< Psalms 111 >
1 א Halleluyah ·praise Yah·! I will yadah ·extend hands in thankful praise· to Adonai with my whole heart, בּ in the council of the upright, and in the congregation.
Alleluia. I will give you thanks, O Lord, with my whole heart, in the council of the upright, and [in] the congregation.
2 גּ Adonai’s works are great, דּ pondered by all those who delight in them.
The works of the Lord are great, sought out according to all his will.
3 ה His work is honor and majesty. ו His righteousness endures forever.
His work is [worthy of] thanksgiving and honour: and his righteousness endures for ever and ever.
4 ז He has caused his wonderful works to be remembered. ח Adonai is gracious and merciful.
He has caused his wonderful works to be remembered: the Lord is merciful and compassionate.
5 ט He has given food to those who fear him. י He always remembers his covenant ·binding contract between two or more parties·.
He has given food to them that fear him: he will remember his covenant for ever.
6 כּ He has shown his people the power of his works, ל in giving them the heritage of the nations.
He has declared to his people the power of his works, to give them the inheritance of the heathen.
7 מ The works of his hands are truth and mishpat ·justice·. נ All his precepts are sure.
The works of his hands are truth and judgement: all his commandments are sure:
8 ס They are established forever and ever. ע They are done in truth and uprightness.
established for ever and ever, done in truth and uprightness.
9 פּ He has sent redemption to his people. צ He has enjoined his covenant forever. ק His name is holy and awesome!
He sent redemption to his people: he commanded his covenant for ever: holy and fearful is his name.
10 ר The fear of Adonai is the beginning of wisdom. שׂ All those who do his work have a good understanding. תּ His tehilah ·praise song· endures forever!
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and all that act accordingly have a good understanding; his praise endures for ever and ever.
