me, your servant will meditate on your statutes.
Princes sit and speak against me, But thy servant meditateth on thy statutes.
24 גּ (Gam-'eidoteyka, Also-your testimonies) Indeed your testimonies are my delight, and my counselors. DALET דּ
Thine ordinances are my delight; Yea, they are my counsellors.
25 דּ (Deib'kah, Cleaves) My soul is laid low in the dust. Revive me according to your word!
My soul cleaveth to the dust; O revive me, according to thy word!
26 דּ (Diraki, My ways) I declared my ways, and you answered me. Teach me your statutes.
I have declared my ways, and thou hast heard me; Teach me thy statutes!
27 דּ (Derek'-pekoodeyka, Way-of your precepts) Let me understand the teaching of your precepts! Then I will meditate on your wondrous works.
Make me to understand the way of thy precepts! So will I meditate upon thy wonders.
28 דּ (Dal'pah, Melts) My soul is weary with sorrow: strengthen me according to your word.
My soul weepeth for trouble; O lift me up according to thy promise!
29 דּ (Derek'-sheker, Way-of false) Keep me from the way of deceit. Teach me your Torah ·Teaching· in your favor!
Remove from me the way of falsehood, And graciously grant me thy law!
30 דּ (Derek'-'emoonah, Way-of truth) I have chosen the way of truth. I have set your judgments before me.
I have chosen the way of truth, And set thy statutes before me.
31 דּ (Dabak'tiy, I cling) I cling to your testimonies, Adonai. Don’t let me be disappointed.
I cleave to thine ordinances; O LORD! let me not be put to shame!
32 דּ (Derek-mitz'vohteyka, Journey-your commands) I run in the path of your mitzvot ·instructions·, for you have set my heart free. HEY ה
I will run in the way of thy commandments, When thou shalt enlarge my heart.
33 ה (Hovreniy, Teach me) Teach me, Adonai, the way of your statutes. I will keep them to the end.
Teach me, O LORD! the way of thy statutes, That I may keep it to the end!
34 ה (Habiyneniy, Give me understanding) Give me understanding, and I will keep your Torah ·Teaching·. Yes, I will obey it with my whole heart.
Give me understanding, that I may keep thy law; That I may observe it with my whole heart!
35 ה (Had'riykeiniy, Make me to go) Direct me in the path of your mitzvot ·instructions·, for I delight in them.
Cause me to tread in the path of thy commandments, For in it I have my delight.
36 ה (Hat-libiy, Incline-my heart) Turn my heart toward your testimonies, not toward selfish gain.
Incline my heart to thine ordinances, And not to the love of gain!
37 ה (Ha'a'beir, Turn away) Turn my eyes away from looking at worthless things. Revive me in your ways.
Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity, And quicken me in thy law!
38 ה (Hakeim, Establish) Fulfill your promise to your servant, that you may be feared.
Fulfill to thy servant thy promise, Which thou hast made to him who feareth thee!
39 ה (Ha'a'beir, Turn away) Take away my disgrace that I dread, for your judgments are good.
Turn away the reproach which I fear; For thy judgments are good.
40 ה (Hineih, Behold) Behold, I long for your precepts! Revive me in your righteousness. VAV ו
Behold, I have longed for thy precepts; O quicken thou me in thy righteousness!
41 ו (Viybo'ooniy, Come to me) Let your chesed ·loving-kindness· also come to me, Adonai, your salvation, according to your word.
Let thy mercies come to me, O LORD! And thy help according to thy promise!
42 ו (Vi’e’eneh, And answer) So I will have an answer for him who reproaches me, for I trust in your word.
So shall I be able to answer him that reproacheth me; For I trust in thy promise.
43 ו (Vi'al-tatzeil, And do not take) Don’t snatch the word of truth out of my mouth, for I put my hope in your judgments.
O take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth! For I trust in thy judgments.
44 ו (Vi'esh’m’rah, And I will keep) So I will obey your Torah ·Teaching· continually, forever and ever.
So shall I keep thy law continually, For ever and ever.
45 ו (Vi'et’hal’kah, And I will walk) I will walk in liberty, for I have sought your precepts.
I shall walk in a wide path; For I seek thy precepts.
46 ו (Va'a’dab’rah, And I will speak) I will also speak of your testimonies before kings, and will not be disappointed.
I will speak of thine ordinances before kings, And will not be ashamed.
47 ו (Vi'esh’ta’asha’, And I will delight myself) I will delight myself in your mitzvot ·instructions·, because I 'ahav ·affectionately love· them.
I will delight myself in thy commandments, which I love;
48 ו (Vi’esa’-khapi, And I will lift up-my hands) I reach out my hands for your mitzvot ·instructions·, which I 'ahav ·affectionately love·. I will meditate on your statutes. ZAYIN ז
I will lift up my hands to thy precepts, which I love; I will meditate on thy statutes.
49 ז (Zikhor-dabar, Remember-word) Remember your word to your servant, because you gave me hope.
Remember thy promise to thy servant, Because thou hast caused me to hope!
50 ז(Zo’t, This) This is my comfort in my affliction, for your word has revived me.
This is my comfort in my affliction; For thy promise reviveth me.
51 ז (Zeideem, Arrogant) The arrogant mock me excessively, but I don’t swerve from your Torah ·Teaching·.
The proud have had me greatly in derision; Yet have I not swerved from thy law.
52 ז (Zakhar’tiy, I remembered) I remember your judgments of old, Adonai, and have comforted myself.
I remember thy judgments of old, O LORD! And I comfort myself.
53 ז (Zal’’apah, Burning indignation) Indignation has taken hold on me, because of the wicked who forsake your Torah ·Teaching·.
Indignation burneth within me, On account of the wicked who forsake thy law.
54 ז (Zimerovt, My songs) Your statutes have been my songs, in the house where I live.
Thy statutes have been my song In the house of my pilgrimage.
55 ז (Zakhar’toy, I remembered) I have remembered your name, Adonai, in the night, and I obey your Torah ·Teaching·.
In the night, O LORD! I think of thy name, And keep thy law!
56 ז (Zo’t, This is) This is my way, that I keep your precepts. CHET or HET ח
This have I as my own, That I keep thy precepts.
57 ח (Chel’kiy, My portion) Adonai is my portion. I promised to obey your words.
Thou art my portion, O LORD! I have resolved that I will keep thy precepts.
58 ח (Chiliytiy, I sought) I sought your favor with my whole heart. Be merciful to me according to your word.
I have sought thy favor with my whole heart; Be gracious unto me according to thy promise!
59 ח (Chishab’tiy, I considered) I considered my ways, and turned my steps to your testimonies.
I think on my ways, And turn my feet to thy statutes;
60 ח (Chash’tiy, I hastened) I will hurry, and not delay, to obey your mitzvot ·instructions·.
I make haste, and delay not, To keep thy commandments.
61 ח (Cheb’ley, Cords / Ropes) The ropes of the wicked bind me, but I won’t forget your Torah ·Teaching·.
The snares of the wicked surround me; Yet do I not forget thy law.
62 ח (Cha’tzot-li’lah, At mid-night) At midnight I will rise to yadah ·extend hands in thankful praise· to you, because of your righteous judgments.
At midnight I rise to give thanks to thee On account of thy righteous judgments.
63 ח (Chaber, Companion) I am a friend of all those who fear you, of those who observe your precepts.
I am the companion of all who fear thee, And who obey thy precepts.
64 ח (Chas’d’ka, Your loving kindness) The earth is full of your chesed ·loving-kindness·, Adonai. Teach me your statutes. TET ט
The earth, O LORD! is full of thy goodness; O teach me thy statutes!
65 ט (Tov, Good) Do good to your servant, according to your word, Adonai.
Thou dost bless thy servant, O LORD! According to thy promise!
66 ט (Tov, Good) Teach me good judgment and knowledge, for I trust in your mitzvot ·instructions·.
Teach me sound judgment and knowledge! For I have faith in thy commandments.
67 ט (Terem, Before) Before I was afflicted, I deviated to mental error, unintentional sin ·error·; but now I observe your word.
Before I was afflicted, I went astray; But now I keep thy word.
68 ט (Tov-’atah, Good-you are) You are good, and do good. Teach me your statutes.
Thou art good and doest good; O teach me thy statutes!
69 ט (Tap’lu, Have forged) The proud have smeared a lie upon me. With my whole heart, I will keep your precepts.
The proud forge lies against me, But I keep thy precepts with my whole heart.
70 ט (Tapash, Is covered) Their heart is as callous as the fat, but I delight in your Torah ·Teaching·.
Their heart is senseless like fat; But I delight in thy law.
71 ט (Tov-liy, Good-for me) It is good for me that I have been afflicted, that I may learn your statutes.
It is good for me that I have been afflicted, That I might learn thy statutes.
72 ט (Tov-liy, Good-for me) The Torah ·Teaching· of your mouth is better to me than thousands of pieces of gold and silver. YUD or YOD י
The law of thy mouth is better to me Than thousands of gold and silver.
73 י (Yadeyka, Your hands) Your hands have made me and formed me. Give me understanding, that I may learn your mitzvot ·instructions·.
Thy hands have made and fashioned me; Give me understanding, that I may learn thy commandments!
74 י (Y’rei'eyka, They fear) Those who fear you will see me and be glad, because I have put my hope in your word.
They who fear thee shall see me and rejoice, Because I trust in thy word.
75 י (Yada’’tiy, I know) Adonai, I know that your judgments are righteous, that in faithfulness you have afflicted me.
I know, O LORD! that thy judgments are right, And that in faithfulness thou hast afflicted me.
76 י (Y’heey-na’, Let be-now please) Please let your chesed ·loving-kindness· be for my comfort, according to your word to your servant.
O let thy loving-kindness be my comfort, According to thy promise to thy servant!
77 י (Y’bo'ooniy, Come to me) Let your tender rachamim ·merciful loves· come to me, that I may live; for your Torah ·Teaching· is my delight.
Let thy tender mercies come to me, that I may live! For thy law is my delight.
78 י (Yeiboshoo, Be ashamed) Let the proud be disappointed, for they have overthrown me wrongfully. I will meditate on your precepts.
May the proud be put to shame, who wrong me without cause! But I will meditate on thy precepts.
79 י (Yashooboo, They will turn) Let those who fear you turn to me. They will know your testimonies.
Let those who fear thee turn unto me, And they that know thine ordinances!
80 י (Y’heey-loboy, Let be-my heart) Let my heart be blameless toward your statutes, that I may not be disappointed. KAF כּ or KAPH כ
May my heart be perfect in thy statutes, That I may not be put to shame!
81 כּ (Kal’tah, Yearns) My soul faints for your salvation. I hope in your word.
My soul fainteth for thy salvation; In thy promise do I trust.
82 כּ (Kalu, Strain) My eyes fail for your word. I say, “When will you comfort me?”
Mine eyes fail with looking for thy promise; When. say I, wilt thou comfort me?
83 כּ (Kiy-Hayiytiy, For I have become) For I have become like a wineskin in the smoke. I don’t forget your statutes.
Yea, I am become like a bottle in the smoke; Yet do I not forget thy statutes.
84 כּ (Kamah, How many) How many are the days of your servant? When will you execute judgement on those who persecute me?
How many are the days of thy servant? When wilt thou execute judgment upon my persecutors?
85 כּ (Karu-loy, Have dug for me) The proud have dug pits for me, contrary to your Torah ·Teaching·.
The proud have digged pits for me; They who do not regard thy law.
86 כּ (Kal-mitz’voteyka, All your commands) All of your mitzvot ·instructions· are faithful. They persecute me wrongfully. Help me!
All thy commandments are faithful; They persecute me without cause; help thou me!
87 כּ (Kim’’at, Almost) They had almost wiped me from the earth, but I didn’t forsake your precepts.
They had almost consumed me from the earth; But I forsook not thy precepts.
88 כּ (K’chas’di’ka, In your covenant loyalty) Preserve my life according to your chesed ·loving-kindness·, so I will obey the testimonies of your mouth. LAMED ל
Quicken me according to thy loving-kindness, That I may keep the law of thy mouth!
89 ל (L’’olam, To forever) Adonai, your word is settled in heaven forever.
Thy word, O LORD! abideth for ever, Being established like the heavens;
90 ל (L’dor, To generation) Your faithfulness is to all generations. You have established the earth, and it remains.
Thy faithfulness endureth to all generations. Thou hast established the earth, and it abideth.
91 ל (L’mish’pate’ka, To your judgment) Your judgments remain to this day, for all things serve you.
They continue to this day according to their ordinances; For they are all subject to thee.
92 ל (Luleiy, Unless) Unless your Torah ·Teaching· had been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction.
Had not thy law been my delight, I should have perished in my affliction.
93 ל (L’’olam, To forever) I will never forget your precepts, for with them, you have revived me.
I will never forget thy precepts; For by them thou revivest me.
94 ל (L’ka-’aniy, To yourself-Here I am) I am yours. Save me, for I have sought your precepts.
I am thine, help me! For I seek thy precepts.
95 ל (Liy, For me) The wicked have waited for me, to destroy me. I will consider your testimonies.
The wicked lie in wait to destroy me; But I will have regard to thine ordinances.
96 ל (L’khal, To all) I have seen a limit to all perfection, but your mitzvot ·instructions· are boundless. MEM מ
I have seen an end of all perfection; But thy law is exceeding broad.
97 מ (Mah-’ahav’tiy, How-I affectionately love) How I 'ahav ·affectionately love· your Torah ·Teaching·! It is my meditation all day.
O how I love thy law! It is my daily (meditation)
98 מ (Mei'oy’vay, Than my enemies) I am wiser than my enemies, for your mitzvot ·instructions· are always with me.
Thou hast made me wiser than my enemies by thy precepts; For they are ever before me.
99 מ (Mikal-m’lam’day, Than all-my teachers) I have more understanding than all my teachers, for your testimonies are my (meditation)
I have more understanding than all my teachers; For thine ordinances are my (meditation)
100 מ (Miz’keiniym, Than elders / Than ancients) I understand more than the aged, because I have kept your precepts.
I have more wisdom than the ancients, Because I keep thy precepts.
101 מ (Mikal-’orach, From all-way) I have kept my feet from every evil way, that I might observe your word.
I have restrained my feet from every evil way, That I might keep thy word.
102 מ (Mimish’pateyka, From your ordinances) I have not turned aside from your judgments, for you have taught me.
I depart not from thy statutes, For thou teachest me!
103 מ (Mah-nim’l’tzu, How-sweet) How sweet are your promises to my taste, more than honey to my mouth!
How sweet are thy words to my taste; Yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!
104 מ (Mipikudeyka, From your precepts) Through your precepts, I get understanding; therefore I hate every false way. NUN נ
From thy precepts I learn wisdom; Therefore do I hate every false way.
105 נ (Ner-l’rag’liy, Lamp-to my feet) Your word is a lamp candle to my feet, and a light for my path.
Thy word is a lamp to my feet, And a light to my path.
106 נ (Nish’ba’’tiy, I have sworn) I have sworn, and have confirmed it, that I will obey your righteous judgments.
I have sworn, and I will perform it, That I will keep thy righteous statutes.
107 נ (Na’aneiytiy, I am afflicted) I am afflicted very much. Revive me, Adonai, according to your word.
I am exceedingly afflicted; Revive me, O LORD! according to thy word!
108 נ (Nidvot, Freewill offering) Accept, I beg you, the willing offerings of my mouth. Adonai, teach me your judgments.
Accept, O LORD! the free-will offering of my mouth, And teach me thy statutes!
109 נ (Nap’shiy, My soul / My life) My soul is continually in my hand, yet I won’t forget your Torah ·Teaching·.
My life is continually in my hand; Yet do I not forget thy law.
110 נ (Nat’nu, They have laid) The wicked have laid a snare for me, yet I haven’t gone astray from your precepts.
The wicked lay snares for me, Yet do I not go astray from thy precepts.
111 נ (Nachal’tiy, I have inherited) I have taken your testimonies as a heritage forever, for they are the joy of my heart.
I have made thine ordinances my possession for ever; For they are the joy of my heart.
112 נ (Natiytiy, I have inclined) I have set my heart to perform your statutes forever, even to the end. SAMECH ס
I have inclined my heart to perform thy statutes, Always, —even to the end.
113 ס (Se’a’piym, Double-minded / Vain thoughts) I hate double-minded men, but I 'ahav ·affectionately love· your Torah ·Teaching·.
I hate impious men, And thy law I do love.
114 ס (Sit’riy, My hiding place) You are my hiding place and my shield. I hope in your word.
Thou art my hiding-place and my shield; In thy word I put my trust!
115 ס (Suru-mimeniy, Depart-from me) Depart from me, you evildoers, that I may keep the mitzvot ·instructions· of my God.
Depart from me, ye evil-doers! For I will keep the commandments of my God.
116 ס (Sam’kheiniy, Sustain) Uphold me according to your word, that I may live. Let me not be ashamed of my hope.
Uphold me according to thy promise, that I may live; And let me not be ashamed of my hope!
117 ס (S’’adiniy, Uphold) Hold me up, and I will be safe, and will have respect for your statutes continually.
Do thou hold me up, and I shall be safe, And I will have respect to thy statutes continually!
118 ס (Saliyta, Rejected) You reject all those who are lead astray, intoxicated, unintentional sin ·error· from your statutes, for their deceit is in vain.
Thou castest off all who depart from thy laws; For their deceit is vain.
119 ס (Sigiym, Dross) You put away all the wicked of the earth like dross. Therefore I 'ahav ·affectionately love· your testimonies.
Thou throwest away all the wicked of the earth, like dross; Therefore I love thine ordinances.
120 ס (Samar, Trembles) My flesh trembles for fear of you. I am afraid of your judgments. 'AYIN ע
My flesh trembleth through fear of thee, And I am afraid of thy judgments.
121 ע (‘Asitiy, I have done) I have done what is mishpat ·just· and upright. Don’t leave me to my oppressors.
I have done justice and equity; O leave me not to mine oppressors.
122 ע (‘A’rov, Be pledge) Ensure your servant’s well-being. Don’t let the proud oppress me.
Be surety for thy servant for good; Let not the proud oppress me!
123 ע ('Eiynay, My eyes) My eyes fail looking for your yishu'ah ·salvation·, for your righteous word.
Mine eyes fail with looking for thy help, And for thy righteous promise.
124 ע (‘Aseih, Deal) Deal with your servant according to your chesed ·loving-kindness·. Teach me your statutes.
Deal with thy servant according to thy mercy, And teach me thy statutes!
125 ע (‘Av’de’ka-’aney, Your servant-I am) I am your servant. Give me understanding, that I may know your testimonies.
I am thy servant; give me understanding, That I may know thine ordinances!
126 ע ('Eit, Time for) It is time to act, Adonai, for they break your Torah ·Teaching·.
It is time for thee, O LORD! to act; For men have made void thy law.
127 ע (‘Al-kein, Therefore-thus) Therefore I 'ahav ·affectionately love· your mitzvot ·instructions· more than gold, yes, more than pure gold.
Therefore I love thy commandments above gold; Yea, above fine gold.
128 ע (‘Al-kein, Therefore-thus) Therefore I consider all of your precepts to be right. I hate every false way. PEH פ and FEH פּ
Therefore I esteem all thy precepts concerning all things to be right; I hate every false way.
129 פּ (F’la'ot, Wonderful) Your testimonies are wonderful, therefore my soul keeps them.
Wonderful are thine ordinances; Therefore do I observe them.
130 פּ (Feitah, Unfolding) The entrance of your words gives light. It gives understanding to the simple.
The communication of thy precepts giveth light; It giveth understanding to the simple.
131 פּ (Fiy-pa'arti, My mouth-I opened) I opened my mouth wide and panted, for I longed for your mitzvot ·instructions·.
I open my mouth and pant: For I long for thy commandments.
132 פּ (F’neih-’eilay, Turn-to me) Turn to me, and be merciful towards me, as you always do mishpat ·justice· to those who 'ahav ·affectionately love· your name.
Look thou upon me, and be gracious to me, As is just to those who love thy name!
133 פּ (F'’amay, My footsteps) Establish my footsteps in your word. Don’t let any vain striving of iniquity have dominion over me.
Establish my footsteps in thy word, And let no iniquity have dominion over me!
134 פּ (F’deiniy, Redeem) Redeem me from the oppression of man, so I will observe your precepts.
Redeem me from the oppression of men, So will I keep thy precepts!
135 פּ (Faneyka, Your face) Make your face shine on your servant. Teach me your statutes.
Let thy face shine on thy servant, And teach me thy statutes!
136 פּ (Fal’geiy-mayim, Rivers-water) Streams of tears run down my eyes, because they don’t observe your Torah ·Teaching·. TZADI צ
Rivers of water run down mine eyes, Because men keep not thy law.
137 צ (Tzadiyk, Righteous person) You are righteous, Adonai. Your judgments are upright.
Righteous art thou, O LORD! And just are thy judgments!
138 צ (Tziviyta, You have commanded) Your testimonies you have enjoined are in righteousness. They are fully trustworthy.
Just are the ordinances which thou hast ordained, And altogether righteous.
139 צ (Tzim’tat’niy, Has consumed) My zeal wears me out, because my enemies ignore your words.
My zeal consumeth me, Because my enemies forget thy word.
140 צ (Tz’rupah, Is tested / Pure) Your promises have been thoroughly tested, and your servant 'ahav ·affectionately loves· them.
Thy word is very pure, Therefore thy servant loveth it.
141 צ (Tza'iyr, Small / Younger) I am small and despised. I don’t forget your precepts.
Of mean condition am I, and despised; Yet do I not forget thy precepts.
142 צ (Tzid’kat’ka, Your righteousness) Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness. Your Torah ·Teaching· is truth.
Thy righteousness is everlasting righteousness, And thy law is truth.
143 צ (Tzar-vomatzohk, Adversary-and distress) Trouble and anguish have taken hold of me. Your mitzvot ·instructions· are my delight.
Trouble and anguish have taken hold of me, But thy laws are my delight.
144 צ (Tzedek, Righteous) Your testimonies are righteous forever. Give me understanding, that I may live. KUF ק
The justice of thine ordinances is everlasting; Give me understanding, and I shall live!
145 ק (Kara’tiy, I called) Wholeheartedly I am calling on you; Answer me, Adonai! I will keep your statutes.
I cry to thee with my whole heart; Hear me, O LORD! that I may keep thy statutes.
146 ק (K’ra’tiyka, I called to you) I have called to you. Save me! I will obey your testimonies.
I cry unto thee; save me, And I will observe thine ordinances.
147 ק (Kidam’tiy, I rise) I rise before dawn and cry for help. I put my hope in your words.
I come before the dawn with my prayer; I trust in thy promise!
148 ק (Kid’mu, Anticipate) My eyes stay open through the night watches, that I might meditate on your word.
My eyes anticipate the night-watches, That I may meditate upon thy promise.
149 ק (Koliy, My voice) Sh'ma ·Hear obey· my voice according to your chesed ·loving-kindness·. Revive me, Adonai, according to your judgments.
Hear my voice according to thy loving-kindness; O LORD! revive me according to thy mercy!
150 ק (Kar’bu, Draw near) They draw near who follow after wickedness. They are far from your Torah ·Teaching·.
Near are they whose aim is mischief; They are far from thy law;
151 ק (Karob, Are near) You are near, Adonai. All your mitzvot ·instructions· are truth.
Yet thou art near, O LORD! And all thy commandments are truth!
152 ק (Kedem, Long ago / Ancient time) Of old I have known from your testimonies, that you have founded them forever. RESH ר
Long have I known concerning thine ordinances, That thou hast founded them for ever.
153 ר (R'’eih-’an’yiy, See-My affliction) Consider my affliction, and deliver me, for I don’t forget your Torah ·Teaching·.
Look upon my affliction, and deliver me! For I do not forget thy law.
154 ר (Riybah, Plead) Plead my cause, and redeem me! Revive me according to your promise.
Maintain my cause, and redeem me; Revive me according to thy promise!
155 ר (Rahok, Far / Distant) Yishu'ah ·Salvation· is far from the wicked, for they don’t seek your statutes.
Salvation is far from the wicked, Because they seek not thy statutes.
156 ר (Raha’meyka, Your tender mercies) Great is your tender rachamim ·merciful loves· to me, Adonai. Revive me according to your judgments.
Great is thy compassion, O LORD! Revive thou me according to thine equity!
157 ר (Raviym, Abundant) Many are my persecutors and my adversaries. I haven’t deviated from your testimonies.
Many are my persecutors and my enemies, Yet do I not depart from thine ordinances.
158 ר (Ra’iytiy, I behold) I look at the faithless with loathing, because they don’t observe your word.
I behold the transgressors, and am grieved Because they regard not thy word.
159 ר (R'’eih, Consider) Consider how I 'ahav ·affectionately love· your precepts. Revive me, Adonai, according to your chesed ·loving-kindness·.
Behold, how I love thy precepts! O LORD! revive me according to thy loving-kindness!
160 ר (Rosh-D’var’ka, Head-Your word) All of your words are truth. Every one of your righteous judgments endures forever. SHIN שׁ and SIN שׂ
The whole of thy word is truth, And all thy righteous judgments endure for ever.
161 שׂ (Sarim, Princes) Princes have persecuted me without a cause, but my heart stands in awe of your words.
Princes have persecuted me without cause; But my heart standeth in awe of thy word.
162 שׂ (Sas, Rejoice) I rejoice at your word, as one who finds great plunder.
I rejoice in thy word, As one that hath found great spoil.
163 שׁ (Sheker, Falsehood / Deceiving) I hate and abhor falsehood. I 'ahav ·affectionately love· your Torah ·Teaching·.
I hate and abhor lying, And thy law do I love.
164 שׁ (Sheva’, Seven) Seven times a day, I praise you, because of your righteous judgments.
Seven times a day do I praise thee On account of thy righteous judgments.
165 שׁ (Shalom, Peace / Wholeness) Those who 'ahav ·affectionately love· your Torah ·Teaching· have great peace. Nothing causes them to stumble.
Great peace have they who love thy law, And no evil shall befall them.
166 שׂ (Sibar’tiy, I hope) I have hoped for your yishu'ah ·salvation·, Adonai. I obey your mitzvot ·instructions·.
O LORD! I wait for thy salvation, And keep thy commandments!
167 שׁ (Sham’rah, Keep guard) My soul has observed your testimonies. I 'ahav ·affectionately love· them exceedingly.
My soul observeth thine ordinances, And loveth them exceedingly.
168 שׁ (Shamar’tiy, I keep guard) I have obeyed your precepts and your testimonies, for all my ways are before you. TAV תּ
I keep thy precepts and thine ordinances; For all my ways are before thee.
169 תּ (Tik’rav, Come near) Let my cry come before you, Adonai. Give me understanding according to your word.
Let my prayer come near before thee, O LORD! According to thy promise, give me understanding!
170 תּ (Tavo', Enter) Let my supplication come before you. Deliver me according to your word.
Let my supplication come before thee; O deliver me according to thy promise!
171 תּ (Taba’nah, Utterance) Let my lips utter tehilah ·praise song·, for you teach me your statutes.
My lips shall pour forth praise; For thou teachest me thy statutes.
172 תּ (Ta'an, Answer) Let my tongue sing of your word, for all your mitzvot ·instructions· are righteousness.
My tongue shall sing of thy word; For all thy commandments are right.
173 תּ (T’hiy-yad’ka, Let-your hand) Let your hand be ready to help me, for I have chosen your precepts.
Let thy hand be my help; For I have chosen thy precepts!
174 תּ (Ta'av’tiy, My longing) I have longed for your yishu'ah ·salvation·, Adonai. Your Torah ·Teaching· is my delight.
I long for thy salvation, O LORD! And thy law is my delight!
175 תּ (T’hiy-naf’shiy, Let my-soul life) Let my soul live, that I may praise you. Let your judgments help me.
Let me live, and I will praise thee; Let thy judgments help me!
176 תּ (Ta’iytiy, I have gone astray) I have gone astray like a lost sheep. Seek your servant, for I don’t forget your mitzvot ·instructions·.
I wander like a lost sheep; seek thy servant, For I do not forget thy commandments!
